Pokémon GO Valentine’s Day Event: Lures stay in the game longer

A bonus from the Valentine’s Day event in Pokémon GO is still available for trainers for a few more days.

The Valentine’s Day event in Pokémon GO gave trainers many in-game bonuses that were supposed to be deactivated today. Originally, the event was planned from February 8th until today (February 15th) at 8:00 PM. As a special gift from the developers, trainers will continue to receive a bonus from this event in the coming days, which has been well received by players.

Valentine’s Day Event Bonus Extended

The Valentine’s Day event has many advantages for trainers that can be noticed in the game:

  • Double candy is received when catching a Pokémon, hatching an egg, or sending Pokémon.
  • Your buddy Pokémon earn candy twice as fast.
  • Increased appearance of pink Pokémon in the wild. – You will find these Pokémon more often
  • The chance of Pii, Fluffeluff, and Kussilla hatching from eggs is increased.
  • To ensure that your cities, villages, and environments are constantly decorated in bright colors, lures will last six hours throughout the event!

Actually, all bonuses were supposed to last only until this evening when the event officially ends. However, the developers have decided that the enhanced lures will remain in the game longer. Until February 19th at 1:00 AM, the lures will last 6 hours instead of 30 minutes. Make the most of the next few days to complete your collections at active modules.

Pokemon GO Leipzig2

Cities are particularly suitable for the hunt, as the modules are almost constantly active there and are used by many trainers. In Leipzig, it looked like this during the last few days:

New features in Pokémon GO that trainers have wished for since the release will be available soon. Niantic confirmed in an interview that the trade function and trainer battles (PVP) are already on the way and will be activated in the game soon.

Conan Exiles: Patch Notes – Riesiges Update im Anmarsch

Conan Exiles is being patched almost daily and the next update is supposed to be the largest to date. It will address many issues, including adjustments to creatures and the land ownership system.

Conan Exiles is in Early Access and far from finished. Therefore, NPCs move awkwardly through the vegetation. Rhinos suddenly appear and trample me. And nothing has been more frustrating than to starve in the wasteland with kilos of raw meat in my backpack because everywhere has already been claimed and I couldn’t set up a campfire to cook my steaks. As if surviving in the world of Conan wasn’t hard enough!

Conan Exiles Wheel of Pain

Conan Exiles: Biggest Update Yet

Now, things are supposed to change, as the developers at Funcom have planned a massive patch that is set to be released in the coming days. Many issues will be tackled brutally and mercilessly. Some of the most important changes include:

  • Server performance will be improved
  • NPCs will no longer move awkwardly when turning
  • Buildings load much faster
  • Placeable objects will be saved correctly
  • Rocks will no longer fly through the air when harvested
  • Small placeable objects no longer claim land
  • NPC camps have their own land claim, so you can no longer build over them and hinder their respawning
  • No more phantom duplicates at the Wheel of Pain
  • Tier 2 altars will no longer vanish
  • Arrows fly straight and no longer in random directions
  • Rhinos no longer walk through players
  • Palisades cause their correct damage and can be placed more easily
  • You can no longer smash rocks with your bare hands. Only Conan can do that!
  • Gong and horn are now more audible
  • You can learn new emotes from story NPCs
  • Many requirements for recipe skills have been simplified. Therefore, you will receive a free reallocation of your crafting skills.
  • Bows shoot farther, crossbows faster
  • Monsters and animals can now damage more building types. Your sandstone buildings are no longer safe!
  • More crafting experience for complex items
  • Black stones in the starting desert can now be mined
  • More secondary resources like bark and branches when using higher quality tools
  • You no longer lose your religion when drinking a potion for skill reset
  • Caves in the starting area no longer cause corruption
  • Player corpses can only be looted for religious purposes every 30 minutes
  • No more armors from chests
  • Emus give less XP
  • The NPCs from the “Desert Dogs” now have their own outfits
  • Diverse clipping adjustments for outfits
  • Adjustments to some hairstyles and female head models

Hearthstone: “We are already working on the next 3 expansions”

The “Chef” of Hearthstone, Ben Brode, explains to us how far in advance they are already working on new cards for Hearthstone.

In recent days, we had the opportunity to interview Ben Brode, the Game Director of Hearthstone, and discuss current topics related to Blizzard’s digital card game.

Hearthstone Ben Brode

One of our questions dealt with how far the developers of Hearthstone are actually looking into the future and already developing plans and designs for upcoming expansions.

Ben Brode replied:

“Right now, we are finishing the development of our next card set, but we are also already hard at work on the two subsequent expansions.”

The upcoming set could be the leaked “Lost Secrets of Un’Goro“.

Hearthstone Karazhan Wing 1

This statement suggests that the developers of Hearthstone at least have the next 12 months in mind and that the work is significantly more than just “rough planning”. According to current statements, three new card sets are expected to be released each year. Two of these are pure “sets”, with a little over 100 fresh cards; one expansion is an adventure with story elements and PvE bosses, but it will also bring significantly fewer cards (about 30-40). In compensation, the cards from the adventures are usually “more powerful” and have a greater impact on the meta than individual cards from the large sets.

Although there has been no official announcement yet, the next set is expected in spring 2017, as the “Year of the Kraken” will then end and old sets will be removed from the standard rotation.

Just recently, nerfs for the shaman and the pirates were announced for Hearthstone, which will go live soon.

Paladins: “PvE-Coop” mode, win free crystals

In Paladins there is a weekly PvE challenge where you can win 50 crystals for free. What is the PvE challenge?

Recently, there is a PvE mode in Paladins where you team up against the game. In the last few days, I have seen questions popping up in the Paladins forums about what the PvE quest actually is. Here comes an explanation.

paladins gameplay trailer

Paladins PvE Challenge – What is it?

In PvE (Player vs Environment), you compete against bots with your team. The bots are not easy to defeat, as they all fight with enhanced attributes and reduced cooldown of their abilities.

So far, there have been these different PvE scenarios:

  • Tortois Power (4 Makoas, 1 Pip)
  • Tank it to the Limit (2 Bariks, 1 Grover, 1 Makoa, Fernando)
  • Los Pollos Fernandos (4 Fernandos, 1 Pip)
  • Hide and Seek (5 Skyes)
  • Minefield (5 Kinessas)

Every week there is a different PvE quest, in which you can defeat the overpowered bots in co-op.

Paladins Grover Heros

PvE Quests reward you with crystals

Every week you have the chance to win the PvE quest for a reward. If you manage to defeat the PvE quest 5 times, you will receive 50 crystals. Crystals are usually only obtainable with real money or through special events, like the PvE quest. With crystals, you unlock cosmetic items or purchase chests.

The reward does not increase: 10 wins would not result in 100 crystals. Per week, the reward can be unlocked once by each account. If you have already received the reward, the PvE mode is still useful for leveling up the champion.

PvE Strategies – Crowd Control pays off

So far, all PvE quests have shown that champions with “Crowd Control” abilities are in the lead. Especially the Bomb King is particularly effective here with his sticky bombs. But Pip is also a good choice.

Paladins Torvald

It is currently unknown, whether Paladins will add more PvE quests in the future. It seems that for now, they will stick with the enhanced bot teams. However, players wish for more variety in the future.

How do you like the PvE quests so far? I find them sometimes quite tricky …

WoW: Ausgeraidet – Immer mehr Profi-Gilden werfen das Handtuch

Professionals are running out of breath – the top guilds in World of Warcraft are successively bidding farewell to raiding.

The race for the first kills in the Nighthold has been over for a few days now, and more and more professional guilds are slowly but surely managing to defeat the last boss Gul’Dan on Mythic mode.

wow-legion-odyn

However, while many guilds are thrilled about the kill, another feeling sets in: exhaustion.

More and more guilds have thrown in the towel in recent months and have distanced themselves from the professional raiding scene in World of Warcraft. Now, Midwinter and From Scratch, who had previously participated in many races and achieved quite high placements, have followed suit.

Kaowa from Midwinter announced on the guild’s website:

“After a year and a half of planning and five months with hundreds of hours spent in dungeons and raids, we have finally defeated the last boss of the Nighthold. Grand Magistrix Elisande. “What about Gul’dan?” you ask? Well, in the end, we decided that he wasn’t such a bad guy after all.

WoW Nighthold Gul'dan

Just kidding, this means that Midwinter is taking an indefinite break from progressive raiding.”

The main problem for many guilds is that the “next race,” the Tomb of Sargeras, will also be associated with so much farming work that players are already losing their motivation just thinking about the effort. Justwait from Method has calculated how much one would need to farm for upgrading the artifact weapon in the next patch – nearly 1000 “Mythic+” dungeons of level 6-9!

Blizzard has since responded to the concerns that have arisen in connection with the upcoming Patch 7.2 “The Tomb of Sargeras” and clarified that these are only temporary values. It is stated in the official forum:

WoW Tomb of Sargeras Azshara Statue Elune

“The values for artifact knowledge and artifact power that have been extracted for Patch 7.2 by data miners are not final – they are only temporary values. With these temporary values, artifact knowledge scales linearly while the required artifact power increases exponentially. Therefore, it seems as if one has to put in much more effort for the new traits than was the case in 7.0, but that’s not the case.”

Whether Blizzard is now also concerned about “backtracking” or whether the data was really not final remains hard to say. Nevertheless, this is a PTR and it is there for testing – what you see there is rarely set in stone and should be taken with caution.

Many guilds also complain that high-level raiding does not receive the attention from developers that it actually deserves. In other games with significantly less attention, there would be large prize pools as incentives and more fairness. In World of Warcraft, however, “high-performance raiding” is tied to a lot of grind work and luck, such as the distribution of legendary items.

Exorsus also stated that the “grind is only going to get worse.”

For Honor: Fraktion wechseln und Wappen ändern – So geht’s

In For Honor, we show you how to change factions and modify your emblem.

When you launch For Honor for the first time, you first choose a faction and create an emblem. Only after that can you dive into the brutal melee battles. It can quickly happen that players give little thought to their faction choice and emblem (symbol) and select them carelessly.

As a result, some players wonder: Can I change my faction affiliation and emblem afterwards? How does that work?

This is how you create a new emblem and change your faction

For Honor_20170215093702

Yes, it’s possible to change both. However, the option needs to be found first. In the “Customize” section of the main menu, there’s nothing related to the faction or emblem.

For Honor_20170215093655

Instead, press “Social” in the main menu. The button for that is displayed at the top center of the screen. On PS4, it’s triangle. Now switch to the tab named “Profile.” Here you see your story and glory progress as well as other stats. Additionally, there is the emblem editor and the faction choice.

In the emblem editor, you can create up to four emblems, between which you can switch as you like. If you want to edit one of these emblems, press the edit button and then save the emblem afterwards.

You can also change your faction at any time; however, it’s not recommended. Because you will lose your entitlement to the rewards from the faction war. If you change your affiliation in the first round, you lose the rewards of the first round. If you switch after the first round, there are no seasonal rewards for you.

Note: In the faction war, a round lasts two weeks and a season lasts 10 weeks (thus 5 rounds).

Shroud of the Avatar: Die Techno-Kobolde kommen!

The selective multiplayer game Shroud of the Avatar has a profound lore in which the goblins play an important role.

The world in which SotA takes place is recovering from a catastrophe upon the heroes’ arrival. The two moons collided and destroyed large parts of civilization. Technologies from before this event, such as steam engines, can be found throughout the world. From the ashes, the goblins have risen as the people who now possess the most advanced technology. The goblins also use special armor and weapons such as gas cannons, steam-powered chainsaws, grenades, and more.

Shroud of the Avatar Goblin Gunner
Goblins and Technology

Of course, you can also come into possession of these “devices” by taking them from a slain goblin or finding the recipe to craft them yourself. A part of the game’s background story is also related to the goblins. Where did they get the technology? What do they want to do with it? What is their relationship with the rest of the population of the land? You can find all this out throughout the course of the role-playing game’s story.

Transform items using patterns

The developer studio Portalarium announced another innovation for Shroud of the Avatar. This concerns patterns.

Using patterns, it is possible to give an item the appearance of another object without altering its stats. So, for example, if you forged a powerful sword but find one that you prefer the appearance of, which has worse stats, you just take the pattern of that item. This is intended to give players more freedom in customizing their heroes.

Shroud of the Avatar is currently in the last 20 percent of development according to Portalarium and is set to be released in the second half of this year. The selective multiplayer role-playing game aims to combine the narrative structure of a single-player RPG with the online world of an MMORPG.

Heroes of the Storm: From today you can earn a mount in WoW!

Two really “hot” mounts are waiting for all WoW players who are now going to play a few rounds of Heroes of the Storm with friends.

A few days ago, we reported that there will soon be a new mount available for all players of World of Warcraft.

As part of a cross-promotion called “For Azeroth!” by the developers, all fans of the Warcraft universe can now earn a new mount for World of Warcraft by completing some matches in Heroes of the Storm.

I consent to external content being displayed to me. Personal data can be transmitted to third party platforms. Read more about our privacy policy.

The task is relatively simple: During the event, 15 matches of Heroes of the Storm must be played, where you play as a hero from the Warcraft universe. At the same time, you must be in a group with at least one friend (from your friends list) when registering. It doesn’t matter which hero your friend chooses. If he also wants the mounts, it should naturally be a Warcraft hero.

In total, there are three different rewards for completing this mission:

  • World of Warcraft: Mount “Primal Flame Saber”
  • Heroes of the Storm: 10-Day Stimpack
  • Heroes of the Storm: Mount “Flame Steed of Judgment”

The primal flame saber resembles the night sabers from the Night Elves in terms of animations, but its “burned” appearance suggests it could most likely be from the Firelands.

The Flame Steed of Judgment, on the other hand, corresponds to the “classic” mount of the Paladins in the Warcraft universe, but has also been adorned with some flames.

The quest begins today, on February 15, 2017, and is available until March 14, 2017. Whether one can ever possess these animals again afterward is questionable. Collectors should invest some hours in the next few days and team up with a few friends.

The patch also brought Lúcio and the long-awaited rework of the little Murloc Murky.

For Honor legt Rekord-Betas für Ubisoft hin – Besonders erfolgreich auf PC

The beta phases of For Honor were successful – millions of players experienced the melee carnage themselves.

Ubisoft announced figures for the beta phases of For Honor. According to the publisher, over 6 million players participated in the tests. In total, over two billion minutes were played on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

for-honor-knight-battle

Last weekend alone, more than 3 million players registered for the open beta. The tests, however, ran particularly well on PC: With 1.8 million participants, these were the largest PC beta phases in Ubisoft’s history.

By the way: For Honor, however, does not reach the numbers of The Division (also Ubisoft). Here, over 6.4 million players tried the beta before the launch.

If you participated in the “For Honor” betas, you can now claim your rewards in the full version. There are unique symbols for your crest.

Destiny: Server maintenance today, Bungie responds to Super-Glitch

Today, on February 15th, maintenance is taking place for Destiny. Additionally, Bungie is responding to the Super Glitch that has recently plagued the MMO shooter.

Yesterday, we reported on a severe glitch that is causing havoc in both PvE and PvP. This allows for throwing infinite hammers (Titan) and keeping the Arc Blade active indefinitely (Hunter).

This Super Glitch is directly related to Sparrows – in PvP, you can only activate “Hammer Time” if vehicles are allowed.

destiny-hammer-time

As luck would have it, yesterday the Combined Arms was activated as a Featured PvP mode. In other words, if you wanted to grab the Legendary Marks and the Radiant Treasure, you had to venture into this crucible mode with vehicles.

destiny-pvp

However, in recent hours Bungie has intervened. They changed Combined Arms to Hexenkessel: Konflikt. In this mode, you can expect many flying hammers, but it has its purpose. Furthermore, Bungie states that they changed the mode due to an issue (they don’t call it a “glitch”) and that more information will follow soon.

Maintenance on February 15th

Additionally, more hours of maintenance are taking place today, Wednesday. This was already announced days ago. Whether Bungie will be able to resolve the “new” glitch by then remains to be seen.

  • At 6 PM, the maintenance will begin.
  • At 2 AM, it should be completed.

There will be no server downtime. The player experience should only be minimally affected. If you are returned to the title screen, you can log back in normally and continue playing.

Chronicles of Elyria: Wer viel isst, wird dick! Infos zur Charakter-Anpassung

With many new screenshots, Soulbound Studios already offers us a glimpse of the upcoming demo for Chronicles of Elyria.

The Pax East begins in a few weeks, and Soulbound Studios, the team behind Chronicles of Elyria (sandbox MMO), is already working hard on their first playable demo of the game. The new female character models, some new features, animations, and fighting styles are set to be showcased. Here is a brief overview from the last developer update.

First images of new features

Character customization is an important part of any RPG, but has been minimized in many new MMORPGs. According to the developers, Chronicles of Elyria aims to be different, going beyond adjustments like hairstyle, hair color, and skin color. It ranges from the character’s physique to the equipment they wear.

coe2
If a character spends a long time in the wild, their hair gets messy and their beard grows

Soulbound Studios goes even further. The character’s activities are also said to have a significant impact on their appearance. Characters who eat a lot and do little movement will become overweight. In contrast, if they move a lot or pursue a physically demanding profession, they will become lean and muscular.

Similarly, the equipment will wear down over time and depending on activity. This can also be seen quite well in the image above. The character there wears a worn, matte chest plate and new shoulder guards that are shining in the sun.

But other activities also affect appearance. If a character falls into a lake, they will get wet. If they wear heavy armor, they can even drown. And if they do not wash their clothes regularly, they will become and remain dirty.

coe4
Clothing can become heavily soiled and show water marks

Prologue: The Awakening

The PAX demo is part of the offline single-player demo called “Prologue: The Awakening”, which will be available later for backers and serves as a gameplay test for some of the most important features.

The story of the prologue takes place about 20 years before the release date. The events you experience in the prologue will have an impact on the world on the day of the game’s launch.

The demo is one of the first opportunities for the team to gather feedback on the server and client before the alpha. Here are the features you can expect in the prologue:

  • Become something (Character creation)
  • Not naked in the bushes (Inventory and equipment)
  • Touch everything (Interaction with the environment)
  • Didn’t see that (Movement and load)
  • Not dying (Eating, resting, and shelter)
  • Dying (Character life cycle and souls)
  • Let die (Combat)
  • Making things (Crafting)
  • Cooperate with people (Laws, crimes, and punishments)
  • Cooperate with nature (Agriculture, hunting, and resource management)
  • Social skills (Identity, reputation, and NPC interaction)
coe5
The city of New Haven is one of the locations that can be visited in the prologue

Next Stop: Alpha Experience

After the developers talked about the 18 biomes of the MMORPG in one of their last Q&As (Tundra, forests, steppes, deserts, savannas, jungles, and more), the next topic in the Q&A will be “Alpha Experiences”.

This includes the so-called prologue games of CoE that you can play ahead of release. These include Prologue: The Awakening (offline demo), ElyriaMUD, and of course Kingdoms of Elyria (KoE).

The Q&A will be streamed on Twitch and will take place on Thursday, February 23, at 12:00 AM our time. The whole thing will also be available as a recording on Twitch and YouTube afterwards.

For those of you who missed the last Q&A on the topic of settlements/player cities, here is a brief summary of the Q&A session:

  • A bug has been fixed where high-caliber rounds did not function properly with hand cannons, scout rifles, machine guns, and sniper rifles.

For weeks and months, there has been speculation about how Blizzard would intervene in the meta of Hearthstone. While it is balanced, it is quite one-sided. Pirates dominate in fast and aggressive decks.

Now it is known which cards Blizzard wants to change:

  • The Small Buccaneer will soon have only 1 health instead of 2 health points as it does now. This is intended to allow more classes to remove him more easily.
  • For Shaman, the 1/3 weapon Spirit Claws will become a 2-mana weapon. It was too strong in combination with Blood Mage Thalnos or the Shaman spell damage totem (it deals 3 damage with spell damage boost). Increasing the mana cost is meant to reduce the efficiency of the Shaman spending as much mana as he currently has.

Both cards have contributed to an aggressive “Rush” playstyle lately. Blizzard aims to achieve more diversity in the meta. The new changes are expected to come in February with an update.

Another change concerns ranked play. When players reach ranks 15, 10, or 5, they can no longer drop below those ranks, even if they experience a losing streak. These are “Safe Floors.” Previously, this was only the case at rank 20 and the Legend status.

hearthstone-dirty-rat-artwork

Blizzard has addressed the difficult balancing issue in a variety of posts. In summary, the balancing in Hearthstone has been as good as never – even the best decks had win rates very close to 50%. However, the same cards appeared in too many decks. Even though there was variety in the pirate decks, it always felt “the same” to either lose or win against them.

In “Rush” decks, games are often decided after just a few turns. On the other hand, playing “Control” decks can stretch a Hearthstone game for several minutes longer. For those who want to finish many games in a short time, “Rush” decks are the better choice.

Heroes of the Storm: WoW makes the HotS hero designer cry

The lead hero designer of Heroes of the Storm talks about the many freedoms and challenges in developing new (and old) heroes.

Tomorrow, the “For Azeroth” event begins in Heroes of the Storm, where players can earn new mounts in both HotS and World of Warcraft. On this occasion, Kent-Erik Hagman, the Lead Hero Designer of HotS, answered a lot of questions about the development of the various heroes.

HotS Medivh Casting Title

The freedom that developers have is often both a blessing and a curse. Especially with heroes that could not be played in other games and had few gameplay elements – like Chromie or Medivh – it can sometimes be difficult to capture the essence of the character properly.

“At the beginning, we wanted to make Medivh a healer. He had this powerful healing-over-time effect (30 seconds!) that he could give to his allies (Aegwynn’s Blessing). But time and again, we faced the problem that it didn’t align with the fantasy of portraying this powerful mage as a healer. When we combined that with additional abilities, like the ability to throw people into a tornado (which later became the Ley Line Seal) and him being able to fly around as a raven, he felt more like a druid of the claw than the Last Guardian of Azeroth!”

Blizzard Thrall Kerrigan Header

Later, Medivh was then made the “Negation Mage” which corresponds more to his appearance in Warcraft 3.

Another challenge is choosing the right point in a character’s history to transfer them into the game. Arthas could have been the peaceful paladin from Warcraft 3 instead of the Lich King, or Thrall could be the more tranquil “Earth healer” that he has become in the latest expansions of World of Warcraft. The expectations of players are important here when they hear a name and have a specific image in their mind:

“When we decide which version of a hero to take, that is a decision we make on a case-by-case basis. For example, Samuro had little appearance in WoW but perfectly fit the Blademaster combat style from Warcraft 3. The same goes for the “Mountain King” in the form of Muradin.”

Hots Tracer Murky Trailer

Hagman is particularly pleased when ideas from “his” game are also transferred to other games.

“Murky has a complete quest line in Legion, Rehgar was prominently featured in the quest “The Elements Call”. Better yet, you can even fight against Li Li and Chen in WoW, who use their abilities from Heroes of the Storm. To be honest, that brought a little tear of joy to my eye.

Overwatch: Blizzard takes action against Korean hackers – the ultimate solution?

Blizzard changes the rules for account creation in Korea – the hackers in Overwatch will be severely affected.

Hackers and cheaters are a global problem in Overwatch, but no region is hit harder than Korea, where there is almost no match without cheaters. The reason is that cheating in Korea is particularly easy and consequence-free. Most of the gaming occurs in the “PC Bangs” there.

PC Bangs are essentially internet cafes with high-performance computers, where you can play pre-installed games for an hourly fee – including Overwatch.

Overwatch Year of the Rooster Header

Cheaters create an American or European Battle.net account and log in with it at the PC Bangs – if the account is banned for cheating, they create a new one in a few seconds.

After banning thousands of players repeatedly, Blizzard is now reacting “properly” and changing the game rules in Korea. On Reddit, user lomotos10 translated Blizzard’s Korean post, which roughly includes the following points:

  • “We are trying to find every possible solution to tackle script creators and their distributors, including legal consequences.”
  • “Regarding issues outside the game client, we are currently addressing unusual VPN accesses from PC Bangs. (Such as individuals simulating that they are in a PC Bang and therefore enjoying all the ‘advantages.’)

The most important point is likely the last one:

  • “Starting from February 17, 2017, we will change the terms of use. Foreign accounts will be able to play games in Korean PC Bangs if they have activated a game license on their account (= the game purchased). This will initially only apply to Overwatch, soon Diablo 3 and StarCraft 2 will follow. Korean accounts are not affected by this change.”
overwatch-widowmaker-mistletoe

In Korea, only one account can be created per person anyway – anyone caught cheating with that account does not get a second chance.

Whether this will ultimately curb the cheaters and fraudsters remains to be seen. It will likely give the cheating player base a significant setback, as they would now have to buy a fresh copy of Overwatch every time the account is banned.

For Honor: Combos und Aktionen aller Helden – Spezial-Angriffe

In For Honor we present the key combinations for all combos (actions) of the twelve heroes.

The basics of the combat system in For Honor are learned quickly. At the start of the game, a tutorial shows you how to enter the guard mode, how to execute and parry attacks, how to break through defenses, and how to dodge strikes. You can read about these basics in our beginner guide.

However, the “Art of Battle” is more complex than it may seem at first glance. Each hero has unique traits, hero-specific special attacks, and combos. You can view these in-game by clicking on Customize in the main menu, selecting Heroes, choosing a character, pressing “How to Fight,” and then selecting the action list.

The Combos of All Heroes, Classes, Characters

Each hero has several combos (actions), which may also show symbols alongside the key combinations. These symbols mean, for example, Chain Attack (you must execute the strikes in an uninterrupted sequence) or Unblockable (this attack cannot be blocked).

The meanings of all symbols can be found in this screenshot:

Below you will see the key combinations for the PS4. On Xbox One and PC, you must press the respective equivalents.

  • R1 stands for Light Attack
  • R2 for Heavy Attack
  • Left Stick (L) for Move (in the corresponding direction)
  • Right Stick (R) for Weapon Position
  • Square for Break Guard
  • X for Dodge
  • L3 for Sprint

Keep in mind that you need to be in guard mode for most combos.

Update 6:55 PM: The update is now live. Here are the patch notes.

Finally! The long-awaited balancing update is coming tonight! Rarely have players looked forward so much to a sandbox patch – but this is desperately needed in Destiny, as the current meta has dominated for too long.

The update 2.5.0.2 will be released on February 14th at 7 PM our time. There will be no server downtime. It will be available on PS4 and Xbox One.

  • Starting at 7 PM: When you finish your activity and return to orbit, you will be taken to the login screen to download the hotfix. After that, you can continue playing as usual.
  • At 11 PM, all players who have not yet installed the hotfix will be removed from their activities. By now, you will be taken to the login screen, where you must download the hotfix.
destiny-guardian-falkenmond

By the way: Tomorrow, on February 15th, there will be several hours of maintenance work. However, you should still be able to continue playing as usual during that time.

What changes does update 2.5.0.2 bring? – Preliminary patch notes

Only this evening around 7 PM will the complete patch notes be released. We will report on it shortly and provide the important info in German.

The patch only makes sandbox tuning – no bug fixes or other new features will be included. This information was revealed in the livestream a week ago:

Shotguns:

  • No aim assist when fired from the hip
  • In jumps, the accuracy is significantly reduced
  • No additional damage for headshots (except Chaperon and Universal Device)
  • In PvE, the base damage is increased by 20%
  • With Snapshot, you take 25% longer to aim with a shotgun.

Pulse rifles:

  • 7.7% slower rate of fire for rapid-fire pulse rifles (Griff of Malok)
  • Smart Dragon and Griff of Malok come with smaller magazines
  • High-caliber rounds are weakened, but the flinch overall is also reduced for pulse rifles.
  • The slowest pulse rifles fire 5.3% faster.

Pulse rifles, scout rifles, and auto rifles are now more accurate when fired in the air.

Auto rifles:

  • Slow-firing (Suros Regime) deal more damage
  • Precision hits deal more damage (from 1.25 to 1.3)

Hand cannons:

  • Higher initial precision, but range is decreased by 5 meters.

Special ammo:

  • Upon death, you lose all your special ammo, but special ammo crates will appear more quickly.
  • You need to be closer to the crate to receive ammo.
  • When eliminated, players only start the first round with special ammo.

Class changes:

  • Hunter: The Blade Dancer’s knife gives back a large amount of health, but no shield anymore. The throwing knife now deals solar damage.
  • Warlock: The Stormcaller has less range in melee. Landfall is weakened and now reduces the time in trance.
  • Titan: Juggernaut is disabled when Titans are in the air – but this takes a while.

Hearthstone: Will golden cards be coming to the Arena soon? Ben Brode replies

In the arena of Hearthstone gold cards have been taboo so far. Whether that will change soon is revealed by Ben Brode in our interview.

In the past few days, we had the opportunity to conduct an extensive interview with Ben Brode, the Game Director of Hearthstone.

Herathstone Ben Brode

Gold cards are considered one of the “prestige” options in Hearthstone that allow for a bit of bragging. They are just as strong as regular cards but have elaborately designed graphical effects. You receive them either by playing a class for a long time, having great luck when opening packs, or simply spending large amounts of Arcane Dust to craft the cards directly.

However, so far golden cards can only be used in “Constructed” – the ranked and unranked game modes of Hearthstone. Fans of the Arena game mode, which is the biggest draw for part of the player base, are currently left out.

Our question was: Why are cards not golden in deck building in the arena that you own as “golden” in your own collection? Is there a specific reason why there are no golden cards in the arena?

Ben Brode gave us a clear answer:

“We believe that it would be a fantastic feature and are already working on it.”

WoW Hearthstone Succubus

So it is only a matter of time before the arena is also visited by “completely golden” decks – especially professional arena players like the streamer Kripparian are likely to enjoy it.

Generally, the developers of Hearthstone seem to be focusing more on the arena mode lately. Just recently, they published a “Top 100” list of the best arena players and announced that they will be adding more spells to the arena in the future. This aims to shed the reputation of “Curvestone”, where the player simply wins who has the minion with matching mana costs in hand for every turn.

Hearthstone’s next expansion has already been leaked: Lost Secrets of Un’Goro.
