What are the Trials of Osiris?

It seems that the anti-bot measures are affecting map providers more than many trainers in the Pokémon GO community wanted to believe.
When it became known that Niantic is now cracking down harder on cheaters, opinions in the community were divided. Some were pleased that there would be fewer bots in the future, while others could not accept that these measures would be effective and merely laughed about it.
As it turns out, the measures are more effective than expected. The developers of Rocket Map explain that they must surrender in the short term.
Rocket Map – Bot detection works too well?
In a public statement, the team from Rocket Map stated that the new security features from Niantic are a major blow to third-party trackers, bot users, and (regular) spoofers. Rocket Map is one of the largest and most widely used trackers.
It seems that Niantic has had particularly great success in detecting bot accounts. Because the accounts are practically “blinded” and can no longer find rare Pokémon, trackers and live maps become useless for many trainers. Additionally, the blinding also affects the future of an account. Blinded accounts, after they are no longer blinded, are detected faster by the anti-cheat functions.
According to statements from the Rocket Map developers, several factors must be addressed before their tracker will work again under the current security conditions. This work is expected to take several months!
This means: If Niantic adds more security features during these months, it could take even longer for the tracker to function properly again.
“All third-party scanners are affected”
In the official statement from Rocket Map, the developers explain that all third-party scanners and apps are equally affected. Many providers initially denied this and claimed that the statement was false. However, most of them simply did not realize that their bot accounts had been blinded.
The developers observed the following:
Blinded accounts can be unblinded after 6 to 10 days.
The reuse of unblinded accounts in a third-party app (regardless of which one) causes the account to be blinded faster than before. This can sometimes happen after just a few hours.
Anyone who buys accounts for scanning should assume that these accounts have already been blinded once and will therefore be blinded again quickly.
These changes will hardly affect spoofers who spoof irregularly. However, regular spoofers and bots are slowly decreasing, as their account base is being consumed by the new security measures.
Bots and spoofers are heavily dependent on third-party trackers. They need the trackers to carry out their fraudulent actions. Niantic’s security measures presumably target not just the trackers, but the large bot networks and account sellers.
Currently, one of the hottest games in summer 2017 is PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG). The interview provides hints about what is being worked on.

PlayerUnknown is Brendan Greene, and he was in an interview with the US site Gamespot. His game “PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds” is currently a hit on Steam. Zenimax has imposed some bans in The Elder Scrolls Online. Apparently, there was a severe skill exploit last week. Players could collect infinite skill points by beating a certain cave boss.
Yesterday, community manager GinaBruno posted in the ESO forum. There was an exploit on PC last week. Those who exploited it could “repeatedly” gather skill points from a specific location.
In The Elder Scrolls Online, there are practically unlimited skill points that can be invested in various skill lines: Your class has 3 skill lines, the race has its own, plus weapons, armor, the different guilds, and crafting professions – and much more.
With skill points, you can do a lot in The Elder Scrolls Online.
Zenimax has already fixed the exploit with the last patch – now it’s about the punishment.
3-Day Ban for Skill Exploit
Zenimax has caught about 300 PC accounts and will impose a “3-Day Ban” on them – in addition, the ill-gained skill points will be removed and reset to the state before their exploit.
What Was the Exploit About? Generous Boss
From the complaints of the banned players, it seems that a group event in a public dungeon was the problem. It apparently provided infinite skill points.
In the German forum, a banned player says, he saw in a cave that many players were hitting a boss. And then he joined in and wondered why there was a skill point for every kill.
Too Lenient Punishment?
The report sparks a discussion about whether a “3-Day Ban” is too lenient a punishment for the issue.
It is then compared with previous ban waves and their scope.
People affected by the ban argue that they were just curious and seeking perfection. They can hardly be blamed for that.
Some, like the German player, ended up in this situation completely innocently, thinking nothing of it.
Others say they reported the exploit to Zenimax and were still banned.
Still others speak of “false positives”, meaning they were banned innocently.
This is the normal procedure after such a ban. Some call for harsher penalties. But many also think that a 72-hour ban is already appropriate.
The good news: The Morrowind expansion is set to release on June 6 – in 4 days. By then, the suspension should be over.

About six months ago, contact was first made with aliens in the space online game Elite Dangerous. These Thargoids are now appearing on planets.
The first encounter with the aliens took place in space. Spaceships were seemingly pulled from hyperspace at random and then scanned by a gigantic ship, which subsequently vanished into the depths of space. Now the aliens are back.
Thargoid Alarm!
This time you will encounter the Thargoids on planetary surfaces. They appear near so-called Barnacles, mysterious alien structures that can be found on some worlds.
If you find yourself with your rover near such a structure, an alien spaceship may appear. Your systems fail and you can do nothing but watch. Other players nearby can also do nothing during the encounter.
Aliens are invincible
However, one player managed to get his rover back to his ship in time, which seemed to trigger some sort of bug, as he could control his ship and also fire at the spaceship. But it took no damage.
Since it seems that attacking the Thargoids is not intended at this stage, the ship is likely indestructible. During this encounter with the aliens, one can see a sort of energy beam forming between the ship and the barnacle. Afterwards, the aliens fly away again.

Developers Look to the Future
For the future, some changes to the events are planned to make them more fun. However, first all regular Chase events will be run again in July before the changes are implemented in the game. The team is also working on new updates for WildStar. Game update 1.7.2 has been announced for June 7, which will bring “Prime Raids” with Prime 1 Y-83.

Astellia also offers gigantic battles involving hundreds of players and monsters. Both in PvE and PvP, players should find something to enjoy. For example, exciting arena fights frequently take place in a coliseum.
Plenty to do in a colorful world
Otherwise, you can expect a large game world that is colorful yet detailed and which you can explore with mounts. Danger and challenges lurk everywhere that you need to overcome to improve your hero. You can get a sense of how Astellia plays through the closed beta – provided you speak Korean, as the Astellia website is currently only available in that language.

The deck system of Astellia could be the aspect that the game needs to be somewhat successful here in Germany. Not many Asia MMORPGs manage to establish themselves in Europe.
Nevertheless, the game leaves a very good impression. It looks good and the massive battles as well as the fights against boss opponents could be very fun.

When thinking of games with a large role-playing community, titles like Guild Wars 2, World of Warcraft, or Neverwinter Nights come to mind first. Very few would think of the “Battle Royale” game PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. However, that is precisely why such encounters are particularly funny when they happen.
During a match, the player StoneMountain64 was assigned to a group and immediately fell into his role as squad leader (which he gave himself). With military commands, he directed his teammates around, who were initially not very enthusiastic. The longer the match goes on, the more they get into the game.

Portals like Twitch or YouTube Gaming offer a wide selection of live channels where you can watch other people play. Meanwhile, you can interact with the streamer and other audience members through chat. Whether it’s a small family Minecraft stream with 20 viewers providing room for conversation, or a “League of Legends” stream where 20,000 viewers fill the chat with memes – there’s plenty of variety.
But don’t worry, not only mainstream games are covered on the platforms. You can also find games with smaller communities there. So if you’re on a nostalgia trip and want to see the first part of BioShock, you can find a suitable stream online.
Major championships of eSports titles like League of Legends or CS:GO are also broadcast live on streaming platforms and on average have several hundred thousand viewers. The MMO shooter Destiny 2 will not get a proper beta but a kind of marketing demo. Bungie apparently plans to rely on the banana principle. What is behind it?
It is already a silly situation: Games like Destiny 2 have so much that can go wrong – but they are hardly tested.
Destiny 2 is made up of countless parts, interlocking gameplay systems, and landscapes. It is clear: The more complicated a system, the greater the chance that something can go wrong.
Therefore: When Destiny 2 is released, it will be buggy. There is no doubt about that.
The loot cave: Throw fire in and you get loot. No video guide is needed for that.
Bugs and errors marked the launch of Destiny 1
The first part had plenty of problems and errors:
Gameplay systems just didn’t work – the loot system was so bad that players shot at mobs coming out of a cave for hours.
In the strikes there were “safe spots” from which players could safely kill bosses without them shooting back. A term for these “exploits” became widespread: cheese spots.
Even raid bosses or certain raid sections could be easily defeated with tricks. A common insider joke among players is that no one remembers how to do the bridge or templar “properly”, they always skipped past them.
Some weapons were way too strong. When the first player got their hands on the Vex Mythoclast, they ran around with it like they were a Greek god.

And it’s not like this is a specific problem of Destiny. The Division had even more difficulties.
A “backpack bug” locked players out of The Division for weeks.
The fundamental progression system was so weak that it had to be completely overhauled after half a year – a huge effort.
Extended closed beta phases years before release
For games that reach such a scale, problems are simply inevitable. Internal tests from QA teams can be as thorough and good as possible – again and again, history has proven: Internal QA tests are simply not enough. Players find ways to uncover and exploit errors in the system that the publisher and its employees have not thought of.
The conventional solution would be to hold extensive beta phases. Players would be allowed into the game as early as possible in development. They test it, give feedback to the developers – and they adapt their game.
This is Lost Ark – many are waiting for it. It is being developed using the “beta phases” model.
In South Korea, games are developed this way: Long before release, 2 or 3 years before the launch, the gates open for two-week beta phases – the developers then evaluate the feedback, close the gates, and continue development.
However: In South Korea, there is no “proper launch” for these games later on. They are all free-to-play games that transition into an open beta. A “hype” for the release is not nearly as important as for Destiny 2.
Banana principle
In the West, it works differently: There are no beta phases during the development of blockbuster games. They mainly rely on internal tests by QA teams.
The manufacturers’ policy seems to be to rely on the banana principle: The product ripens with the customer.
The fact that these ultra-expensive and complex games completely forgo betas through players and struggle with countless problems after the release is something most players do not understand.
By name, there are still betas, but these are actually just demos that are released shortly before launch to get players excited about the game. It is assumed: In Destiny 2, players will be served a fraction of the game that has been polished to a high shine. How the players’ feedback turns out will ultimately have no influence on the release version.
In Ghost Recon Wildlands, fans cried out after experiencing such a demo beta: For heaven’s sake, take your time, polish the game further. But by then, it was already too late. The wheels were already turning: What happens in a beta hardly changes the product.
Advantages and disadvantages of the banana principle in Destiny 2
If we look at this banana principle, it has benefits and drawbacks for a game.
Advantage:
The game is “fresh” at release, people do not know it yet
The game will have a strong hype and sell well
there will probably only be positive news in advance – the only source of information is the developer itself: PR news dominates the weeks before release, the developer controls reporting when there are no betas
Disadvantage:
Players will likely encounter errors early on and the quality of the gaming experience will drop – after the release
Outside the “polished zone” is uncharted territory – gameplay systems that gain importance only in the long term – may work or go totally wrong
Negative news may come right after the release that could dampen sales – after the release the developer has no more control over the news
developers will have to invest a lot of time in fixing errors under the pressure of a live game – in the time when “new content” should actually come, errors will be patched
Developers are increasingly realizing the disadvantages of the “banana principle”. Especially “The Division” should serve as a cautionary tale.
However: The obvious alternative has not proven to be really “great”: Let everyone into the beta.
Inviting to open beta phases diminishes the appeal of the new, players get tired of games before release. The actual launch is then just a footnote because everyone has already seen it. You can’t blame publishers for avoiding this scenario.
Betas with strictly regulated access are probably the solution
The advantage: This heightened the desire for Overwatch even more. The longing grew to finally play Overwatch. Because the access was so regulated over months, Overwatch could be polished “under the eyes of the players” and the longing remained.
But sure: In “Overwatch” there were no spoiler problems. The game has no story campaign.
Better buggy or better know everything in advance?
If there were a such beta in Destiny 2, even if it was strictly regulated: Leaks would not be far away. Quickly, the feeling would spread: “I already know how it ends.”
Despite watermarks on screenshots and NDA – for a million-dollar project like Destiny 2, the content of the beta would probably be known to everyone quickly. A nightmare for Bungie: The hype would be at risk.

In The Division, you can view and download a detailed map of the Dark Zone here. It contains all boss locations and loot crate locations.
The Dark Zone is considered the most dangerous place in The Division, where you must be wary not only of enemy factions but also of other agents who can betray you. In the Dark Zone, there is optional PvP – you can attack, eliminate other agents, and steal their loot.
The Dark Zone was expanded a few months ago with update 1.6 to include three areas in the north. It is now almost twice as large as before, meaning there is more to explore and more loot to collect.
So that you don’t blindly stumble through the Dark Zone while searching for enemies and crates, the Italian website “thedivisiondarkzone” has created a detailed map that shows you all locations and the locations of all items available in the DZ.
