ARK: Survival Evolved recently received a huge update on PC – v257 – with plenty of new content. PS4 and Xbox players don’t have to wait long for the new dinos and Tek technologies.
The latest update for PC in Ark Survival Evolved was substantial. There were new dinos, new Tek technologies, and already first endgame content. Since each patch on consoles must first undergo a stringent certification process, updates always come with a slight delay to PS4 and Xbox One.
Studio Wildcard plans to bring the PC and console versions to the same level faster this time.
Ark patch is scheduled for next week
Jeremy Stieglitz is the lead designer of Ark Survival Evolved. In a tweet, he announced that PS4 and Xbox One can expect update v257 starting May 15. This is an approximate time frame that may shift slightly.

On PS4, the patch will likely have version number 1.20 and on Xbox One, the number will be v754, provided no small patch is inserted in between on consoles.
Destiny 2 will have exclusive content for the PS4. When this will come to Xbox One is still uncertain – as there is only a “minimum” indication.
Sony and Activision go hand in hand when it comes to Destiny 2. The Japanese corporation managed to secure the exclusive deal for the upcoming MMO shooter, just like for Destiny 1. To the dismay of Xbox players.
Such marketing deals are common in the gaming industry nowadays. While Microsoft and Xbox partner with The Division or FIFA 17, PlayStation is the first platform for Destiny or CoD. Players might get upset about this. But with exclusive deals, there is a lot of money at play.
Many players have already accepted that PS4 guardians will also be favored in Destiny 2 with bonus content. However, a new discussion on Reddit has flared up regarding time exclusivity: it is not being complained about the fact that there is one, but about how it is communicated. Namely, not at all transparent and player-friendly.
Time exclusive content until “at least autumn 2016” is still not in the game
PS-exclusive content was introduced in the game with The Taken King in September 2015, which was supposed to remain exclusive until “at least autumn 2016”. Xbox guardians were not particularly happy about this, but at least they had a target in mind for when they would receive the exclusive strike, weapons, and maps. The exclusive content from year 1 eventually became available to all guardians with the dawn of year 2.
After a year of patiently waiting, the nasty surprise came: exclusivity was extended indefinitely. Activision had initially indicated “minimum autumn 2016″, but no one really expected that the content would actually remain locked for Xbox players for more than a year.
Today is May 9, 2017. On the official PS page, it still states “time exclusive until at least autumn 2016”. And there is still no information on when the content will come to Microsoft’s console.
The Echo Chamber strike is still PS exclusive
From “at least” to “at most”, players demand
For Destiny 2, Activision and Sony are employing the same strategy again: On the Destiny page , it is indicated that bonus content will appear first on PS4, which is time exclusive until at least autumn 2018. What content this will be is still unknown. We can expect more information in the summer.
On Reddit, there are now demands for the responsible parties to be more precise with such time indications – or to just save themselves the trouble and write “for an indefinite period”. Because otherwise, guardians will once again look forward to a date, only to be bitterly disappointed. A “minimum” indication is neither transparent nor in the interest of the players.
Exclusive deals are all well and good – but players should be openly informed about how long they have to wait for the content. Other games manage this as well. A “maximum until” indication would be much more transparent than a “minimum until” indication.
Whether Sony and Activision will make more concrete statements about this in the future remains unlikely. After all, a “minimum” ensures better protection in case of date shifts than a specific date.
Perhaps the contract states that the time exclusivity for the content from “The Taken King” cannot be lifted until the release of Destiny 2 – and this release has been postponed from 2016 to 2017…
But as an outsider, unfortunately, one cannot look into the exact agreements of these exclusive deals.
The Secret World Legends, the remake of the horror MMO The Secret World, is still in closed beta. However, the game is set to be re-released as a “Shared World RPG” in a few weeks.
The Secret World is an unusual online role-playing game that, unlike many other games in the genre, does not focus on raids and fantasy, but has a story-based horror setting in the modern world as its theme. Unfortunately, the game was not very accessible and was cumbersome. However, the developers at Funcom have not given up yet and are bringing The Secret World back under the name The Secret World Legends as a kind of action MMO.
The remake has been announced for a while now and has a concrete release date.
The Secret World Legends – Release in June
The Secret World Legends is set to be released on June 26, 2017, according to Funcom. Unlike the old TSW, the game will not be an MMORPG, but a “Shared World RPG.” This means that the developers at Funcom intend for players to primarily roam around the central quest hub and mostly remain in the adventure zones. Additionally, you will finally be able to explore the regular areas solo if you don’t bring friends.

In addition to these features, the developers at Funcom want to overhaul the cumbersome combat system, improve player progression, and enhance the graphics. The game is also set to become more accessible overall. Many of the new features of The Secret World Legends can be seen in the new trailer created by the developers at Funcom for the game’s relaunch. Have fun!

A change in the Gamemaster file of Pokémon GO has likely increased the drop chances of special items. Have you noticed anything?
If there are changes in Pokémon GO, experts often notice them through timestamps in the game’s Gamemaster file. Apparently, new settings for the game were made a few hours ago that increase the chances of special items like Sun Stone, Up-Grade, or other evolution items. Trainers have reported receiving three Evo items as rewards on the seventh day.
Evolution stones drop more often
Latest information suggests that the Pokémon GO developers at Niantic have increased the drop rate of evolution stones. Trainers have reported in the last few hours that the yield of these items is higher than usual. They indicated that these changes have only been noticeable for a few hours. Reports of these increased items have risen in the last hours.
The yield from PokéStops has increased for many trainers. One player showed a screenshot that he received not just one Evo item but three on the seventh day. It is also reported that the drop rate has been increased for activating PokéStops that are not on the seventh day. Other trainers report this on Reddit. The following screenshot shows the strong yield of a trainer from Canada.
Screenshot from Reddit user Thermocap
The experts from PokémonGOHub subsequently checked the Gamemaster file and found that indeed today, May 9 at 03:00 UTC (that is, 05:00 German time) there were changes. These are likely related to these special items with which you can evolve your Pokémon.
What is the Gamemaster file at all? The file “GAME_MASTER” is part of Pokémon GO and is responsible for settings. It is downloaded from the Pokémon GO servers and saved on your Android or iOS device.
Changes are now being observed
Previously, the drop chance for evolution stones was about 0.03%. Due to the recent changes, this chance may have significantly increased. In the coming days, the feedback from trainers will be monitored to find out if this was a permanent change by the developers or just a test that is temporarily active.
Have you noticed the increased chances for the evolution items?
How nice would it be if Genji from Overwatch never had to sheathe his sword again? Well, with this bug, it’s possible.
Every Genji player looks forward to the moment when the ultimate is fully charged and the Dragonblade can be unleashed. For a few seconds, the sword swings vigorously and often completely dismantles opposing teams – especially when there’s an Ana or Mercy backing up the effort.
On Reddit, user MajorAwesome1 showed a clip where he, as Genji named Techsupport, attempts to fend off the payload on Route 66. As he draws his Dragonblade, something strange happens: it never ends. Swing after swing, he hacks away at the enemies and can hardly believe his luck, which can be heard loudly from the recording.

Although the exact details are unknown, timing seems to have played a big role here. Genji was stunned at just the moment he draws his blade and pulled by Roadhog, but right before his ultimate meter is depleted. Since Roadhog does not kill him, the game “glitches” and already grants him the ability of the Dragonblade. The result is that he hacks and hacks and hacks and hacks without end…
Blizzard has not commented on this bug so far, but it may also be very difficult to reproduce this error deliberately or even to exploit it effectively in a match, as too many factors have to come together.
Nonetheless, it is a bug in the game that hopefully will be fixed soon. Generally, Genji’s Dragonblade is very prone to bugs and has already received several fixes.
A player owes his life to the good old The Elder Scrolls 3 – Morrowind. Because he had a physical Special Edition instead of a Steam version, the player escaped a potentially deadly bullet.
Special Editions of games are real eye-catchers and adorn the rooms of many gamers. But sometimes Special Editions do more than just look good. In a curious case, a TES: Anthology allegedly stopped a bullet that would have otherwise killed or seriously injured a player: “Morrowind” saved the player’s life.
Savior Morrowind – Bullet got stuck in collector’s box
The player and Imgur user Velorok was sitting peacefully at his PC playing the new game Prey.
Suddenly there was a bang, and a bullet broke through the wall, heading straight for Velorok! But the gamer was lucky because his anthology of The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind happened to be in the way and caught the bullet.
The bullet pierced the cardboard sleeve and gnawed its way through the internals of the box. Then it shattered the CD case of the main game, only to finally come to rest in the included add-ons. Velorok managed to escape with just a fright and a completely ruined Special Edition.
Velorok took some photos of the damage and the bullet holes in the wall and the game after the police arrived and uploaded them to Imgur. Soon, Bethesda, the creators of Morrowind, caught wind of the story and offered to gift Velorok a new version of The Elder Scrolls Anthology.
By the way, it is unclear why someone shot at Velorok’s house, and whether it was a targeted attack, a stupid prank, or collateral damage.

A new Ghost Recon Wildlands leak shows five classes for different playstyles in PvP. All have different loadouts.
In Ghost Recon Wildlands, the feelings of the community have been fluctuating lately. The release of the game went well, fans were excited and played the various missions as Ghosts in the virtual Bolivia. However, the Narco Road DLC did not go over well and faced much criticism for its non-tactical content, such as monster trucks.
Now, the mood may be turning around again, as leaks provide the first insights into the PvP mode that Ubisoft has barely mentioned so far.
PvP Mode with Assault and Engineer Class
The information about the PvP mode in Ghost Recon Wildlands has been sparse. It is known that a “4 against 4” mode is set to come, focusing on the tactical component of the game and activated in a free update. In a leak, information about the classes for the PvP mode has emerged. You will have the choice between Assault, Engineer, Scout, Sniper, and Support.
This data was discovered by the administrator from the Farcrymods forum JRavens, who has already shown leaks about costumes and the Yeti hunt in the past. Since it is just a leak and the contents seem to need more work, there is currently no guarantee that the classes will be implemented “as is” in the game.
Each class has different loadouts and focuses on different playstyles in the matches. While the Assault class stands at the front with assault rifles, a sniper provides cover from a distance. Supporters and engineers can carry mines. We show you the standard equipment of the various classes from the PvP leak.
Assault in Wildlands
As an Assault, according to the leak, you have an ACR assault rifle as your primary weapon and a silenced P45 pistol as your secondary weapon, as well as four grenades. A scanner, medium armor, night vision, and binoculars are also part of the loadout.
Engineer in Wildlands
Engineers in GRW seem to be more versatile than Assaults. In the inventory, you have four mines that you can set as traps for enemies by mining key paths on maps. Instead of the scanner, the engineer has a drone and presumably uses SMGs (in the loadout a P90). They also wear medium armor and carry the P45 as a sidearm. Their equipment includes two grenades, as well as night vision and binoculars.
Scout in Wildlands
The Scout is a “lighter” version of the Engineer. This is evident as this class has a speed bonus of 15% and a stamina bonus of 50%. They carry two grenades and a P90 SMG, which can, however, be equipped with a suppressor. The P45 sidearm for this class does not have a suppressor. Although the armor is also displayed as “Medium,” the lines and displayed bonuses suggest that this is a lighter armor type than the Engineer.
Night vision goggles and binoculars are also part of this loadout. However, they must forgo mines. Like the Assault class, there is a scanner and no drone.
Sniper in Wildlands
As a Sniper, you excel in Wildlands not through strong armor, but through your main activity: kills from a distance. For this, you carry an M40A5 rifle with a TARS101 scope. Instead of a drone or scanner, Snipers carry a jammer that can presumably counter drones or scanners. Like the Engineer and Scout, they carry two grenades. To avoid being easily detected, there is a camouflage suit.
Support in Wildlands
The Support class seems to be the heaviest class in Wildlands, as the only class they have negative effects on speed (-10%) and stamina (-40%). They are armed with an MK48 LMG and the P45 with a suppressor as a secondary weapon. Their loadout also includes two mines and four grenades. They wear heavy armor, which is presumably responsible for the speed penalty. Like the other classes, they carry night vision goggles and binoculars.
The Elder Scrolls Online offers a new raid with the new chapter addon Morrowind. In the “Halls of Fabrication”, you will encounter rampaging Clockwork monsters and even the terrain itself is dangerous.
For The Elder Scrolls Online, the first big chapter addon Morrowind will arrive on June 6th. In it, your path will eventually lead you to the new raid “Halls of Fabrication”. There, malicious Clockwork creatures cause havoc and deadly traps make your life difficult.
The Elder Scrolls Online Morrowind – Deadly Clockworks
Deep beneath Vvardenfell lies the “City of Clockworks”, a replica of Tamriel with enchanted gears built by the god-king Sotha Sil as an experiment. But something went wrong and malevolent Clockwork creatures pour forth from the depths.
Therefore, the legendary wizard Divayth Fyr – players of the old Morrowind surely remember him – has recruited your heroes. You are to descend into the depths of the “Halls of Fabrication” with him and see that all is right.
The Elder Scrolls Online Morrowind – Halls of Fabrication – The Most Complex Raid
Just as the many Clockworks in the Halls of Fabrication are complex mechanisms, the whole raid is more intricate and elaborate than previous raids in ESO. This already starts with the many traps and deadly elements of the environment. There are, for example, whirling blades, electric arcs, and shock walls that can just as easily kill your heroes as the many Clockwork guardians.
In order to defeat the bosses, you will need two tanks and the precision of a clockwork, as each of the five final bosses will display particularly complex and challenging mechanics. Without good timing, nothing will work here! However, to help you get to the bosses faster, the developers have placed fewer trash mobs in between. The existing mini enemies are already aligned with the mechanics of the boss and prepare you for the final battle.
As a reward for all the efforts, four new armor sets await, including the “War Machines” set. This set provides the powerful buff “Greater Butcher”, granting you a damage bonus in dungeons and raids. Ideal for further visits to the Halls of Fabrication.
In addition, there will be new animation sets, trophies for housing, and plenty of achievements for successful raiders. For example, there is finally an achievement that rewards you for clearing the raid without dying. A new feature in ESO!
Sometimes they come back. The MMORPG classic Metin 2 is now also playable on Steam.
Metin 2 is probably already one of the grandfathers among MMORPGs. In December 2006, the Asia MMO launched in Germany and has managed to stay on the market to this day. The German/European version is even among the most successful in the world. Now the online game is also available on Steam and, like the regular version, uses a free-to-play model.
Hardly any quests, but a lot of grinding
Metin 2 takes place in a fictional Asian world, where chaos reigns after the impact of a meteor, the Metin Stone.
You create a character from the classes warrior, ninja, sura (a kind of mix between fighter and magician), as well as shaman and the wolf people lycan.
In principle, Metin 2 offers a very classic MMO fare. You are relatively free in what you do in the game, and grinding is at the top of the list. There are very few quests; mainly, it’s about exploring the game world and fighting the plants and animals gone wild due to the Metin Stone.
This way, your hero improves over time, acquires more powerful equipment, and can take on stronger enemies. Leveling up your hero goes relatively quickly, which provides a motivational boost for many players and encourages them to embark on another journey into the wilderness or the dangerous dungeons. In the cities, on the other hand, you turn your loot into cash and buy better equipment.
PvP plays a big role
In addition to the class, you also choose one of the kingdoms Shinsoo, Chunjo, or Jinno, which are at war with each other. Thus, PvP battles also play a large role. Once you have reached level 15 (out of 120), you can declare yourself ready for PvP, which takes place in the open game world. Guild wars are also possible.
Crafting also plays a role, allowing you to create particularly powerful weapons. With mounts, you can travel faster from point A to point B and, together with your guild, it’s possible to conquer and cultivate lands.
Due to its age, Metin 2 offers dusty graphics that cannot keep up with modern MMORPGs. However, fans of classic fare might overlook this.

A trend that keeps appearing in online games is barcode names. What is behind this in games like LoL or The Division?
It seems strange at first glance. Normally, players in games have names, fantasy designations, or tags that sound particularly martial or catchy. In fantasy games, they are called Leeegolas or Darkélf42, you might meet a Grunzor or the Facemeltor next door – strange combinations of letters that are somewhat recognizable as a name.
But there are also players who call themselves IIllIIllIIIllIIIlllIIllll. Why do they do that?
IIIIlllllIII and his buddy llllIIIIlll
These barcode names are about disguising oneself.
Now, this isn’t usually a big deal, because people with this name stand out in a sea of “normal names.” But what if an opposing team consists entirely of people with “barcode names”? How can you then tell who the supporter is and who the damage dealer is?
That is exactly the idea behind it in games like “The Division.” Because players who use barcode names are simply not identifiable in The Division in a team that consists only of people with such names.
They killed lllllllIIII – the pigs!
The names are formed, for example, with a capital “I” (Ieh) or a lowercase “l” (el). Combinations of these are indistinguishable.
It is unclear who the damage dealer or healer is, even if the match has already started. This way, opponents cannot prioritize, cannot say: We will all fire together at “Facemeltor,” then Grunzor and Darklegolas are no problem anymore, without their supporters.
This is the advantage of barcode names in games where teamwork matters.
In Starcraft Brood War, barcode names were popular 5 years ago.
Being anonymous sometimes has advantages
But even when playing alone, it can be an advantage if you usually know each other. Especially in Starcraft: Brood War, this was very common a few years ago. Even today, it is associated with Korean professionals.
At a high level, some pro players have such a reputation, such fame, that other opponents at that level know how the pro player acts and which tactics he prefers, so that the name can become a disadvantage: “There is Grunzor, he always plays these roles and hangs around these spots, I can prepare for that.”
Moreover, barcode names are harder to “report” when a system requires the name to be spelled out in a ticket.
Oh God, there is IIIIllllIIIllll – We are all going to die!
At some times, barcode names were so “feared” that opposing players simply left the match when they were to face a team with such names. Because they knew: We will get beaten.
In many games, “barcode names” are an old habit that has since disappeared because developers intervened or because “fame” is now more valuable in the age of Twitch and Youtube than such gameplay advantages.
While the “barcode names” still lend a kind of “mystery reputation” and many first think of someone seasoned as a pro when they call themselves that.
In The Division, barcode names are a problem
In The Division, “barcode names” were, until recently, a problem. YouTuber MarcoStyle points this out along with other issues to justify that The Division has significant problems with balancing.

In ARK: Survival Evolved, everything is being prepared for the full release. This includes the “Ascension”, the rise. This rise is supposed to represent the endgame. But what is behind Ascension? It is a kind of “New Game+.” We will reveal to you what is known so far.
Currently, Studio Wildcard is working hard on the release version of ARK Survival Evolved. The game is supposed to go into full release “soon”. However, the developers are not yet providing a specific date. The last PC patch – v257 – contains numerous changes that prepare the survival MMO for the endgame. In particular, the overhaul of the Engram tree and the volcano are part of the extensive preparation for the “Ascension”.
The overhaul of the volcano and the engrams prepares for Ark’s endgame
Engrams are permanent “crafting recipes” in Ark that allow survivors to create things like weapons and equipment. Engrams can be understood as skills that survivors acquire throughout the game.
In the last patch, the engram points were reset – players must redistribute them. This also includes lowering the level cap from 105 to 100. The dormant volcano has been a challenging Tek Cave since patch v257. Only the strongest survivors can enter and conquer the volcano.
But what does this have to do with Ark’s endgame and what does “Ascension” mean in this context?
Ascension – The Resurrection
In the official FAQ from Ark’s Steam community, the question also arose as to what exactly is meant by Ascension. Studio Wildcard’s lead community manager, Jat, revealed in his response that survivors will be resurrected as new characters through the Ascension.
Players can imagine the process of Ascension like this:
Survivors must defeat all bosses and enter a volcano to reach the endgame.
Players must conquer an extremely difficult dungeon to potentially travel through a stargate.
There is a fourth, final boss – that must also be defeated.
Players will have to sacrifice their character to “beat” the game.
This leads to the “resurrection” with a new character. This is supposed to allow players to experience the true nature of the Ark.
Survivors receive a “Soul Cube” in the process and can achieve new, progressive level caps.
Survivors who have gone through this process will face tougher enemies and bosses after their resurrection.
This kind of “higher difficulty” after “completing” a game is also known by the video game term “New Game Plus” or “NewGame+” – the “Nightmare Mode” in Diablo 3 is a typical example of this.
To what extent ARK will implement the “New Game+” model is currently still unclear.
Since Patch v257, the volcano is a Tek Cave – Only advanced players can enter
The volcano in the center was transformed into a Tek Cave with patch v257. The volcano is therefore the extremely hard dungeon that must be mastered for the endgame. Survivors can only enter the volcano after defeating each of the three bosses in Ark. With that, we can tick off the points “enter a volcano, extreme difficult dungeon, and defeat all bosses”. This endgame content has been in the game since the last patch.
In the patch notes for v257, there is also a note regarding “Ascension Game Progression”. Those who conquer the new Tek Cave on the Alpha, Beta, and Gamma levels will receive a reward. Alpha, Beta, and Gamma represent the difficulty levels Hard, Medium, and Easy. Players who complete these three difficulty levels will receive additional levels – up to +15. These will be a new type of level: Ascension Levels. With them, survivors will likely be able to surpass the new level cap of 100.
The Ascension Level will be displayed on the implants of the survivors.
How the further announced content for the endgame will be designed is still unclear at this time. It can be assumed that survivors will undergo some sort of “rebirth”.
What the journey through the stargate will look like, what exactly the “Soul Cube” is, and how the resurrection will run in detail is still unknown. Studio Wildcard is currently working full steam ahead on the endgame. Perhaps we won’t have to wait too long for these answers.
What do you think the resurrection process will look like? Do you like the idea behind it?
Dead people should rest – but not in World of Warcraft. The Game Director clarifies that there is still more to the Warchief Vol’jin.
Anyone interested in the story of World of Warcraft has probably had only one topic since the last Q&A of the Game Director Ion Hazzikostas: Vol’jin. Until the beginning of the “Legion” expansion, Vol’jin was the Warchief of the Horde and the leader of the Darkspear Clan.
However, during the attack on the Broken Shore, he was wounded by a weapon infused with demonic magic. As a result of this attack, he succumbed to his injuries in Orgrimmar a few days later. As his last act, Vol’jin announced that the “spirits had provided clarity.” He appoints Sylvanas as the new Warchief before being burned on a funeral pyre.
Vol’jin’s story is not over yet
At BlizzCon 2016, fans asked whether there would be more from Vol’jin, as many mysteries – especially the appointment of Sylvanas – had not yet been clarified and make little sense without context. At that time, it was announced that “Vol’jin’s story is not over,” which relieved the fans.
After hundreds of complaints on Reddit and in the official forums, Hazzikostas now explained on Twitter and confirmed what many had already suspected. The remark about Vol’jin was meant as a joke. Although Vol’jin is indeed dead, his legacy would still leave much room for stories that still need to be told.

Many fans are also speculating about a resurrection story. Trolls have a tendency towards “life after death” and enjoy dealing with zombies, ghosts, and Loa. Almost every troll instance features some “undead” trolls, which is why many players wish for Vol’jin to get a second chance – even if it’s as a different being.
What do you wish for the conclusion of Vol’jin’s story?

D.Va’s trait has two states: Mech Mode and Pilot Mode. In Mech Mode, she has access to all her normal abilities and can move while firing. If the mech is destroyed, she switches to Pilot Mode, where she is very fragile but deals high single-target damage and can ultimately call her mech again.
Booster works just like in Overwatch. D.Va charges in the desired direction for a few seconds and deals damage upon contact with enemies. The ability can be canceled early.
Defensive Matrix projects a shield right in front of the mech. Enemies within the field deal heavily reduced damage. D.Va can move in the meantime but cannot change the direction of her mech’s view. This ability can also be canceled early.
If desired, D.Va can trigger Self-Destruct. She exits her mech, which explodes after a relatively long delay, dealing massive damage. The mech can be moved with Booster beforehand and then stopped at the desired location. After the explosion, D.Va can immediately call her mech again. Self-Destruct can only be triggered if D.Va has taken and/or dealt enough damage beforehand.
D.Va’s first heroic ability is Bunny Hop and works only in Mech Mode. D.Va’s mech jumps multiple times on the ground, dealing area damage. Hit enemies are slowed down. D.Va can move while using the ability.
The second heroic ability Big Gun can only be used in Pilot Mode. It deals high damage in a straight line with a short cooldown and drastically reduces the time until D.Va can call a new mech.
Are you fast enough for Quake Champions? You can find out this coming weekend when the big Tech Test (Open Beta) of the shooter starts.

Unlike other tests, you can participate during its entire duration and are not limited to specific days or times to access the game.
For nine days, from May 12 to May 21, you can play various aspects like champions and maps and provide feedback to the developers. The confidentiality agreement will also end on May 12, meaning you are allowed to stream the Tech Test or share pictures and videos from it online.
Sacrifice Mode – 4v4
The Sacrifice mode is new and will be available in the Tech Test. Teams of four players each compete against each other in this mode. Here, not only the individual players’ skills are required, but also your team spirit. The developers point out in the announcement that you must work together with your team to be victorious in the arena.
Sign up for Tech Test
If you are eager to try out the new Quake, you can register for it on the official website. Currently, the registration phase for the Closed Beta is still active there. It is unclear whether there will be a new registration for the Tech Test, or if the Closed Beta registration will be used for it. However, since every player is accepted for the Tech Test, you will see where you need to register at the latest when the test starts on May 12.
The Mistress of Nesting, Symmetra, will soon receive new legendary skins in Overwatch.
If you follow the discussions around Overwatch in the official forums and on Reddit, you might think that it’s only about the cosmetic items in the game and not about giving the opposing team a proper run for their payload.
Especially when some heroes have been showered with new skins during numerous in-game events, while other characters have almost gone empty, frustration builds up piece by piece. In the official forum, some players have now asked when it will finally be Symmetra’s turn to receive a legendary skin. After all, she hasn’t been given a new legendary skin since the release of the game – just like Pharah and Hanzo.
Symmetra has occasionally received skins – but none of them were “legendary”.
Jeff Kaplan, the Game Director of Overwatch, commented on this post in the official forum and explained:
“I believe Symmetra fans will be very pleased soon.”
This is of course not a timeframe, but Overwatch will soon be a year old and by now, all players firmly expect that Blizzard will hold a corresponding in-game event to celebrate.
There are already hints in the game files of the PTR, where users found a voiceline from Winston that suggests it could be “back to the moon”.
Overwatch heroes come in all shapes and sizes. All? Even as bowls with lukewarm water? Yup.
Few games have quickly built such an engaged community as the hero shooter Overwatch by Blizzard. Even before its release, fans designed elaborate cosplay costumes, created thousands of fan arts, and let’s not even start talking about the fanfiction section.
Now, the artist Lukidjano has created the next special feature. He has taken all the heroes of Overwatch and given them a new form. Not as anime characters or cats – but as bowls with lukewarm water. Each hero received their own interpretation, and especially the many details that made it into this rather unusual project are remarkable.
Brilliant or a jump in the bowl?
You could of course stare unbelievingly at the screen and quietly whisper “Why?” into the emptiness of your room. Or you simply accept that art sometimes takes strange paths. The choice is yours.
All images by Lukidjano can be found on his Deviantart page in our sources.
Whether this is brilliant or if someone has “taken a jump in the bowl”, you have to decide for yourselves.
The range of feelings when viewing the images can probably be best described by two comments from Deviantart about the bowls:
In the MMO shooter Destiny we sit back and enjoy the videos of the week: This time with extremely musical weapons!
Monday evening – the first day of the week is done again, now it’s time to put your feet up, play your favorite game, or watch a video or two. With five new videos we can now contribute to your evening plans. We present this week’s videos from Destiny, of which Bungie provides three, supplemented by two works from our community.
This time, a PvP montage was able to carry the title “Video of the Week”. It is called “Triple Tap” and is by Ascendant Nomad:

A commendable mention went to this work, which is called “Lost in Music”. That is the video we refer to in our title. At first, you don’t really know where it’s heading, but then it surprises with musical creativity. With well-known weapons from Destiny, music is made:

Bungie’s last video is another Crucible montage called Fractures. Have fun with it:

From our community, we received a cool video from Todesfuß Gaming: In it, you see a fight against Atheon in the Glass Chamber, which the Guardians manage to win at the last moment. That was close!

The reveal trailer for Call of Duty WW2 is getting a great response. This cannot be said about the “Infinite Warfare” reveal.
At the end of April, Activision and Sledgehammer Games let the cat out of the bag: The next installment of the CoD franchise will be called Call of Duty WW2 and will take place in a “World War II” setting. After the sci-fi settings of the last few years with Advanced Warfare, Black Ops 3, and Infinite Warfare, it goes back to the past in 2017. The fans are excited!
With Infinite Warfare, the CoD title from 2016, the situation was quite the opposite: The reveal trailer received tons of dislikes and became the worst rated trailer on Youtube overall.

After just a few days, the IW trailer had to take 1.5 million thumbs down, which meant a negative record for a trailer on Youtube. Now, a good year later, the trailer has a whopping 3.5 million dislikes. A nightmare for those responsible!
The main reason for this is quickly found: The futuristic space setting was not well received at all by the passionate fan community. Zooming through space in spaceships and hopping around in zero gravity – that was and is too far removed from what one imagines a Call of Duty to be. Battlefield’s “World War I” setting was much better received, which won over the favor of shooter fans.
A few days ago, Activision’s CEO Eric Hirshberg admitted that Infinite Warfare was indeed the wrong game at the wrong time. Financially as well, IW was not the success they had planned, said Hirshberg.
WW2 will now return to the roots of Call of Duty. This will be“the right game at the right time from the right development team.”

During the reveal of CoD: WW2, the developers emphasized several times: “Boots on the Ground”. This means that the game will not be a futuristic space shooter with laser guns, wall runs, jetpacks, or high-tech suits, but rather a grounded shooter that focuses on realism – where soldiers truly have their boots on the ground.
And this is well received: The reveal trailer for WW2 has not received 1.5 million dislikes like its predecessor, but “only” 80,000. They are met with an overwhelming majority of nearly one million likes.
This has allowed those responsible to completely turn the mood in the CoD fan community around. According to Activision boss Bobby Kotick, the negative social media sentiment that was a huge problem last year has dissipated. The “Youtube dislike nightmare” is now over and has been replaced by hundreds of thousands of likes for the reveal trailer.
The WW2 trailer is by the way the trailer in CoD history that reached 10 million views the fastest – after just one day.
Last Friday, we wanted to know from you where you prefer to play MMOs. The results are now available and are quite clear.
In our last article from the series “My-MMO asks”, we wanted to know: “Where will you play your MMOs in the future?” The options included PC, console, mobile device, and combinations of the three platforms. So far, we have received 596 responses in our survey and analyzed them.
Future MMO Platforms – PC in the Lead
The results of the survey are clear: 46 percent of MMO fans on our site prefer PC as their platform for MMOs. Consoles like PS4 and Xbox One follow in second place with a respectable 28 percent.
More than a quarter of all players seem to enjoy their MMOs using a gamepad while sitting on the couch. 14 percent, on the other hand, prefer both and play on PC and console.
Mobile Games Only in Combination with PC or Console
However, almost no one seems to be playing mobile MMOs. Only 1 percent of respondents can imagine MMOs solely on a smartphone or tablet. Interestingly, 5 percent likely play mobile in tandem with a PC, while 3 percent are trying the duo with a console.
In total, 12% of our readers can imagine being mobile – but they don’t want to miss out on their preferred platform. Mobile games are probably mainly attractive as secondary games when they’re not at their PC or console. However, it seems that the PC has the upper hand again. 3 percent of respondents are particularly cosmopolitan and can imagine playing on PC, console, and mobile device equally in the future.
What do you think of the results? Did you expect this, or are you surprised by the poor showing of mobile devices? What do you think is the reason for their weak performance in the survey? Let us know in the comments!
