In Pokémon GO is the 2nd phase of the “Illuminating Legends Y” event started. We show you which bonuses you should particularly take advantage of this week.
How long does the event last? Until May 31, you can take advantage of the event in Pokémon GO. At 8:00 PM local time, the bonuses and spawns will then disappear.
Until then, you can look forward to new quests, spawns, and raid bosses in Pokémon GO. There is also a new shiny that you can catch.
3 things worth doing in the new event
Complete raids: Some exciting raid bosses are waiting for you in the event. These include Alolan Vulpix and Galar Zigzagoon at the level-1 raids. Both Pokémon are hardly found in the wild and can be shiny – Galar Zigzagoon has only been available since the current event, so the Pokémon is interesting for everyone.
In addition, a strong raid boss Yveltal awaits you, for which the raid passes are worth it.
Another reason is the field research “Win a Raid,” which rewards you with Galar Zigzagoon. So it’s best to complete a raid of Galar Zigzagoon and carry out the appropriate 3 three times. This way, with just one raid pass, you have 4 chances at the new shiny.
Complete the quests: Not only the mentioned Zigzagoon quest is interesting. There are 5 other event field researches that you can grab. The complete list is here:
- Take a snapshot of a fairy Pokémon
- Reward: Encounter with an Eevee (can be shiny)
- Defeat 2 Team GO Rocket Grunts
- Reward: Encounter with an Umbreon
- Earn 3 hearts with your buddy
- Reward: Encounter with an Eevee (can be shiny)
- Earn 5 hearts with your buddy
- Reward: Encounter with a Clefairy (can be shiny)
- Rescue 3 shadow Pokémon
- Reward: Encounter with an Espeon
- Win a raid
- Reward: Encounter with a Galar Zigzagoon (can be shiny)
With two easy quests, you can secure Eevee, which you can also evolve into Sylveon for the first time since the event started. Thus, in the best case, you can secure an Eevee with good IVs from the quest and evolve it directly.

But the quests around Umbreon and Espeon are also useful, as these Pokémon are normally only obtained by walking 10 kilometers or once through the name trick. You can save this effort through the quests.
Catch many Pokémon: As a big bonus for the event, there is triple the amount of XP when catching Pokémon. So if you still need XP for the journey to level 50, you should take advantage of the event diligently. If you play for a bit longer during the day, you should use a lucky egg. Then you even get six times the amount of XP per catch.
If you use the catching trick and are quick at throwing, you can collect thousands of XP in no time.
