In FIFA 23, there was apparently a brief adjustment of various prices of high-value cards. Some players sold them seemingly at the wrong time.
This was the problem: In Ultimate Team, you can offer players on the transfer market. You can choose the price quite freely – however, there are price ranges within which you must operate.
If a player has a minimum price of 10,000 coins and a maximum price of 200,000 coins, anything in between is possible.
These price ranges vary from player to player. Particularly popular cards have very high maximum prices set. For example, if you want to offer the TOTW card of the strong defender Tomori, you can set a price between 30,750 coins and 600,000 coins, on average the player currently goes for about 269,000 coins (via futbin).
However, on the morning of November 24, there was apparently a brief adjustment of this price range for Tomori and some other TOTW cards. The maximum price of some cards was suddenly significantly lower than it usually was. But not everyone noticed this – and that’s why some players apparently sold too cheaply.
Players list cards too cheaply because the maximum price is too low
Players report: On both Twitter and the FIFA subreddit, several players have come forward stating that some of their TOTW cards had suddenly adjusted price ranges in their club.
Tomori is one such example – for a short time, you could only offer him for a maximum of 32,500 coins, which is about one-tenth of his “usual” value. Other examples included the TOTW card of Neymar or Theo Hernandez (via reddit).
How do you lose coins? That the maximum price of such cards is suddenly reduced to such a large extent is unusual. Players typically do not expect this.
If you are selling just a single card manually, you notice quite quickly when the maximum price is set too low. However, many players are actively trading in FIFA 23, and it can happen that you list a lot of players on the transfer list.
For example, you could take a Tomori and offer him for 270,000 coins for an hour, repeatedly, until he is sold. Here, you can use the “relist all” option. Then, the cards will be offered for the same price you chose before – unless the price range has been adjusted.
If the selected price exceeds the maximum price, the maximum price will automatically be used. You do receive a standard warning when you choose this option that price ranges can be adjusted – but if you’re not careful, you might just click it away.
In the worst case, the Tomori that you used to always sell for 270,000 will be listed for 32,500 – and then it’s gone.
And this apparently happened to some players with their expensive TOTW cards, which they were used to offering as usual, but which then were sold for the adjusted price.
Players are also reporting in the FIFA subreddit. “I sold my Inform-Dembélé for 20,000 and Inform-Ben-Yedder for 10,000 by clicking ‘relist’, because I didn’t notice the new maximum. It cost me half my coins,” writes one user (via reddit). Another player also reports losing over 200,000 coins by selling Salah too cheaply.
At the same time, players from the other side are also reporting. They were surprised to have obtained some players unusually cheaply.
Meanwhile, it seems that the original problem has been resolved and the price ranges are back to normal. But those who sold at the wrong moment will likely be frustrated.
