Since last night (31.08.2017), the 6th season of ranked play in Blizzard’s hero shooter Overwatch has started. As usual, there are again 10 placement matches on the schedule, so the game can determine the skill rating and then assign players to their correct rank.
But unlike previous seasons, a few things have changed. We list all relevant changes of Overwatch Season 6 for you:
The season lasts only 2 months instead of 3 months. The shorter time is meant to create more excitement without putting too much pressure on players.
The reduction of the season’s duration results in fewer competitive points at the end of the season.
The competitive points within matches are increasing. A victory brings 15 points (previously 10), a draw 5 points (previously 3).
Control maps are now decided in a “Best of 3” format (previously “Best of 5”)
Skill rating decays slower when inactive. Players in Diamond or higher must complete 7 matches per week or lose 25 skill rating per day (previously 50).
Overwatch Season 6: Rank loss at all ranks
Furthermore, players can now lose their rank at all levels when they lose skill rating (for example, dropping from Gold to Silver). The competitive points received at the end of the season depend on the highest rank achieved.

Total War Arena, Wargaming’s mix of World of Tanks and Total War: Rome, starts today, September 1st, in closed beta. Anyone with beta access can then engage in complex real-time battles with Romans, Barbarians, and Greeks.
Under the aegis of Wargaming, Total War Arena was created as a free-to-play online game where you play three units from each of the playable factions: Romans, Greeks, and Barbarians. Together with 9 other players and their troops, you must defeat the opposing team in a large real-time battle.
As in World of Tanks, the available units are divided into tiers. At the bottom, there are weak militias; higher up are the coveted elite troops. Through experience points gained in the game, you can upgrade your troops and unlock higher tiers. In total, there are supposed to be over 140 units in the game.
Total War Arena – Closed Beta for Registered Players
On September 1st, 2017 at 3:00 PM, the closed beta of Total War Arena begins. Those who registered for the beta and have received a code can start playing immediately and join a large army to annihilate their enemies.

A few weeks ago, it was already pointed out on Reddit that no fast-food restaurant in Australia would be called “Take Out”. While that is grammatically correct, it simply does not occur in Australia. There, it is called “Take Away” and is prominently displayed at most snack bars and eateries.
At that time, Jeff Kaplan, albeit with a clear wink, “apologized to Australia as a whole” and announced that they would adjust the sign in the future and eliminate this “cultural insensitivity”.
In the latest version of the PTR, the error has been corrected, and the sign now corresponds to the common terms used in Australia.
However, when the coffee cups will be adjusted, which should actually be much smaller in Australia, remains to be seen – but parts of the community are also waiting for that.

In Pokémon GO, the exclusive raids featuring Mewtwo as a raid boss will be coming soon. These raid battles are only for trainers who receive an invitation. The first invitations will be sent out soon to a test group.
The exclusive raid battles in Pokémon GO are designed for trainers who regularly participate in raids. They are intended to be a reward for the raid trainers.
Exclusive raids work similarly to the normal ones. A raid boss appears in a gym, and you defeat it together with other trainers. The only difference between exclusive raids and normal raids: trainers need an invitation for the exclusive raids.
To receive such an invitation, you must have participated in a raid battle “recently.” When the exclusive raid boss appears in that gym, you can participate in the raid with the invitation.

Niantic has renamed the exclusive raids to EX-Raid battles. They are currently in a practical test. Niantic has already collected early feedback.
Now the developers want even more feedback on the EX-Raids and involve the community. During this test phase, Niantic will continuously adjust the EX-Raids. The developers particularly want to focus on the following factors:

Brrr, summer has quickly faded away this weekend, leaving behind damp, nasty weather with rain – at least here in the south of Germany. But well, if you can’t grill or chill at the lake, you can enjoy playing online games without a guilty conscience.
Games of the Weekend – Hunting Monsters or Humans?
If you enjoy going on the hunt, you can look forward to two cool games this weekend. First, there is the monster-hunting game Dauntless available today, September 1st, in closed beta. In Dauntless, you can hunt various bizarre monsters with your team of four, such as the giant fish beaver or the fearsome owl bear.
On the other hand, if you prefer taking down human prey, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is the place for you. This battle royale shooter is currently more successful and in-demand than ever, with tens of thousands of enthusiastic players. Even the problem with AFK farmers is said to be less severe than assumed.

Massive announced a special event over the weekend. This event is not a Global Event, but a “regular” event with double rewards. There have been similar events in the past.
This special event
started today, September 1st, at 2 AM
and ends on September 5th at 9 AM.
The special aspect of the event: If youdefeat named bosses, you will receive additional rewards. Both the tough bosses in the open world and in the Dark Zone drop extra rewards.
Extra rewards, but no secret gear sets
“This is an excellent event,” one might think.
Since the end of the first Global Event, you can only obtain the new “Classified Gear” through random drops, specifically the secret gear sets. And your best chance for that is with named bosses. These can drop Classified Gear with a 3% chance.
However, here comes the downside: The special event does not increase this 3% chance. Massive stated that no Classified Gear is included in the extra rewards pool. In other words, you will receive more loot from this event, but no more secret sets.
In the community, an event like this is met with confusion. After all, most agents are currently seeking this Classified Gear, and since the drop chances are extremely low, the special event could have been a meaningful occurrence to bring back motivation.
Special events that increase the chance for secret gear sets could make the time between Global Events more interesting. Many agents cannot understand why Massive does not implement this.
