When is the event? The closing event for GO Fest 2022 will take place on Saturday, August 27, 2022, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
Who can participate? As during the global GO Fest in June, all trainers can participate worldwide in this event as well. However, it is again the case that you can only access all the content of the GO Fest with a valid event ticket.
For trainers without a ticket, there will only be limited spawns and bonuses. Here we have summarized the advantages of the event with and without a ticket.
But whether you ultimately buy a ticket or not, you should make the most of the time leading up to the event to prepare properly. To ensure that the finale is a complete success for you, we have summarized 5 important tips below.
1. Make space for new Pokémon
In order to catch the Pokémon that will spawn that day, you should already start sorting your Pokémon storage. For trainers who want to play all day, we recommend making space for at least 500 monsters.
For sorting, it’s best to use the tag and filter functions in the game. By entering “0*,1*,2*”, you will directly see all monsters that have a maximum of 2 stars.
If you want to sort out more Pokémon during the event, we recommend the additional filter “Alter0”. This will show you only monsters that are not older than 24 hours. If you combine this with the input of strength, for example 0*, you can create space in your bag with just a few clicks.
By the way: If you want to snag extra candies when sending Pokémon, you should act fast. During the spotlight hour with Nidoran (male) on August 23, you will receive a candy bonus for sending Pokémon.
2. Gather supplies
During the closing event, you can expect plenty of wild spawns and interesting raid bosses. For this reason, you should also be equipped with enough and especially the right items. We recommend already acquiring a sufficient supply of the following items.
Balls
The most important items during the GO Fest finale are, of course, balls. If you run out of them, you can no longer catch monsters and will have to restock. That’s why you should use the time until the start to prepare a sufficient supply.
For those who want to enjoy the event to the fullest and play all day long, it’s best to start with at least 600 balls. With these, you can play for a while and comfortably restock.

Berries
In addition to balls, various berries will also be important during the event. Especially those participating in raids should have enough golden razz berries and silver pinap berries ready.
With the help of regular pinap berries, you can also secure double candies when catching monsters. This is especially useful for Pokémon you do not encounter often outside of this event but have a strong evolution, such as Axew.
To make capturing some monsters easier, you can also rely on a few razz berries and nanab berries.
Raid Passes, Revives & Potions
Raid Passes: As you are already familiar from the GO Fest in June, there will also be some coveted raid bosses at the closing event. Besides a new chance at Shiny Axew, the Ultra Beasts Shabelle, Masskito, and Voltriant will be available for all players for the first time.
If you don’t want to miss your chance, make sure to have enough raid passes available. Trainers who have acquired an event ticket will also receive 9 free raid passes by spinning the photo disc at gyms that day.
Revives & Potions: An adequate number of revives and potions is also crucial for participating in raids. It’s best to rely on Max Revives and Max Potions, so the best attackers in Pokémon GO are ready for the next battle with just a few clicks.
Incense & Hatchers
Incense: Players who have an event ticket can benefit from exclusive spawns from incense throughout the event. This will last for 2 hours during the event period. So if you don’t want to miss these spawns, make sure to use incense. To play all day, a total of 4 will be needed.
Hatchers: Another bonus that only ticket holders can benefit from is reduced hatch distance. This bonus is particularly useful for eggs with a long distance, like 10 or 12 km eggs. If you still have some, you should also keep a few hatchers ready.

3. Organize your raids together
During the closing event, there will be numerous raids in Pokémon GO. In the different habitats, you will encounter the Ultra Beasts Shabelle, Masskito, Voltriant, and Axew in level 5 raids.
But other interesting monsters like Axew, Snorlax, or Salamence are also waiting for you in the gyms. To avoid regretting forgetting one of the bosses later, you should already think about which monsters you would like to have.
Also familiarize yourself with their type effectiveness, i.e., their respective strengths and weaknesses, so you can use the best counters in battle.
Also, make arrangements for joint raids with your friends, because that way especially the difficult raids are easier and quicker to complete. Those with an event ticket can also benefit from an additional XP bonus when raiding on-site.
Unlike the level 4 raids during community days, you can also play from a distance or invite friends from other regions to your raids during the GO Fest finale.
4. Plan your route
To catch as many Pokémon as possible on this day and thus increase your chances of getting one or more shinies, you should definitely go outside. Movement will also spawn more monsters from your incense.
Consider where you want to spend the day and which route is suitable for playing. Keep in mind that it is wise to have enough PokéStops and gyms there. These not only bring you more spawns but also allow you to refill your supplies and ultimately defeat the raid bosses. But also coordinate with your friends about this.
5. Remember equipment and refreshments
If you will be outside all day catching Pokémon, you should also think about the right equipment. In addition to a fully charged smartphone, you should definitely bring a power bank to charge your phone on the go.
You should also not forget food and drinks. This way, you won’t waste valuable event time having to buy something on-site. In warm weather, it’s also important to apply sun protection and best to protect yourself from the sun while on the go.
