Some players called for a boycott of Apex Legends in August. Apparently, no one wants to join the boycott. Player numbers on Steam remain excellent, and Apex is one of the top games on the platform.
What should the boycott look like? As #NoApexAugust already reveals, participants in the boycott should not play Apex Legends in August. The hashtag spread particularly on Reddit and Twitter.
Why did users call for a boycott? Some players were so frustrated with Apex Legends that they wanted to emphasize their complaints about bugs or other technical issues through their boycott.

What do users say about #NoApexAugust? Among the top posts on Twitter under #NoApexAugust, the following comments can be found (via Twitter):
- @oltz Degree: “That’s a good reason for #NoApexAugust, isn’t it? EA makes too much money not to upgrade the servers,” below is a TikTok video complaining about Apex’s tick rate.
- @alphaINTEL: “Play Apex if you want to play Apex. Don’t play Apex if you don’t want to play it. It’s your life. Do what makes you happy.”

Apex remains a top game on Steam
How is Apex doing on Steam currently? The website steamcharts.com features a list of the top games based on current player numbers:
Apex ranks 4th behind CS:GO, Dota 2 and PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS. At the time the article was written, 237,091 Steam users were playing the game, peaking at 347,314 (via steamcharts.com).
Over the past 30 days, the viewer count has increased and seems to be continuing to grow (steamcharts.com).
The website only counts players on the Steam platform, excluding all console and Origin players. Nevertheless, the numbers are a good indicator of how successful a game currently is among gamers.
Why was the boycott unsuccessful? Some players seem to participate in the boycott #NoApexAugust and posted pictures of them uninstalling the game. However, the tweets show that some found it difficult to hold out.
Many also mock the boycott attempt or find the criticism of the game unfounded. Given the player numbers, it can be assumed that the Apex gamers who are actually participating in the boycott are significantly in the minority.
