All spotlight hours in June 2023 at Pokémon GO in overview. We show you all Pokémon, bonuses and times and explain which shinies you can find and whether the events are worth it.
What kind of events are these? Every Tuesday evening, a spotlight hour starts in Pokémon GO at 6:00 PM. These events last for one hour and are active until 7:00 PM. Each time, one Pokémon is the focus, along with a bonus that affects stardust, candies or experience points. At the beginning of each month, Niantic sets the combination of Pokémon and bonus for the month.

Spotlight hour on June 6
Which Pokémon? In the first spotlight hour in June, you will encounter 5 Pokémon at once. This is a special feature of these events, where usually only one specimen is in focus. You will meet Krabby, Kabuto, Krebscorps, Scampisto, and Krabbox.
What bonuses are active? For catching Pokémon, you will receive triple the amount of experience points.
Who is this beneficial for? Different Pokémon are worthwhile depending on your use:
- Kingler, the evolution of Krabby, is a good PvE attacker. However, it is also a glass cannon.
- Kabutops, the evolution of Kabuto, is not particularly strong.
- Krebutak, the evolution of Krebscorps, is okay as a PvE attacker. But there are many stronger alternatives.
- Wummer, the evolution of Scampisto, is not particularly strong.
- Krawell, the evolution of Krabbox, is not particularly strong.
The triple XP bonus is especially beneficial for players who are on the way to level 50.
Which shinies can you catch? You can catch the shinies of Krabby, Kabuto, Krebscorps, and Scampisto. Only Krabbox does not have a shiny version in Pokémon GO yet.
Spotlight hour on June 13
Which Pokémon? In the second spotlight hour in June, you will encounter the Pokémon Bithora. It comes from the sixth generation and can evolve into Thanathora.
What bonuses are active? For catching Pokémon, you will receive double the amount of candies.
Who is this beneficial for? Thanathora plays in the lower midfield of the Super League in PvP. In the Hyper League, the attacker is at least in the upper midfield but has many stronger alternatives. You will not find a must-have attacker on this date.
Can you catch shiny Bithora? Yes, the shiny form of Bithora is already active in Pokémon GO and can be caught by you with some luck.
Spotlight hour on June 20
Which Pokémon? The third spotlight hour in June brings you many encounters with Sonnkern. The Pokémon comes from the second generation and is of the plant type. Its evolution is Sonnflora.
What bonuses are active? For sending Pokémon, you will receive double the amount of candies.
Who is this beneficial for? Neither Sonnkern nor Sonnflora are important attackers in Pokémon GO. You can use the hour primarily for the sending bonus or hope for your chance to find shinies.
Can you catch shiny Sonnkern? Yes, the shiny form of Sonnkern is already active in Pokémon GO.
Spotlight hour on June 27
Which Pokémon? In the fourth and final spotlight hour in June, you will encounter Dodu from the first generation.
What bonuses are active? For evolving Pokémon, you will receive double the amount of XP.
Who is this beneficial for? Neither Dodu nor its evolution Dodri are relevant attackers in Pokémon GO. Use the hour for the XP bonus when evolving or hope to encounter shinies.
Can you catch shiny Sonnkern? Yes, the shiny form of Dodu is already active in Pokémon GO and can be caught by you with some luck.
