Weapon skins were scarce in the Open Beta of The Division. Not everyone was lucky enough to style their weapon with a fresh skin. We showcase some skins that were discovered in the Open Beta.

In the shooter community, it is popular to customize one’s weapons and proudly display them. The customizations go far beyond a new sight and stock – the favorite weapon must also look good. To spruce up the gun, one can apply a nice skin to it.

The Division will also have weapon skins so you can change your firearms cosmetically. Although some skins were already available during the beta testing phases, very few of us were lucky (or had the time) for a skin to drop. These coveted cosmetics were in short supply.

Arekkz Gaming shows us in a new video what weapon skins he and his friends received in the Open Beta. His skin dropped on the last day of the Open Beta. Check it out:

Note at this point: These are by no means all the weapon skins available during this testing phase. There are also reports of pink and neon green weapon skins.

In general, not much is known about the skins, what versions and ranks they will have. Only speculation can be made at this point. The video shows the following colors: “Solid – Light Blue”, “Solid – Dark Blue”, “Solid – Highland Green”, “Solid – Orange”, and “Solid – Stealth Gray”. The preceding info “Solid” suggests that the skins will have different ranks.

We have already reported in this article that the developer Massive Entertainment announced that there will be a vendor offering several weapon skins. Until now, the skins have simply been too rare, and the distribution hasn’t matched up. With the option of a vendor, significantly more players can procure the coveted skins and customize their characters.

This vendor will be waiting for you at the Operations Base with stylish and sporty skins. And you should be able to pay and acquire the skins with in-game currency. There is still a chance that there will be no microtransactions in The Division at all.

In The Division, there are 24 passive traits that can enhance your agents: the talents. We present them in a compact and clear manner.

In a video by Arekkz Gaming, all 24 talents are introduced and explained. The talents are passive traits. This means that once you have unlocked them, they automatically take effect in certain situations, thereby improving your agent. You can refer to the following list to see in which situations they are triggered.

You can select a maximum of four talents simultaneously as soon as you have unlocked the slots for them. You are free to change the talents at any time if you believe that a new combination brings you more advantages.

There are a total of 24 talents: 8 in Medicine, 8 in Technology, and 8 in Security. You unlock them by completing missions.

Attention: This does not refer to the talents that upgrade your weapons, but solely to the passive traits of your agent.

Here are the talents in the Medicine tree

• Adrenaline: Use a medkit when you are not at full health to receive an “overheal”. This temporarily increases your max health.
• Shock and Awe: Suppress an enemy to increase your speed by 25% for 10 seconds. This is useful for quickly escaping a fight.
• Critical Save: Use a medkit at low health to increase damage resistance by 40% for 10 seconds.
• Combat Medic: When you use a medkit, you heal your group members and other allies within 20 meters by 40%.
• Strike Back: At low health, you reduce the active skill cooldown time by 20%.
• Shrapnel: When you inflict “bleeding” on an enemy, there is a 30% chance to transfer this effect to all enemies within 10 meters.
• Battle Buddy: When you revive a teammate, the damage taken for both agents is reduced by 50% for 10 seconds.
• Triage: When you heal an ally with a skill, skill cooldowns are reduced by 15%.

Here are the talents in the Technology tree:

• Tactical Advance: This talent activates when you perform a cover-to-cover move. For 10 seconds, your weapon damage increases by 2% per meter. Therefore, the benefit is greater the longer the cover-to-cover move is.
• Police Up: Kill an enemy with any skill for a 25% chance that all ammunition types are fully replenished.
• Evasive Action: During a cover-to-cover move, incoming damage is reduced by 30%.
• Wildfire: Similar to “Shrapnel”, there is a 30% chance of applying an effect to all enemies within 10 meters when you inflict the effect on an enemy. However, this is not “bleeding”, but rather “burning”.
• Death by Proxy: If you prevent an enemy-used skill, your skill power increases by 20% for 30 seconds.
• Tech Support: Kill an enemy during an active skill to extend the duration of the skill by 10%.
• Fear Tactics: Similar to “Shrapnel” and “Wildfire”, but this time with the effect “shock”.
• Demolition Expert: Kill an enemy with an explosion to increase explosion damage by 40%. This lasts for 15 seconds.

Here are the talents of the Security tree:

• Steady Hands: When you go into cover, recoil is reduced by 25% for 10 seconds.
• Precision: On a headshot, your enemy is marked for 10 seconds.
• Desperate Times: At low health, accuracy while firing from cover, “blind fire”, is increased by 20%.
• Repo Reaper: Kill an enemy with your sidearm to receive a full magazine for your primary weapon.
• One is None: If you hit your opponent with a headshot, there is a 50% chance that the bullet is not consumed. It essentially bounces back into your magazine. According to Arekkz, this talent is his favorite.
• Stopping Power: Suppress an enemy to increase headshot damage by 25% for 10 seconds.
• Chain Reaction: If you damage multiple enemies with an explosion, explosion damage is increased by 40%.
• On The Move: If you kill an enemy while moving, damage taken is reduced by 30% for 10 seconds.

According to Ubisoft’s Natchai Stappers, The Division will be completely without microtransactions. However, this statement should be taken with caution.

Currently, it seems that Ubisoft is doing a lot right with The Division – at least the publisher is intensively trying to satisfy future agents: In an open beta shortly before release, everyone got a chance to see if the game convinced them to purchase it, the servers seem to be running optimally, and even with the server launch, Ubisoft ensures order and fairness.

What about microtransactions?

Now, community manager Natchai Stappers stated via Twitter that there will be no microtransactions at all. Microtransactions are a very controversial topic in the gamer community. But since Ubisoft wants to “definitely” prevent Pay-to-Win and agents will therefore have to earn their successes themselves, this should satisfy most casual agents.

Stappers happily tweeted that the “Phoenix Credits” will also be exclusively available through gameplay, and more information in this regard will follow. Some beta testers have noticed the existence of “Phoenix Credits,” which initially appeared to be a currency that could be purchased with real money.

In the summer of 2014, Ubisoft still spoke of microtransactions that were meant to accelerate player progress. However, this statement was retracted by creative director Magnus Jansen in January 2016. There will be no “shortcuts” through microtransactions. And now, according to Stappers, there are to be no microtransactions at all?

There will “definitely be no Pay-to-Win”

With The Division, Ubisoft would now be taking a different path than with blockbuster games like Rainbow Six or Assassin’s Creed, which offer microtransactions. However, it should be noted that initially, Destiny also mentioned that there would be no microtransactions. In the meantime, an in-game shop has been introduced where players can purchase gestures and dances. While it’s not Pay2Win, it still qualifies as microtransactions.

Furthermore, Stappers’ Twitter message should be taken with caution, as he clarified just an hour later. He said he forgot that people are so eager for information that he needs to be more careful with his statements.

“Sorry guys, I should be more careful.”

It is therefore important to note: There will definitely be no Pay-to-Win. Whether microtransactions in the form of cosmetics will find their way into The Division is still not definitively clarified.
