Elden Ring offers not only a vast gaming world but also numerous hidden areas. However, players have now discovered a secret passage that is very unusual. This has led to some speculation in the community and sparked a major search.
Normally, secret walls in Elden Ring are quite simple. You just need to hit the respective wall once to open the passage.
These walls are usually found mainly in dungeons but can also be found in the open world. These secret paths are also a kind of insider joke in the community.

- Some use this to help others discover secret passages. However, there are also many players who leave “false” help messages to mislead others. Therefore, there are dozens of messages that say “Secret passage ahead” or “Liar ahead”.

Now, players have discovered a secret passage that is quite unusual. The discoverer of this path had to hit a wall 50 times before it would open.

What is the point of this path? Strictly speaking, this secret passage has absolutely no purpose. It is not a shortcut, and there is no particularly useful item behind it.
The path is more of a curiosity, which leads to speculation among players. Why is this secret passage there?
The community speculates about its use – Is it cut content, or a bug?
What is the deal with the secret passage? This is currently the hot topic in the community. The well-known YouTuber Iron Pineapple wrote on Twitter: “Oh my god, this changes everything.”
Other players have come to the same conclusion:

What exactly this path is about is hard to say. However, there is a clue that the dataminer Zullie the Witch explains:
This is what the dataminer found out: Zullie the Witch found that this wall has its own pool of hit points. It has 9999 HP.
The dataminer is considered an expert in the Souls community and has, for example, shown the faces of NPCs under their masks and helmets in a video. His explanation is:
So I checked and this wall has 9999 HP. For comparison: In Dark Souls 1, there are objects with 999 HP, but they also have 999 defense, which means no attack can damage them. Instead, they are broken through event triggers, e.g., when walking on a collapsing floor. […] The fact that the wall is set as a destructible object but has 9999 HP and no disappearance animation means it should very likely have been destroyed by an event script, although it is unclear whether they played it off or if it is a bug. It should definitely have 9999 defense.
Thus, there is a possibility that this is a bug and that an event is supposed to be triggered. However, it could also be that some content did not make it into the finished game and that these are its remains.
Meanwhile, the major search operation in the community has begun, and players are already on the hunt for more such secret passages. They have already been successful and found a second one not far from the first, as a user shares on Twitter.
How to find the strange secret passage in House Volcano
First, you need to go to House Volcano. It is located in the northwest of the Lands Between. You can enter the house in two ways:
- You can make your way to the entrance and force your way in. Alternatively, you can obtain the invitation to the house through a quest.
- One way or another, you need to join the house to reach the secret passage. For this, you need to speak with Lady Taneth. Once you have joined, you will receive a room key.
- This is the first room when you enter the hallway from the Site of Grace “House Volcano”. There you will find an item. Roll against the wall behind it and you will find a “normal” secret passage.
- Fight your way through the giant snails there and collect all the items first.
- The actual secret passage is located there.
In our test, by the way, we needed significantly more than 50 hits to open the way. How quickly it goes depends on the type of your weapons.
