Bungie launched a relief effort for Houston. In exchange for donations, you will receive a pin and an exclusive emblem in Destiny 2.

In recent days, Hurricane Harvey dominated the media – a natural disaster. The hurricane devastated the city of Houston and its surroundings, leaving thousands of people without homes. Dozens lost their lives. The emotional and material damage is enormous. Countless people are now in need of help.

The Destiny developers at Bungie now want to use their reach to mobilize the Guardian community to donate a few dollars for Houston. Bungie emphasizes the generosity of their wonderful community, which they have demonstrated multiple times in the past, and now invite you to help again.

Through the Bungie Foundation, they are working with Direct Relief. This non-profit organization is already on-site, assisting those in need and providing first aid.

The Collector’s Edition of Destiny 2 includes a mysterious booklet that seems to be an invitation – but for what?

Attention: Spoilers ahead. The booklet describes the background of the Cabal. We do not know how relevant it will be to the game. But it is knowledge that Bungie provides to the buyers of the Collector’s Edition – so you can know this even before starting Destiny 2.

The first physical copies of Destiny 2 are reaching players. Those who pre-ordered an edition other than the Standard Edition can look forward to exciting goodies. Owners of the Collector’s Edition will even find a mysterious invitation in their box.

A mysterious invitation from Emperor Calus

The “Destiny 2 Collector’s Edition” includes a book about the Cabal, an “open invitation” from Emperor Calus, calling all who deem themselves “worthy.” Worthy to defeat Calus’ friends and family who have shamefully betrayed him and stolen his empire. Now Calus lives in exile – in a great Leviathan.

According to the booklet, Calus was a powerful and benevolent emperor who always cared about the welfare of his subjects. He cleansed his empire of the scum of thieves and bandits. A few subordinates betrayed him and took control of the army. Calus was exiled, and since then the new emperor has ruled with an iron fist. And you can guess who this new emperor is: Ghaul!

Now Calus needs your help to eliminate the traitors one by one. After all, he offers a proper “compensation” for your efforts – a lot of loot is guaranteed. Below, Calus reports on the enemies that await you and discusses potential weaknesses – which we will not reveal here. Those interested can follow the source at the end of the text.

More than half a dozen traitors

The first enemy is supposed to be Calus’ former bodyguard – Lictor Shayotet – the protector of the emperor. Calus describes him as loyal, as someone who stands by you through thick and thin. And yet Shayotet did not stop leading the traitors directly to Calus.

After the bodyguard, the Guardians are to deal with the scientist, Freeborn Otzot. She is a Cabal psion, who was once an enemy of Calus, who became partners after an attack on a moon base run by Otzot was thwarted by Calus. At least, until she betrayed him.

Next up is the Master of Ceremonies on Calus’ hit list. Aedile Moli Imoli organized parties, games, tournaments, or whatever else the Cabal enjoy in their leisure time. The exact background of his betrayal is unclear – it is only known that Moli was once known as a brutal soldier. Whether this past has anything to do with the betrayal is uncertain.

A general must also pay according to Calus, Umun’Arath, Primus of all legions is her name and title. Once, Calus freed a scattered group around Umun and appointed her as the leader of this group to show her that war is a means of preserving peace and happiness.

But Umun was only interested in war and not in the reasons for conducting one. After the betrayal, she collected taxes from Cabals and spread fear and terror.

Calus’ blacklist is not yet complete. His confidant, Iska’al of Fantor, must also die. He was once a merchant in the Cabal city of Torobatl. Calus regularly held parades during his reign to remind the people that he was not fearful, but full of strength.

After each parade, he visited Iska and entrusted him with secrets that no one else knew. Iska betrayed Calus by continuing to sell to the traitors as a merchant. Calus feels as if Iska has simply forgotten him.

To complete the family drama, Calus’ daughter must also pay – Caiatl, the imperial princess. Those who have always wanted to know what a Cabal princess looks like, the following image shows a depiction of her, but do not expect Princess Peach.

Calus only wanted the best for his daughter. However, after the betrayal, it turns out that she had more affection for Umun, the general. She loved war games and liked to run around in battle armor. She became a great space pilot. She was the one who destroyed the device with which Calus could have called for help to prevent the betrayal.

The Consul – and Dominus Ghaul as a puppet

The Consul is described by Calus as weak, weak but intriguer. Calus recognized the true form of the Consul and ousted him. Since then, he has been feeding a frail child with his hatred and rage, while it was at its most susceptible. This child was none other than Ghaul. Ghaul was also the one who eventually took the empire from Calus – when he overthrew him.

Project Lead Marc Noseworthy once mentioned that the Consul is like a coach on the sidelines, who gives Ghaul the instructions. He is the type who pulls the strings in the background. The new information confirms this.

The role of Calus himself is intriguing. When considering the history and mentality of the Cabal, it is hard to believe that Calus will simply let us go after we have done what he tasked us with.

Are all these pieces of information relevant to the story of Destiny 2? To the raid? Or just a few anecdotes, written by a confused old Cabal who has taken his shield to the head too often? The future will tell.

Fans have a request for Destiny 2 and are trying to convince Bungie to fulfill this wish. Just think about how much more you would earn!

The thread “Bungie, please! You are sitting on a gold mine” on the Reddit forum has received almost 10,000 upvotes.

Fans want Cross-Save if they can’t get Cross-Play

Basically, fans would prefer “Cross-Play,” allowing all players to play with and against each other, whether on PS4, Xbox One or PC. However, they have come to terms with the fact that this will not happen. Sony is blocking the feature.

But Cross-Save should be possible, say the fans. That way, one could play alone on PC and enjoy the better graphics. However, they could still raid with friends on PS4 using the same account.

Guardians would buy Destiny 2 twice

The best of both worlds: the community and friends from PS4 and Xbox One – with the graphical power of a PC. Those who want that today have to buy two games and two accounts. They then have a different Guardian on PC and on PS4 or Xbox One.

With Cross-Save, they would still have to buy two games, but they could use the same Guardian in both universes.

Their suggestion: Bungie, give us Cross-Save and make a fortune by having us buy the game twice.

Sony as the blocker

Another advantage would be that players can already start with the console version and later switch to PC.

PC players face a long phase in which they cannot play Destiny 2, while console players can and will spoil Destiny 2 heavily.

The fans receive support from the US site Polygon. They express the same wish: Destiny 2 needs Cross-Save.

But Polygon sees Sony as a hurdle. Because there are “exclusive items for PS4 in Destiny 2” – which would stand in the way of a Cross-Save. Furthermore, Sony presumably opposes Cross-Save for the same reason they are against Cross-Play.

Destiny 1 was legendary under-explained. What does it look like in Destiny 2?

Mark Noseworthy is Canadian, a comic fan, and the executive producer of Destiny 2. Has he ever dreamed of giving an interview to the rock magazine Rolling Stone? Either way, he did it as part of a promotional tour. Bungie wants to present Destiny 2 in a big way, and this includes talking to “non-gaming” magazines.

Noseworthy explains: His job at Bungie is to implement the creative director Luke Smith’s vision.

Every day he asks himself questions like

• Okay, this is our vision: How do we really get this into the game?
• How do we incorporate these ideas?
• How do we keep the team implementing the ideas happy and motivated?

For the time after the release of Destiny 2, Noseworthy has already requested vacation. He wants to grab his family, go on a trip, and play a lot of Destiny 2. Because it’s just fun: “We’ve created a game that we want to play ourselves.”

Noseworthy continues to explain that they want to pay more attention to the story in Destiny 2.

The leak is primarily based on a special issue published by Gamestop, which was photographed before the game’s launch. Thus, all exotic items are known, and for many, even the perks.

The Exotic Weapons of Destiny 2

The exotic weapons in Destiny 2 are mainly new entrants. However, some returning favorites from Destiny 1 will also be seen. Those hoping for a radiant comeback of the Gjallarhorn will be disappointed. However, a strong representative from Destiny 1 is included. We have translated the English terms freely. Exotic Kinetic Weapons in Destiny 2

The following kinetic weapons will carry the exotic quality:

• MIDA Multi-Tool
• Storm
• Rat King
• Sweet Business (Workhorse)
• Vigilance Wing

The MIDA Multi-Tool is a familiar name, regarded as the best scout rifle in Destiny 1. Whether the weapon can reclaim its glorious past in Destiny 2 remains to be seen.

The Workhorse was already tested during the beta phase. Hints about the Rat King appeared in the form of images even before the leak; the weapon is a pistol.

Exotic Energy Weapons in Destiny 2

The exotic representatives in the energy slot are as follows:

• Sunbracers (Gloves): No details – in Destiny 1, the Sunbracers granted a second Solar grenade with longer duration. A renaming to avoid confusion with the Titan subclass.

The Exotic Armors of the Hunters in Destiny 2

• Celestial Night Hawk (Helmet): Golden Gun grants only one shot but deals massive damage. Targets killed by the golden gun explode
• Foetracer (Helmet): Marks targeted enemies
• Weakpoint Radar (Helmet): No information. In Destiny 1, this helmet kept your radar active while aiming with primary weapons (kinetic weapons)
• Mechanic’s Tricksleeves (Gloves): No details
• Ahamkara’s Spine (Gloves): No details. In Destiny 1, these gloves granted gunslingers an extra light sensor mine that remained active longer
• The Dragon’s Shadow (Chest): Grants a speed boost and increases weapon handling speed after a dodge maneuver
• Lucky Raspberry (Chest): Enhances the chaining abilities of the Arcbolt grenade and grants a chance to reduce the cooldown on every target hit
• Raiden Flux (Chest): Rapid hits with the Arc staff increase damage and extend the duration of Super
• Lucky Pants (Boots): Increases the speed at which hand cannons are readied as well as initial precision
• Orpheus Rig (Boots): Grants class ability energy for the enemy hit by the Shadowshot
• STOMP-EE5 (Boots): Increases sprint speed and slide distance. Enhances jump ability

The armors show a colorful mix of new and “old” exotic armors, some of which have also been reworked. Unfortunately, the perk descriptions do not allow any conclusions about how long the effects will actually last or how big the bonuses will be. This will likely have to be figured out by clever players only after launch.

For this reason, it is currently not possible to say whether certain equipment items are overpowered or not.
