In Destiny 2, the unique Exotic Lumina finally received its Catalyst in Season 10. Read why it makes the weapon so powerful and how it can be fully leveled in just 15 minutes. Additionally, you can find the best Healer build in the game here.
This is the weapon: The exotic hand cannon Lumina brought a new playstyle to Destiny 2. It can deal significant damage but can also heal and provide powerful buffs as the only weapon that can do so.
In the Season of Worthy, you can enhance the Exo-revolver even further and perfect its unique support abilities. This is made possible by the new Catalyst.
Exotic Catalyst for Lumina in Season 10
Many Exotics have access to the so-called Masterwork Catalysts, which make special weapons even stronger, grant new perks, or improve stats. Recently, Lumina has also joined the ranks of Exotics with even more power.
This is why Lumina is twice as good: The Catalyst essentially doubles Lumina’s exotic properties. After a kill, you now receive:
- 8 bullets returned directly to the magazine
- Grants you 2 Noble Rounds
With each “Residual” – that’s what the spheres dropped by enemies are called – you now receive double the bonuses. While this may not sound spectacular on paper, it is invaluable in-game.
Why is the Masterwork version so powerful? To explain why Lumina becomes so powerful with the upgrade, we need to take a closer look at the “Noble Rounds”.
These seeking orbs heal your allies and give you and the allied Guardian a damage bonus for 10 seconds:
- 35% more damage in PvE – This corresponds to the most powerful buffs in the game (Blessing of Dawn) and exceeds the 30% from the Well of Radiance.
- 20% more damage in PvP – This makes nasty one-shots possible with aggressive snipers to the body.
Additionally, thanks to the Catalyst, you practically don’t have to reload Lumina anymore. This forced pause often lasts longer than desired with hand cannons in Destiny. A full 8 out of 12 maximum bullets magically return to your magazine.
In most activities, you can permanently buff and heal your entire fireteam. You can chain kill after kill without having to pause or weigh whether your Noble Rounds are worth it in the current situation. You quickly gather a respectable stack and are a constant support. Your team is not reliant on the usual stationary buffs but can run through the activities at full speed.
This build gets even better: We presented you with a support build that makes your team almost immortal. One of the main ingredients for the build was the Exotic Lumina. Previously, you could heal in almost any situation and also distribute shields and buffs.
With the Masterwork Catalyst, you perfect the arguably strongest, uniquely supportive build and elevate it to another level. The best part: You are not a second-tier healer but right in the action and the anchor for the whole team.

Leveling the Catalyst in just 15 minutes
This is how you quickly upgrade Lumina to Masterwork: Every Masterwork Catalyst comes with a kind of mini-quest. Only when this task is completed, can you admire the additional abilities.
In the case of Lumina, you need to heal allies 250 times with Noble Rounds. The allies do not need to be damaged for it to count as healing. If you don’t want to do this on the side and rather do it in just 15 minutes, you only need another Guardian in your fireteam.
Then head to the Tribute Hall and eliminate the constantly respawning enemies while healing the Guardian standing beside you every few seconds. They don’t need to actively play Destiny 2; they just need to stand around. After about a quarter of an hour, the Catalyst will be fully leveled, and you can enjoy the Masterworked version of Lumina.
Where can you find the Catalyst? Since Season 10, the Masterwork Catalyst for Lumina can drop randomly from various activities. For example, you can be rewarded with the upgrade after a Crucible match or a strike. You cannot farm the Catalyst deliberately. However, the chance of obtaining it is very high, and most of you likely already have the item in your collection.
