In Bungie’s last livestream about the first Destiny 2 expansion Curse of Osiris, new endgame activities such as the weapon forge were introduced. The streamer Gothalion had something entirely different in mind, and he loses it on camera. That was too much for him.

In the latest livestream about the first expansion of Destiny 2, the focus was on new ways to play and earn loot. The new planet Mercury offers its own patrol zone and the largest public event ever in Destiny.

However, there were also news about the Vex weapons that Guardians can earn. For this, materials must be collected and specific activities completed to receive one of the eleven weapons.

The weapons can be “forged”, but the perks are, as is usual in Destiny 2, predetermined – this did not sit well with one of the most famous Destiny streamers. Gothalion had something different in mind under the term “forging”.

Streamer loses it on camera

Many players wished that with the Vex weapons, the opportunity to actually forge weapons would be created. This would significantly enhance the endgame, especially if each forging process resulted in a weapon with different perks.

Specifically, the Vex technology would allow for many play styles. It is no coincidence that we are on Mercury in the Infinite Forest – and it is something different each time we go through. Because the Vex simulate every reality, their technology plays through all versions.

Why was this idea not adopted for the weapons? The Vex are known for shaping and changing things, adapting and transforming them. However, this adaptability does not reflect in the Vex weapons.

For the streamer Gothalion, this system represents a series of missed opportunities to make the endgame more exciting and sustainable. He therefore expressed his frustration loudly during the Bungie livestream, as can be seen and heard in the following video:

In the nearly unanimous video, Gothalion expresses his frustration that Bungie is not expanding the gameplay mechanics, even though it is clear how the community can be kept engaged.

A user on reddit soberly states: In essence, the weapon forge is just a new term for decrypting an engram. There is no influence on what comes out during the forging process.

In Destiny 2, Curse of Osiris brings back the Lighthouse. In this, you can pursue secrets.

The Lighthouse was a location in Destiny 1 that many Guardians could never visit themselves. The reason: It was only accessible through the PvP event “Trials of Osiris.” You had to fill out a “flawless ticket,” which granted you access to the Lighthouse and the chest with delicious loot. A challenge that many Guardians failed.

In Destiny 2, everyone – who purchases the 1st DLC Curse of Osiris – can access the Lighthouse. This will be a new social space with Brother Vance as the quest giver. Compared to the Lighthouse from Destiny 1, there will be some changes here, also in terms of visuals.

Pursue secrets in the Lighthouse

The Lighthouse not only holds Brother Vance and a weapon forge, but also contains secrets. This was revealed by community manager DeeJ last week in the first livestream for Curse of Osiris. In this social space, one can pursue secrets.

Yesterday, on November 21st, Lighthouse secrets were teased again in the second livestream. There will be a riddle that has to be pieced together in the Lighthouse, which is solved within the Lighthouse.

What this riddle is about has not been revealed. But the YouTuber Unknown Player has apparently already discovered the reward for a secret in the Lighthouse:

He was one of the handful of YouTubers invited by Bungie to Seattle to record gameplay of Curse of Osiris. While the others played through the story missions, strikes, and open-world activities as planned, Unknown Player took the time to take a close look at the Lighthouse.

In the process, he found this locked chest. It is located roughly beneath Brother Vance’s position and is shielded by a barrier. He tried a few things to open the barrier, but during his playtime, he couldn’t get to the “secret chest.” Here you can see it in the video, the location is marked from 1:11:

This chest bears the same symbol as the “normal” planetary chests found in other worlds. Therefore, the chest may contain nothing more than a few Mercury tokens. However, the fact that it is locked behind a barrier suggests that there could be something “special” inside.

Perhaps the chest is

• the reward for the “riddle” that the developers talked about,
• or the reward for completing all 11 Osiris Vex weapons,
• or something completely different.

Many Guardians hope that there will be an Exotic as a reward, if they can complete the 11 Vex weapons – as a “big goal” at the end. Perhaps this Exotic is in that chest.

In Destiny 2: Forsaken of Osiris, you can forge your own Vex weapons. For this, a weapon forge is introduced as an “endgame activity”.

When Osiris was banished and sent into exile, he smuggled out a few weapons from the Last City. Over time, these were refined and equipped with Vex technologies, says Art Director Dave Matthews. Now a few white cables adorn the weapons, through which Vex milk presumably flows.

These Osiris Vex weapons can be earned in the “Forsaken of Osiris” expansion. However, they do not drop randomly from enemies or are included in engrams – instead, you must forge them.

How to forge in Forsaken of Osiris

For these Vex weapons, a weapon forge is available to you, located in the Lighthouse. The forge looks like a kind of altar: behind the altar on the wall is the Osiris symbol, surrounded by several circles:

Each of these circles represents a new Osiris Vex weapon. A total of 11 weapons can be forged, with the glyphs on the wall indicating your progress and which weapons you have already crafted.

To obtain an Osiris weapon, you must complete several steps:

• First, the story campaign of Forsaken of Osiris must be completed. Until then, you cannot use the forge.
• Next, you can go to Brother Vance. He offers you various “Lost Prophecies”, or lost prophecies:

  

• There will be a total of 11 of these prophecies, each corresponding to an Osiris Vex weapon.
• The prophecies consist of several verses that want to be decrypted. For this, you may collect various items. By inspecting the prophecy, you will be specifically told in which activities you can collect the required items.

An example: For the Osiris hand cannon, you need “Concentrated Radiolarian Culture” and “Advanced Paradox Amplifier”.

• Concentrated Radiolarian Culture can be obtained exclusively through public events.
• Advanced Paradox Amplifier is a rare item that can be obtained by completing strikes, crucible matches, and heroic adventures.

  

These items then go into your inventory. Once you have collected enough, you can use them to fulfill the prophecy.

Now go back to Brother Vance, who will give you another item. You take this to the forge and craft your weapon from it. The weapons will then look like this:

Every week, Brother Vance brings three prophecies. So you cannot forge all weapons at once.

Some questions about this forge remain unanswered:

• If I dismantle my Vex weapon – can I forge it again or do I have to fulfill the prophecy again?
• And what happens if all the circles are activated?

By the way: Brother Vance is not only your guy for prophecies in the endgame, but also for heroic adventures. These are meant to make the adventures significantly harder and more lucrative. Vance has 6 adventures available in this screenshot, with three being blue and three being purple. The purple adventures are presumably the heroic ones.
