Since the beginning of May, the nostalgia challenge has been running in Pokémon GO and each week a different generation is in the spotlight. Many monsters appear in the wild. However, some Pokémon are missing that could significantly improve the event.
This is the nostalgia challenge: May is all about the nostalgia challenge. Every Friday the generation changes, and almost exclusively monsters from the respective generation then appear in the wild, in eggs, and in raids.
So far, we have already had the weeks of the Kanto and Johto regions, namely the first and second generation.
Here lies a problem: In the respective weeks, a multitude of different Pokémon from the regions appeared, but some interesting monsters remained missing.
Therefore, we present to you here some Pokémon that would refresh this event and make the spawns significantly more interesting.
These spawns would have benefited the Kanto region
Here’s what the spawns looked like: During this week, the starters Bulbasaur, Squirtle, and Charmander appeared the most. Some shiny checks like Shellder, Mankey, Abra, or Zubat were also available.
However, some rarer shinys were missing and did not appear at all or only very rarely. They would have significantly improved the event:
- Houndour
- Staryu
- Gastly
- Sandshrew
- Nidoran
- Oddish
- Krabby
- Magnemite
- Magmar
- Quagsire
These are Pokémon that are rather rarely encountered outside of events at least in Germany. It would have been much more interesting if they had appeared more frequently in the event.
These spawns would have benefited the Johto region
Here’s what the spawns looked like: In the Johto event, the starters Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Totodile appeared most frequently. However, there were also Pokémon that were difficult to catch, such as Beedrill, Sudowoodo, Dratini, or Taddursa.
There were many ball-eaters, which led to massive ball shortages especially during the Corona times. Instead, some monsters appeared hardly at all, even though they are much easier to catch and/or quite rare as shinys:
- Teddiursa
- Chinchou
- Marill
- Sunkern
- Yanma
- Budew
- Skorupi
- Houndoom
- Patrat
- Stantler
Especially the two new shinys Chinchou and Teddiursa would fit perfectly into this event. Few players have them as shinys, and they would have been easy to hunt during the event. Unfortunately, they were rather rare to find.
Why were these spawns there? On reddit, trainers report that the spawns adapted to the respective biome. Thus, all Pokémon from the other regions were removed from the spawn pool, and only the respective region remained.
All Pokémon that could be found, except for Pikachu and the starters, are also frequently found outside of events in the respective biome. The Pokémon mentioned here appear rather rarely outside of events, which is why they are now hardly found in the event either.
Here’s the situation now: The Hoenn event is currently running, and the spawns don’t really look better here either. One can therefore expect that the Sinnoh event next Friday will also look similar.
On our shiny list for Pokémon GO, you can see all available shinys. You can also find out which shinys from the respective regions appear rather rarely.
