In Pokémon GO the Steel Event is currently running and brings you numerous spawns. We at MeinMMO have taken a look at which ones are particularly worth it and show you where you can get them.
What event is this? Since today, the 16th of September, the Steel Event in Pokémon GO is running under the name “Test Your Nerves”. This event is all about Steel Pokémon, which can be found everywhere in the wild and in raids. The contents of the 7 km eggs have also been changed with the start of the event.
In the coming days, you will have the chance to encounter some strong specimens. We have summarized which 8 specimens you should particularly look out for below.
We have based the ranking order on the respective locations (raids, wild, eggs) in the game.
How long does the Steel Event last? The Steel Event started today, on September 16th, 2022, at 10:00 AM local time and runs until September 21st, 2022, at 8:00 PM local time.
1. Mega Steelix
Why is this monster worth it? Mega Steelix is the temporary evolution of the Steel and Rock Pokémon Steelix. It can also stand out as one of the best attackers in Pokémon GO without its mega evolution. However, its Mega Evolution is even stronger. So Steelix is worth it twice over.
Where can it be found? With the start of the Steel Event, Mega Steelix is debuting in raids. This way you can obtain the corresponding Mega Energy and temporarily develop your own Steelix. Additionally, you can catch Steelix after the raid, possibly even as shiny.
If you already have enough Mega Energy and are just looking for a strong specimen, you should keep an eye out for Steelix’s pre-evolution, Onix, in the wild. It can be developed into Steelix via Steelix’s evolution. This way you save valuable raid passes and also have a chance at a shiny.

2. Katagami
Why is this monster worth it? Another new addition to the game is Katagami. The Ultra Beast from Generation 7 belongs to the Grass and Steel types. The monster has an enormous attack value and inflicts significant damage on opponents with a moveset of Leaf Blade and Leaf Tornado. Hence, Katagami is ranked among the best Grass attackers in the game.
Where can it be found? Katagami can be found in level 5 raids in the Northern Hemisphere until September 27th. However, it is not yet available as shiny in the game.
With these counters, you can defeat Katagami as quickly as possible.
3. Scyther
Why is this monster worth it? The Bug and Flying Pokémon Scyther comes from the 1st generation and can be evolved into Scizor, which has a temporary Mega Evolution. With a moveset of Bullet Punch and Iron Head, and a high attack value, Scizor ranks among the best Steel Pokémon in the game.
However, even as a Bug Pokémon, it is worth using. Mega Scizor is even stronger, and therefore should not be overlooked as one of the best attackers in Pokémon GO. If you’re still looking for a candidate for raids, this is an opportunity to take advantage of.
Where can it be found? You can find Scyther in level 1 raids in the coming days. With a bit of luck, you might even encounter a shiny specimen.
4. Shuckle
Why is this monster worth it? If you are looking for a strong Pokémon for the GO Battle League, you should not miss out on Shuckle. The Rock and Steel Pokémon from Generation 4 can evolve into Bastiodon, which can leverage a strong defense value.
This makes it one of the top contenders in the Super League for PvP battles with a moveset of Rock Slide, Stone Edge, and Flamethrower. However, it is not particularly strong in attack, which makes it unsuitable for raids.
Where can it be found? You can currently find Shuckle in level 1 raids. If you’re lucky, you might even encounter it as shiny there.
5. Beldum
Why is this monster worth it? Beldum is also particularly appealing due to its strong evolution. You can develop the Steel and Psychic Pokémon into Metang and then into Metagross, which is currently the best Steel attacker in the game. As one of the strongest Psychic attackers, it can also show off with a moveset of Zen Headbutt and Psychic.
For Battle League players, Metagross can also impress in the Master League and is a good alternative with a moveset of Bullet Punch, Meteor Mash, and Earthquake.
Where can it be found? Beldum spawns during the entire Steel Event in the wild. You can also encounter it in level 1 raids, as well as in the rewards of event research. With a bit of luck, you might even run into a shiny specimen.
6. Rotomurf
Why is this monster worth it? Rotomurf is the pre-evolution of the Ground and Steel Pokémon Excadrill. It has high attack and stamina values as well as strong movesets. With the attack combination of Metal Claw and Iron Head, it proves to be a strong Steel attacker and is also among the best Ground attackers in the game with a moveset of Mud Shot and Drill Run.
Where can it be found? You can secure Rotomurf in the wild during the event period. However, it is not yet available as shiny in the game.
7. Galarian Stunfisk
Why is this monster worth it? Another strong contender for the GO Battle League is Galarian Stunfisk. The Ground and Steel Pokémon shines in the Super League with a moveset of Mud Shot, Rock Slide, and Earthquake. It also performs well in the Hyper League.
Where can it be found? You can find Galarian Stunfisk during the Steel Event with a bit of luck in the wild. Additionally, it can hatch from 7 km eggs that you receive from your friends’ gifts during the event period. You may even get a shiny during this.
8. Riolu
Why is this monster worth it? A monster that is highly sought after by many players is Riolu. This Fighting-type Pokémon typically hatches from 10 km eggs, making it relatively rare in the game. However, it has quite a strong evolution: Lucario.
Lucario benefits from a high attack value and leads the list of best Fighting attackers in Pokémon GO with a moveset of Counter and Aura Sphere. It can also be a solid alternative in the Super and Hyper Leagues.
Where can it be found? Riolu hatches from the 7 km eggs that you can get from your friends’ gifts during the Steel Event. With a bit of luck, you might encounter shiny Riolu.

Which Pokémon are also worth it?
In addition to the mentioned Pokémon that everyone should have in their Pokémon storage, other interesting monsters also spawn during the Steel Event:
- Togedemaru: This Pokémon celebrated its debut in the game with the start of the event, but it is not particularly strong and is thus merely an option for the Super League.
- Flunkey: is only occasionally found in the game and is therefore rather rare. If you are looking for a shiny, you should try your luck in the level 3 raids.
- Kaguron: The Ultra Beast can be found for the first time in the level 5 raids in the Southern Hemisphere alongside Katagami and can only be obtained through remote raids. The monster is not particularly strong, so it is mainly interesting for the Pokédex.
