In Diablo 4 there is a treasure goblin that spawns so rarely that many players are convinced: No one has seen it. But a developer clarifies that it has indeed been found.
The treasure goblins appear randomly in Diablo 4 and can drop really powerful loot. Unlike almost all other enemies in Diablo, goblins do not fight but flee. As part of the “March of the Goblins” event, Blizzard introduced six new types of goblins into the game in March 2025. Each of them has its special loot.
What kind of treasure goblin is this? The probably rarest treasure goblin is “Fedric the Shimmering Elder,” who is guaranteed to have a Glorious Spark and a mythic item in his bag. He shimmers in purple-pink, the same colors as the coveted Mythic Uniques. Since the “March of the Goblins” event, the community has been discussing Fedric. Many say: This is probably the rarest enemy in video game history.
In the last “Campfire Chat” livestream on September 16, 2025, the development team dispelled the rumors. Yes, the treasure goblin that drops Mythic Uniques really exists. And he has already been spotted multiple times.
“A handful of people” has found the rarest goblin
This is what the developers say about the treasure goblin: In the YouTube livestream, the community asked whether anyone has found the rarest treasure goblin during the “March of the Goblins” events or if it is just a ghost.
Game designer Charles Dunn explained that the goblin definitely exists – especially during the event: “I don’t have the exact number in front of me right now, but it was definitely not zero. For sure not. There were a handful of people who actually found the rarest of all treasure goblins.“
And game designer Aislyn Hall recalled the discussions in the community on Reddit: “It was really funny, it looked like someone had found the rarest goblin. But there was no solid proof. You sat there thinking: Hmm, I don’t know if I should believe you.”
“Fedric the Shimmering Elder” is therefore not a ghost but truly exists. Have you had the luck to encounter him and collect his valuable loot?
The livestream mainly focused on the new season and the fresh content. But the coveted Mythic Uniques that Fedric carries were also a topic. New Mythics or adjustments to existing items are not currently planned.
