Heroes of the Storm received a new loot mechanic with Update 2.0 that strongly resembles that of Blizzard’s hero shooter Overwatch. However, this small addition changes more about the gameplay than one might think.
Yet, my first contact with HotS 2.0 was rather disappointing. I had logged in with anticipation for dozens of loot boxes, but in the end, I only had a meager 13 boxes – 5 normal and 8 epic. Somehow, I had expected way more with over 80 levels in total. And both Schuhmann and Cortyn had much more loot than I did!
My first batch of boxes brought a better yield than expected, and so I eagerly set to work earning more boxes. Thanks to the mega hero box, I had now unlocked almost all characters in HotS and could therefore go all out. So I dived into the fray with various heroes and soon earned a few new boxes with even more loot.
Through the many games, I soon completed various quests and received a lot of gold, which I used again for rerolls to optimally exploit my loot boxes. It was simply fantastic! No matter what I did, I was rewarded! And I also had fun playing, because Heroes of the Storm is by no means a game I dislike.
Heroes of the Storm 2.0 – Positive reinforcement through loot
The many rewards motivated me even more to give my best and try as many new heroes as possible to earn loot with them. Don’t get me wrong, I played HotS back then with enthusiasm as well, but at some point the air was out because there simply wasn’t much to gain.
Sure, every now and then there was a master skin or a ranked reward, but most of the time the reward for the efforts was only plain gold, from which one could eventually buy a hero. However, I had eventually played all the heroes I liked, and thus the gold reward became less and less attractive over time. GameStop ends the promotion of the PlayStation 4 Pro for 99€ early. You have two days left to pre-order the PS4 Pro at the low price of 99€, if you part with your used PS4 and two games.
The drama around the “PS4 Pro for 99€” does not stop. GameStop released a new statement on Thursday afternoon.
The promotion, which was supposed to run until May 14, will now end on April 30. The reason is the high demand. GameStop wants to fulfill all pre-orders. And pre-orders are still possible for two more days.

Genji has become even deadlier after the 2.11 update in Overwatch . It doesn’t help that Officer D.Va is now in the game.
It was basically clear that the new skins from the “Nexus Challenge” of Heroes of the Storm needed a new patch to be activated. The latest update for Overwatch has brought a few other changes along with the “Officer D.Va” and “Oni Genji” skins. Especially fans of Genji will be pleased, as he received a clear buff.
The update is called 1.10.1 on PC – it is titled 2.11 on PS4 – this is due to different versioning across platforms.
Genji’s Dragonblade receives additional momentum
The most important change concerns Genji’s ultimate ability, the Dragonblade. It had been slightly nerfed in the last patch to fix a bug. Previously, players with high latency could strike more often than players with low ping. After this fix went live, all players could strike once less before the Dragonblade expires.
The slash animation of the blade has now been accelerated, allowing for more swings once again. At the same time, a bug was fixed where the strikes occasionally dealt no damage even though the target was clearly within the hitbox.
Tie-Breaker now has 33% rule
Another significant change has been made to the tie-breaker system for ranked matches. In the event of a tie, a team must capture at least 33% of a control point to be declared the winner. Previously, only 1% was necessary, which allowed characters like Tracer, Sombra, or Lúcio to secure victory on their own by reacting swiftly.
Furthermore, the new D.Va skin is now available in the game, which can be unlocked through the Nexus Challenge starting next week.
Further changes include small bug fixes and resolution of interface issues in the “Uprising” game mode.

Blizzard has disabled the hero D.Va in the hero shooter Overwatch – and this in all regions and on all platforms. However, this only lasted about 90 minutes. After the latest patch 1.10.1/2.11, issues apparently arose.
D.Va locked after patch 2.11 on PS4, Xbox One and PC – but only for 90 minutes
As Blizzard announced today around 7 AM in the US forum, the hero D.Va was deactivated after the latest patch 1.10.1/2.11. This was due to increased game crashes that occurred after the patch. Blizzard held D.Va responsible and promptly deactivated the hero on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One to tackle these problems with maximum urgency and priority.
According to Blizzard, the increased game crashes were most likely due to “D.Va’s presence in the games” – she didn’t even have to do anything specific, just be there to cause Overwatch to crash.
The deactivation of D.Va in Overwatch lasted only about 90 minutes. Around 8:30 AM our time, Bill Warnecke announced that the problem had been solved and D.Va was reactivated.
D.Va was also affected by the patch. Blizzard actually just intended to fix a bug here. Something likely went wrong in the patch, and Blizzard had to make corrections.

However, that wasn’t all. Last night, there was also maintenance work on PC, which aimed to resolve the serious issues following update 1.06. Additionally, there was an outage at Ubisoft’s servers for several hours yesterday. Gaming was not possible during this time.
Compensations are on the way
Due to these issues, Ubisoft is planning a compensation: Starting from April 28 (which is today), all players on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC will receive Champion status for three days for free. The Champion status grants you several advantages in the game, including higher XP gains. Therefore, it is particularly worthwhile to play during this time to level up the heroes.
