The friends feature in Pokémon GO is likely to get a change soon: According to reports from a data miner, there will soon be so-called lucky friends.
Why are there guaranteed lucky Pokémon? The data miner Chrales found several text passages in the code of Pokémon GO that are marked “lucky friends”.
He also found information that guarantees you will get a lucky Pokémon when you trade with these friends next time.
What is known about lucky friends
What was found? A total of 3 text passages were found by the data miner:
- X and you became lucky friends
- Your next trade with this friend will be a lucky Pokémon
- Your next trade together will be a lucky Pokémon. This means that both traded Pokémon will become lucky Pokémon
What could this mean? Apparently, there will soon be guaranteed lucky Pokémon. It could be that you can “upgrade” a friend to a lucky friend.
So when trading, you will likely receive a message that the next trade will be a lucky Pokémon.
Is this official? So far, this has only been found in the code. The functionality is also not known. Everything remains speculative for now.
Whether this feature will ever come remains to be seen. However, the find suggests it.
What do I get from lucky Pokémon? These special Pokémon cost half as much Stardust to level up. In addition, each lucky Pokémon has at least 80% IV.
What does the new feature bring? Through the feature, you could specifically make a Pokémon into a lucky Pokémon. If you get the message that the next trade will be lucky, you could specifically choose a Pokémon that you want to have as a lucky Pokémon.
There are already guaranteed lucky Pokémon: You can already get guaranteed lucky Pokémon right now. However, you must have less than 10 lucky Pokémon in total. If you trade a Pokémon from July or August 2016, it will be guaranteed lucky.
With the new feature, however, you could also get more than 10 guaranteed lucky Pokémon.
Who found the feature? The data miner Chrales regularly searches the code of Pokémon GO for updates. For example, he previously found the Pikachu and Eevee with floral decorations, which were later released.
Recently, the data miner found new Pokémon in the code. However, these have not yet been released.
