The latest game mode of Hearthstone is now live. In Dr. Boom’s Puzzle Lab, you can test your skills on challenging puzzles!
Last night (August 21, 2018), the new single-player mode of Hearthstone was unlocked. Two weeks after the original release of Dr. Boom’s Lab, players can now enter the solo adventure. This time, however, it’s not about defeating different bosses, but rather solving challenging puzzles.
Four different puzzle categories: As in other adventures, there are four “wings” this time assigned to different types of puzzles. Each wing includes approximately 25 puzzles, with six to nine played consecutively per round, which are then summarized into a challenge. The puzzles start off very simple but quickly become more difficult.
Can you see the correct move to defeat the opponent this turn?
What puzzles are there? The four categories of puzzles include:
Death Zone: Players must destroy the opposing hero this turn, reducing their health points to 0.
Mirror Image: Your playing field must be an exact copy of the opponent’s field. The same minions must face each other, have the same health points, and possess the same buffs.
Survival: This mode is the opposite of “Death Zone”. Players must ensure that their health points rise back to 30. Only then can they survive the next attack.
Tabula Rasa: In this mode, the field must be completely cleared of minions. By the end of the turn, no minions should be left – neither on your side nor on the opponent’s side.
Anyone who manages to solve all the puzzles will receive a special card back. However, there is no time pressure – everyone can take as much time as they want.
Cortyn says: The puzzles are much more exciting and interesting than I initially assumed. Especially the “Survival” puzzles can get relatively tricky early on, as you have to play Hearthstone from a completely different perspective. I will definitely continue to try for a while and hopefully complete all puzzles without assistance – it would be a waste to ruin this game mode by looking at the solutions.
This week, Fortnite: Battle Royale players can look forward to a new item: The Pocket Rift. It functions like the Rifts already spread across the map and is likely to become a coveted item, as our author Robert believes.
The Rifts teleport you into the air and give you the opportunity to use your glider again. They are extremely popular, as they allow you to
escape at the last moment before the storm,
avoid fights, or
attack from another direction again.
However, these Rifts are likely to disappear again with the end of Season 5, a fate that has already befallen the Jump Pads in Season 4.
The Reddit hint has been confirmed: Epic employee MrPopo and the Fortnite Reddit are currently playing a guessing game for new items and weapons that will be integrated into Fortnite: Battle Royale.
This week, the hint was quite clear: “Be mobile and always carry your escape plan with you”. Much indicated a portable Rift, which has now also been confirmed in-game.
How will the Pocket Rift work? That is still unknown. I assume that the Pocket Rift will be thrown and will open a portal to the sky for a few seconds. This would also give your teammates the chance to jump afterwards.
Since the Pocket Rift is likely to become a very valuable item, it will probably be rarely found. In what stacks and rarities it will be available is not yet known.
When will the Pocket Rift come? Very likely, the Pocket Rift will find its way to Fortnite: Battle Royale on Thursday, August 23, alongside Update 5.30!
Here’s what you can do with the Pocket Rift in Fortnite: Battle Royale!
As already described, you can escape the storm with a mobile Pocket Rift and thus have more time to collect loot. However, the Pocket Rift will also serve you well in fights if you use it wisely.
Pocket Rift as an escape option or attack variant: Have you found yourself caught in the crossfire and have to face multiple opponents? Use the Pocket Rift to rise into the air and sail away comfortably.
Alternatively, you can surprise enemies in a fort by simply landing on their roof. Are you in a fort and under fire? Edit your stairs and move down in your fort. Throw (hidden from the opponent) the Pocket Rift and teleport yourself into the air to launch a surprise attack.
If the Pocket Rift becomes a throwable item, it might also be used to catapult your opponent into the air. This gives you the time to reorganize or even jump after them.
The first secret of World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth has been solved. We will tell you how to obtain this creepy pet – a goat from hell.
Actually, the community of “Secret Finding” servers thought they were on the trail of a puzzle in Battle for Azeroth that leads to a new mount. But they were mistaken. After days of searching, the first riddle was decrypted, rewarded with the secret pet Baa’l. We will guide you step by step on how to obtain this spooky pet.
The following steps must be completed in the correct order listed here.
A large part of the images used comes from wowhead (see sources).
Step 1: Nazmir
The journey begins in Nazmir at the great temple in the center. At the top of the citadel lies the first clue. You need to go up to the citadel (over the bridge) and then all the way to the edge at coordinates 51 / 59. Here lies the little note that you must click on. But beware! It’s easy to slip and fall down.
Step 2: Broken Shore
Travel to Orc Drak’thul at the Broken Shore on the Broken Isles (Old content from Legion). At coordinates 37 / 71, there is a stone table. On it lie several small stones. One of them is lighter than the others. Click the stone to complete this step. Sometimes the Orc blocks the table, so you may have to wait.
Step 3: Boralus
Next, you must go to the Alliance city Boralus. At coordinates 49 / 40, behind some nets (which you can simply run through) is the entrance to a secret cave. At the end of the cave lies another stone that you must click on.
Step 4: Atal’Dazar
The next step leads to Atal’dazar in Zuldazar. You must enter the non-instanced version (meaning NOT the dungeon). Ride around the portal on the right and head to the spot shown in this video and click the stone.

The next stone is in Drustvar behind a waterfall in Gol Osgir. Climb up the mountain from Arom’s Watch until you reach the waterfall at coordinates 36 / 53. Jump down one level from there. You will find a hidden cave, and the stone is in the “eye” of a statue located there. Click it again.
Step 6: Vol’dun
Next, head to Vol’dun. Fly to the Tortaka Refuge and jump down. Look for the tree at coordinates 63 / 21. At the tree, you can find a hidden cave. But be careful! In the cave is an extremely strong opponent that can kill you in one hit if you get too close. You need to stun him or simply dodge. The next stone is hidden between the rocks and you must click it again.
Step 7: Stormsong Valley
The next stone is in Stormsong Valley, on an island near the Shrine of the Storms. At coordinates 65 / 11, you will find the entrance to a cave, hidden under the bushes of some trees. Inside the cave, you can find a small lake with a cart parked. On the cart’s loading area is the next stone that you must click.
Step 8: The Open Sea
The next step is difficult and requires preparation. Grab the artifact fishing rod or potions that increase your swimming speed. You need to swim north from Nazmir and leave the area until deep into the exhaustion zone. At the coordinates 54 /7 on the general maps of Zandalar, you will find a sunken ship. The stone lies on a mosaic glass panel depicting a skull. Click the stone.
Step 9: Boralus
For the next step, you must again go to Boralus, in the hedge maze of the Proudmoore. At coordinates 37 / 80, you will find access hidden under some bushes (where the recruits are playing Pen&Paper). Behind some barrels lies the stone.
Step 10: Drustvar
Then continue to Drustvar. Find the lighthouse at Westwatch and climb the island. At coordinates 17 / 6 is a cave that is hard to reach, for which you need to jump very precisely. The stone is not in the cave but right in front of it – hidden between some bushes.
Step 11: Tiragard Sound
Next, go to Tiragard Sound at coordinates 75 / 70 where there is again a hidden cave. But beware! The cave is filled with invisible enemies that can kill you in one blow. Next to a piece of meat lies the stone. To reach the stone safely, use an invisibility potion or die your way through. Click this stone too.
Step 12: Boralus
The next stone is in a cave, to the east of Boralus. The entrance is at a waterfall at coordinates 80 / 19. The cave has many stones, but only one is the correct one. The correct stone is under a long scroll that spreads from a pillar. Click the stone.
Step 13: Boralus
You stay in Boralus, because the next coordinates are 10 / 82. Hidden under the algae is another secret access to a cave. Again there are many stones and only one is the correct one, hidden under some algae.
Step 14: The Open Sea
The last stone is again far in the exhaustion zone, east of Vol’dun. The entrance is at the coordinates 55 / -10 on the map of Zandalar. The easiest way to reach it is shown in this video:

Finally, follow the last step. You need to travel to Draenor in Frostfire Ridge. At the coordinates 62 / 22, you will find a volcano. In the middle of the volcano is Baa’l. You must defeat him in a pet battle to obtain this pet.
Baa’l is practically unbeatable, but with a trick, he becomes significantly weaker. If you possess and summon the pet Uuna (or if another player is nearby), he loses much of his strength and is easier to defeat.
Congratulations, after the long journey you have earned Baa’l!
The community suspects that the riddle goes even further and that Baa’l is just the first step of a much larger puzzle. It remains exciting…
The strategic action MMO Conqueror’s Blade is represented at this year’s Gamescom. Our authors Jürgen and Tarek had the opportunity to take a look at the game at publisher My.com and even play it themselves.
It’s Gamescom and publishers are taking the opportunity to showcase their upcoming titles. Therefore, Jürgen and I were able to take a detour to My.com to test the MMO Conqueror’s Blade and directly ask the developers questions.
What is Conqueror’s Blade? Conqueror’s Blade is a PC-exclusive MMO that combines action and military strategy elements and aims to deliver grand, epic battles to players. You command your own units against other players in battle to either expand or defend your territory.
Additionally, you manage fortresses, cities, resources, and trade routes. A variety of soldiers are available to you, each utilizing different weapons and abilities depending on their “culture” of origin.
You have access to troops primarily from the cultural spheres of
the European region,
the Near East,
the Middle East, and
East Asia
Also, you choose from specific weapons and thereby define your abilities. To put it superficially, you would probably compare it to a mix of For Honor and the Total War series.
When will Conqueror’s Blade be released and where? So far, there is no release date yet, but the platform will be Steam. A closed beta is set to start in the fall.
The Gamescom Demo of Conqueror’s Blade
First, we took a few initial steps in the demo. In a mission that could be described as a kind of tutorial, we familiarized ourselves with the hub, our fortress, the controls, and the peculiarities of troop management.
We had access to a level 60 character. We did not learn how advanced this level is.
So the mission began:Before starting, we select the composition of our unit. They differ in their ancestry. We could lead Polish and Chinese soldiers together into battle against a fortress. In addition to your units, you can pack siege equipment like
cannons (with different types of ammunition),
ballistae,
crossbows
and mortars
that you can place anywhere.
In the tutorial mission, we fought against NPCs and needed to conquer a fortress. Initially, we tried to cause damage to the walls with more or less well-aimed cannon shots.
When that went spectacularly wrong, we initiated a frontal assault on the fortress walls, stormed up the ladders, and were swiftly cut down. Conqueror’s Blade is not a one-man show.
You rely on the protection of your troops, otherwise, the enemy units will overrun you. So choose wisely which troops should accompany you. Archers? Melee fighters? The selection is ample and you can choose freely among the cultures.
In battle, you can command these units. As a command, you can either
let them follow you,
have them form a shield wall around you
or send them against the enemy
This works quite quickly, and the soldiers always obey your commands. Just don’t run ahead alone, otherwise they won’t follow you. However, we did not complete this mission but rather jumped directly into a PvP round after a short introductory phase.
Battles in PvP offer cinematic moments
In PvP, Conqueror’s Blade became truly exciting. In the previously played tutorial mission, we had encountered relatively dumb AI opponents, but against other players, it became significantly more thrilling.
This time we were in the defender role and immediately targeted enemy siege towers with the cannon. Scenes like this are epic and reminiscent of movies like Kingdom of Heaven or The Lord of the Rings.
Ultimately, our opponents managed to break through and storm the outer walls. However, with the ballista and our units, we managed to hold the main gate and destroy an enemy battering ram. Many players met their end.
However, that’s not a problem. If you die during a siege in Conqueror’s Blade, you’ll simply respawn. You can only lose or win if the enemy troops are completely destroyed or if time runs out.
When our opponents finally succeeded in breaking through the main gate, we engaged in some skirmishes. In the heat of battle, we unfortunately had to stop due to time constraints. Nevertheless, we were able to glean some insights from the gameplay.
What to expect in the finished game
Our demo version only contained a small part of Conqueror’s Blade. A look at the map revealed that it is likely to be very large. Unfortunately, we did not see anything of the game world.
What can players expect in the full version? An extensive economy system that allows you to manage crafting, resources, and other goods. Additionally, the PvP battles are said to allow up to 30 players to compete against each other.
You will primarily choose from European and Asian leaders. Each continent will have different types of troops and weapons.
How does the open world work? The open world will likely be accessible through an NPC. You will need food to travel and visit other cities. There you can, for example, recruit units.
After a certain level, you can also attack them. How exactly this will work in the finished game is still unclear.
Our conclusion on the Gamescom demo of Conqueror’s Blade
Conqueror’s Blade plays fluidly and has a great atmosphere, yet there are still some unanswered questions. How will the balancing look? What if players just cause chaos in PvP? How does conquering player fortresses work?
We will keep an eye on this for you and report when there are updates.
At Gamescom 2018, we were able to take a closer look at the new mobile strategy MMO Skylanders: Ring of Heroes. The latest game in the Skylanders series focuses on smartphones and loot boxes instead of toy figures.
For many players, the term Skylanders primarily means colorful monster game figures that stand in some corners of electronics stores. With these figures, Skylanders was extremely successful in 2011. The first game in the series was released at that time on all common consoles and had a unique concept called “Toys to Life”.
What is Toys to Life? In Skylanders, you fight with cute monsters (the Skylanders) against other creatures. To get a monster, you had to buy the corresponding figure in real life and could load it into the game using the appropriate hardware and then use it virtually.
This “Toys to Life” concept was particularly well received by kids at the time, and sales boomed. However, by now the concept has worn out, and the last main series game was released in 2016. Something new is needed.
Smartphone instead of toy figures
Skylanders becomes a mobile game: With the new series installment Skylanders: Ring of Heroes, the series takes a different direction. There will be no more figures. Instead, you play on your smartphone and collect your monsters in the game.

Loot boxes replace toys: If you want a new creature, you have to collect the right soul stones. Depending on which beast you want, you need different stones. The gems can be obtained for certain achievements in the game or through RNG loot boxes.
However, the developers assure that they do not want to operate a pay-to-win system and that it is also possible to collect sufficient monsters without spending real money.
In total, there are currently 62 Skylanders and 20 support creatures. The developers intend to bring more creatures into the game after the release.
Figures are useless: However, anyone who hoped to use their old Skylanders figures in Ring of Heroes will be disappointed. The figures have no function anymore in the mobile game.
Complex mobile gameplay
How does Skylanders:Ring of Heroes play? The game is basically a hero grinder similar to Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes. This means that you assemble a team of three monsters and add lesser monsters (villains) as support.
Your monsters then attack the enemy team on a static battlefield. The game principle is fundamentally turn-based but not in the classical sense.
Cooldowns determine order: You can have your monsters perform various actions that have different cooldowns. Additionally, each monster builds up mana over time, which can be used for special actions.
Depending on what commands you give your monsters, they will come up more or less often. The result is a colorful, dynamic action spectacle, where something is always happening.
PvP is also available: In addition to PvP and coop battles against AI monster teams, you can play Skylanders Ring of Heroes in PvP:
Asynchronous: You compete against a team of another player who is not online. Instead, you try to beat their pre-made team, with the AI taking control of the enemy
Synchronous: Here you compete in real-time against another player and fight for victory. Here you’ll receive better rewards than in asynchronous PvP
The Monster Workshop
Your Skylanders can be optimized: When you get a Skylander, it has a set of complex strengths and weaknesses as well as multiple skills. You can further optimize the creature and equip it with gear and runes.
This way, you can optimize your favorite monster according to your playstyle and further enhance it. Particularly successful monsters can be further upgraded and finally even “awakened”, which provides a new skin along with changed stats and skills.
Release and hardware
When willSkylanders: Ring ofHeroes be released? The game will be released as a free-to-play title in October for iOS and Android devices.
Whathardware doI need? The hardware requirements are moderate. During the Gamescom presentation, Skylanders: Ring of Heroes ran with lower graphics settings even on an old iPhone 6s from 2015.

Who is the game suitable for? Skylanders: Ring of Heroes is said by the developers to be particularly interesting for fans of the previous games. However, newcomers should also find it easy to navigate. The game is also intended to satisfy both casual players and hardcore gamers.

A new trailer for The Division 2 has been released for Gamescom 2018. Watch it here in German.
As part of Gamescom 2018, Ubisoft released a fresh trailer for The Division 2. It is labeled by Ubisoft as a gameplay trailer, but there isn’t much gameplay to be seen as one might expect. You can see the landscape and some agents from in-game footage.

The events in The Division 2 begin seven months after the outbreak of the deadly virus. While New York was the scene of events in The Division 1, the agents are drawn to the capital, Washington D.C., in The Division.
Content of the trailer: In the trailer, a narrator poses the question of how all this could happen. Washington is said to be the safest capital, better prepared for such a pandemic than any other. Regardless of what caused the chaos in Washington, the Division agents are fighting back, according to the narrator. The crucial moment has come. If the Division fails, the nation will finally fall apart.
In the background, there are likely in-game scenes of the devastated capital. Finally, the trailer notes that by pre-ordering The Division 2, you can gain access to a private beta.
After the outbreak of the deadly virus, chaos spread worldwide. That’s why the Division, a unit of sleeper agents, was activated to restore order. They are to save what is left. In The Division, you play as one such Division agent.
In The Division 2, you must save Washington D.C., the capital of the USA, and thus the entire nation from collapse.
The Division 2 will be an online open-world game that combines shooter elements with RPG elements. You can play either solo or cooperatively in a group of up to 4 players. There will be PvE and PvP elements.
After the early access release on Steam, a port for the horror shooter Hunt: Showdown has now also been confirmed for Xbox at Gamescom.
Hunt is confirmed for Xbox: The bounty hunter shooter Hunt: Showdown was presented by Microsoft at the “Inside Xbox @ Gamescom” event for Xbox. The game will be playable via the Xbox Game Preview service.
Hunt: Showdown is a game with elements of PvE and PvP. You hunt monsters in a dark setting and earn a bounty for the beasts. After that, you must escape – because on the way out of the swamp, you can be killed by other players and relieved of your loot.

A new trailer shows in typical Fallout fashion how the building system in Fallout 76 works. It is designed to even protect you from atomic strikes.
In a new trailer “New American Dream,” presented at the Gamescom by Microsoft, you can see how the building system of Fallout 76 works. It explains how securing a base should work.
That bases in Fallout 76 are movable with the C.A.M.P. system was already known. The new trailer humorously illustrates that your constructed buildings and items can be secured and rebuilt elsewhere.
Importantly: This means that even the impact of an atomic missile in Fallout 76 does not irrevocably destroy your base. You can relocate your home at any time to a new position or rebuild it after destruction using saved templates.
Black Desert Remastered is just around the corner. A trailer showcases the new graphics effects and the revamped music that fans can expect at release.
On August 22, 2018, it’s time, and Black Desert Remastered will launch as an update for all players of the MMO. Fans can look forward to improved graphics, new visual effects, new sound effects, and an enhanced soundtrack.
Black Desert takes the next step
Prepared for the future: Many MMOs with realistic graphical styles face the problem of looking outdated after a few years. Developers tend to focus more on creating new content rather than improving the graphics.
However, Black Desert is expected to look great in 2019 and beyond. The game has only been playable in Korea since 2015 and in Europe since 2016, yet it is already being completely remastered.
Trailer shows Black Desert at its best
Prettier graphics: With the trailer, Pearl Abyss aims to show current and future players what to expect in Black Desert after the overhaul.
The water and clouds look more realistic
Armors shine and clothing is simulated more realistically
Over 100 music tracks have been remastered, totaling over 300 minutes of new music
New sound effects have been added for the player, making Black Desert sound even more realistic
Dialogues have been re-recorded and aim to feel more cinematic
A class is currently terrorizing PvP players in World of Warcraft. Anyone who sees a Discipline Priest would rather take to their heels!
If you dare to take a look into the PvP forums of World of Warcraft or just start a casual “Which class is strong in PvP?” discussion, you know the problem. Discipline Priests currently dominate world PvP in Battle for Azeroth and often manage to keep even multiple enemy players in check.
What makes Discipline Priests so strong? Discipline Priests have a strange role since their rework in Legion, as they are one of the last remaining “hybrid classes”. They can deal damage while also healing or absorbing damage. This is particularly problematic in PvP. Their “Power Word: Shield” can be cast permanently. If the shield is broken, the priest is healed by the damage they deal.
A well-played Discipline Priest will never run into mana problems in a duel. Perhaps they won’t be able to kill their opponent – but the opponent definitely cannot either.
Multiple players necessary: In open-world PvP, as well as in battlegrounds, it often occurs that three, four, or even five players are needed to kill a Discipline Priest in a timely manner. Because only if the priest is permanently stunned or silenced do they have a chance at victory.
Community reacts with memes: At least players are currently dealing with the problem humorously. There are numerous memes on Reddit about the state of the Discipline Priest. Like this little Spongebob GIF with the description “DPS against Discipline Priests”.
No fun in combat: The biggest problem with the Discipline Priest right now is probably that it is simply no fun to play against them. When encountering an enemy Discipline Priest, many players simply back off, as they would otherwise waste a lot of time. Because solo, they will definitely not kill this priest – unless he is currently afk.
In Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, first gameplay footage of the new multiplayer map Arsenal has surfaced. Check out the new map from Gamescom 2018 in the video now.
A new video featuring PC gameplay of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is currently making the rounds on Reddit, YouTube, and social media. The nearly ten-minute clip shows a multiplayer match on the new map Arsenal, which was presented by Treyarch at Gamescom 2018.
The map appears larger than the already known maps and offers a mix of expansive open areas and tight, winding corridors.
Fans like the map: The first reactions from fans to the new map are largely positive. Many like both the look and the design of the Arsenal map. Especially in objective-based gameplay modes, the map is said to provide a lot of fun according to numerous players.
The battle royale mode for Battlefield V is not being developed by DICE itself, but by another studio. This was recently revealed by an EA employee.
During the EA press conference at E3 2018, a battle royale mode for Battlefield 5 was confirmed. This mode is said to have its own charm and will be called “Royale.” However, it will not be available at the release of Battlefield 5. A specific date is still pending.
Another studio responsible for the Royale mode of Battlefield V
New info by chance: Since the announcement, fans have been eagerly waiting for more details about the upcoming battle royale mode of Battlefield V. Recently, the Global Community Lead for EA’s Star Wars games, Ben Walke, inadvertently shared a new detail on Reddit.
In a thread of the Battlefront 2 sub-Reddit that discussed how developers from Battlefront 2 were reassigned to work on the battle royale mode for Battlefield 5, he said: “Royale is being developed by another studio, not DICE.” Walke did not specify which studio it is.
Fans are now speculating whether this also excludes the involvement of the LA division of DICE, which is often responsible for post-launch support and the development of Battlefield addons. This would suggest that DICE may have completely outsourced the development of Royale.
Many fans are pleased: Numerous fans welcome this news. This way, DICE could focus on the core elements of Battlefield 5 and give them the urgent attention they need, rather than completely indulge in the battle royale trend. It is good to hear that apparently no important resources are being diverted for the battle royale mode, which could potentially harm the actual game.
By the way: At the end of the new Gamescom trailer for Battlefield 5, you get a brief look at snow-covered mountain ranges and a forest fire tightening its grip around a small village. This appears to be a map of the upcoming battle royale mode, which is getting smaller.
EA also announced that vehicles can be used in the mode and there will likely be team play as well. The series-typical destruction is expected to be a key feature of Royale. Much more is not known about the upcoming mode so far.
What do you think of this news? Would it be a good step for Battlefield 5 to have the Royale mode developed externally and focus all resources on the main game?

A few days ago, Torchlight Frontiers was announced, and now there is a first gameplay trailer available. And it promises more of the colorful and chaotic Torchlight charm.
Recently, Perfect World announced a sequel to Torchlight. The series was created by Max Schaefer, the co-founder of Blizzard North and Runic Games. With his new studio Echtra Games, Schaefer is once again responsible for the ARPG, which this time will become an MMO and will be released for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
Players will explore a colorful, cute world that is, however, full of dangers. In addition, some classes are showcased, such as a type of mage or an engineer. The crazy and cute pets of the series will apparently return as well. An owl and a llama can be seen in the trailer.
Torchlight Frontiers is set to release in 2019 for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. On the official website, interested parties can already sign up for a beta.
A few new details about Cyberpunk 2077 have been revealed. Those who want to spend a lot of time in the game will likely not be disappointed. With the length and complexity of the quests, Cyberpunk 2077 is oriented towards The Witcher 3.
Fans are eager for every little piece of information they can soak up about Cyberpunk 2077. In an interview with PcGamer, quest designer Patrick Mills talked about the complexity and scope of the quests. Players will likely not be disappointed.
Duration and scope like The Witcher 3: The developers of Cyberpunk 2077 are holding back many details. However, Mills already mentioned, “I would say you can expect something similar to The Witcher 3. Especially in terms of gameplay time and the complexity of the quests.”
This promises around 100 hours of gameplay content already. Specifically, there is a desire to orient towards the quests of the DLCs of Witcher 3, namely “Hearts of Stone” and “Blood and Wine.” Here, the quest design was more refined.
Much choice in the approach. In terms of the flow of individual quests, players are to be given a lot of freedom. Players should always be able to ask themselves, “And what if I want to do it this way?” to deviate from the actual quest.
While no specific examples are provided here, it will likely be possible to simply kill NPCs or lie to characters to achieve objectives.
Logic is particularly important. In Cyberpunk 2077, the developers are trying to tell a coherent story, and the quests must support that.
As an example for comparison, they mentioned a quest from Witcher in which you had to fetch paint from a cave. However, the paint was only to be found after the quest had been accepted – this was later changed. The paint should already be placed there, even if the player has not yet taken the quest. A similar approach is also aimed for Cyberpunk 2077.
However, there is still no release date for Cyberpunk 2077.
The YouTuber The Hive Leader tries to explain in a video why so many indie developers of new MMORPGs are looking to the market before the release of World of Warcraft. What idea is behind MMORPGs like Project Gorgon, Legends of Aria, Pantheon, Camelot Unchained, and all those titles?
There are hardly any AAA MMORPGs being announced, which is a trend that can be seen since 2014. According to The Hive Leader, this is partly due to the shift in player interest. Nowadays, more MOBAs, survival games, and online shooters are played than MMORPGs.
Since these new genres represent a lower risk in production, even large developers are shifting to these genres. AAA MMORPGs, especially in the theme park genre, are simply too expensive to produce.
Hope for Indie Developers: Smaller studios that are indie developers have discovered the MMORPG market for themselves in recent years. They want to take care of the future of the genre – by bringing it back to the past.
These are indie MMORPGs that rely on nostalgia: Many indie MMOs are in development that focus on the nostalgia factor:
Hype without a Model: Why is there currently such a trend that new MMORPGs are oriented towards old genre representatives?
There can hardly be economic reasons, says The Hive Leader. After all, hardly any of these games has been released yet. So there is no “successful model” for other games to emulate.
For some, this has already happened with World of Warcraft, while others believe that solo content has become increasingly important and group play has been pushed into the background. Still others feel that the focus has been too heavily placed on the endgame.

Developers believe they are on the right track with nostalgia: If you look at the indie MMORPGs mentioned above, they mostly come from genre veterans who were involved in the early days and helped develop the classics. Behind Pantheon (Vanguard) or Camelot Unchained (Dark Age of Camelot) are veterans of the MMORPG scene.
It seems that these developers now believe that the new generation of MMOs is “wrong” and that we need to return to the glory days of MMORPGs when the genre was still successful and popular.
A kind of reboot is being pursued to see if the genre can be developed in such a way that MMORPGs can once again take an important place in the gaming market.
Modern MMORPGs target too broad an audience: It also seems to be the opinion that modern MMORPGs simply target too many players. Newbies, veterans, solo players, group players, PvP fans, PvE lovers, and so on.
All these players wanted to be united, which led to the dilution of individual aspects. Fewer and fewer players became interested in the small piece of the overall cake because they no longer liked the cake itself.

Indie MMOs target a niche: According to The Hive Leader, indie developers have recognized that it is better to target a small audience and give them exactly what they want. And that is often simply the experience of their favorite MMO from the past with modernized graphics.
Developers only need to focus on delivering what the fans want and not worry about reaching as wide an audience as possible. Moreover, they know exactly who they are targeting with their game.
A problem that arises from this is of course that one cannot expect to achieve the success of World of Warcraft. One cannot expect to reach millions of players with a niche game. Indie developers should be aware of this. Expectations need to be scaled back.
This way, even with a low budget, MMORPGs can be developed that reach a certain player base.
The Disadvantages of Indie MMORPGs: Time and again, MMO players hear that these indie titles are cool in terms of gameplay but look graphically outdated. The combat system is also often criticized.
This, according to The Hive Leader, is due to the lack of personnel and money for the games: Project Gorgon is developed by only two people, for example. Often, the combat system and the graphics suffer as a result.
Indie MMORPGs Focus on Gameplay: The Hive Leader believes that we need to view the situation from a different perspective. The games are starting anew. Back to the beginnings of the genre, aiming to show that this genre can develop in a different direction.
Only the next generation will probably focus more on graphics and presentation.
Initially, the developers simply want to prove that they are correct with their ideas on how MMORPGs should develop. And here, gameplay is initially more important than graphics.
MMORPGs powered by Passion
Indie developers just want to make the games they want to play. The great advantage of indie developers is that they are not subject to the dictates of a large publisher.
An indie developer can simply release the game they want to create and play themselves. Whether it generates profit or not. Often, such a project, where players see that the team has poured their heart and soul into it, also gains a certain fan community.
