- Footage of action and motorized fun with planes, tanks, or helicopters can be seen, along with explosive gadgets (yes, including robot dogs).
- All of this provides a good impression of what players can expect in the large-scale battles.
- This is garnished with many different scenarios: ice deserts, sand deserts, urban canyons, as well as close combat action.
- Additionally, natural disasters also make an appearance in the trailer. A tornado destroys a skyscraper – the spectacular destruction is already exciting and typical for the series.
- The near-future setting also receives a lot of praise.
This is how much the trailer is being received: The reveal trailer is not even a day old (as of June 10 at 8 a.m.), but the first reactions are very positive:
- YouTube thumbs clearly speak a language: 628,000 users gave the official reveal trailer of Battlefield 2042 a thumbs up – 12,000 players opted to give a thumbs down like a Roman emperor.
- The official reveal trailer of the direct predecessor Battlefield 5 was received quite differently: to date, the clip has received 361,944 thumbs up and devastating 579,575 thumbs down on YouTube.
- Viewers make fun of this. The top comment on the new trailer is: “This trailer received more likes in one hour than Battlefield 5 ever did.”
- For many viewers, it’s the mix: “I love how serious the setting feels, but all the wacky things provide a cool contrast and remind you: oh, this is a Battlefield game.”

In the Battlefield subreddit (via reddit), the thread with the reveal trailer has gathered over 26,000 upvotes and in 4,500 comments, players express their anticipation, analyze small references, and celebrate what they’ve seen. Users there say, “This is how you do a reveal trailer!”
The reveal is described in such a way that the trailer shows all the possibilities that players will have in the game. When EA announced more information about the new shooter following the trailer, the hype train took off at full speed for many.

“Show me a rendezook!” Particularly one scene in the reveal trailer made Battlefield players go wild:
- At minute 3, we see in the trailer how a soldier soars upward with his jet while being pursued by an enemy aircraft.
- The pilot ejects from his jet and pulls out a rocket launcher. A devastating shot causes the enemy aircraft to explode.
- The now free-flying pilot glides back to his jet and retreats into the safety of the cockpit of his plane to take off as the victor.
Sounds like an exaggerated action scene that could come from Fast and Furious – but this is a genuine “rendezook”. Gamers use this term to describe the maneuver described. And yes, players have been attempting this since Battlefield 3 (2005) regularly. Well, at least they try and celebrate it when it actually works.
That the trailer incorporates such glorified moments from the community and celebrates the absurdity of Battlefield is very well received on reddit:
Several threads and countless comments celebrate the rendezook in the trailer. A Russian YouTuber reacts most emotionally to the iconic maneuver.
As the two jets climb into the sky, he looks expectantly at the screen and chants multiple times, “show me a rendezook!” When the trailer delivers, all dams break. The YouTuber gestures wildly and even starts to cry (out of joy?). The clip of that garners over 4,000 upvotes in no time and resonates with many:
The rendezook is just one of many examples that the trailer showcases for such “player-created action”. We also see scenes in which, for example, a buggy is repurposed to take down a helicopter. This big sandbox with all its possibilities is the most important feature of the multiplayer for Battlefield fans.
This, along with the modern setting, ensures that players got to see exactly what they love about Battlefield. At least in multiplayer, as the new shooter completely forgoes a single-player campaign (at least at launch).
