Shortly before the release of the Forsaken expansion for Destiny 2, Bungie unveils another surprise. After years of demands and numerous fan projects, the studio is now releasing an official compendium of knowledge about the Destiny universe. The Grimoire cards from the first Destiny are coming in book format in Autumn 2018.
Surprise before Forsaken: After Bungie recently fulfilled a major wish for many fans by unexpectedly releasing the popular original Destiny soundtrack Music of the Spheres in an official edition , there is another big surprise just before the Forsaken release.
As Bungie announced now, the extensive background knowledge about the Destiny universe will finally be published in an official print version this coming autumn – in the form of the multi-part Destiny Grimoire Anthology.
The Background Story of Destiny – Much Wasted Potential
The first Destiny installment was criticized at the time for its implementation and presentation of the story. Missions without clearly recognizable goals and without any connection left fans with long faces as early as 2014.
A common thread was often sought in Destiny 1 in vain.
Those who wanted to dive deeper into the story and lore of the Destiny universe had to engage with the Grimoire cards.
What are the Grimoire Cards? They are collectibles. They illuminate the story of the Destiny universe in more detail.
At the same time, the cards served as a success system: Players unlocked them in various ways in the game – for example, by killing enemies, reviving dead ghosts, or participating in certain activities.
The Problem with Grimoire Cards: The content of these cards, which mostly consisted of detailed lore texts, could however only be viewed through Bungie’s website or via the companion app.
While they provided interested fans with profound background knowledge and helped to close certain story gaps and eliminate some logical errors, they lacked accessibility and integration in the game itself. Thus, the cards proved to be no really elegant solution to bring the undoubtedly exciting and engaging lore of Destiny closer to the wider audience.
Since then, there has been a constant call for a concise compendium – preferably in print form. This wish is now finally set to be fulfilled after nearly 4 years and numerous unofficial fan projects.
The Destiny Grimoire Anthology – Consolidated Destiny Knowledge in Book Form
Grimoire in Book Format: All fans interested in the exciting story and events surrounding the Destiny universe will soon have the opportunity to look up this knowledge in a corresponding work.
The first book of the Destiny Grimoire Anthology, Volume 1: Dark Mirror, will be released this coming autumn. On 128 pages of the hardcover edition, the stories from numerous sources will finally be interconnected.
What’s Inside: According to Bungie’s description, the anthology shines a new light on many legendary Destiny heroes and feared villains along with their greatest triumphs and tragedies.
Each book of this anthology is expected to deal with different facets of the Destiny world and highlight the conflict between the Traveler and its ancient enemies from various perspectives.
Destiny Grimoire Anthology Vol. 1: Dark Mirror will initially be released in English this autumn. Further language editions will follow. A rare card from Magic: The Gathering was sold this week for over $87,000 on eBay. That’s about €74,500. What makes the card so special?
How much was paid exactly? This week, a total of $87,672 was paid for a card from the original release of Magic The Gathering on eBay.
What kind of card is it? The card is “The Black Lotus” from the Alpha version. As the US site Kotaku knows, the card was produced in 3 editions of Magic and all were released in 1993:
In Alpha, there were 295 cards with black borders
In Beta, some errors were corrected and 7 cards were added
And Unlimited was basically the Beta for the mass market, here the border became white.
25-year-old card – almost perfectly preserved
What makes this card so valuable? This card was from the Alpha of Magic from 1993. Only 1,100 of this card were produced.
Moreover, despite its 25 years, the card is almost perfectly preserved. A service that grades cards rated it 9.5 (out of 10). This makes it one of the best-preserved “Black Lotus” cards in the world. A card like this is extremely rarely offered.
Additionally, “Black Lotus” might be one of the most well-known Magic cards in history.
What does Black Lotus actually do? In Magic, you have to play land to obtain resources, the mana. With the mana, you can then play other cards. However, a player can only play one land per turn. This severely limits how much mana can be spent in each turn.
The trick with “Black Lotus” is that the card provides three mana without consuming any mana itself. This allowed players to have over four mana available in the first turn, granting a significant advantage just because they had this card.
The Black Lotus early on shattered the balance of Magic.
That’s why “the Black Lotus” was never printed again after 1993 and built a legendary reputation that was now worth a collector so much money that one could have afforded a luxury limousine with it.

Why the contract? The contract was set up by the concerned guild leader to regulate the distribution of the mount “Shackled Ur’zul,” which only drops in Mythic mode. Previously, there was already a list in the raid with an order of players who were to receive the mount on the next kill.
To ensure this, the guild leader requires agreement to his contract. Players who receive the mount are contractually obliged to pass it on to the player next on the list.

€349 fine threatened
Severe penalties: As a sign that he is serious, the guild leader has included harsh penalties in the contract. He checked the value of the mount on a third-party site – anyone who does not comply with the contract will have to pay a fine of €349.

A new patch for Dead by Daylight has Killer players cheering. Trapper and Hag have been buffed and are now real threats.
The balance in the asymmetric game Dead by Daylight has been a major issue for a long time. Constantly new perks and mechanics for Killers and Survivors have led to some Killers having little chance to catch Survivors.
Especially the first Killer and the figurehead of Dead by Daylight, the Trapper, was too weak for a long time. Patch 2.1.0 has now massively strengthened Trapper and Hag!
This is how Dead by Daylight changes the Trapper
Trapper is now a threat. The Trapper was the first Killer of Dead by Daylight. But by now, he was mostly played only by newcomers, as he was too weak. The developers have completely overhauled him and made his traps more powerful. The most important changes include:
Setting traps now takes much less time. The whole animation lasts only 2.5 seconds instead of the previous 5 seconds.
Disarming a trap is now heard by the Trapper across the entire map.
Sabotaged bear traps respawn after 180 seconds. This makes it now impossible to permanently destroy all of the Trapper’s traps.
All addons have been reworked. There are now addons that automatically reactivate bear traps or injure Survivors when disarming a trap.
The Hag loses negative aspects. The Hag was also unpopular, as she is very slow and her teleport traps require a lot of setup time. Additionally, her addons almost always had a drawback. Much of that is now a thing of the past.
The complete drawing of a trap now takes 2.2 seconds instead of more than 4 seconds.
The teleport range of the trap has been increased from 32 to 40 meters.
All negative aspects of her addons have been removed – there are only bonuses now.
No more rank loss at lower ranks in Dead by Daylight
Aura perks for both sides reworked. The developers have fundamentally reworked many perks that display the auras of opponents. This allows Killers to use “Bitter Murmur” to see all Survivors who have just repaired a generator and are nearby for a few seconds. Survivors can do the opposite – Dark Sense allows them to see the Killer for a few seconds when they fully repair a generator.
No more de-ranking below rank 15. For all players who enjoy climbing the ranks, there has also been a change. Problems are still not resolved

What is the problem? Currently, many players report difficulties when trying to level characters from level 1 to max level: The opponents hit too hard. Players have hardly any options to level effectively.

Defeating opponents takes way too long
and the experience that players get for it is too low.
Blizzard has tested internally with different versions of WoW and confirms that this is not how it was intended.
No one knows how this happened: The problems have existed since the pre-patch for the new expansion Battle for Azeroth. With the patch, item levels have been squished, along with the health points and damage of all characters.
No one knows exactly what caused all opponents to become stronger or hardly defeated. Something went wrong, but nobody knows what it was. The problems have gone so far that in the Scarlet Halls, players were simply killed with one hit – leveling was not a consideration.
The best players in Destiny 2 have been struggling for more than a year with the high TTK and a sluggish PvP focused on team shots. Hero moments are rare. How will the PvP change with the major expansion “Forsaken”?
What does TTK mean? The “TTK” is the “Time to kill”, meaning the time it takes to reduce an opponent’s health from full to zero.
How does the TTK affect gameplay? The TTK determines the playstyle of PvP players.
With a low TTK, individual, highly skilled players can turn the tide. If one surprises the opposing team, they can take out many players before they can react. Such situations, where a single player decides the match, are called “hero moments.” Streamers especially rely on providing these to their viewers.
With a high TTK, individual players have little impact. They take too long to eliminate someone. The element of surprise is less valuable. Teamplay becomes more important than quick reflexes and personal skill. This allows beginners to understand why they just died, rather than just noting the number of the truck that just ran them over.
In summary: The TTK determines whether the PvP is fast or slow. The best players prefer the fastest possible PvP, as the “skill ceiling” is higher, indicating the maximum impact an individual player can have on the course of a match.
How was it in Destiny? Destiny 1 had a relatively low TTK.
This led to so-called “hero moments”: A player who performed well could significantly impact and eliminate many enemies.
This created a situation where some top PvP players gained nearly legendary reputations. Their streams were sought after, their names well-known. Every weekend, they met in the “Trials of Osiris” to sweat it out together.
In Destiny 2, the TTK has increased significantly: This means players tend to stay in teams, shooting together at an opponent, with the so-called “team shot” dominating.
Veterans from Destiny 1 reject this PvP and long for earlier times. Already in February, Bungie announced a “Go Fast” update. However, it still proved to be “too slow.”
This is what happened: PvP specialist TrippleWreck explained on reddit that in the new trailer for Breakthrough the TTK has become “significantly faster.”
Assault rifles dealt 21 damage instead of 17 damage on a crit. This would mean a DPS increase of 24% and thus a significant reduction of the TTK from 1.1s to 0.9 seconds.
These 0.2 seconds less on the clock are viewed very positively by TrippleWreck. He puts forth the motto

Bungie Confirms Adjustment – TTK Will Decrease

Basically, in Fortnite, a weapon of higher quality is always better than the same weapon type of lower quality. Genre-typical, the equipment is divided into quality or rarity levels.

Blue – rare

Assault rifles are part of the standard equipment in Fortnite: Battle Royale. If you find an assault rifle, you should definitely take it with you, because assault rifles are excellent weapons at medium distances.
Currently, there are several subcategories among assault rifles. In addition to standard assault rifles, there are the significantly rarer S.C.A.R. assault rifles and the burst rifles, which, as the name suggests, fire bursts of 3 bullets with each trigger pull.

But even with a standard assault rifle, you can easily outperform the other representatives. The thermal assault rifle offers a cool gimmick, but cannot compete with a SCAR.
Sniper rifles are designed for pure long-range combat. With these, you can eliminate careless targets from a great distance. There are three representatives in the weapon category:
The slowly firing bolt-action sniper rifles,
The semi-automatic sniper rifles, and
the hunting rifles

A few weeks ago, the case would have been clear: Leave the semi-automatic sniper rifles alone. The damage has since been increased. When combined with the high rate of fire, the semi-automatic sniper rifle can be used much more effectively.
Bolt-action sniper still strong: The bolt-action sniper kills opponents without shields with a body shot. With a headshot, you can kill any opponent – and that always, regardless of their shield. These things are not possible with the semi-automatic snipers.
The hunting rifle does not have a zoom sight, so you do not need to aim significantly over the opponent’s head at greater distances.
Generally: Every sniper rifle has its pros and cons. Which one you ultimately choose depends on your personal preferences:
Do you want to deal as much damage as possible with one shot and are a very good shooter? Go for the bolt-action sniper or hunting rifle.
Are you an average shooter and prefer to expose the opponent to a hail of bullets? Grab the semi-automatic sniper.
Shotguns in Fortnite: Battle Royale
Shotguns are the weapons of choice when facing your opponent at close range. They inflict tremendous damage at very short distances. Shotguns are also divided into three categories:
The fast-firing tactical shotguns,
The slow-firing pump shotguns, and
The rare heavy shotguns
Unlike in the other weapon classes, it is not possible to determine a “best” weapon among shotguns. However, let’s first take a look at the stats of the shotguns:

Tactical shotguns have a higher rate of fire than pump shotguns, and the magazine size is larger with eight shots. In contrast, pump shotguns deal more damage, and that’s not to be underestimated.
Anyone who combines a pump shotgun with an MP can inflict tremendous damage in a short time. In this way, careless enemies can be eliminated quickly.
There is no one best shotgun. Instead, the choice of weapon depends on the situation:
Enemies who have not noticed you can be quickly eliminated with pump shotguns.
If you find it harder to land critical hits with the pump shotgun, the tactical shotgun makes more sense due to its higher rate of fire.
If you pick up the rare heavy shotgun, make sure to grab it. This combines the strengths of the other two representatives.
Enemies are particularly harder to hit when they have noticed you and are bouncing around like a kangaroo.
Tip: Always combine a pump shotgun with a fast-firing weapon such as a submachine gun. This way, you can deal great damage in a short amount of time.
Especially at the start of a match, you can gain a significant advantage over an opponent who is only carrying a shotgun.
Which shotgun is now the best? Use a pump shotgun in combination with a submachine gun when looting in houses at the start of a match. If you find a heavy shotgun, make sure to grab it! This combines the good fire rate of the shotgun with the damage of the pump shotgun.
Submachine guns are among the top weapons in the game. Both the standard submachine gun and the drum gun are fantastic weapons that can dismantle any opponent in no time.
In fact, SMGs have broken the dominance of shotguns and are now considered the preferred choice for close combat.
But that’s not all. Submachine guns are also great for quickly tearing down enemy fortifications. SMGs fall into three categories:
Standard submachine guns,
the drum gun, and
silenced submachine guns
The standard submachine gun includes the P90 submachine gun. A fantastic weapon that is only available in the epic and legendary rarities.

The submachine guns are undoubtedly among the best weapons in the game, dealing tremendous damage in a short time. But even if you haven’t found any of the rare SMGs – the standard submachine gun is very good as well.
The silenced variants are also not to be underestimated, though they are not as devastating as the standard SMGs.
Pistols are among the most commonly found weapons in Fortnite: Battle Royale and can be found almost everywhere. The chance is high that your first weapon after landing is a pistol.

Silenced pistols

The new silenced pistols reveal themselves at first glance as the new stars among pistols. Revolvers and hand cannons fall far behind in damage per second, but deal critical massive damage. You’ll need to pull that off in the heat of battle, however.
Especially on consoles, pistols are not the best choice, but on PC you can quickly take down your opponents with them. Unfortunately, pistols face strong competition at their preferred range. Shotguns and submachine guns generally do the job more efficiently.
Right at the start of a round, however, a silenced pistol can still provide a significant advantage.
Rocket Launchers and Grenade Launchers in Fortnite: Battle Royale
With rocket and grenade launchers, the heavy artillery is rolled out. They are suitable for flushing out enemy fortifications and are especially useful in the endgame.

A blanket statement about whether rocket or grenade launchers are the better choice is not possible. Just like with shotguns, it heavily depends on the situation with which weapon you should play:
With the rocket launcher, you can precisely target individual points (walls) or opponents. The further away you are from the opponent, the harder it becomes to hit, as the rockets travel relatively slowly – opponents can adjust accordingly.
With the grenade launcher, you can effectively dismantle buildings and fortifications. Due to the bouncing of the projectiles, opponents have significantly more difficulty dodging them. However, the unpredictability created makes it harder to aim accurately.
If you want to create confusion in a large area, quickly fire a few grenades in the general direction and enjoy the explosions. Individual targets and opponents can be better dealt with from the right distance using the rocket launcher.
Submachine Guns in Fortnite: Battle Royale
