In Pokémon GO there are many medals that you can collect. Some of them can even be done without extra effort on the side.
What are medals? Medals are achievements in Pokémon GO that you receive for reaching certain milestones. There are 4 different levels for each medal: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum.
What do I need medals for? Primarily, medals are for yourself and for comparing your successes with your friends. On the way to level 50, you will also need to collect a certain number of Gold and Platinum medals from time to time to level up. Additionally, there are some medals that can bring you rewards in the form of accessories or catch bonuses for certain Pokémon types.
While some medals are hard to obtain and there is even one that takes several years, there are also some that you can earn while playing casually. We have compiled those for you.
Medals that can be earned casually
Jogger and Backpacker: You receive these medals by walking 10/100/1,000/10,000 km (Jogger) or by visiting 100/1,000/2,000/50,000 PokéStops (Backpacker). You automatically fill these medals when you are regularly out and about turning PokéStops.
Collector and Breeder: You also receive these medals automatically just by playing the game. For the Collector, you need to catch 30/500/2,000/50,000 Pokémon, and for the Breeder, you need to hatch 10/100/1,000/2,500 eggs.
Triathlete: If you catch a Pokémon and spin a PokéStop every day, you will achieve a Pokémon Catch Series and a PokéStop Spin Series after 7 days. This is what the Triathlete medal is about. Here you must have achieved 1/10/50/100 7-day series.
Pikachu Fan: For this medal, you need to catch 3/50/300/1,000 Pikachu. Since Pikachu is often available in events in the game, this medal can also be earned well on the side. With this medal, you can even unlock accessories.
Stage Star: To obtain this medal, you need to reach the status Best Buddy
with 1/2/3/20 of your friends. If you open or send gifts every day, this medal will come automatically.
Videographer: If you take a photo of your buddy every day, it may happen that a Pokémon photobombs your picture. When this happens 10/50/200/400 times, you have mastered the different levels of this medal.
Collector of Tiny Pokémon and Collector of Huge Pokémon: If you collect 5/25/100/500 XXS- and XXL-Pokémon respectively, you achieve the different levels of this medal. It goes even faster if you evolve the respective Pokémon.
More medals that can be earned casually
There are more medals that can also be earned with a little effort on the side. These include the following:
- Berry Master: Distribute a total of 10/100/1,000/15,000 berries to Pokémon in gyms. Instead of throwing them away, you should rather feed them. For this, you will even be rewarded with Stardust or candies.
- Picnicker: Use lure modules so that other trainers can catch 5/25/500/2,500 Pokémon. Especially during events, this can be worthwhile. In rural areas, this may be a bit more challenging due to a lack of players.
- Redeemer: Rescue 5/50/500/1,000 Shadow Pokémon.
- Holidaymaker: Spin 10/100/1,000/2,000 different PokéStops.
- Gym Leader: Defend gyms with your Pokémon for a total of 10/100/1,000/15,000 hours (here you can also unlock accessories).
- Pokémon Ranger: Complete 10/100/1,000/2,500 field research tasks.
- Gentleman: Trade 10/100/1,000/2,500 Pokémon with your trainer friends.
- Pilot: Trade Pokémon over a total distance of 1,000/100,000/1,000,000/10,000,000 km. You will automatically complete this medal when you regularly trade Pokémon.
