Crafting in Diablo 4 costs materials, gold, and time. Some players have just now noticed a change that saves them an annoying intermediate step – certain important items can now be easily swapped.
What change is it? You can now easily swap gemstones in items – and this has been possible since Season 6, since October 2024. Previously, this was not possible, and you had to unsocket the socketable items at the jeweler, which was especially annoying for players who liked to experiment and test different builds.
With the new runes, Season 6 also introduced the convenient function of being able to swap gemstones. You simply drag the desired gem from your inventory onto the item, and the old one automatically goes into your inventory. This has become even more important with the new occult gemstones in Season 7, which can significantly boost your builds.
This saves time and makes switching between your endgame builds in Diablo 4 much more pleasant. In particular, you can now easily skip the trip and loading screens to the city.

Nakorite notes in the comments that the armor chamber should just automatically swap gemstones. The armor chamber in Diablo 4 allows you to save builds and switch when needed.
Especially in the endgame, when you play with different builds for different activities, this is practical.
