Today marks the start of the summer event in Final Fantasy XIV. As part of this, there was also a small hotfix that comes off as oddly specific.
What was in the hotfix? A small, inconspicuous post on the Lodestone points to a hotfix that was implemented today, August 13, 2025. It states:
“The following issue has been resolved: In Sinus Ardorum, a player could be disconnected from the server when offering an item for sale on the market and setting the price between 44,442 Gil and 49,087 Gil.”
Sinus Ardorum is part of the Cosmo Explorations, which were introduced into the game with Patch 7.21. With the latest Patch 7.3, vendor bells were added there, allowing players to sell their goods through their retainers and offer them on the market. These bells have apparently caused some trouble for certain players.
The mere thought that players must have found this bug at this specific price point is curious enough. Therefore, fans on Reddit are wondering how this bug was tracked down.
“Respect to the programmer who figured this out within a week, lol”
What does the community say about it? Players on Reddit are discussing how the bug might have occurred and how the developers could have figured out what caused it.
Many mainly see the location of the vendor bell as the trigger for the bug, which doesn’t explain the oddly specific price range that was evidently affected. However, since there were no vendor bells and thus no connection to the market board before Patch 7.3, it might have played a role.
Other users in the comments report that they also experienced this bug with prices outside of this range. However, it was always associated with that one specific vendor bell in Sinus Ardorum. Many players view the whole situation with humor:
- loopdaploop writes: “Honestly crazy when you think about how they even managed to ascertain that this was the cause of the DCs.”
- VGPowerlord wonders: “My first thought is that the game treated the price as some sort of error code, but… why only in this particular zone?”
- Foxk jokes: “But 42,069 is safe? Thank God.”
Unfortunately, the hotfix post does not mention why exactly this bug occurred and why it specifically affects this price range. Nevertheless, it is remarkable that the cause of this oddly specific bug has been found, which is also celebrated within the community.
Another change introduced with Patch 7.3 that initially went unnoticed caused further excitement. Because it made a long-useless item suddenly useful and almost indispensable. So check your bags, maybe there’s still one hidden there: Players of Final Fantasy XIV have been carrying a useless item for 10 years, now it’s suddenly super important
