In “The War Within” by World of Warcraft, Xal’atath, the “Blade of the Black Empire” is the focus of many events. In a somewhat tongue-in-cheek post, a WoW fan has now supposedly found a way to stop the Void creature prematurely.
What is this way? Anyone who has played World of Warcraft attentively during Legion, Battle for Azeroth, and Dragonflight or has read the MeinMMO special on Xal’atath knows that the “Herald of the Void” was long bound to the dagger named “Xal’atath, Blade of the Black Empire”, which served as both an artifact weapon and a quest item.
In the mentioned quest from Battle for Azeroth, it’s the heroes of … well … Azeroth, who help to free the essence of Xal’atath from the blade, allowing the Void creature to claim the body of a Night Elf and later betray everyone.
But what if one breaks this chain of events? That’s exactly what Jelnir suggests in his post on Reddit, accompanied by the sentence “I think I found a way to win The War Within prematurely.” and a screenshot showing him entering the “Delete” command for “Xal’atath, Blade of the Black Empire”.

While there are evidently more than enough players who can hardly wait to catch a glimpse of the long-established antagonist of The War Within. Some find Xal’atath the hottest invention since the Molten Core. Others focus particularly on one specific body part. Yet others want to stroll around with the Void creature: The new enemy in WoW has a problem: “Many players want to be Xal’atath’s friend”
