A player seems to have gotten hungry while slaughtering in Baldur’s Gate 3 and took a piece of meat that was lying around. He was excited about the effect, but the origin of the food gave him pause.
Attention, Spoiler: The following article contains information about the background of one of the Origins characters (the Dark Urge)
What was special about the piece of meat? The player found the meat in the goblin camp, which can end in a large battle in Act 1. However, he decided to kill the entire camp and loot every opponent (via Reddit.com).
He discovered a piece of meat and ate it. The meat healed the player for a few hit points, and he was pleased with his discovery. But when he switched characters, the trick suddenly didn’t work anymore.
The special thing: Only the Dark Urge can heal itself with the meat in this case; it had no effect on Karlach. The player looked into what the food was and had to his horror discover that the meat came from a dwarf’s belly.
So that you can carry even more dwarf meat, MeinMMO reveals how you can reduce your carrying capacity:
The Dark Urge is a crazy killer
Why does the meat only heal the Dark Urge? The Dark Urge is a special Origins character:
- Although the character has its own story, the class, the race, and the appearance can be customized
- The Dark Urge is a crazy murderer who cannot resist his inner urge to kill living beings
- There are some deeply evil actions of the Origins character that cannot be prevented
- The character is also a child of Bhaal, the god of violence
Since the Origins character has killing in its blood, it’s no surprise that it can heal itself by consuming other races. This makes the Dark Urge a cannibal who can heal itself by eating other races.
What does the community say about it? Many players are surprised that the meat only has such an effect on the Dark Urge. They feel that the meat “must not decay.” There have also already been some hints in dialogues that the Dark Urge has cravings for dwarf meat.
MeinMMO has picked out some of the comments for you (via reddit.com):
- demonfire737: “It doesn’t make sense to let a good dwarf decay.”
- Kaelynneee: “I had no idea that it only heals the Dark Urge. Besides that, I currently have a special bag for dwarf meat on the Dark Urge. Save in time, so you have in need. Also, it reminds them of their childhood.”
- Aggravating:Delay995: “Being a cannibal is probably the least horrifying thing she has done.”
By the way, the same applies to Drow, one of the playable races in Baldur’s Gate 3. Since Drow are generally considered evil and Dark Dwarves (Duergar) occur in their homeland, they seem to be accustomed to corresponding meat. You don’t even have to play Dark Urge for that.
The Dark Urge is still perfect for playing the ultimate villain. In an interview with MeinMMO editor-in-chief Leya Jankowski, lead developer Swen Vincke was able to talk about how to walk your evil path in the role-playing game:
