The trailer begins with a reflection on Cayde’s death. The Vanguard mourns what has happened. The atmosphere is bleak and filled with sorrow. We also learn Cayde’s last words. He asks Uldren Sov: “How is your sister?” Mara Sov, the Queen of the Awoken, has been missing for two years.
Then we see Uldren speaking to the Barons – they are to spread chaos.
Revenge for Cayde-6: Ikora and Zavala discuss revenge for Cayde-6. Zavala emphasizes that they do not have an army at their disposal, but Ikora insists on avenging Cayde.
Then the Guardian speaks (that’s us) – who has so far remained silent in Destiny 2: “Uldren Sov is mine.” By the way, this is the top topic in the comments under the video. People are excited that their character finally gets a voice.
We still see that Uldren wants to seize the Light; he seeks the shard of the Traveler. And finally, there is the announcement that the Guardians are to storm the Reef. All. Every Titan, every Warlock, every Hunter.
According to Bungie, Forsaken will be the largest Destiny expansion yet. In addition to new game modes, new enemies, and fresh loot, the story continues to follow the Guardians, leading them this time into the Reef and the endgame zone “Dreaming City”.
Bungie already revealed in previous trailers the death of an important character in Forsaken: the death of Cayde-6. Your task will now be to avenge Cayde-6. The embedded launch trailer should already put you in the right mood for it.
Here is the launch trailer in the original English:

The Forsaken expansion will be released on September 4, 2018, for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Already today, on August 28th, in the evening hours, Update 2.0.0 will be deployed, which already introduces some new features and prepares for the Forsaken release.
Since Update 2.0.0 is associated with several hours of maintenance, you will have plenty of time tonight to watch the launch trailer over and over again. Enjoy!
Everything you need to know about Forsaken can be found here in the overview:
For September, The Elder Scrolls Online (PC, PS4, Xbox One) promises the strongest login rewards yet. In addition to 100,000 gold, there is a costume and 2 especially popular crown crates.
In August 2018, ESO players were lured into the game with strong login rewards. A total of 11 crown crates were available to grab. Players suspected that the many crates had something to do with the release of the WoW expansion Battle for Azeroth.
There is more to come: The almost legendary August was, in the eyes of the players, hard to top. But Zenimax has rolled out the big guns in September. Players have the opportunity to grab 100,000 gold.
How do I get the gold? To do this, you need to log in every day for 28 days of the next month and collect your reward. The goal of 28 days is quite tight. If you miss the daily login rewards more than twice, your chance for the 100,000 gold is gone.
Pacrooti is, as always, helping you open the crown crates.
What else is there? But besides the gold, Zenimax also lures players with other rewards.
On the 21st day of the September rewards, all players receive a special costume.
Additionally, 2 crown crates of the Wild Hunt await players on the 7th day.
And they receive 3 scrolls of learning with 150% more experience on the 14th day.
With the Scalecroft jacket, you can dress stylishly.
According to Zenimax, September is thus the strongest month since the login rewards began.
How do the login rewards work? With ESO: Summerset daily login rewards were introduced. Players have the opportunity to collect a login reward every day. If you forget to log in, you will instead receive the rewards from the previous day.
Top month follows top month: Players find the login rewards great. The 100,000 gold is practical for all players who haven’t accumulated much gold. But rich players also benefit. With the 100,000 gold, for example, the wish for a home can be fulfilled.
Additionally, players are excited about the return of the crown crates of the Wild Hunt. The rewards contained within, especially the mounts, are desired by some players.
At gamescom, we had the opportunity to talk with Steven Sharif and lead designer Jeffrey Bard from Intrepid Studios about their upcoming MMORPG Ashes of Creation.
In the first part of our interview, we discuss how the subscription MMORPG Ashes of Creation aims to avoid the mistakes of the canceled MMORPG Everquest Next. After all, Jeff Bard also worked as a game designer on Everquest Next.
The team wants to do better than Everquest Next
Steven Sharif in conversation with Dawid Hallmann from Mein-MMO.de
Everquest Next was overly ambitious: According to Jeff Bard, Daybreak Games wanted to achieve too much with Everquest Next, and ultimately it failed due to technology. They simply lacked the technology to implement the ambitious ideas.
Therefore, an extremely large amount of work was put into the development of this technology. This, in turn, led to delays and made the project increasingly expensive.
Ashes of Creation has a key advantage: Even with Ashes of Creation, the developers pursue complex ideas. However, they have approached this in a different way. Incrementally and with the understanding that they can actually implement them. Furthermore, Ashes of Creation has the advantage of being able to rely on an existing engine. The Unreal Engine 4 is used. With Everquest Next, everything had to be developed from scratch.
The ideas the team has are grounded in technologies that actually exist, allowing the features to be implemented. Thus, the development of Ashes of Creation, according to studio founder Steven Sharif and Jeffrey Bard, progresses differently than with Everquest Next.
An MMORPG for the community, developed with the players
Ashes of Creation is developed together with the community: The developers also explained in the conversation that they are developing Ashes of Creation not only for the players who will receive a vast world to explore, but that they want to create the MMORPG together with the community. The ideas and feedback from fans are important. They do not want to develop past the community like Bungie did with Destiny 2.
A classic MMO in modern attire: Ashes of Creation will build on a traditional MMORPG foundation known to genre fans. And on that, the developers will implement new systems based on innovative ideas. 10,000 players per server will encounter each other in a huge open game world. PvE, PvP, and crafting are important. Here, the new node system will be implemented, which makes the game something special.
You’ll learn more about the node system in another part of our conversation with the creators of Ashes of Creation.
A RPG in virtual reality is still a dream for many fans of Sword Art Online. With Nostos, this dream could finally become a reality.
Since the anime series Sword Art Online, the desire of players to immerse themselves fully in a world has grown significantly. With the emerging VR technology, this wish is becoming tangible. However, so far all hopeful contenders have turned out to be disappointments or PR stunts – but now Nostos is coming.
At Gamescom 2018, the VR RPG Nostos was introduced, which is sure to thrill fans.
What is Nostos? Nostos is a VR RPG developed by the giant Chinese corporation NetEase and was first extensively showcased at Gamescom 2018. The game also supports SpatialOS, the wondrous technology from Improbable.
These two companies are currently working on the future of MMORPGs.
But this future of MMORPGs is still far away. Currently, it is the collaboration Nostos that arises from it. Alongside a playable demo on-site, there was also a nice trailer to enjoy, which you can watch here:

The graphics in the cel-shaded look remind many players of the latest Zelda installment (Breath of the Wild) or various representatives of the “Tales of” series (such as Tales of Berseria). Big round eyes, powerful weapons, and vibrant colors in anime style are sure to please all Japan fans.
How is the gameplay? In Nostos, players roam an open, post-apocalyptic game world and must search in the ruins of civilization for a way to rescue the remaining survivors. Resources must also be gathered and camps constructed, as many creatures in the world are hostile. There are also “survival aspects,” which will probably come in typical RPG fashion.
Whether there will be a classic quest system is still unknown. The developers are still discussing it. A completely free exploration of the world without a proper “end” would also be possible.
Not Sword Art Online: As “real” as Sword Art Online is Nostos not. After all, it will not be a pure VR MMORPG, but “only” a VR RPG with a multiplayer mode. In the demo, up to four players could play together. How many will be in the finished game is still uncertain. However, teaming up with hundreds of players to embark on adventures seems rather unlikely.
In summary, Nostos will probably not be the desired “Sword Art Online” VR MMO – but it could be a first step in a good direction and a worthwhile game in the otherwise rather mixed VR market.
A specific release date for Nostos is still pending. So far, only “2019” has been stated.
At Gamescom 2018, Jürgen was able to try out the pirate MMO Skull and Bones and talk to the developers from Ubisoft. There, they revealed how Skull and Bones aims to avoid the sad fate of Sea of Thieves.
This is how Skull and Bones plays: I have been waiting a long time for an opportunity to play the pirate epic Skull and Bones myself, and at Gamescom 2018, it was finally time. And I was not disappointed. The naval battles are fast, dynamic, and action-packed.
The tragic fate of Sea of Thieves: However, during the wild naval battles, I always had the fate of Sea of Thieves in mind. Here too, it was about pirates, and the game made a great first impression. But then it quickly sank and was lost in the deep sea of irrelevance due to a lack of content and massive griefing – at least for the time being.
At Gamescom, I was able to play the pirate MMO live.
When I finally had the opportunity to speak with Justin Farren, the Creative Director of Ubisoft Singapore, I had a few burning questions on my mind.
The features of Skull and Bones
Mein-MMO: “How do you want to keep the game feeling fresh and prevent it from ending up like Sea of Thieves?”
Justin: “Players need a strong motivation; they don’t want to be bored. They have to be engaged in a motivating progression. They need social interaction opportunities, and they need us as developers to tackle toxic behavior.
In that area, some players are surprisingly creative, as seen with griefing in the Dark Zone of The Division. Fortunately, we at Ubisoft can coordinate with other internal teams and draw on their experience in dealing with griefers.”
Skull and Bones will offer Seasons
Mein-MMO: “Is there any kind of road map or plan for how you will continue the game after release?”
Justin: “Skull and Bones will be a ‘Live Service Game’ [a game that continues to be developed and updated]. We will develop it in the context of ‘Seasons’. In each Season, there will be new content, new challenges, and new regions for you to experience.
Many online games are going this route nowadays to keep players engaged. So we will constantly have new things, including cosmetics for captains and ships. Additionally, there will be a progressing timeline, meaning the scenario in the game world will evolve.
There will also likely be certain rewards and items that you can only earn in a specific Season and will never be available again. For example, if we featuring a legendary NPC pirate in a Season. Whoever manages to defeat them might receive a cosmetic item that no one else has.”
How will they prevent griefing?
Mein-MMO: “Players can spontaneously form groups in the open world, but they can also betray each other and stab each other in the back. This is very ‘pirate-like’, but how do you want to prevent griefing?”
Justin: “We definitely have to assume from the start that toxic behavior exists. We cannot pretend it doesn’t. Therefore, we need to provide players with systems that give them a sense of trust among their group members.
In our demo video from E3, it comes across that you can betray and backstab at any time. However, in the game, we want to ensure that you don’t just join a group to be ambushed shortly after.
That doesn’t sound like a fair encounter. We will therefore give players the ability to determine how groups operate and not force them into unfair situations.”
Mein-MMO: “Ah, so something like a cooldown period that is triggered when you want to break up the group and during which you are still invulnerable?”
Justin: “Exactly something like that! We want to incorporate betrayal and treachery as a positive part of the game that can be enjoyable. As a fun PvP element. Not as an expression of toxic player behavior to which one is helplessly exposed.”
The possibilities of the harbor
Mein-MMO: “Will you always be stuck to the ship or will you also be able to go ashore?”
Justin: “In our demo here, you can only stand at the helm of your ship. But in the release version, we will have a fully buildable pirate hideout. There, you can walk freely and visit places like taverns, weapon shops, and shipwrights.
Here, you will be able to make changes to your ships and pirate captain, customize your crew, and do many other things. You can walk around freely on foot and check everything out here.”
Mein-MMO: “You could also incorporate mini-games like sword fights or drinking games into this pirate hideout?”
Justin: “We want to integrate the hideout as a meaningful element into the game and continue to expand it with features and functions. Who knows what else is to come?”

Mein-MMO: “Skull and Bones originally came from Assassin’s Creed, so it would surely also be possible to implement features from this game?”
Justin: “We work closely with other Ubisoft studios to learn from them. About 60 percent of our team has worked on the Assassin’s Creed franchise. So we can draw on a lot of internal know-how.”
Mein-MMO: “Will there actually be a story?”
Justin: “We do not have an offline single-player campaign, but there will be specific places, people, and events that will play a role over the course of the Seasons.”
Jürgen’s conclusion – Hopefully, more will come
This will determine the success of Skull and Bones: If Skull and Bones is to work as a pirate MMO, then it needs to have regular content. Otherwise, the raids on the open ocean will surely become dull and boring quickly.
The developers’ plans for regularly new Seasons sound promising, as long as they bring variety each time and do not take too long to arrive.
I am positively impressed by the apparently close collaboration of the various Ubisoft studios. This way, the combined know-how of the Assassin’s Creed and For Honor teams can be drawn upon, and possibly even further game modes like sword fights or stealth missions in enemy ports can be incorporated. That’s just part of a pirate game.
But those are probably still dreams for the future for Skull and Bones.
References to Generation 4 have been removed from the code of Pokémon GO. Instead, there are these new quests in the game’s code.
Dataminer has news: In the code of Pokémon GO, dataminer Chrales found hints about new research. These could be for the Safari Zone in Japan or future Community Days.
A direct reference to the fourth generation has since been removed from the code again. A break in the hype of the community.
Gen 4 hints were briefly there, now they’re gone again
Recently, the following lines related to Generation 4 were found in the code of Pokémon GO:
This caused some players to hype since Sinnoh is the region of Generation 4. The discovery of these code snippets meant for many trainers that a release of Gen 4 is imminent. Hopes were high. Many trainers were already counting on a soon release. Also, because a Gen 4 leak drew attention at the end of July.
Niantic dampens hope: The code has now been removed from the game again. It apparently was released too early.
Now we only know that Niantic is working on Generation 4. Many players have assumed this for a while. However, when the release will come is still unclear. The hope that Gen 4 with new Pokémon is already around the corner has now been dampened.
New Quests in Pokémon GO
Safari Zone in Japan: On August 29, the Safari Zone in Japan begins and runs until Sunday, September 2, Japan time. For this event, Niantic has apparently incorporated new quests into the game. A task line with Professor Willow is also included.
In Yokosuka (Japan), players are to solve a few Safari quests for the professor and will be rewarded with Stardust. This fits well because for completing the worldwide tasks, we will also be rewarded with Stardust bonuses later.
New Field Research: As reported by Chrales, the following quests are now in the network traffic of Pokémon GO. However, it is unclear whether they are related to the Safari Zone.
Catch X Tanhel
Catch X Bummelz
Catch X Trasla
Earn X Candies by walking with your buddy (already in the game)

Fortnite has received a new patch. In Update 5.3, however, there isn’t much new: Highlights include the mode “Pure Gold” and the new weapon “Shockwave Grenade.”
The highlights of Update 5.3: The new update for “Battle Royale” and “Save the World” is unfortunately not particularly abundant. It mainly brings new game modes and a new item, which is not a proper weapon:
New Item – Shockwave Grenade: This bomb has an epic rarity. It pushes players away like a Shock Grenade. Additionally, it deals damage when it collides with someone. You are immune to fall damage.
Limited-Time Game Mode – Pure Gold: In this mode, there are ONLY golden, i.e. legendary, items to find. This allows for new tactics and the game is practically in endgame mode from minute 1, as nobody has to upgrade for long. This time, the mode is also available in a 50vs50 format. This should ensure truly epic battles.

The PvE mode “Save the World” is also getting something new:
Horde Challenge Week 4: Build defensive bases and bring along a lot of ammunition, because in this week’s challenge traps will not be triggered. As a reward, you will receive the legendary Marauder Hero “Riptide Ramirez”.
Mystic Ninja “Blade Storm Wraith”: This new ninja will be available on August 30 at 02:00 AM. He has new abilities and perks. He also resembles the Wraith skin from Battle Royale mode.
Additionally, there were a bunch of smaller bug fixes and adjustments.
When does the update come? It is already here; there was no downtime.
What do the updates promise?
Update 5.3 – Small but nice? Even though Update 5.3 is overall rather meager, the new 50vs50 mode should hit hard and the Shockwave Grenade should certainly secure some cool kills in the hands of professionals.
And the new Horde Challenge in PvE should also be a tough nut to crack, thanks to the omission of traps.
Dice has incurred some community backlash with a screenshot of the online shooter Star Wars Battlefront 2. The situation is referred to as “Droidekagate.”
In a new screenshot of the online shooter Star Wars Battlefront 2, attentive fans have spotted a Droideka and hoped that these robots would be introduced in the game. However, when DICE denied this, it led to heavy criticism.
A Droideka causes a small uproar
Droideka teased in the screenshot: DICE is currently working on the “Elite Corps” update for Star Wars Battlefront 2. This is set to release on August 29. The developers released a screenshot as a teaser. Naturally, fans paid close attention and spotted a Droideka in the background.
Droidekas first appeared in the film Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace, posing a challenge to the Jedi Knights. Since Droidekas were also included in Star Wars Battlefront II from 2005 and were very popular among players as a playable class, there was hope that DICE would also introduce the robots into the current game and make them playable.
DICE denies Droidekas: However, DICE initially denied that it was even a Droideka. It was just “debris” in the background. But a zoom on the spot in the screenshot clearly shows that it is a Droideka. DICE then acknowledged this, but stated that it was an unused static asset from the game that somehow made its way into this image.
The Droidekas were once planned but were scrapped, so they don’t even have animations, let alone a UI or abilities.
Fans are disappointed: Consequently, players of Star Wars Battlefront 2 expressed significant disappointment. The future of the game has now become less interesting. It is highly unprofessional to generate such hype initially, only to then provide a massive disappointment. The criticism has been quite harsh, and fans are now referring to the situation as “Droideka-gate.” It is not just about the Droideka itself, but about the communication with fans, which leaves much to be desired.

Microsoft has announced that DayZ will be available as Game Preview for Xbox One starting August 29. A PS4 version of DayZ is also in the works and will be released at a later date. Here is what we know about the release of DayZ on Xbox One.
DayZ will be available on Xbox One as Game Preview. This is a program similar to Early Access, allowing Xbox players to purchase and test digital titles that are still in development.
Xbox One Version in Game Preview
The Microsoft Store explicitly states that DayZ is a game still in development. Existing features may change before the final release.
The Game Preview of DayZ will be available for Xbox One starting August 29. The price is not yet known. Bohemia Interactive has recently sent Closed Preview keys to 5,000 players. Until the release of the Game Preview, access to the game will only be possible through one of these keys.
How to download DayZ: The product page for the game is currently not accessible directly on the console. However, interested players can already find information about DayZ on the official Microsoft Store.
Once DayZ has been released, the survival game can be downloaded either through the store’s website to your home console or via the appropriate store tab on your Xbox One itself.
However, please note that an active Xbox Live Gold subscription is required to play DayZ.
What is DayZ?
DayZ started as a modification of the game ArmA 2: Combined Operations, before becoming a standalone game in 2013. The goal of the game is to survive for as long as possible in an open world populated by zombies.
Players start with very little equipment and supplies on an unknown beach and must venture inland to find weapons, armor, and medical supplies. However, the threat in DayZ comes not only from zombies, but also from other human players who can become a threat.
Players can choose whether to cooperate with others or to ambush them and steal their supplies. Thus, you must weigh how much you want to trust your fellow players.

Fortnite regularly offers new starter packs. They include an exclusive skin as well as goodies and V-Bucks for a low price. See here what’s included in the new pack “The Ace”. Many are reminded of the new TV series “Money Heist” by the skin.
The third starter pack: Today, on August 28, 2018, the PlayStation Store of the United Arab Emirates releases the latest starter pack called “The Ace”. This is the third of such packs; the first two were the “Halo Skin” and the “Wingman”.
The contents of the new starter pack: The centerpiece of the new starter pack is Ace, the new outfit of the same name. It features a masked woman. She wears a hood. Her colors are red, white, and black.
Additionally, there is another back bling called “Swag Bag”. It looks like a sports bag full of V-Bucks.
The outfit looks like a popular TV series
Where is the skin known from? The new outfit is meant to represent a type of thief. Many believe the outfit references the new TV series “Money Heist”. This is a Spanish TV series from 2017 that was very successful on Netflix.
Fortnite is known for generously using popular culture.
A real bargain?
What else is in the Ace pack? As usual, the developers have included 600 V-Bucks in the pack. This is approximately 6 euros.

Is the starter pack worth it? The pack costs only 4.99 euros. This is less than the value of the included V-Bucks. The skin and the back bling are therefore a free bonus.
Ideal for bargain hunters: So if you like playing Fortnite but do not want to spend much money on skins, this is the right choice. Normally, character skins cost at least 8 euros and usually do not include a back bling or extra in-game currency for this price range.
Why is Epic doing this? However, the special offer is not just pure goodwill from Epic Games. Rather, such bargains attract people to the shop who have not yet made any microtransactions in the game. This provides Epic with valuable “first purchases.”
The idea behind it is that a player who has purchased something once is more likely to buy something a second time. Especially since the 600 V-Bucks from the pack alone are not enough for additional character skins, and some players will surely reach for their virtual wallet again.
When exactly does the pack come out? The exact release time on August 28 is unfortunately still unclear.
It is still unclear how many players can compete against each other in the in-house Battle Royale mode Blackout in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. Information from merchants now provides a possible new hint.
Recently, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 was listed on the website of the leading game retailer GAME from the UK. The game’s description also contained details about the player count of the Blackout mode. However, this information has not been officially confirmed.
Maximum player count in Blackout likely follows genre standard
Like the competition: If we are to believe the game description, up to 100 players will be able to participate in matches in the Blackout mode of Black Ops 4 – just like in Fortnite, PUBG, or H1Z1.
The feature was described with the words: “…you are competing against 99 other players on the largest Call of Duty map…”. However, the wording of the description has since been changed.
Speculations about the size: There has been speculation about the total player count in Blackout for some time now. While numerous sources have suggested a reduced player count (60), there were also previous hints of up to 100 players. Whether the most recent information is an error or an actual premature release is still unknown.
Blackout Beta should bring clarity: A dedicated beta for the Blackout mode of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is scheduled for September. By then, there should be an official statement regarding the maximum player count of the battle royale mode.
Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate releases today, August 28, on the Nintendo Switch. We reveal everything you need to know about the title.
Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate is now available as a boxed version in stores and as a download for Nintendo Switch. This marks the first title in the Monster Hunter series to come to Nintendo’s hybrid console.
What is Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate? It is the successor to Monster Hunter Generations, which was released in 2015 on the Nintendo 3DS. Monster Hunter Generations is part of the fourth generation of the franchise and came before Monster Hunter World.
What is special about the Ultimate version? The Ultimate version brings new content, such as the fan-desired new quest level “G-Rank”. For many hunters, the real endgame begins with Ultimate, as the monsters are more aggressive, have tougher move sets, and are generally harder to defeat. To match this, new equipment must be farmed again.

Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate is an older game: Those who are new to the franchise through World should know that this is an older title. The Ultimate expansion does not change this.
There will be overall fewer comfort features, which some veterans may see as a plus. Think of things like being able to drink potions only while standing or loading screens between different zones of the maps. We have already broken down the differences in detail:
This is how multiplayer works on the Switch: With up to four players on local Wi-Fi or online. This can be done from home on the TV or in tabletop mode. Players can meet in a café and play, as was done with Monster Hunter on the Nintendo 3DS.
Transfer save data from the 3DS: Those who have already played Monster Hunter Generations can transfer their save data to the Nintendo Switch and seamlessly continue playing the Ultimate version. Here is our preview report:
The puzzles of World of Warcraft are getting increasingly difficult and absurd. Moreover, they are called “Waist of Time”, which sounds like a waste of time. Is Blizzard just trolling its fans?
This is, of course, a play on words and stands for “wasting time” or “Waste of Time”. The name is indeed well chosen, as the puzzle kept players occupied for days. Even with a guide, solving the individual puzzles takes several hours, making it a very time-consuming task.
Together with the pun comes the question: Do players not feel trolled by Blizzard? After all, it is a long and very complicated puzzle, at the end of which the developers tell you: “Congratulations, here is your reward for the waste of time.”
Puzzle fun in WoW: The journey is the reward
Most players of the “WoW Secret Finding” Discord server seem to have no problem at all with how long the puzzles are and that the reward seems to be minimal. They are having so much fun with the puzzles that the actual reward takes a back seat. Similar to a treasure hunt, it is not the reward that is the true goal, but the fun of finding new clues.
That the puzzles are hardly solvable for average players anymore has been covered in this article:
Puzzle masters are still searching. However, the players of the “WoW Secret Finding” Discord server have not given up yet. They suspect that the belt is needed to unlock another step in the puzzle. Currently, they have no reliable lead, but the search is still ongoing.
As long as there is no clear confirmation from Blizzard that this puzzle has been solved, the puzzle masters will likely not rest. For them, it seems that this is not a “Waste of Time” – but rather a time-filling evening program over several days. Sometimes the journey is simply more beautiful than the destination.
This distinguishes puzzle masters significantly from “normal” players. For the puzzle masters, the puzzles and the next step are already reward enough. For “normal” players, the puzzles are just an annoyance that stands between them and the reward.
How did you perceive the puzzles of Legion and Battle for Azeroth? Is Blizzard just trolling its players, or do the developers give fans exactly what they want?
In Fortnite: Battle Royale (PC, PS4, iOS, Android, Switch & Xbox One) the current Season 5 is slowly coming to an end. But what about Season 6? Here is what we already know about the start, new skins, or a change on the map.
The end of Season 5 is near: Since August 24, 2018, Season 5 has been headed towards the finale. As in previous months, something big happens at the end of the season. In this case a huge purple cube. It appeared at Paradise Palms and pushes away anyone who touches or attacks it.
The date is known: According to the timer in the game, Season 5 lasts until September 26, 2018.
Season 6 is set to officially start on September 27, 2018, according to Epic.
The Path of the Cube – Does it lead to Loot Lake?
Based on traces found by data miners, it seems that the cube aims for Loot Lake. There are several reasons for this:
Loot Lake has not been updated in ages, the region was spared by the rocket or the comet from previous seasons
Loot Lake is terribly boring, as a large part of the area consists only of hard-to-cross water. Only in the end game, when the storm forces players there and they have enough materials to build bridges, does the area become somewhat interesting. An update is therefore urgently needed!
Loot Lake is quite central, but currently serves no meaningful purpose in the game, as no one likes to land there at the start of a match.
The lake must go! All these reasons suggest that Epic should remodel the picturesque lake. And what better way to do that than to drop a huge purple cube that reshapes everything? Some theories even speak of a lava lake or a SciFi city.
Crazy Castle? – What new locations could come?
So far, every season has introduced at least one new location, most recently the golf course Lazy Links, the desert region Paradise Palms, and the unnamed Viking ship at Greasy Grove. However, there are hints of a new location: a castle!
Is a castle named Crazy Castle coming? Rumors about a castle named Crazy Castle emerged when a new spray logo bearing that name first appeared. Alliterations as place names are typical for Fortnite.
The castle in the background: The rumors about the castle gained further momentum when a teaser for a new emote revealed a blurred structure in the background that looked like a castle.

And since nothing at Epic seems to happen by chance, this could well be a hint at a new location called Crazy Castle coming soon.
More time travel or going back to the beginning?
Where is the Viking ship? Strangely, the Viking ship on the mountain is not visible in the picture with the alleged castle. Does that mean the ship is about to disappear again?
What is the Enforcer about? Perhaps time travel will be reversed again. This would also fit with the story twist in week 7, as a group of hooded figures suddenly appeared on the new bonus image, coming from a rift and looking quite aggressive.
These “Enforcers” want to “restore order” according to their description text. So, could it be a kind of space-time police that puts a stop to the colorful time travel antics in Fortnite?
More or less time travel? On the other hand, they could also fail and accelerate the whole time travel theme even more. Then it would also make sense for another castle to appear and for the Viking ship to potentially reappear at a different location. This would also explain why it still doesn’t have a name.
What items could come next?
New forms of movement: So far, each season has brought at least four new consumable items that improved your mobility. These were the Hop Rocks in Season 4 and the rifts in Season 5.
The consumable items disappeared in the next season, but a piece of equipment that did something similar remained. These were the bounce pads and the portable rifts.
This item might emerge from the cube: Season 6 will likely introduce an item related to the cube. Perhaps a type of “damage shield” that absorbs hits for a short time and bounces them back at the attacker.
Later, this could become a kind of aggressive shield potion. But that is currently pure speculation.
What skins are to be expected in Season 6?
More historical skins? Right now, we don’t know exactly what the cube will cause. However, if more time and dimension travels occur, then many more historical outfits could be possible.
It would certainly be cool to see more knights, a kind of king/queen (this would also match the term battle royale), or the long-awaited Romans, Egyptians, pirates, or cowboys.
That’s it for our speculations and assumptions about Season 6. What are your thoughts on this topic?
The Zombie survival game Dying Light is getting a battle royale mode. The standalone expansion is called “Bad Blood” and is set to release in September 2018. Our author Leya was able to play “Brutal Royale” at Gamescom 2018 and experienced heart racing like never before in a battle royale.
Dying Light: Bad Blood has successfully created an exciting mix of PvE zombie apocalypse and PvP battle royale. This sets it apart from the classic battle royale and gave me a real thrill of excitement more than once.
That’s how it felt when I played it at Gamescom.
Collecting blood samples is risky, but it makes me stronger
After my last encounter with a zombie, my life was hanging by a thread. I couldn’t see a medkit anywhere. I had no choice but to plunge into one of the zombie hordes to get a blood sample. I only had a grenade and a wooden stick with me. My life was low, the risk high.
Collected blood samples increase life: But if the zombies didn’t get me, surely one of my fellow players would take me out easily. I had to become stronger! I knew that blood samples would increase my life, even beyond the initial maximum.
Zombies guard the blood samples: I found one of those small, disgusting, organic lumps sprouting from the ground. A so-called “Hive”. Right in such a lump, I had to jab my syringe to draw a blood sample. This immediately attracts a smacking horde of zombies that rushes towards me.
I took my club and rushed in recklessly. Those who want to win and survive have to take some risks. I smashed the heads of the disgusting undead that burst in a flow of blood. Just as a skull exploded in front of me, another zombie attacked me from behind.
Parkour abilities are practical for bombastic tricks
I realized I wouldn’t survive long among the zombies. Suddenly, I had a bright idea! I was told earlier that the characters here are equipped with special athletic abilities.
The athletic jump was my salvation: I skirmished my way out of the group of zombies and looked up. My character could easily get onto the sloped roof above me. Salvation!
On the roof, I had some peace from the zombies and casually threw my grenade right into the horde. A loud bang echoed, most of the zombies were dead, and I could take care of the rest with my club.
With the collected blood sample from the “Hive”, I felt better again and could search for new weapons. Among them were a bow, more bats, a shield, and another grenade.
Why weaken the opponents when the zombies can do it?
I set out in search of more loot. Besides the bow, there aren’t really any ranged weapons in Bad Blood. I hoped I would at least find something like an axe or a machete as an upgrade to my clubs.
When zombies become loyal helpers: As I walked along, I saw one of my fellow players confronting a gigantic zombie. The extra-large zombies guard more valuable “Hives” from which better blood samples can also be drawn. I decided to cautiously observe the situation.
The player eventually ran away from the giant zombie. From this, I learned that he was probably weakened and that I should leave the big zombie alone for now. I crept up on my human opponent and struck him directly on the back of the head. Before he even knew what was happening, his life was already mine along with his collected blood samples.
The helicopter arrives, the race begins!
Once enough blood samples have been collected, a helicopter eventually arrives. However, it only has room for one player and offers salvation from the zombie hell. There must be a sadistic research team behind this project.
The helicopter is displayed on the map: Now I have only one focus point. The landing zone. I see exactly where the helicopter is located. I feel well-equipped, even though my life is not at full capacity. I run towards the landing zone like a horse with blinders on, using my parkour skills to jump over any obstacles.
Just before salvation, I get hit: Only one other survivor and I stand in front of the helicopter. Should I just run straight ahead and try to be faster, or should I attack? I decide to attack him and rush towards him like a fury, bat in hand.
Unfortunately, my opponent pulls out a thick shield and deflects my attack, turning me into mush. Second place, he escapes. Maybe I should have just run.
A dev killed me: After I frustratedly threw my hands in the air and exclaimed, “Oh no!”, a head flashed next to the monitor right in front of me. The young man across from me asked if that was me he just slaughtered and robbed of victory. The other developers around us laughed and explained that he was also one of the devs who simply filled the test round.
He looked visibly guilty, but that was okay. The round was incredibly exciting, and I could have played another one right away.
Exciting mix of PvE zombie apocalypse and PvP battle royale
To stand out from the battle royale crowd, the developers have given their game the title “Brutal Royale”. It actually feels much more brutal than other representatives of the genre.
Close combat pushes you into the fight: For me, a big difference here is the focus on close combat. You are always up close and personal with zombies and other players. Sitting in a corner and “sniping” opponents simply doesn’t work here.
The environment can be used tactically: Particularly interesting are the possibilities that arise from the fight over the “Hives” and the zombies. Right here, I can imagine savvy players finding enough opportunities to exploit this for themselves. It could also be an option for a player to be struggling with zombies at a “Hive” while I sneak in and grab the blood sample from the “Hive” itself.
The zombie sounds can drive you crazy: The fight for survival is already exciting. But when that typical atmosphere of grunting and smacking zombies comes in, it sends my heart rate through the roof.
The map doesn’t shrink: In total, only 12 players compete against each other, but the map remains the same size throughout. At some point, the helicopter will come, and those who want to win must reach that point. This adds a lot of tension to the final minutes of the match, as there is that one point that is so crucial for victory.
This is how Bad Blood differs from the typical battle royale
A quick overview of how Bad Blood stands out:
Only 12 players compete against each other
The map remains the same size until the end and does not shrink
PvE is integrated through zombies
Blood samples from the “Hives” of zombies must be collected. Hordes of zombies protect the samples
The blood samples grant more life and can also be taken from dead fellow players
Players are extraordinarily athletic and can move in parkour style
The focus is on melee weapons
If enough samples are collected, a rescue helicopter arrives that only one player can board
When is Bad Blood coming? Dying Light: Bad Blood will enter Early Access on Steam in September 2018. A release for PS4 and Xbox One is also planned for an undetermined time.

What happens to The Division Part 1 when Ubisoft releases The Division 2 next year? Here, developer Massive gives fans of the first part a little hope.
With The Division 2, Ubisoft wants to continue the story and move the setting from New York to Washington. Many fans are already looking forward to The Division 2, but they are also wondering what will happen to the predecessor.
The Division 1 and 2 could run in parallel
Fans fear the end of The Division: When a successor to an online game is released, it is often assumed that the predecessor will be discontinued. Because usually the games cannibalize each other.
The successor attracts players with better graphics, new gameplay, more features, and a continuation of the story. They then leave the predecessor, which eventually has so few players that it is no longer worthwhile for the developer to maintain the servers.
Or at least support for Part 1 will be discontinued – like with Destiny 1.
The Division doesn’t necessarily have to be discontinued: Ubisoft has now responded to this issue.
David Polfeldt, Managing Director at Massive Entertainment, explains that he is very curious to see how The Division runs when the successor is released on March 15, 2019. “I think that The Division 1 should continue and Part 2 represents an alternative path for players. I don’t know what will happen, but we are very open to this thought.”
Ubisoft wants Massive to continue supporting The Division 1: Ubisoft, the publisher of the game, states that the successor does not have to mean the end of The Division. Massive will continue to support the game in the long term. It seems that The Division 1 and 2 will coexist for at least a certain amount of time.
Fans do not need to fear that the servers of the predecessor will be shut down immediately upon the release of The Division 2.
However, it can be doubted whether substantial patches and updates for The Division 1 will actually appear.
Square Enix trademarks the term “Shadowbringers.” It is speculated that this could be the name of the next expansion for Final Fantasy XIV.
In connection with the current anniversary event, the FFXIV community is hotly debating what the next expansion of the MMORPG will bring. Fans dissect every hint and new piece of information. They hope to learn what jobs or story twists could be coming next.
The official announcement of the next FFXIV expansion is expected in November at the Fan Fest in Las Vegas, as was the case with Heavensward and Stormblood.
However, there are several reasons to believe that the new trademarked name “Shadowbringers” thematically fits the next expansion of Final Fantasy XIV.
The hints are piling up
The story of FFXIV takes a dark turn in Patch 4.3:
In the latest content patch of Final Fantasy XIV, players experienced several surprises. A long-since presumed dead and forgotten NPC reappeared and referred to himself as “Shadowhunter.” A name that originated from the fact that he had successfully managed to kill several Ascians for good. As proof, their masks were attached to his belt.
The storyline is now seemingly finally turning toward the main antagonists of Final Fantasy XIV, the Ascians. Since the main objectives of the Ascians are the resurrection of the dark deity Zodiark and the spread of darkness in the world, it is not far-fetched to think that they could be referred to as “Shadowbringers.”
The anniversary event provides hints to further story development:
During the annual anniversary event, an NPC gives hints about how the story of the game could continue. The NPC represents Naoki Yoshida, the head of Final Fantasy XIV.
These hints always come in the form of a short poem and are often ambiguous. This year, however, the message reads quite ominously:
Even in the English version, it is mentioned that due to the actions of the Warrior of Light, events in FFXIV could soon worsen. The Japanese version is even more explicit, stating that the Hero of Light will plunge the world into darkness after the “defeat of Stormblood.
The timing is right:
The securing of trademark rights for the expansions “Heavensward” and “Stormblood” occurred around the same time in 2014 and 2016 as the trademark for “Shadowbringers” is now.
It is still early for speculation, as the expansion itself is not expected to be officially announced until Fan Fest in Las Vegas in November. However, the name “Shadowbringers” would fit well with the course of the story of FFXIV and the clues left behind.
Meanwhile, the crossover between Final Fantasy XIV and Monster Hunter: World is in full swing. Here you can find our guide to the Rathalos fight (hard):
The auction house of World of Warcraft is getting an update. Players will soon be able to offer whole stacks of items instead of individual units.
Those who check the auction house of World of Warcraft and want to buy large quantities of crafting materials should brace themselves for a long “adventure”. Many players list their materials not in stacks but in individual units. Blizzard now aims to counter this and create incentives for players to list items always in stacks.
This is how it looks in the auction house over several dozen pages.
Higher deposit per stack: Blizzard’s solution is to increase the deposit costs in the auction house to 20% of the sale price of a single unit. This would massively increase the deposit costs for individual units.
As a small example:
If a player wants to sell a stack of 200 Tidespray Linen at a price of 10 gold each (so 2000 gold for the entire stack), they will pay an additional deposit of 2 gold (i.e., 20% of 10 gold for a single unit).
If a player wants to sell 200 stacks of one Tidespray Linen for 10 gold, they will pay an additional deposit of 2 gold on each individual stack. For 200 auctions, that would be an additional 400 gold.
In both cases, the gold will be refunded if the auctions are successful – after all, it is just the deposit.
What does Blizzard hope to achieve with this? The developers hope to encourage players to offer larger stacks more frequently and not flood the auction house with “1-item stacks”. This should provide more clarity and less frustration for buyers in the auction house.
The changes will go live with the next server maintenance, which is on Wednesday, August 29, 2018.
A long-term solution is still coming: Blizzard is aware that these measures will only represent a short-term solution. A large part of the players uses addons to manage the auction house because Blizzard’s standard interface is inadequate. A major overhaul is planned in the coming months to bring the auction house up to current standards. However, there is no set date for this yet.
