In Battlefield 1, players can expect some new features and functionalities that have not been seen in this form before. You can look forward to the following new features.

The beta of Battlefield 1 was the most successful testing phase in EA’s history. During this testing phase, approximately 13.2 million players were able to try out the new functions and features of the game. Some of these features are particularly outstanding and responsible for a fresh play style in Battlefield 1.

1. Behemoths

Behemoths are special “vehicles” that can be used in the game. They were designed to assist the team that is currently behind. They have strong weapons, high health points, and also provide a mobile spawn point in the game. A certain number of players can use the weapons of these Behemoths to take out enemies. 

The Behemoths include Airship L30, Dreadnought, and Armored Train. The Dreadnought ship, in particular, brings joy to the game (if you have it for your team). With the strong weapons on board, you can cause chaos on the beaches while being well protected.

2. The Return of the Assault Boats

Strong boats are not only represented in the form of a Behemoth. The small assault boats are also tactically important because they are fast and agile. Perfect conditions if you want to flank an opponent. Powerful machine guns will convince some enemies on land or in the air to retreat. With 2 strong torpedoes, you can also deal a lot of damage to other boats.

3. Mortars for Supporters

In many video games, there are situations where you feel useless as a supporter. Often, the certain “offensive power” is lacking to change the outcome of a battle. In Battlefield 1, as a supporter, you have the option to use a mortar. This way, you can force opponents to leave a camping position – if they are still able to do so after your attack. On the mini-map, you can choose where the charge should land and cause area damage.

4. Elite Class Sentry/Guard

Equipped with a strong SMG, you can take down enemies with just a few shots. With this firepower and maybe a couple of supporters in the background, you can rack up some points. 5. The Various Maps in Battlefield 1

A lot of variety is provided by the locations of the individual battles in Battlefield 1. The game spans environments from deserts to dense jungles. Each map brings its own charm to the game and creates a special atmosphere during the battles. Together with the dynamic weather, the maps are responsible for the fact that matches in Battlefield 1 are always a bit different. Looking closely at the maps, one can see that the design also paid attention to smaller details like cracks in the buildings. These maps will be available at the release of Battlefield 1.

For a few days now, Sony’s VR headset has been on the market. Countless gamers have already put it on their heads and eagerly dove into new gaming worlds. Those who are spared from “Motion Sickness” report a fantastic experience and engaging – sometimes too short – games.

However, some user reports also indicate that the PlayStation VR is blurry. How do you “see” it?

The visual impression – blurry or fantastic?

Tests and previews for the PS VR can be found all over the internet. There are divided opinions on the visual impression of virtual reality. Everything from “blurry” to “fantastic” is included.

The “screen door effect” is hardly noticeable compared to other VR headsets. Unfortunately, the weak anti-aliasing becomes apparent in many applications, causing objects to look very stepped.

Additionally, it is said that the image becomes blurry at the side and upper edges, which is quite normal for VR headsets. The optimal sharpness in the “sweet spot” is definitely okay. However, in games like Driveclub VR, it becomes particularly noticeable that the distance view becomes “blurry”.

PlayStation VR with glasses

The PlayStation VR is also suitable for glasses wearers. As our author Jürgen was able to experience with Eve: Valkyrie, the VR headset can also be comfortably worn with an unusually shaped pair of glasses. However, it may happen that the image appears blurry.

To adjust the sharpness, you can bring the lenses of the PSVR close to your eyes. The interior of the headset may occasionally bump against the glasses.

PlayStation VR with PS4 Pro

During the official announcement of the PS4 Pro, Sony promised that the PlayStation VR would benefit from the PS4 Pro. The Pro version comes with more power, which should enhance the VR experience. For example, higher frame rates will be possible to improve immersion. The anti-aliasing issue could also potentially be solved.

Although the officials insist that all VR games will run on the original PS4, the experience on the PS4 Pro is definitely better.

PlayStation VR Game Reviews

To experience PlayStation VR, there are currently over 20 different titles available. You will find out how titles like Batman: Arkham VR, EVE Valkyrie, Driveclub, and VR Worlds fared.

PlayStation VR Worlds

This title is a collection of games that covers many genres. Ocean Descent is a game where you swim passively in the ocean and observe a lot of the environment with corals and sun rays penetrating the water. VR Luge is a game from the collection that is racing-style. You control it with your head and try to avoid obstacles.

Gamespot assesses VR Worlds as a game with significant highs and lows. It includes games that are a must for a VR experience, but it also includes Scavenger Odyssey, which caused motion sickness for the tester. Both IGN US and Gamespot rated VR Worlds 6 out of 10 points – On Metacritic.com, VR Worlds has a Metascore of 57. 

Batman: Arkham VR

The Batman adventure is rated differently but has a good overall score. Gamespot reports that the game is relatively “short” with about an hour of gameplay. However, there are moments in the game that no Batman fan should miss.

In the conclusion from Gamespot, it states that Batman Arkham VR fulfills the promise of virtual reality. One can get so lost in the virtual world that the difference between the real world is hardly noticeable. Gamespot gave this game 7 out of 10 points – IGN US 7.2 out of 10 points – On Metacritic.com, Batman: Arkham VR has a Metascore of 72.

Driveclub VR

According to Videogamer, Driveclub VR is a good example of what benefits virtual reality brings to a game. For the right driving feel in your VR headset, you can adjust the seat height and distance to the steering wheel at the beginning of a race and then press the gas pedal well.

In the review by Videogamer, it mentions that while you have a good racing experience in this game, the graphics leave much to be desired. On Metacritic.com, Driveclub VR has a Metascore of 63.

EVE: Valkyrie

In a review from Thesixthaxis, Eve: Valkyrie is rated as a visually stunning game with smooth movements (without motion sickness). It is said to be a game that fulfills the fantasies of players who want to fly through space and asteroid fields as a pilot while attacking other spaceships.

Reviewers didn’t think it was great that there are only 3 multiplayer modes and 5 maps. However, the feeling of being a space pilot that the game conveys is unbeatable. TheSixthaxis rates the game 7 out of 10 points. There is currently only a Metascore for the PC version on Metacritic.com. This Metascore is 67.

RIGS: Mechanized Combat League

Destructoid took a closer look at the multiplayer robot shooter RIGS and came to a positive conclusion. RIGS are large, heavily armed sports machines that players control. With them, you play in a mix of various sports like motorsport, basketball, and combat sports. According to the testers, this game is one of the best titles with virtual reality. The stylish 3D overlay and the ability to look around with your head are 2 of the core points why the testers liked the game so much.

The game impressed Destructoid so much that RIGS received 8.5 out of 10 points. On Metacritic.com, the game has the best result in our summary with a Metascore of 76.

General Tips

In video games, there can never be enough tips and tricks to make your virtual life easier. In this paragraph, we provide you with some general tips for playing Battlefield 1.

• Horses: An interesting feature in Battlefield 1 is the horses, which allow you to move across the various maps. If you are fighting against a soldier on a horse, always remember to aim at the rider and not the horse. Horses have a lot of health points and are therefore not as easy to kill as the rider. While the large hitbox tempts you to aim directly at the horse, you will usually come out the loser in a duel. By the way, horses also cause damage when no rider is on them. If they run you over, it hurts and can even be lethal.
• Capture Points: After you have captured a point, you should not run away immediately. Many players make this mistake and simply run to the next point without looking back. Often, a freshly captured point provides you with vehicles like jeeps or tanks. With these vehicles, you usually have a much easier time making your way to the next point.
• Sniper Reflection: Being killed by a sniper can be frustrating. However, if you want to kill them before they take your life, you should pay attention to reflections. In sunny weather, the sniper’s scope reflects the sun and helps you locate the shooter.

Best Weapons?

In Battlefield 1, you have a choice of many weapons. Determining the best weapon in Battlefield 1 is not easy, as it depends a lot on your play style and preferences. However, there are weapons that make playing enjoyable. One example is the tiny Colibri in Battlefield 1. It is probably the weapon you least expect to perform well. However, if you achieve a kill with the Colibri, it is doubly frustrating for the defeated enemy.

Another type of weapon you should use is the artillery strike in rush mode. As a defender, you must protect telegraph poles that are the target of the attackers. As a defender, you can not only remove the attackers’ explosives from the telegraph poles but also call for artillery strikes through these poles.

However, you have no influence over the artillery’s strike location. After you have requested the strike, the game decides where it takes place. However, it is a powerful strike that should definitely be utilized.

Using Grenades

Different types of grenades await you in Battlefield 1. There are special anti-tank grenades that can disable heavily armored vehicles. Other types of grenades, such as gas grenades, can be effectively used against snipers. However, you have to sneak close to the snipers first. If you make a good throw, a sniper player has a hard time. While they can use a gas mask to counteract the gas, it significantly restricts their vision. Elite Classes and Airplanes

The elite classes in Battlefield 1 are particularly powerful and therefore have a lot of influence on a game. However, they are not self-sufficient and require a player who knows how to handle them. Only one elite class can be present on the map at a time. We will gradually update the spawn points of these classes on the new maps. Desert Sinai

• On this map, you can find the sentry class near point F. As a sentry, you have a lot of firepower and wear heavy armor. The exact spawn point can be seen on your map.
• The tank hunter can be found near the capture point E. With this elite class, you have enough power to destroy a heavily armored vehicle from a distance.
• Near the capture point B, you can find the flamethrower soldier. Equipped with a flamethrower and strong grenades, you have the right tools for close-range combat.

Attacks from and to the air are not uncommon in Battlefield 1. There are various types of airplanes that you can fly. Bombers like the Gotha G.V or the Airco D.H.4 fly at low speed and are only lightly armored. The two gunners on board must take care of the bomber’s defense while the pilot can attack ground targets with their bombs.

Fighters, like the Sopwith F.1 Camel and the Fokker Dr. I, only have room for one pilot without crew. However, there are 2 MGs with which the pilot can shoot forward. While fighters have little armor, they are the fastest and most maneuverable planes in Battlefield 1.

Attack bombers like the Bristol F. 2 have room for one pilot and one additional crew member. They are equipped with a heavy and a light MG as well as bombs. However, when you drop the bombs, they do not explode immediately on impact but short time later with significant area damage. Attack bombers are not fast, but they are a good counter against tanks.

What the best airplane in Battlefield 1 is thus depends on the situation and your play style. However, you should definitely try out the air battles.
