Patch 8.3 for World of Warcraft is still coming – PTR in just a few days?

The next patch for World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth is confirmed. The first data from WoW Patch 8.3 can already be seen. Is the new patch coming to the PTR soon?

Although Patch 8.2.5 of WoW has only been live in the game for a few days, the next update is already on the way. At least in Blizzard’s “Content Distribution Network” (CDN), the first data from Patch 8.3 has already appeared.

Are game files known yet? No. So far, the game data from Patch 8.3 is still fully encrypted and cannot be accessed.

After a patch appears in the CDN, it usually takes another 1 to 2 weeks before the PTR actually starts. But these are just estimates; Blizzard can of course shorten or extend this period.

Is Patch 8.3 coming soon? Most players are glad that there is even a Patch 8.3. After the end of the war campaign, they feared that there would be no proper story conclusion besides the cinematics. But apparently, the story of Battle for Azeroth is (still) not finished.

Now there is only speculation about whether the patch will be presented before BlizzCon in November or not.

The BlizzCon again has many fun goodies in 2019.

What speaks in favor? The argument for an early presentation is that it avoids the “problem” of Legion. At a BlizzCon, the planet Argus was presented and at the same time, the following expansion “Battle for Azeroth” was discussed.

This led to the strange situation where players were already looking forward to the next expansion and could hardly get excited about Argus anymore.

What speaks against? Basically, it seems strange that the next major patch is already being rolled out on the PTR. After all, the BlizzCon is in just about 4 weeks, and that would be the perfect time to announce new content. At BlizzCon, there is an extremely large stage, and after last year’s “disaster”, it would definitely be better to have as many big announcements as possible ready.
