Usually, cheaters and hackers are not welcomed in games like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. However, one has managed to win the community over. He eliminated people who were even more annoying.
What did the hacker do? As reddit user IGotHellaMilk reported in a comment, he had a hacker on his team who only eliminated campers. All others he left alone.
Similar to another player who took out campers in a John Wick style, he also targeted these players. The hacker was said to have been in “God Mode”, meaning he was invulnerable and could probably see through walls, possibly even fly.
Another user picked up the comment and complemented it with an iconic line from the trailer of Modern Warfare: “We get our hands dirty so the world stays clean.”
Hacker kills campers – Everyone loves it
This is how players react: The comment from IGotHellaMilk received only 57 upvotes, while the post from Harijifs received an impressive 32,000 (March 6 at 18:00). Both users received substantial support from the community:
- scizz215: “He wasn’t in God Mode. That was God himself.”
- Henryjamess: “Hacker? Or hero …”
- chaosgiantmemes: “You be villain. But that don’t have to mean you also villain.” (a quote from Disney’s “Ralph Breaks the Internet”)
The user TheGuyWhoCummies reports similar incidents in Black Ops 1. He has encountered hackers there who only specifically eliminated opposing hackers to restore fairness.
Why is this so well received? Campers are a troublesome topic, especially in Modern Warfare. Players repeatedly complain that opponents use virtually every position in the game to simply wait and shoot enemies before they can react.
Especially in the Ground War mode, this is a problem, as campers often sit on the roof and take out the foot soldiers with sniper rifles. Many players probably welcome someone cleaning up here with underhanded means.
Actually, hackers themselves are a problem in CoD. Under these circumstances, they seem to be tolerated. It sounds like a kind of love-hate relationship that players have on certain topics:
