Many players have been complaining for several weeks about the state of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and this is now dividing the community.
What is happening with Black Ops 6 right now? A lot. A part of the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 community is currently particularly dissatisfied. There are several problems that are taking the fun away from some players.
- The matches are full of cheaters – at least in the ranked mode, where you cannot disable crossplay.
- A part of the community believes in the so-called skill-based damage and lets the theory take away their fun.
- Matchmaking frustrates players, who leave lobbies to have more fun.
- The aim assist is still so strong that “mouse and keyboard” players often see themselves at a disadvantage. Recently, when a CoD world champion wanted to prove that the aim assist is not that strong, his attempt backfired completely.
Additionally, there is criticism of the maps, overly colorful skins and effects, and new microtransactions. However, the biggest problem is clearly the many cheaters that Black Ops 6 simply cannot control. Nevertheless, some players enjoy the shooter and are annoyed that the community is constantly complaining.
“Stop having fun”
What are the players saying? Some players clearly express on social media that they are annoyed by the negative atmosphere within the community.
For example, a user posted a meme on Reddit, in which a character shouts “Stop having fun” while 4 other characters are playing Black Ops 6. He wrote, “the current state of BO6.” The post gathered nearly two thousand upvotes and received support in the comments as well. One user noted, for instance, that he would actually have even more fun. However, there are still many comments listing numerous problems, even though they claim to have fun with the game.
Another user addressed the critical videos of many YouTubers in his post on Reddit. He is tired of every video currently having titles like “COD is unplayable” or “They did it again, you won’t believe it.” This post also gathered around 500 upvotes.
In the comments, one player notes that he has never seen so many friends and family members playing CoD before Black Ops 6, even though everyone says the game is dead.
Why are they having fun despite the problems? Call of Duty appeals to a broad audience of players. Besides the core gamers who play a lot and are thus inevitably confronted with the problems, the shooter also attracts many casual gamers – especially on consoles.
A player who only plays for an hour on the PS5 from the sofa after work and avoids ranked will not necessarily encounter or be disturbed by the major problems of the game. Cheaters are likely less active in these lobbies, the skins don’t matter to the person, they themselves use the aim assist, and skill-based damage and other community myths may be completely unknown.
A casual player often does not engage with the game so much that the problems are actively perceived and criticized. They just play and have fun. Nevertheless, it is clear that Call of Duty – at least on Steam – has lost many players in recent weeks: Call of Duty loses almost as many players in a month as it gained with the release of Black Ops 6 on Steam
