In June 2012, the action MMORPG Vindictus from Nexon was released. Although the game has aged a bit, efforts are now being made to bring players back with a new heroine and new events.
What is Vindictus? Vindictus is a hub-based MMORPG primarily focused on battling enemies. In the outposts, players take on quests and then head into dungeons. The action-packed and successful combat system is the hallmark of Vindictus.
During character creation, you choose one of 14 heroes to establish your play style. You can then make some visual adjustments to your character. After that, it’s out into the game world, which is said to be particularly challenging and somewhat grind-heavy in the endgame.
Vindictus is free-to-play and can be played through its own launcher or via Steam. However, in 2018, support for the German language was discontinued. Only the old content is still localized.
What’s new in Vindictus? On April 30, Vindictus released a patch and introduced a new heroine. The 14th character in the game is named Eira and is the sister of the existing character Arisha.
She focuses on using pistols and is very mobile thanks to her portals.
Overall, the MMO regularly receives new updates and improvements. Recently, there has been a stronger emphasis on collaboration with the players.
What can the new heroine Eira do? In a blog post about Eira, four abilities were also presented:
- Portal Leap – With this attack, Eira opens portals that she can pass through.
- Gravity Rounds – Eira can create an anti-gravity field that can stop weakened enemies.
- Infinity Shot – With this attack, Eira creates portals through which a hail of bullets descends upon enemies.
- Waveform Collapse – In this skill, Eira focuses on an enemy and attacks them with targeted strikes while moving quickly around them. In the end, spears are summoned that are fired at the enemy from portals.
Vindictus wants players back: In addition to the new heroine, Nexon is also currently working to entice back old players to the MMORPG. They have launched an event for returnees.
Players who have not logged in for more than 30 days receive various rewards. These include:
- Support items
- Outfits
- Weapons and armors
- and accessories.
Additionally, various events are currently taking place that reward players with items.
These are the ongoing events: The Golden Time Event runs until June 4. You receive items as rewards just for logging in and additionally for at least 30 minutes of gameplay every weekend.
Coinciding with the release of the new heroine Eira, there is a special leveling event. Depending on the level achieved, the Strange Traveler provides a reward box.
Last but not least, there is a guide contest about the character Eira as well. Players are encouraged to write guidebooks to help others with the new heroine. The best guidebook will be featured on the official website and rewarded with 50,000 NX (real money currency).
