In Fortnite today, on February 19th, a new update is coming. We summarize what is already known about the patch, even though there are no patch notes yet.Highlight today: The Driftboard is coming.
When is the patch coming? The update should be released today at 2:00 PM German time.
Are the Fortnite servers going down? No, this will be a small update. Today’s patch is the “Content Update” for 7.40. These usually come without server maintenance.
In Fortnite it is like this:
major patches come with downtime. These are the updates that bring balance changes or larger new game content
“Content Updates” to these patches are released. These are often just small changes that bring new modes, a new weapon or something like that.
These two types of patches alternate weekly.
What players can expect today: The big change that is already known: The Driftboard is finally coming.
This was announced by Epic months ago, but only now is it really happening.
It was announced back in December.
The Driftboard will probably only be in the game for a short time. Data miners have already discovered a mode for the Driftboard: There, it is said that players must land near a “red” supply drop, grab a Driftboard and some weapons, and meet up with the team to race towards opponents and eliminate them.
It seems that players can shoot from the Driftboard – this would be the beginning of “mounted combat in Fortnite.”
Today, four more “Extension Challenges” should go live. One of them will probably get players on the Driftboard.
We will keep you updated at MeinMMO when the patch comes, and show you the full patch notes in Fortnite. Maybe there will also be some balance changes.
Just recently, a trick circulated that allowed players to obtain top items in Anthem without having to go through the intended grind. That’s now over!
This is how the grind spiral is supposed to work in Anthem: Anthem offers a total of 6 difficulty levels, three of which will only be unlocked once players reach the maximum level. These three Grandmaster levels are reserved for the endgame.
This is how players “tricked” the grind in Anthem: Instead of farming the available Contracts or Strongholds in the game, freelancers simply started a free play on the highest difficulty level and gathered chests.
The advantage? You can safely avoid the few enemies and just open chests that are scattered throughout the world. This way, players have been able to collect masterworks and even legendary gear in a short amount of time. However, BioWare only took a few hours to respond.
This is how BioWare closed the farming method: As Mike Gamble, Lead Producer at BioWare, announced via Twitter, the chances of finding rare equipment in chests have been significantly reduced.
This only applies to chests that can be found scattered throughout the world. Excluded are reward chests from world events. Those can still contain rare items.
Players are pleased with the change, but also express criticism: The change is mostly received positively in the communities. After all, the farming method provided a significant shortcut to the general Anthem experience.
However, many players have often complained that the other loot, especially in free play, is scarce. Particularly, the world events and titans drop too little good loot. Voices are already increasing among those who simply overlook the titans as they are not worth the effort.
The reduction of the chance for rare items is therefore a sensible step, but now the loot quality of the activities in free play needs to be improved.
What do you think? Have you tried the trick? What do you think of BioWare’s change?
In the shooter Anthem , there is a bug that throws players into missions far beyond their weight class through Quickplay. A “Level 3 player” was reportedly thrown into the final mission. There is a risk of spoilers.
This is the problem: Apparently, Anthem’s matchmaking is causing issues. A clip of an incident is circulating online, where a “Level 3” player was thrown into the last mission of Anthem.
The Level 3 player was assigned to a team of veterans as a “substitute” after another player apparently left the mission.
The streamer Brandon “Seagull” Larned captured the incident, posted it on Twitch, and spread it via Twitter.

The experienced players in the mission advised the newcomer to leave the game immediately to avoid spoilers.
As indicated in Seagull’s tweet, the Level 3 player did just that. However, he was replaced five minutes later by a Level 2 player.
This is what BioWare says: Producer Ben Irving was asked why Quickplay missions are not restricted to those that a player has already completed. This could easily lead to being “spoiled”.
Irving replied that this is a bug.

What other issues are there? Anthem’s Quickplay seems to be experiencing some problems at the moment. Apparently, the level display is not always reliable. It is reported that a player at level 16 was suddenly displayed as a level 9 player.
This is Seagull’s advice: The streamer Seagull bluntly advises: “Don’t use Quickplay if you’re new to Anthem. It can throw you into the final mission if someone is missing and spoil you.”
Perhaps this is one of the bugs that will be fixed in the Day-One Patch of Anthem. Currently, the game is not officially released yet; only owners of “Origin Access Premier” can play it now.
In Anthem , a trick is causing a stir that helps players acquire some of the best items in the game without much hassle.Twitch streamers are said to be currently employing the trick.
What is this trick? Players at level 30 can set the difficulty to “Grandmaster 3” and then fly through the “Free Play” mode of Anthem to open chests and get top items.
This is reported by YouTuber “Aztecross Gaming” in a video. Once you make a rotation through the chests, you have a high probability of getting a masterpiece or even a legendary item.

This is the special part: With this “trick”, players bypass the grind through the missions.
It was generally assumed that players would have to gradually play their way up in Anthem and battle through missions, to slowly advance from “Grand Master 1” to the higher levels. Because without the “good items” that you earn in Grand Master 1, it would be practically impossible to succeed in missions for Grand Master 2.
Enemies deal much more damage and have much higher health at these higher levels. It is quite a hassle to complete missions at this difficulty level.
However, with the chest trick, players can fly a route through the open world with little enemy contact and fill their pockets.
Is this being used? As reported by PcGamer , this method is currently being used by various streamers on Twitch to gear up with top gear without completing difficult missions.
The streamer known from Destiny 2, xGladd and his team are doing it on Twitch. They started a Free Play, flew the same route from one chest to another, completed the Free Play, and then started again.
Some members of the team have already received masterpiece items.
YouTuber raises serious allegations
What is the problem? As YouTuber Azteccros Gaming points out, this method makes the “hard grind” unnecessary for leveling up past Grandmaster 1 and 2 and acquiring better items.
This is the same situation that occurred at the beginning of Destiny 2, where “Public Events” were so lucrative that there was no reason to play anything else.
The loot system is ruined, according to Aztecross Gaming, who ends his video with a passionate speech. In his view, the “good gear” should only be obtained by killing monsters and not by opening chests.
Whether Bioware intended this tactic seems questionable at the moment.

Which challenges in Season 8 of Fortnite are active is still unknown. A leak now shows what changes to expect on the map.
What leaks are there? Players are eagerly waiting for the start of Season 8 in Fortnite. The site GamingIntel claims to have learned about the first information.
They say that the start screen for Season 8 was online for about half a minute. From this, we now have the following text:
Stay steadfast!
Season 8 begins with a devastating earthquake that tears the island apart. Discover what has changed in places like Tilted Towers and Polar Peak, and venture underground into newly created areas.
Check out the Battle Pass and customize XP with unlockable lobby backgrounds as you unlock new styles for all six customizable skins.
Experience the official launch of Fortnite Creative and utilize all new prefab buildings, devices, and weapons on your islands in Save the World. Fight against the storm with a completely new, revamped hero system.
The Fortnite Season 8 Battle Pass, 100 levels, over 100 new rewards. Now available in-game for 950 V-Bucks.
Map changes in Season 8? The leak indicates that there will be changes at Tilted Towers and Polar Peak. It is also exciting that new underground areas are expected to emerge. So it might be possible to fight below the map.
The claim that Tilted Towers will be demolished has been made several times in leaks, but it has not come true so far. Just like with the comet.
At one point it hit a building that was destroyed, endlessly repaired, and then demolished again. Will more be affected in Season 8?
Just leaks, not confirmed: Keep in mind that these leaks are not officially confirmed. It is quite possible that Epic Games has something entirely different planned for Season 8 in Fortnite. Currently, earthquakes are raging on the map.
When does Season 7 end in Fortnite? According to Epic Games, the season is supposed to end on February 28 along with the Extension Challenges.
With the Extension Challenges, you can unlock the Battle Pass for Season 8 for free in Fortnite:
While many event Pokémon were previously found, the spawn rate on this day was even higher. There were significantly more Quiekel to catch than event Pokémon during past Community Days. Accordingly, many players also reported higher shiny yields.
This is how the Community Day went in February
Players were excited: Never before had so many event Pokémon been roaming around as on this Community Day. On Reddit, many players celebrated this event.
So “ClearestBlueArticuno” writes about the event: “Yes, I found an unbelievable number of Quiekel. My entire nearby list was full of them! It was a great Community Day.”
Another player writes: “I was in a park that is currently an Eevee nest and I didn’t see a single Eevee. I also didn’t see any pink spawns. It seems like they replaced event and nest spawns with CD spawns, just like they should have done from the start. Well done, Niantic!”
This is behind the changes: Players repeatedly complained about past Community Days that while the event Pokémon was increased, it was still not found everywhere. This disturbed many trainers.
Niantic responded to this criticism and noticeably increased the spawn rate. As a result, there are also more shinies for the players. If more possible shinies are caught, then overall, more dazzling Pokémon will appear.
Was this intentional? Whether this step was indeed deliberate or just a mistake remains to be seen. The feedback on this change is definitely amazing. Niantic would anger many players again if they were to reduce the spawns now.
We will probably have to wait until the Community Day in March to find out if this change was indeed intended. There is still no exact date for this event.
In Pokémon GO, some moves now improve the status values:
Why can’t you ping as cool in Overwatch as in Apex Legends? Game Director Jeff Kaplan provides the reasoning.
Apex Legends has taken the gaming scene by storm. The cool battle royale shooter has captivated millions of players. This also affects other games. Fans continuously suggest that certain aspects of Apex should simply be adopted into other games. This led to a discussion in Overwatch about “pings,” which was even addressed by Game Director Jeff Kaplan.
What is pinging in Apex? In Apex Legends, players can set “pings.” They look at a target point, quickly open a menu, and give a command. This way, locations can be marked with commands for teammates, such as “Someone was here,” “Loot this area,” or “Attack from here.” This allows for quick and clear instructions to a team and facilitates communication without many words. The system is widely praised.
Overwatch has experimented with it: Kaplan also praises Apex Legends’ system and admits that in the early days of Overwatch, they experimented with a similar system inspired by MOBAs like League of Legends. However, there were two good reasons ultimately against the introduction of such a system.
Too much spam from pings: With a team size of 6 players, the system was perceived as too annoying and too much “spam.” As long as only a few players used the pings, it was tolerable, but with 6 different ping sources per team, the system confuses more than it helps.
“Ping.”
Overwatch is too small: Most locations in Overwatch are simply too small. Even the largest distances in Overwatch that can be overviewed are between 30 and 45 meters, while most are rather between 10 and 30 meters. In such confined spaces, it is difficult to set accurate pings or mark things that are far away.
Pinging could still come to Overwatch: At the end of his statement, Kaplan explained that it would “certainly be fun to revisit the system and see if we could implement it after all.” They are always looking for improvements for the communication wheel and are open to feedback and suggestions.
Would you like a ping system in Overwatch? Or does it not fit the number of players and the size of the maps?

The former Counter-Strike professional Shroud has shown once again how good he really is in Apex Legends. The Twitch star single-handedly took down an entire squad – with the help of a door.
The well-known streamer Shroud eliminated an enemy squad by himself in a match, using a door. He didn’t even take advantage of the trick of Legend Wraith, but simply played skillfully.
Shroud shows how to eliminate a squad with a door
This is how Shroud did it: While his teammates were still gearing up in the bunker, Shroud noticed incoming enemies. To allow his two partners to loot further, he faced the three enemies alone, armed with an R-99 and an EVA-8.
The enemy squad quickly realized he was alone and decided to attack him full on. Shroud retreated only a short distance into the bunker to shoot from the cover of a door frame.
He quickly took down one enemy before the others became more aggressive. Shroud then utilized the door, which he closed and blocked with his own body to provide himself cover.
By quickly opening, firing, and closing the doors, he finally took out the entire squad.

Why did this work? Doors in Apex Legends always open in the direction you’re looking. If an enemy player is standing in that direction or an object like a death box is blocking the door, it cannot be opened normally.
This technique has also been used by another player, who blocked two doors at the same position as Shroud with Caustic’s gas barrels and eliminated an entire team with gas.
Many players do not know or forget that doors can be kicked in with a melee attack. While it takes some time, it certainly grants access. Since the enemy squad apparently didn’t know this, Shroud was able to take them all out.
At first glance, Monster Hunter World and Anthem seem to have little in common. However, upon closer examination, our author Leya finds that there are parallels that may appeal to fans of both games.
I know. Comparing these two games may sound bold at first. When I first made this comparison in the editorial office, it was laughed at. It’s not surprising, because:
In Anthem, we find ourselves in a futuristic dystopia where we, as mercenaries, fight with awesome battle suits against fascist space Nazis. There are machine guns, grenades, and laser weapons.
In Monster Hunter World, we take on the role of a hunter who hunts gigantic beasts like the dinosaur-like Anjanath to keep the ecosystem in balance. The world is fantastic and appears almost prehistoric. Here, we fight with swords, hammers, and bows.
Still, I felt a certain feeling while watching the first gameplay of Anthem. That feeling has formed into a definite image in my mind:
Anthem and Monster Hunter World are related.
Monster Hunter World belongs more to the fantasy genre.
The worlds are mystical with a strong ecosystem
For the first time, I thought of the comparison between Monster Hunter World and Anthem when I saw the game world of Anthem and moved around in it.
Both worlds play with their ecosystems and influence gameplay:
The ancient forest in Monster Hunter World strongly resembles the game world of Anthem.
The Javelin suits in Anthem are particularly powerful when flying. Therefore, the developers incorporated a few elements that bring players down from the sky. The suits overheat after a while. Water cools the suits down again. If it is raining in the world, the Javelins can stay in the air longer. The same applies to hovering over water or along a waterfall.

For a long time, it was assumed that Anthem would be a loot shooter like Destiny 2 or Warframe. Interestingly, BioWare itself classifies Anthem as an action RPG. This is exactly the same designation that Capcom uses for Monster Hunter World.
Neither is a classic RPG, but they want to build their foundation here.
In both games, character development plays a central role: Equipment and levels need to be improved for new challenges.
In Monster Hunter World, there is the Hunter rank, through which players face stronger monsters. The monsters then gain new levels that give them more health, new moves, and more damage.
This also creates a loot spiral that provides long-term motivation in both titles. The thrill of obtaining and crafting new equipment motivates players to take down larger foes.
In Anthem, players take on the role of a pilot controlling the Javelin.
The focus is on co-op, not PvP
The entire Monster Hunter franchise has always been a pure co-op experience. A version where players compete against each other will probably never be found in a Monster Hunter game.
Both titles can be played solo in theory but are the most fun in a group.
In Anthem, group play is at the forefront.
Everything is exaggerated and powerful
Both games fulfill the fantasy of being a powerful hero:
In Anthem, the idea of the superhero has been the basis for the game from the very beginning. That’s why the Javelins can fly. The developers wanted everything to be exaggerated and powerful. When stomping around with the large, heavy Colossus, one can feel its massive strength. The Interceptor runs at a speed akin to the Flash.
In Anthem, elemental attacks rain down from above.
In Monster Hunter World, the superhero fantasy is not central. Nevertheless, the hunters are celebrated as heroes and are stronger than ordinary humans. They wear outrageously heavy armor and carry ridiculously large weapons.
Both games convey a similar feeling here.
The great sword from Monster Hunter World.
The setting is more similar than you think
As mentioned at the beginning of the article, the settings are actually fundamentally different. But in a way, they are not.
In both games, we find ourselves in a delimited area where we protect the humans from monsters coming from outside. In Anthem, there is Fort Tarsis and in Monster Hunter World, there is Astera.
Those who move outside the city face danger. In Monster Hunter World, there is no complex enemy, like the Dominion in Anthem. Here, it’s simply monsters that disrupt the ecosystem.
Nevertheless, we essentially do the same thing: We go out as heroes into the dangerous world beyond the walls and complete quests. In doing so, we protect our city from monsters.
In Fort Tarsis, the people live whom players protect as freelancers.
Here are the biggest differences
Of course, Monster Hunter World and Anthem also have significant differences. Otherwise, they wouldn’t be different games.
Enemy mechanics: Monster Hunter World has complex enemy mechanics, where each monster resembles a raid boss. Players must learn these patterns to defeat them. The AI in Anthem often comes off as rather simplistic.
Complexity of the story: Anthem has a much more intense story. In Monster Hunter World, the story is only a side note. Cutscenes only serve to introduce a new monster. In Anthem, there is a complete storyline here.
Live Service: Monster Hunter World is not classified as a “Games-as-a-Service” game. It is not meant to be expanded and run for years. Eventually, a new main entry will come. Anthem, on the other hand, is intended to be developed for many years and to continue telling the story of Anthem like a Netflix series.
If you like Monster Hunter World, you might enjoy Anthem:
the mysterious and breathtaking game world with great attention to detail
the focus on a pure co-op experience where the team must be coordinated
the grind for increasingly powerful equipment to take down stronger enemies
the development of your character and their builds
a setting where you are the great protector of your city and keep the monsters outside
If you like Monster Hunter World, you might find Anthem bothersome:
the rigid AI of the enemies. In Monster Hunter World, it’s the well-staged and intelligent monster fights that define the game.
What do you think of this theory? Can we compare Anthem and Monster Hunter World?
Fans of Apex Legends wish for the appearance of a famous robot from Hollywood in the game. That wish might even come true, as both the CEO of Respawn and the director of the film are interested.
It’s about the 2015 movie “Chappie,” in which police robots ensure order in the South African city of Johannesburg and fight high crime rates.
One of these robots is decommissioned and saved from the junk press by an inventor, gains its own consciousness, and becomes “Chappie.” According to many fans, the dystopian sci-fi film fits very well into the setting of Apex Legends.

Where does the wish come from? The film “Chappie” was generally very popular. The character Chappie himself is apparently also popular in the Apex Legends community.
Shortly after the launch of Apex Legends, some users demanded on reddit Chappie as a skin for Pathfinder. Pathfinder is one of the legends of Apex Legends, a cheerful robot that works with grappling hooks and ziplines to support his team.
There is apparently a strong desire to play as Chappie in Apex Legends in some way or at least to implement him.
How the bosses and the community react: The discussion has also continued on Twitter. Some users are also discussing Chappie and Apex Legends here. Eventually, even the film’s director, Neill Blomkamp, got involved.
His simple
response to the demand:
Many people ask me that. I’m in.
The response has already triggered excitement among many players, which only intensified when the CEO of Respawn, the studio behind Apex Legends, also responded:
However, the rights to Chappie are not only with Blomkamp. As the US site Polygon reports, three different companies were involved in the production of the film. It is therefore difficult to say who holds which rights and who would receive which shares.
What do you think of the idea? Do you want to see Chappie as a character or as a skin?
A new character has already been leaked, it seems, but it is not Chappie:
Over the weekend, a Fortnite event took place in England. Thousands of parents were there with their children and are shocked by what was offered to them.
The Fortnite event took place at the Norfolk Showground in England last weekend, on February 16 and 17. However, it wasn’t on PCs but in real life – outside. The event was billed by the organizers as “the ultimate Battle Royale!”
It was organized by a company called Exciting Events. Epic Games, the developers of Fortnite, had nothing to do with the event.
About 3000 children showed up. The visitors are giving catastrophic reviews, many wanted their money back.
What went wrong at the event? Tickets for the live event cost between about €14 and €23. For that, visitors were offered a total of only 4 go-karts, a climbing wall, a archery area, and a “cave experience,” which according to a visitor was “a trailer no bigger than a car, with a tunnel.”
Despite the high number of visitors, the archery area was only designed for a maximum of 4 children at the same time. Only 3 children could fit on the climbing wall at once, reports The Guardian.
Additionally, there was a VR station for a maximum of one player at a time.
Visitors could even play Fortnite on PCs there, which according to reports cost money after they had paid for entry to the event and likely had to wait for several hours.
What does the organizer say about the criticism? Shaun Lord, owner of Exciting Events, says that the long wait times occurred because eight of his 19 employees were not there on Saturday. He says that he refunded everyone who requested it. However, he did not say how many people wanted their money back. They take care of each person individually, it is stated.
Visitor Comments – “It was bad, an absolute disaster”
On the event’s Facebook page, visitors show their frustration. The event page is no longer accessible now.
This event was an absolute disgrace and embarrassing, very poor and in no way what was advertised. My son and my friend were so disappointed and left after less than an hour.
My son was furious when we had to queue again to get a refund for the wristband. The wristband was of no use for the value we paid. 2 activities with a waiting time of 50 minutes each. You should be ashamed. This is not a Fortnite event. It was just used to lure people in.
It was terrible, what an absolute disaster … not as advertised! We went for the early bird option, but some things were not even prepared. The best part of the event was the burger I had. My son wanted to leave. And as for the organizer saying it went well: What an absolute joke.
It is terrible. I have a very disappointed 9-year-old. You should be ashamed.
With this event, having Fortnite in the real world probably had more success:
In Anthem the Ranger is the face of the game for a reason. You will learn how to best utilize the abilities of the all-rounder and what to watch out for in this guide.
The Ranger is called the jack of all trades among the Javelins, and as a Ranger pilot, you must be prepared for all situations.
For this Javelin, the motto is: “Easy to learn, but hard to master.”
Overview
Advantages
Disadvantages
Most balanced Javelin
Little specialization possible
Agile in the air and on the ground
Interceptor is significantly more agile
Solid shield and health
Never as stable as a Colossus
Close combat prepares combos
Does less baseline damage
Ideal for:
Beginners who want to familiarize themselves with the controls
Players who do not like to force themselves into a specific role
Players who want to experiment with various build possibilities
Players who want to stay flexible
This is what makes the Ranger special: The futuristic super soldier embodies the perfect balance of attack and defense. The Ranger is the most versatile Javelin, which is also reflected in its abilities.
It also has the ability to perform a double jump and can dash in one direction at regular intervals.
What are the Ranger’s abilities? The Ranger has a diverse arsenal of various grenades. From regular fragmentation grenades to freezing frost grenades, there is something for everyone.
Furthermore, it has a launcher on its wrist from which it can fire smaller projectiles such as guided missiles, poison arrows, or energy beams.
Its support ability generates a spherical field. Depending on the choice, this ability either provides protective or offensive bonuses for each team member inside it.
Finally, the Ranger also has an ultimate ability, the “Multiple Target Missile Barrage”. In this ability, the Ranger fires a salve of micro-missiles that lock onto multiple targets in advance and then deal high damage to them.
Build Tip for the Ranger in Anthem
The Ranger has a variety of good abilities that can be combined, and we have created a “build” for you to efficiently level up at the beginning of the game.
This is the build:
Grenade: Frost Grenade (Primer)
Launcher: Guided Missile (Detonator)
Support System: Collecting Area
What can this build do? With this configuration, you should be able to progress smoothly. The Frost Grenade does not deal high damage, but it freezes affected enemies. This gives you enough time to clean up the enemies with your weapons or your guided missile. The collecting area assists you with that.
The guided missile is a good choice because its cooldown is relatively low, allowing you to use it often. Especially at the beginning, when you have to get used to the controls, this ability provides good training to understand the Ranger and learn the combo system.
This is how you play the all-rounder: The Ranger is all about adaptation. As a Ranger pilot, you need to understand what is happening on the battlefield and where. Depending on the situation, you either support your teammates or clear the way yourself.
Unlike the other Javelins, you do not have a specific playstyle you must adhere to. The Interceptor should always stay close to its enemies, while the Storm does the opposite. As a Ranger, however, you should always keep an eye on your team and adapt to the circumstances depending on the battlefield situation.
What role does the Ranger have in the team? The focus of the Ranger is to recognize where the best combo opportunities are. Knowing which enemies should be prioritized and which combos to use is one of the main tasks of a good Ranger pilot.
Assuming your teammate plays a Storm Javelin, who prepares enemies with its “Primer abilities” for combos. It rains regular area damage from above, affecting many enemies with a status effect and thus making them available for combo attacks.
Your task as a Ranger is to keep track of where this area damage is currently hitting and to respond with a well-placed “Detonator ability”.
This is how combos work: By successfully combining a Primer ability and a Detonator ability, you achieve increased combo damage and can wipe out entire groups of enemies with just one blow.
Since battles in Anthem can often be a bit chaotic, you should inform your teammates when a more important target appears and point out to them to redirect their attacks to it.
If the roles are reversed, you should prioritize the right targets and explain to your team where they can best trigger their combos.
Depending on your build specialization, you should trigger combos or prepare them for your team.
How do I play the Ranger solo? If you are on your own, you need to understand and learn the cooldowns of your abilities. Once you have internalized your “cooldowns”, you can adapt much better in combat situations without constantly needing to pay attention to what is currently available and what is not.
Use the pauses during cooldowns to become mobile and dodge enemies. Use your dash and double jump to reposition yourself to better flank enemies.
In Anthem, each Javelin can be equipped with various modifications and abilities. Which ones you choose is up to you. You can distinguish between Primers, Detonators, and neutral abilities.
Components, on the other hand, offer passive bonuses and are not manually activatable effects.
What should you pay attention to? Before you customize your Javelin’s equipment, you should consider what type of expedition you are starting and how many members your squad consists of. The effectiveness of a Ranger depends heavily on its build and the corresponding team composition.
If you are playing alone, it is advisable to equip at least one Primer ability in one of the offensive slots. If you have a balanced team, you can equip a Detonator ability in each slot to maximize your damage output.
Grenades
Which grenades are particularly good? In the demo, the “Inferno Grenade” proved to be very effective against single enemy groups.
This grenade applies a fire status effect to all affected enemies and also causes damage over time. These enemies are thus primed, i.e. affected by a status effect.
For this reason, the Inferno Grenade pairs particularly well with a Colossus, as it can detonate the burning enemy group with its heavy weaponry and multiply the damage.
Alternatively, you can use the “Fragmentation Grenade” to deal massive damage.
What can the Fragmentation Grenade do? Since this grenade is a Detonator ability, it is significantly more effective when it hits enemies that have already been affected by a status effect such as frost or acid.
Launchers
Which launcher should one use? This slot should always match the choice of the grenade. If you use the Fragmentation Grenade, it is advisable to use a Primer ability, such as the “Poison Arrows”.
What do Poison Arrows do? With the Poison Arrows, you can target a single enemy and then apply an acid status effect to it.
Acid is particularly effective against armor and increases incoming weapon damage as long as the status effect is active. Since this ability is a Primer, it can be combined with a Fragmentation Grenade or a “Blast Grenade” to deal devastating damage to a single target.
If, however, you have equipped a Primer ability in the grenade slot, you can also use the “Pulse Explosion”.
How to use the Pulse Explosion? This ability is a chargeable energy beam that can hit enemy weak points. This allows you to deal critical damage to an enemy or boss.
The Pulse Explosion pairs very well with the “Frost Grenade”, which freezes enemies and immobilizes them. This allows you to aim the energy beam precisely at an enemy’s weak point and thus inflict high critical damage.
Neutral Attacks
What are neutral attacks? Abilities like the “Spark Beam” are neither Primers nor Detonators. However, they have higher base damage and are not reliant on combos.
This is what the Spark Beam does: The Spark Beam fires a burning beam of energy that continuously deals damage.
When should you use the Spark Beam? Enemies with an active shield are resistant to Primer and Detonator abilities. However, thanks to the extra damage from the Spark Beam, these enemies can be efficiently eliminated without much preparation.
Furthermore, the Spark Beam is currently the only ability that can fully penetrate shields.
Support Systems
What support systems are available? Depending on the build, an offensive or defensive support ability can be selected. You can choose between the “Bulwark Point” and the “Collecting Area”.
This is what the Bulwark Point does: The Ranger generates a blue field that deflects bullets from enemies for a while.
This ability functions as temporary protection and can be used in critical situations to recharge a Javelin’s shields without having to leave the combat area. Additionally, it is the optimal ability to revive a fallen teammate with little risk.
With this ability, you should pay close attention to where you can best place it. If a allied Storm, for example, is having trouble finding adequate protection in the air, you can fly up to him and support him with the Bulwark Point.
This is what the Collecting Area does: In this case, an orange sphere is generated that increases all weapon damage from all team members within the effective range by 20%.
This ability is particularly useful for inflicting targeted damage against stronger enemies or bosses. Therefore, the Collecting Area is highly recommended for difficult expeditions since it increases your team’s damage output in the long term.
When using the Collecting Area, make sure to use the ability as close to your teammates as possible, and do not create a dome for yourself alone at the other end of the battlefield.
Melee Ability
What makes the Ranger’s melee attack so special? The “Shock Baton” of the Ranger is the only melee ability of the four Javelins that is a Primer.
What does the Shock Baton do? With this attack, you can apply an electrical status effect to an enemy, thus preparing it for combos.
Moreover, the electrical status effect can jump to individual nearby enemies. While your other abilities are recharging, you can consistently prime your enemies with the Shock Baton and prioritize important single targets for your team.
This attack can also be activated in the air, allowing skilled Ranger pilots to dive directly onto an enemy.
Ultimate Ability
When do I use the ultimate ability? The Ranger’s ultimate is a Detonator ability. Therefore, it should ideally be used on targets that have previously been affected by a status effect.
During a boss fight, it should be fired as quickly as possible to activate it as frequently as possible within a fight.
If you hesitate for too long, you may waste potential ultimate activations.
This ability can also be used while flying, allowing the Ranger to remain mobile during its ultimate.
How do I build up the ultimate ability? Your ability bar charges up with successful combos. However, only combos that you detonate yourself count, not detonations from other players.
Passive Ability
This passive ability belongs to the Ranger: This Javelin deals extra damage with successful combos against single targets.
Since this passive ability integrates excellently into its existing arsenal, it allows the Ranger to deal even more burst damage through successful detonations.
This supports eager solo players against tough single targets and increases your overall damage in a group.
What distinguishes the other Javelins? The four Javelins differ mainly in their contrasting gameplay possibilities. The bulky Colossus can carry heavy weapons, while the mage-like Storm can stay in the air significantly longer.
When do I unlock the other Javelins? You will initially start your journey with a stripped-down version of the Ranger. After the tutorial, as soon as you reach pilot level 2, you can choose your preferred Javelin from the four classes.
You unlock the other Javelins at pilot levels 8, 16, and 26.

The Valentine’s Day event in Destiny 2 is almost over, and many fans are disappointed. Even the top reward for the event isn’t really impressive and is only somewhat useful.
Until the Weekly Reset on February 19, the Crimson Week is still ongoing, the second to last event in the current Season 5. However, the week-long celebrations for Valentine’s Day are not well received by many fans. Especially the rewards leave a lot to be desired in the eyes of numerous Guardians.
That’s why the event is disappointing: Compared to the Festival of the Lost and the Dawning event, the Crimson Week seems almost boring and uninspired to many fans and offers few reasons to participate – especially for veterans.
This Valentine’s Day event is basically all about a limited-time PvP playlist. Admittedly, this can be quite fun, but besides that, there is almost nothing that makes the event attractive.
Those hoping for fresh or special features like the Haunted Forest or cookie baking from previous holiday events will be disappointed here. Besides some new bounties, there are no innovations.
Especially players who are already familiar with the Valentine’s Day event from last year have hardly any reasons to play this time.
Bungie wasn’t particularly creative with the rewards either: You can earn all the event-specific items from last year. Additionally, there is a new exotic ghost shell and an event bow that doesn’t really impress.
The event loot from last year
Who is the Crimson Week worth it for? Overall, the event is only worth it for Guardians who
really enjoy the Crimson Doubles mode and want to push their Valor rank
missed the event and thus the rewards last year
have not yet reached the power level cap of 650 and still need to level up their character
What the event bow offers for Crimson Week: For many Guardians, the most attractive reward of the event is the bow “The Oath”. However, if you’re not a true bow enthusiast, it is basically only worth it for one reason – for leveling.
The bow comes for all owners of Forsaken at power level 650 and as a masterwork of level 10. So if you’re still chasing the current level cap, this bow can prove to be extremely valuable.
Because it gives you a significant boost, allowing you to quickly catch up several power levels. Powerful rewards from regular sources will subsequently be higher, and you’ll reach 650 faster.
Otherwise, the bow is rather average as a weapon. It has “Quickdraw,” which is generally a strong perk. Because Quickdraw increases stability and reload speed after rapidly succeeding hits. However, this perk is less noticeable on bows compared to, for example, hand cannons.
The second important perk “Shooter’s Tempo” also does not provide any significant reduction in draw time, as experts discovered in tests.
There are indeed bow enthusiasts who swear by bows with lightweight frames in PvP, and “The Oath” is likely to be one of the best, if not the best bow for the Crucible in this archetype. A critical and a body shot are enough to take down a Guardian.
However, this bow is currently still not a top choice – neither in PvE nor in PvP. The competition from hand cannons and pulse rifles is just too strong. Hardly anyone can truly recommend “The Oath” at the moment and considers the weapon rather bad or average.

Many players are currently stuck on a quest in Anthem, where they are supposed to find 4 tombs. This highlights some of the weaknesses in Anthem: For example, much is under-explained. Hardly anyone knows what “kill streaks” actually are.
This quest drives players crazy: The so-called “Tomb Quest” (the search for 4 tombs) appears relatively early in Anthem, around level 10.
The quest differs significantly from the usual story quests in Anthem, where players are clearly guided.
Players must open 4 graves in Anthem’s “Free Play”, meaning they are navigating the open world without much explanation.
The freelancers must earn access to each grave by completing challenges that mainly consist of grind tasks like “kill 50 enemies in melee combat.”
In total, there are 15 “grind milestones” to reach. Once these milestones are achieved, that’s it. There’s no big fight afterwards.
What players need to do in the quest: As detailed by Forbes, several hours of grind work are necessary to complete the quest:
Tomb of Artinia: 5 World Events, 30 weapon kills, 15 weak point kills, 9 elite kills
What are kill streaks and what do you need to collect?
Here are the problems: There are a number of difficulties with this quest:
“Chests” are currently bugged and only count when you open them yourself. This is supposed to be fixed in a patch, so that those opened by other players in the group are also counted.
Then, “kill streaks” are hard to understand. It is unclear what counts as a “kill streak” in Anthem. It means that you need to complete 8 kills, and there can be no more than 10 seconds between kills.
Also, what “collectibles” are is not explained by the game itself. They can be found randomly in the open world.
Here’s how fans are reacting: Currently, there is a lot of frustration surrounding this horror quest (via reddit). It is perceived as a “hurdle” that makes it difficult for many to access the game further. It’s particularly unfortunate that it falls right at the end of the 10-hour “trial period” for many players who crash against it.
There is a lot of criticism. The quest is so unpopular that players even curse the entire free play of Anthem.
One can be curious whether and when BioWare will address this.
The world record for the most kills in a match of Apex Legends has been broken. The streamer MrSimpleOG surpassed the old record of prodigy Dizzy in a match without a pre-made team.
With 34 kills and over 6000 points of damage inflicted, MrSimpleOG now holds the world record for the most kills in a round of Apex Legends. This means he eliminated more than half of all players in the match, as only 60 players are participating.
This is how MrSimpleOG started: MrSimpleOG played alone with two randomly assigned players (“Randoms”). He played the popular healer Lifeline, while his teammates chose the Legends Pathfinder and Wraith.
He landed with his team in the south of Skull Town, a popular looting spot. Here, there are many houses, quite good items, and a lot to find.
This is how MrSimpleOG played: After the skirmishes in Skull Town, MrSimpleOG emerges from the battle with twelve kills. That means he has already taken down four full squads by himself. However, he and his remaining partner lost their third man, Pathfinder.
With his living teammate, he communicated actively via pings and voice chat on the way to the new record. He stayed with the remaining Wraith until the end.
Notable in his gameplay is that MrSimpleOG plays very aggressively. He seeks the fight and actively looks for opponents to eliminate. This active gameplay is generally more promising in Apex Legends than “camping” in many other BR shooters.
Even among the last remaining teams, he looks for opponents instead of hiding, being driven by his urge for a new personal kill record.
You can watch the entire round of about 23 minutes in the video.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qqC2S0S0kGw
Who is MrSimpleOG? The streamer is still relatively unknown. According to SullyGnome, a website with Twitch statistics, MrSimpleOG had a viewer record of twelve viewers simultaneously so far.
After his new world record in Apex Legends, that should change now. The streamer Dizzy also saw a massive increase in viewers due to his record. His viewers increased from about 1,000 – 3,000 initially to 18,000 and sometimes even over 30,000 viewers.
The players of the Horde don’t care much for loyalty. At least they betray one of their leaders in Patch 8.1.5 of World of Warcraft.
The Horde is currently an exciting topic in World of Warcraft. More and more disputes and conflicts are brewing within the faction. Players already have the option to support the banished Saurfang or remain loyal to Sylvanas. But in Patch 8.1.5 they have no choice. There, they betray another leader of the Horde – namely the Goblin Jestor Gallywix.
This quest is from Gallywix: The Goblin leader Gallywix wants players to find and kill the Goblin Grizzek, as he might still be alive. Grizzek was an important character in the book “Before the Storm,” who advanced the research on Azerite together with his gnome friend Sapphronetta.
After receiving the task, the Goblin Gazlowe approaches us and asks us not to kill Grizzek if he is still alive. He is a “good guy” and we need engineers like him to advance the research.
Same quest as on the Alliance side: After that, the quest line unfolds identically as on the Alliance side. The player follows “Feathers” through the Tanaris desert and will eventually encounter Saffy and Grizzek. They warn the Goblin Grizzek that Gallywix wants him dead and let the couple escape together into the desert. They promise to stay away from the conflicts to avoid getting caught in the crossfire.
Gallywix is being lied to: Subsequently, players receive the pet “Feathers” and return to Gallywix. They have no choice but to directly lie to the leader of the Goblins:
“He [Grizzek] is nothing more than a smear in the desert. A tiny smear. A series of microscopic little particles, spread over the sand. He is 100% dead. I got this really terrible sunburn when I picked up all his pieces. And when I found them, I blew them up again. Yup. He’s dead. Really, really dead.”
Gallywix seems to be convinced, and Gazlowe thanks him with a “bonus payment” and praises the player.
What do you think about yet another Horde leader being betrayed by the player? Do you play a Goblin and feel bad about this mission? Or should there always be a choice in such missions?
The Division 2 will provide a stable and good online experience at release. The developers have now published an overview on Twitter about what they want to improve compared to the first part. We summarize the information for you.
This is what The Division 2 aims to offer: The Division creators have published an info card via Twitter, which features The Division 2 to optimize players’ online experience.
They aim to effectively combat cheaters, have external servers distributed all over the world, and many other things that should please online players if they work.
Dedicated Servers for Stable Connections
What are dedicated servers? These are simply physical servers that are exclusively used for The Division 2. These servers exist solely for the purpose of keeping the game and all functions running.
For The Division 2, they have server locations in
North America,
Europe,
Asia,
and Oceania
expanded. In total, there are 13 locations worldwide, and they plan to set up servers in South America. This is to ensure sufficient server capacity.
Additionally, there are cloud servers that operate in the background. These are primarily activated when high player numbers flood the servers. They support the physical servers and aim to reduce waiting queues.
Strict Action Against Cheaters and New Protection System
This is how they will protect players from cheaters: With The Division 2, they rely on the Easy Anti-Cheat tool. Cheaters have been and still are one of the biggest problems in The Division 1.
Therefore, they want to take further protective measures with Easy Anti-Cheat. This tool is from the security company Kamu and is used in many other titles, such as For Honor, SMITE, Dead by Daylight, or Fortnite.
According to product description, Easy Anti-Cheat can detect unusually high and perfect kill streaks with an algorithm. It is also apparently capable of monitoring modified game versions. However, Easy Anti-Cheat can also cause problems.
This is how they will deal with cheaters: Additionally, they want to be strict with those identified as guilty. Anyone identified as a cheater should expect a permanent ban.
How was it in Part 1? The Division 1 uses the FairFight tool, a server-side anti-cheat system that operates in real-time. It can store and analyze scenarios and gameplay actions.
In theory, the tool continuously gathers data and thus gets better over time in dealing with cheaters. However, if you look around in the forums, there are quite a few tricks with which it can be bypassed. Not every cheater was caught.
Ultimately, we have to wait and see which of the two tools performs better in practice.
You Can Search for Better Servers
New in The Division 2 – Server Switching: You can now choose your servers yourself. If you find that you have landed on a server with an unstable connection, you can simply look for another one.
The game shows your connection status in-game, so you can keep an eye on it yourself.
It’s also convenient that every activity in the game offers a matchmaking function for every difficulty level. This way, you can freely switch teams and servers.
This was the case in The Division 1: The first part offered no control over server selection. Therefore, this is a significant improvement.
How exactly this will work remains to be seen until release. It sounds as though they have taken the mistakes of the first part to heart.
What do you think of the measures? Do you believe that’s enough?
The action RPG Path of Exile has developed over the years from a Diablo clone into one of the most played hack ‘n’ slashes. Many fans compare this development to that of the online game Warframe: from underdog to king of the genre. What’s the truth behind it?
The better Diablo?
What is Path of Exile? Grinding Gear Games released an online action RPG called Path of Exile in 2013. It was intended as a kind of more complex Diablo. Group play is at the forefront, without PoE being an MMORPG.
You meet other players in hubs like towns or outposts, whom you can interact with and invite to your party of up to 6 members.
Together you fight hordes of monsters in the wilderness and complete quests.
The quest for loot is just as important in PoE as it is in Diablo.
What sets PoE apart from Diablo 3? Path of Exile is significantly more complex. Just the skill system is incredibly profound. You can enhance your hero in a multitude of ways, which can be daunting for casual players.
PoE does not rely on a comic-style graphics; it is much harder and not quite as “polished” as Diablo 3. There are rough edges that players have to deal with. PoE does not play as “smoothly” as Diablo 3.

What do players celebrate about PoE? Path of Exile has continued to evolve over the years. Currently, there are ten acts available that tell an epic story and provide tons of content. The community jokingly explains that you can only truly play Path of Exile full-time because it is so extensive.
Additionally, the action RPG offers endgame content that many other online games can only dream of.
This includes the maps. These are procedurally generated areas where you fight monsters from the acts, which provide greater challenges each time.
The Delve system offers you a procedurally generated mine where you must face greater dangers the further you descend. However, you will receive increasingly valuable rewards.
You can develop your hero in different directions according to class if you take on the dangerous challenge of a labyrinth filled with traps and monsters.
With the tons of possibilities and items, every character is unique.
Moreover, it should be mentioned that Path of Exile is not a game the developers intend to stop working on in the foreseeable future to focus on a sequel. It is planned as a long-term project and will continuously be supplied with new content. Players find in PoE a sort of second home.
How has Path of Exile developed over the years? When Path of Exile was announced, feedback from the community played a crucial role. This led to a large community that continually provides suggestions for improvements. These suggestions are implemented as best as possible, which players can experience in the new acts and other gameplay adjustments.
In September 2014, about a year after release, the action RPG already had around 7 million players. The team did not rest on its laurels but released expansion after expansion with new content such as the Ascendancy classes, the Labyrinth, new items, more acts, and more.
That’s why there was a long debate about PoE: Path of Exile has often been compared to Diablo 3. Which is the better action RPG and why? Those who were disappointed with Diablo 3 because it targeted more casual players claimed that PoE is the true successor to Diablo 2.
By now, the debate has cooled somewhat. Path of Exile has developed into something of its own, a game that no longer needs to be compared with the Diablo series.
Why are Warframe and Path of Exile compared? At first glance, it seems a bit odd that a game that is basically more home in the shooter/action area is compared to a hack ‘n’ slash RPG. However, both games have undergone a similar development.
Both started off rather inconspicuously and targeted a niche of hardcore players who enjoy grinding. However, regular expansions for both titles led to them gaining more followers.
Furthermore, both games are compared with major representatives of their respective genres: Path of Exile with Diablo 3 and Warframe with Destiny. However, by now both titles have been able to grow beyond this comparison and become something unique. Both games also utilize the free-to-play model and regularly receive major expansions.
Both Path of Exile and Warframe are games that have broken out of their niche status and have achieved tremendous success.

How well Path of Exile is received: The game’s reviews on Steam are classified as 83% “Very Positive”. According to Steamcharts, about 21,000 players play the hack ‘n’ slash on average, peaking at around 53,000 – and that’s only on Steam. There is also a separate launcher, and PoE can even be played on the Xbox One. A PS4 version is planned for March.
Overall opinions are mostly positive, but especially those who are not into particularly complex games have a harder time with PoE.
What about the microtransactions? The microtransactions in Path of Exile are somewhat divisive within the community. Some find them fair, while others consider the prices for items and packages too high. In the shop, you mainly buy cosmetic items and inventory expansions. However, mystery boxes, which are loot boxes, have been introduced, and they haven’t been received as well. The microtransactions do not offer pay-to-win elements.
Path of Exile has achieved the same as Warframe and has transformed from a niche title into a significant success.
A leak reveals that two new characters for Apex Legends are already in the code. Some of their abilities have also been uncovered. And when are Wall Runs coming?
These characters have been found: Dataminers have closely examined the code of Apex Legends and came across two previously undiscovered legends. In addition to the names, they also found abilities of the characters:
Octane: This is a legend that possesses a kind of stimpack ability. It is unclear whether this stimpack can boost health points or perhaps movement speed or other values of characters.
Wattson: According to his name, the character likely has to do with electricity. This also fits with one of his abilities “Tesla Trap.” An apparently electric trap that gets triggered by enemies. Possibly, he will be used similarly to Caustic.
How strong the new legends will be is still unclear. For the existing 8, it is known:
More names found: The dataminers also came across a list of additional names. However, these likely do not include any further lines of code from which one could deduce abilities or traits. They could also simply be names of new weapons. Dr DisRespect would surely be happy about a new shotgun.
Crypto
Husaria
Jericho
Nomad
Prophet
Rampart
Rosie
Skunner
Are Wall Runs coming to Apex Legends? As Gamerant explains, there are also sound files associated with Wall Runs for Wattson and Octane. Wall Runs originally belonged to Apex Legends but were removed before the release. However, they may return as limited game modes.
Running on walls like in Titanfall 2 – that could work in Apex Legends someday.
The fact that the two legends already have sound data for Wall Runs also suggests that they have been in the game’s code for some time.
Perhaps Respawn wanted to keep the selection of characters manageable at the beginning and will release the new legends gradually. On the roadmap for Apex Legends, they have already announced new legends and weapons.
With a bit of luck, you can perform cool tricks like this one with the new legends:
Anthem is a lot of fun. But multiplayer action and single-player story do not go well together. At least that’s what Cortyn thinks.
Last weekend, like many others, I spent countless hours in Anthem. Many missions and contracts were completed, dialogues were attentively followed, and with the Storm, every enemy that came into my crosshairs was frozen, blasted, or burned.
It is incredibly fun to play the missions with one, two, or three friends, shooting down enemies and exploring the cool world. Yes, playing outside of Fort Tarsis is really enjoyable in a team, and the combo system as well as the different roles of the various Javelins create a great team feeling.
But unfortunately, that’s not the whole game.
To be honest: the rest of Anthem is a burden in a group and anything but fun. At least if you haven’t played the story yet and have an interest in the dialogues.
The process is annoying. Because while you can usually pile up between two and five missions to complete them “in one go,” returning to Fort Tarsis in a group is bothersome. There, all players are running around alone in their instanced version of the game.
You turn in quests, get involved in (sometimes really funny) dialogues with NPCs, and stroll at a snail’s pace across the map, back and forth. Because as soon as you turn in a quest, three new characters want to talk to you.
That would be cool if Anthem were a pure single-player game, where you can take your time because other players aren’t waiting impatiently. But that’s exactly what Anthem is not.
Playing Anthem alone is not fun at all. Anyone who sets missions to “private” and completes them without players will probably fall asleep from boredom after just a few minutes. The real fun only comes when playing with others.
That playing together in large parts of Anthem is absolutely not enjoyable greatly diminishes the fun. You keep encountering these snippets of conversation in Discord:
“What was the name of the chief from the Domi-” – “Shh, just talking!”
“Can we go?” – “I’m still listening to the radio from the Crimson Lancer…”
This kind of game design is annoying. The game motivates me more to “rush through the game” without my friends so that I can relax and listen to the dialogues at my own pace, in the hope of spending more time with the actual action gameplay at the max level, which is not often interrupted by long solo dialogue events.
Perhaps that is different in the endgame, when you only chase missions and only enter Fort Tarsis for a few moments. But anyone interested in the story and wanting to talk to all characters when they have news to share will have a problem with group play. At least if they want to play with a fixed squad.
How do you feel about playing Anthem in a group? Do you experience the story as a team with friends? Or do you only team up with “randoms” for the missions?
