What are spotlight hours? Every Tuesday evening, a spotlight hour runs from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Pokémon GO. During these 60 minutes, a Pokémon is in focus that spawns almost everywhere in the wild. At the start of each month, the developers announce which Pokémon will be the focus of events in the coming weeks.
All these events are typically accompanied by bonuses that yield more Stardust, candies, or XP. We show you here an overview of which Pokémon with which bonuses have been announced for the spotlight hours in December 2022. Update: We will show you the spotlight hours for January 2023 here.

Spotlight hour on December 6
Which Pokémon? The first spotlight hour in December 2022 features the Pokémon Felino from the second generation. You can evolve it in the game into Morlord. Both belong to the Water and Ground types.
What bonuses do you get? For catching Pokémon, you receive double the Stardust.
Who is it worth it for? Felino is not interesting as an attacker in PvE raids or PvP against other trainers. Morlord has found its niche in the Super League in PvP and plays in the upper midfield there. In raids, Morlord is also not really exciting. The event is worth it for anyone looking for strong Morlord for PvP or wanting to fill their collection with desirable Stardust.
Can you catch Shiny Felino? Yes, you can catch Shiny Felino in Pokémon GO. With luck, you encounter some during the spotlight hour. However, the chances are not increased.
Spotlight hour on December 13
Which Pokémon? The second spotlight hour in December brings you Seemops from the third generation. It belongs to the Ice and Water types and can evolve into Seejong and Walraisa.
What bonuses do you get? For catching Pokémon, you receive double the experience points.
Who is it worth it for? Seemops is unimportant as an attacker in PvE and PvP. Its evolution Seejong can at least compete in the Super League in the midfield. The true champ is the final evolution Walraisa. It plays in top positions in the Super League and Hyper League and can still hold its own in the upper midfield of the Master League. As a PvE attacker, Walraisa is okay – there are significantly stronger attackers.
The increased experience points can help you along the way to level 50.
Can you catch Shiny Seemops? Yes, you can catch Shiny Seemops in Pokémon GO. With luck, you encounter some during the spotlight hour. However, the chances are not increased.
Spotlight hour on December 20
Which Pokémon? In the third spotlight hour in December 2022, you will encounter Arktip. It belongs to the Ice type and comes from the 6th generation. Its evolution is Arktilas. There is also the regional form Hisui-Arktilas.
What bonuses do you get? For catching Pokémon, you receive double the candies.
Who is it worth it for? Arktip does not play an exciting role as an attacker. Arktilas performs in PvE in raids somewhere in the midfield. In PvP, it plays in the lower midfield in the Super and Hyper League and is slightly stronger in the Master League.
Can you catch Shiny Arktip? Yes, through the winter holidays 2022 in Pokémon GO, Shiny Arktip was unlocked.
Spotlight hour on December 27
Which Pokémon? The fourth and last spotlight hour in December 2022 brings you the Pokémon Petznief. It belongs to the Ice type and comes from the fifth generation. Its evolution is Siberio.
What bonuses do you get? For sending Pokémon, you receive double the candies.
Who is it worth it for? Petznief itself is to be completely ignored as an attacker. Its evolution Siberio unfortunately also does not excel. Neither in PvE nor in PvP is it noteworthy. You can use the spotlight hour to tidy up your collection and earn many candies.
Can you catch Shiny Petznief? Yes, you can catch the Shiny version of Petznief in Pokémon GO. With luck, you encounter one during the spotlight hour, but the chances are not increased at these events.
