In The Division, a new exploit around the boss “Bullet King” has been discovered.

Although it has been raining loot since updates 1.4 and 1.5, agents are actively looking for ways to obtain many items even faster. A new exploit has been discovered that allows players to farm over 200 objects per hour. This farming spot has a prominent name: “Bullet King.”

This named NPC in the open world was the first major exploit that caused a stir in The Division and forced Massive to act quickly. Back then, players simply ran from the safehouse “Autumn’s Hope” to the boss, defeated him, but let the group of weaker mobs accompanying him live, ran back, and started over.

Ultimately, Massive put a stop to this by removing all named bosses in the open world from the game once they were defeated for the first time. This made it impossible to exploit this method again.

Does Massive need to react again?

With update 1.4, the open-world bosses returned, this time with a spawn rate of 4 hours. Players can farm them again, but without exploiting this process.

But now Bullet King is back. We will not provide a step-by-step guide for the new exploit here. If you want to know about it, you’ll quickly find it on Reddit or YouTube. You need two agents – and the safehouse “Autumn’s Hope” and Bullet King play a crucial role again.

Currently, we have no information on whether and how Massive will respond. The “new” Bullet King is currently not marked as an “exploit,” which would lead to severe penalties when applied. Nevertheless, this farming method is not intended, so we recommend staying away from it.

In The Division, we take a closer look at the submachine guns after update 1.5. Are they still useful?

For months, the submachine guns, the SMGs, were the dominant weapon class in Ubisoft’s MMO shooter. Agents feverishly searched for an AUG or Vector with God Roll, as they were superior to other weapons in both PvE and PvP. Only the M1A snipers were equally sought after.

Since updates 1.4 and 1.5, the meta has changed. The supremacy of the SMGs is over; other weapons now dominate. Some agents even claim that the submachine guns are now “complete trash,” as mentioned by YouTuber Disturbed Gaming:

SMGs are inferior to assault rifles

A few weeks ago, we examined all weapon classes more closely to find the best weapons in 1.5. We concluded that the LVOA-C assault rifle, the Pakhan LMG, and the SCAR-H sniper outperform other weapons. The LVOA-C and the Pakhan make the submachine guns redundant. Why is that?

In PvP, the MP7 is the best submachine gun, and the LVOA-C is the best assault rifle, which is why Disturbed Gaming compares these two weapons. The result: Almost everything the MP7 can do, the assault rifle can do better.

A comparison of the stats shows that the base damage of the assault rifle is significantly higher, while the fire rate is lower. The magazine of the LVOA-C holds 10 more rounds. The precision and range are better, although the reload speed is somewhat inferior to that of the MP7. Additionally, the opponent’s armor damage now applies in PvP, which enhances assault rifles.

By the way, the headshot multiplier of the LVOA-C is also 25% higher than that of the MP7.

To illustrate this in numbers: Disturbed Gaming found that in PvP, the LVOA-C deals 287k burst damage while the MP7 deals 225k burst damage. Also, in damage over time, the assault rifle surpasses the MP7. In PvE, the LVOA-C shows even better values.

Update 1.5 destroyed an advantage of the SMGs

With update 1.5, hip fire was revamped. Depending on the weapon type, recoil was increased, causing bullets to whizz around when firing continuously. This was once a major advantage of the submachine guns: dealing with opponents at close range using hip fire. The crosshair was relatively tight, and shots could be controlled towards the target.

Now, the crosshair widens significantly during hip fire, with bullets tending to the outer areas of the crosshair. Hence, the SMG hip fire is hardly usable anymore.

Even with the LVOA-C, the crosshair widens, but not as much as with the MP7. Furthermore, it seems as if the shots tend to be more towards the center and less at the edges of the crosshair. In short: The LVOA-C is even better at hip fire.

New rumors are circulating about a “Year 2” content for The Division.

A few weeks ago, there was much speculation in the agents’ chat about a Year 2 for The Division. Ubisoft sent emails with a survey to selected players regarding possible future content. Interestingly, Ubisoft was particularly interested in Destiny. Back then, it was believed: These questions do not relate to “Last Stand,” but to a potential Year 2.

What this Year 2 specifically entails is still completely unknown. However, another hint has surfaced, suggesting that the developers are working on a future for the MMO shooter.

Will there finally be a new area in Year 2?

This hint comes from an updated resume. This belongs to an Environment Artist, a developer who works on the environment of The Division. On his website, he mentions a “Year 2 DLC” currently in development, in addition to his completed work on the main game.

In the meantime, access to this leak has been closed. Nevertheless, the information spread like wildfire across the internet. Among the agents, there is growing hope that the map will finally be expanded. After all, an Env. Artist is working on it. The Central Park is still very much in demand. Back in spring 2016, some agents glitched into areas outside the map and found concepts for Central Park.

However, at this point, a note: Nothing has been officially confirmed yet.

All eyes on Last Stand

Before Massive and Ubisoft will talk extensively about Year 2, the DLC “Last Stand” and Update 1.6 still need to be released. This will conclude the “Year 1” content. There are no official details about the future.

It is unlikely that Massive will say after “Last Stand”: That’s it. The efforts for Update 1.4 were too great, in which they completely overhauled the player experience. Changes to PvP and the Dark Zone have already been announced for 1.6. Everything indicates that The Division is not ending after Year 1, but is only just getting started.
