The anime MMO Soulworker will soon be shut down. The developer wants to launch an international server, but you will have to start from scratch on this one.
What is Soulworker? The anime MMO places you in a post-apocalyptic world overrun by demonic creatures. You take on the role of predefined heroes who, due to their special abilities, are capable of defeating the demons and saving the world.
You will experience the adventure in instanced missions where you must act cooperatively. The story is at the forefront. Over time, you improve your heroes and obtain more powerful equipment, allowing you to tackle the more challenging missions and bosses.
An MMO closes but reopens shortly after
What has been announced? After the last major content update, the game has been quite silent, and the publisher Gameforge has now announced that they will shut down the operation of Soulworker on April 30.
Unfortunately, we must announce today that the adventures in Soulworker will soon come to an end: Gameforge will cease the operation of the game on 30.04.2021.
Starting March 31, it will no longer be possible to purchase premium currency and spend it in the in-game shop.
Why do fans have hope? The developer studio of the online game, Lion Games, announced that they would open an international server. On this server, you will be able to play the current version of the anime MMO Soulworker.
When does the international server start? There is no date yet. Lion Games explains that all new content must first be translated. Additionally, the cash shop for international players needs to be revised. There will be regular in-game purchases but no gacha system like in the Korean version. There, there is a sort of roulette through which players can obtain items, which resembles gambling.
Is it possible to transfer the Gameforge account? Lion Games states that a transfer is not possible. The technical hurdles for this are too high. This is also due to the EU data protection regulations. Gameforge cannot simply transfer player data to Lion Games.
This means you will lose everything you have earned in the 3 years since the release of Soulworker.
Will there at least be boosters? Lion Games plans to make the transition as smooth as possible. This means there will be booster items and special events through which you can level up quickly and regain the status you had on the Gameforge servers.
