Palworld is set to leave Early Access this year. With version 1.0, the developers aim to deliver the survival crafting game that everyone has been wishing for. However, those who want to experience all the new features of the full version should say goodbye to their old save file.
Who says that? This statement comes from John Buckley, Publishing Lead and Community Manager at Pocketpair, the studio behind Palworld. At the Game Developers Conference (GDC), the developer spoke with GamesRadar+ about the launch of version 1.0 of the game.
With version 1.0, Palworld is supposed to be “the survival crafting game everyone always wanted”. Every fan of the genre should find something they like and immerse themselves in the world.
Palworld will be so different that you should start over
Why should you start over? The developers currently do not want to say anything concrete about the new content, but the release is supposed to include some surprises – and it will be gigantic. For this reason, the developers recommend completely starting over at the release – even if you have built a considerable base in the last two years of Early Access.
What exactly the 1.0 update will include is still “top secret,” according to Buckley. “I think people will be shocked what we’ve been able to achieve for 1.0.,” he says. Update 1.0 is supposed to expand Palworld with new content in all areas: both in endgame and early and midgame.
“We’re not force wiping anyone,” Buckley emphasizes. So you can continue playing normally with your old save file. However, you will miss out on many new features, as according to the developer, “kind of everything is going to change from the beginning to the end.”
When will Palworld 1.0 be released? There is no exact date for the end of Early Access yet, but it is supposed to happen this year. Version 1.0 of Palworld is expected to go online in 2026.
The legal dispute between Palworld and Pokémon is still ongoing – and this is despite the fact that the game is already two years old. As if that weren’t enough, another game with striking similarities has been announced in the meantime.
