The new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is already successful and generates the most pre-orders at the retail chain GameStop. However, few know exactly what it looks like. That will soon change, as Infinity Ward announces they will show gameplay.
This is the announcement: The retail chain GameSpot may not be as important today in the digital age as it once was. Nevertheless, with 40,000 employees, they are still a big player. After the E3, they published their top 10 list of games that have been pre-ordered:
- 1. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 25.10.2019
- 2. Pokemon Sword/Shield 15.11.2019
- 3. Final Fantasy VII Remake 3.3.2020
- 4. Cyberpunk 2077 16.4.2020
- 5. Borderlands 3 13.9.2019
- 6. Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening 20.9.2019
- 7. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 15.11.2019
- 8. Gears 5 6.9.2019
- 9. Super Mario Maker 2 27.6.2019
- 10. Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled 21.6.2019
However, there are no absolute numbers on how many times each title has been pre-ordered. As the shift to digital is in full swing, the numbers should be taken with caution.
But at least CoD: Modern Warfare is number 1.
“Yay, Call of Duty is still relevant!”
This is how the numbers are interpreted: The number 1 position at GameSpot is seen as a sign that Call of Duty is still relevant in 2019.
For years, it has been said that the franchise would die, but year after year it still becomes a hit for Activision Blizzard.
Activision’s new approach, “as dark and realistic as possible” seems to be paying off. People have a high trust in Modern Warfare.
Why this is noteworthy: Unlike games like Borderlands 3 or Cyberpunk 2077, we have not yet seen any gameplay from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
There have only been reports from people who have been allowed to see gameplay.
The worst part is: We still know very little about the multiplayer mode. It is said to offer a huge world, but we do not know any exact details.
Only a little has been said about character creation.
However, this is supposed to change soon; according to an announcement in the forum, we will get gameplay from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare “soon”. People just need to hang in there a little longer.
However, there is no exact date.
