In February 2023, you can expect a series of field research in Pokémon GO. We at MeinMMO will show you which tasks and rewards await you this month, where you can snag a Shiny with some luck, and which monsters are worth it.
What tasks are there? At the PokéStops in Pokémon GO, you have the chance to spin for so-called field researches every day. The tasks and corresponding rewards change every month, which is why you can also encounter new quests in February. We have summarized which ones they are and which encounters you can look forward to below.
These are the field researches in February 2023
What does the graphic show? As you probably know from the past, there will also be new field researches in February. These cover a variety of categories, such as throwing, catching, battling, or interacting with your buddy or friends, so there should be a suitable quest for every player.
With the help of the overview from LeekDuck, we have summarized all the tasks and their Pokémon encounters from February below. Monsters that you may encounter in their shiny form have also been marked in the graphic with the corresponding stars.
How to get the researches: To secure the field researches, you just need to spin the photo disk of the PokéStops. The respective quest will then be stored in your “field” view, which you can access by clicking on the binoculars.
Including AR tasks, you can currently hold up to 4 tasks there and solve them at a relaxed pace. You don’t actually have a time limit for this. However, you can only receive new tasks if you have space there. To create space, you need to either redeem or delete the quests.
These are research stamps: Ideally, you should redeem at least one quest daily, as you will receive a so-called research stamp for this. You will see this in the overview above the tasks. After collecting 7 stamps, a research breakthrough awaits you, which will reward you with items and stardust, as well as another encounter with a Pokémon.

These 8 monsters are the most worthwhile
Trasla: The Psychic and Fairy Pokémon from the 3rd generation can evolve into Gardevoir and Gallade via Kirlia. The latter can benefit from high attack values and are among the best attackers in Pokémon GO.
In addition, you can secure the corresponding Mega Evolution for Gardevoir with the start of the Valentine’s Day event on February 8, which is one of the best Fairy attackers in the game.
Kaumalat: The Dragon and Ground Pokémon Kaumalat is usually rarely found in the wild. However, this little monster has a strong evolution in Knakrack, which can perform well, especially in raids.
With a moveset of Mud Shot and Earth Power, it is one of the best Ground attackers in the game and can also stand out as a strong Dragon Pokémon. Therefore, a corresponding specimen should not be missing in your team. With 3 great throws in a row, the task is also a bit more challenging.
Tanhel: Another strong monster is Metagross, the evolution of Tanhel. The Steel and Psychic Pokémon also scores with high values in attack and defense, making it one of the strongest Steel attackers. With a moveset of Zen Headbutt and Psychic, it is also one of the best Psychic attackers in the game.
And even in the PvP battles of the Master League, it can shine with an attack combination of Bullet Punch, Meteor Mash, and Earthquake. However, you need a bit of luck with the tasks to receive Tanhel, as this monster shares the reward with Barschwa and Perlu. So it is a chance which monster you get.
Dratini: The Dragon Pokémon Dratini comes from the first generation and has a strong evolution in Dragoran. With the attacks Dragon Tail and Outrage, it can rank among the 10 best Dragon attackers. In the Master League, Dragoran, with Fire Blast, Dragon Claw, and Power Whip, is also among the top candidates.
Karpador: Another monster you should not miss is Karpador. The Pokémon from the first generation has a strong evolution in Garados. The Water and Flying Pokémon is one of the best Water attackers in the game.
It also has a Mega Evolution, which is even stronger and thus excellent for use in raids. And even in the Master League, Garados can stand out.
By the way: If you already have enough strong Garados in your team, you can alternatively use the quest with Karpador to complete your Angler medal. For this, you need to catch 1,000 large specimens to get it to platinum.

Geronimatz: Another rare monster with a strong evolution is the Normal and Flying Pokémon Geronimatz. It can shine alongside Washakwil as one of the best Flying Pokémon. Furthermore, you can also catch Geronimatz in its shiny form with some luck.
Since the monster usually only hatches from eggs occasionally in the game, the chances of getting a shiny specimen are rather low. So if you want to secure a Shiny, you can try your luck through the researches. However, you need to walk 4 kilometers to complete it.
Relaxo: The Normal Pokémon from the first generation is especially suitable as a strong gym defender due to its high endurance values. Furthermore, the Pokémon is also very popular among shiny hunters, as it is rarely seen outside of certain events. With two great throws and a bit of luck, you might be able to secure a shiny from the research.
Pandir: A monster that you can currently only receive from the research tasks is Pandir. The monster comes from the 3rd generation and has no pre- or evolutions. However, it has 9 different fur patterns that change monthly.
Thus, it is especially interesting for collectors and shiny hunters. In February, you can find it with pattern 8.
