Helldivers 2 introduces new toys for its soldiers with every new war bond, and one of these toys is the Warp-Backpack. With it, players can cause a lot of mischief, but one of these antics went too far for the developers. They are putting a stop to the glitch.
What glitch are we talking about? It is the Warp Glitch with the Pelican – the extraction aircraft. To execute the glitch, soldiers must have the Warp-Backpack equipped.
With it, you must then board the Pelican and escape from your mission. Just before the Pelican is about to take off and the ending animation is triggered, you press the teleport button and appear outside the Pelican.
The result: The Pelican disappears into the sky and your team escapes while you are still on the planet and can walk around. The community took the glitch as a joke, but Über-Earth did not find it funny at all. They have now reacted with a patch to prevent you from causing mischief.
“You’re done, it’s time to go home.”
What has changed? In Patch 01.003.202, which has recently been released, there was the note that LIFT-182, the Warp-Pack, will be disabled near the landing zone of the Pelican. Therefore, you can no longer use this.
With the developers’ comment “You’re done, it’s time to go home” Arrowhead emphasizes how important it is for every soldier to take their place in the Pelican. However, the change is still received with mixed feelings.
What do fans say about the change? Many Helldivers take the change with humor and joke in the comments on Reddit, but some of them also question the team’s priorities and why such a harmless glitch is fixed before other more serious issues. Here’s what can be heard:
- “I get that there were synchronization issues, and I assume this is a way to prevent them. But man, I’m going to miss it. Damn.” – EvilSqueegee
- “I mean, I don’t mind that they fixed the issue, but the problem is that they prioritized this over all the other issues we have that are worse.” – BRSaura
- “Well, this has direct and significant impacts on gameplay, so I’m not personally surprised. Combined with the fact that it’s easier to fix, it makes sense.” – Heskelator
- “They have so many issues to solve and are actively spending time fixing such trivial things that don’t affect the player experience.” – Jstar338
So you had your time with the antics, but Über-Earth needs you on the battlefield and not cracking jokes. It’s good that Arrowhead is now back from vacation, as their operation is on fire and fans are demanding improvements: The developers of Helldivers 2 are back from vacation after two weeks, and their operation is on fire, as the brave warriors of Über-Earth demand improvements
