Mega Evolutions in PvP Battles – What you need to know
Following the recent changes regarding Mega Evolutions, you can now also use your Mega Pokémon in the Master League for the first time during the GO Battle Day. Mega Evolutions are temporary evolutions of certain monsters, such as Gyarados or Charizard.
This is how you can use them: To access Mega Evolutions, you must Mega evolve your desired Pokémon before the battle. To do this, go to your Pokémon storage and select the desired monster. There you will have a button that allows you to trigger the evolution.
If you have already Mega evolved the Pokémon once, the subsequent evolution will be free for you. If not, you will need to spend a certain amount of Mega Energy. Depending on the monster, this amounts to between 100 and 300 Mega Energy. You can find out the exact amount on the evolution button display.
What Mega Pokémon are available? Currently, there are 21 different Mega Evolutions possible in the game. You can rely on the following Mega Pokémon:
- Mega Venusaur (Grass/Poison)
- Mega Charizard X (Fire/Dragon)
- Mega Charizard Y (Fire/Flying)
- Mega Blastoise (Water)
- Mega Beedrill (Bug/Poison)
- Mega Pidgeot (Normal/Flying)
- Mega Gyarados (Water/Dark)
- Mega Gengar (Ghost/Poison)
- Mega Kangaskhan (Normal)
- Mega Aerodactyl (Rock/Flying)
- Mega Ampharos (Electric/Dragon)
- Mega Steelix (Steel/Ground)
- Mega Houndoom (Dark/Fire)
- Mega Manectric (Electric)
- Mega Altaria (Dragon/Fairy)
- Mega Absol (Dark)
- Mega Latias (Dragon/Psychic)
- Mega Latios (Dragon/Psychic)
- Mega Lopunny (Normal/Fighting)
- Mega Venusaur (Grass/Ice)
What you need to keep in mind: Only one Mega Evolution can be active at the same time. Once triggered, it remains active for eight hours. If you want to evolve another Mega Pokémon, the previous monster’s Mega Evolution will be terminated. You will receive a corresponding notification in the game.
It’s best to consider in advance which Mega Pokémon you want to use in battle to avoid having to develop them anew each time. Additionally, you should keep in mind that Mega Pokémon can only be used in the Master League.
Is the GO Battle Day worth it?
If you enjoy playing in the GO Battle League and want to compete against other trainers, you should definitely take advantage of the GO Battle Day. Instead of the usual 25 battles you can maximally perform daily, you have the opportunity to fight 100 times on the battle day.
This obviously also increases the amount of your rewards. Additionally, you will have the chance to farm a lot of Stardust if you win the battles. So it can really pay off. With the first use of Mega Evolutions in the Master League, the battles will also become really exciting.
