The Elder Scrolls Online has now reached an impressive abundance of content. However, since it cannot be filtered, new players often feel hopelessly overwhelmed and sometimes don’t even know how to play the story in the correct order.
ESO has been providing new content steadily for over 6 years, and those who buy the game now usually get all previous chapters included in the base game, including the current chapter add-on Greymoor.
Those who also subscribe to ESO Plus have access to all other DLCs, including big ones like Orsinium, the Thieves Guild, and the Dark Brotherhood. This is enough content to spend many hours in Tamriel, but especially for new players, it also brings problems.
What is the problem with all this content? The reddit user LemonLimine summarizes what many players may be thinking – namely that it is really difficult to follow the story in the chronologically correct order:
For example, you buy a DLC and start with it. This has been the case since Morrowind and is really annoying if you just want to play through the Vestige storyline [from the base game]. You have to struggle to start the main quest. This is obviously confusing for new players who just land at the spot where the last DLC is.
But when you actually try to complete the story in order (i.e., going to Coldharbour and meeting the Prophet, etc.) [it gets complicated]. Once you get out of the starting zones, there are a million quest symbols everywhere trying to urge you to start one of the DLCs. It’s frustrating to sift through so many quests when you actually just want to find the ones you should be doing if you want to follow the story in the correct order.
How complex the story of ESO can be and how to “play it right” can be found here:
Players wish for filters for the abundance of content
Players are frustrated by intrusive NPCs: The thread by LemonLimine has resonated with many ESO players. He is by far not the only player who feels overwhelmed by the abundance of content and the annoying NPCs promoting it:
MadMartigan808 says: “The prologue quests are so damn invasive!”
TempestM feels similarly: “Yes, strolling through Vulkhel Guard with a new character is hell. So many NPCs [wanting something from me] at the wayshrines, the bank, etc.”
Gryphin even has a specific example of a particularly annoying NPC who insists that you GO to Elsweyr for dragon hunting NOW: “Do you know what you are going to do? I’m looking for you because of dragons in your homeland! – This comes up every damn time I port to the wayshrine in Vulkhel Guard.”
Player VayneArior started ESO with Morrowind and didn’t even know that the starting area was the DLC area: “I had no help when I started playing ESO, and I started in Vvardenfell, completely unaware that it was even a DLC.”
This is what players want: Since the problem annoys many, there were also various ideas in the thread on how to solve it. One user suggests perhaps using different colors for the quest markers from the different DLCs and chapters. Then at least it would be clear that the quest with the dragons does not belong to the base game, but to the Elsweyr chapter.
Additionally, new players should have the choice of where to start in the story. Because so far, you automatically enter the prologue of Greymoor and have to awkwardly search for the starting quest of the base game if you want to begin with that. Many players in ESO would like this choice. Another option would be to at least silence the annoying NPCs who constantly barrage you with the latest DLC quests.
By the way, if you want to return to ESO, this article might be helpful:
By the way, one player has a special suggestion: ESO should take inspiration from World of Warcraft. Because WoW also has tons of addons and a convoluted story. But thanks to the feature “Chromie Time”, you can selectively choose and relive past content. Such a feature would certainly not be wrong for ESO and its confusing abundance of content.

World of Warcraft: Shadowlands is full of new secrets that players can discover and some of which they encounter quite early. One of these secrets is the “unusually large mushroom” found in Ardenweald. You can use it to obtain a secret mount. MeinMMO reveals how it works.
What kind of mushroom is this? The unusually large mushroom is an item that you will likely find fairly early during quests in Ardenweald. It has a duration of only 20 minutes and cannot be used directly.
You need it to obtain the mount “Forest Viper” through a hidden quest, a rideable frog. However, the mushroom itself looks rarer than it actually is.
This stylish frog can be yours as a reward.
Where can I find it? The unusually large mushroom drops everywhere in Ardenweald and in the associated dungeons, The Other Side and Mist of Tirna Scithe. The latter is among the three best dungeons in Shadowlands.
Every enemy there has a chance to drop this mushroom as loot. It is not particularly rare and you don’t have to explicitly farm it. If you simply complete world quests or other activities, you should find one quickly. Otherwise, you can defeat any enemies in the areas.
Frequently asked questions about WoW Shadowlands on MeinMMO:
Plant the unusually large mushroom and grab the Forest Viper
How to use the mushroom: Once you have acquired a mushroom, take it to the coordinates 32 / 30 in the northwest, northwest of Dreamsong Fenn. In our guide, we explain how to display coordinates.
At that location, you will find the object “Wet Clay.” Use the clay while you have the mushroom in your inventory and a “rapidly growing mushroom” will appear. This will transform into the rare enemy Ri’sig after a few seconds.
Here you will find the clay to summon the boss.
Ri’sig has a considerable amount of hit points, so it is advisable to bring friends. It is sufficient for one person to plant the mushroom. Once you have defeated Ri’sig, he will definitely have the mount “Forest Viper” with him.
What other secrets are there? In Shadowlands, there are hidden quests, NPCs, or secrets around every corner that you can discover. One new NPC has reminded MeinMMO author Benedict Grothaus of his saddest moment in WoW.
As we enter the realm of the dead with the new expansion, it offers many opportunities to reunite with old acquaintances while also taking entirely new paths. However, this does not seem to please all players.
Even though Shadowlands is full of content, there were particularly bad reviews at release on Metacritic. Although that is slowly improving, there are still dissatisfied players. How about you: is Shadowlands top or flop?

The new PC MMORPG Age of Wushu 2 looked really good in the first screenshots. But how is the game doing that we haven’t heard anything about for a long time?
What was Age of Wushu 2 supposed to become? The MMORPG from Snail Games was planned as a survival MMORPG, although survival in this case should not be equated with games like Conan Exiles or Rust.
Snail Games explained that you have to survive in the open game world by forging your own path. You follow a Martial Arts school and learn their fighting style. Age of Wushu 2 was supposed to take place in ancient China just like its predecessor. Through your chosen school, you would have been able to access quests that would guide you through the world. Additionally, beat ’em up-like PvP battles against players from rival schools would have been possible.
Furthermore, you could have founded your own martial arts school and trained NPCs there. Therefore, it would have been very important to interact with the population, complete quests for them, and build a relationship of trust.
Age of Wushu looked really good in the first images.
No good news about Age of Wushu 2
Wait, why is this being told from the past? As it looks, Age of Wushu 2 is probably no longer coming. Currently, rumors are circulating that Snail Games has halted the project and its funding. Allegedly, the game lacked a clear direction. This has not yet been officially confirmed.
How likely is that? The rumors sound quite plausible. After all, there haven’t been any new information about the MMORPG for over a year. There hasn’t even been a trailer to see.
Why is that a shame? Age of Wushu 2 looked stunning in the first screenshots thanks to Unreal Engine 4. Although there was no gameplay seen yet, the images made you eager to explore and experience ancient China in its beauty.
Moreover, the predecessor (known here as Age of Wulin) had a fantastic atmosphere thanks to beautiful landscapes and fitting Chinese music. Experiencing these qualities in modern form with new gameplay elements could have been a lot of fun.
The streaming platform Twitch has permanently banned the streamer Sebastian “forsen” Fors (29). He is one of the 100 largest streamers on Twitch and a cornerstone of the platform. The reason for the ban is a picture that shows sodomy. Apparently, Forsen was set up by a troll. Fans criticize the ban and accuse Twitch of being inconsistent.
Who is Forsen? With 1.4 million followers, Forsen is one of the 100 largest streamers on Twitch. He is also an influential streamer: he has been on the platform since 2011. Many memes of Twitch culture have originated from his channel.
Forsen shows an innocent picture that becomes pornographic
What was Forsen permanently banned for? Forsen held a “React stream”. There, viewers send him links which he then watches and reacts to live. He clicked on an imgur link that was apparently sent to him by a fan.
This Imgur link actually shows an innocent meme but switched to a pornographic image after about 9 seconds, depicting a sodomitic act. The image featured a young woman and a horse.
You can see the incident with the image here. The image is censored here; otherwise, it would have been removed from YouTube:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0f5iapecNU0
Forsen immediately closed the link and said, “That’s why we can’t have nice things,” meaning, “You ruin everything here.” But although it was only for a short time, he apparently received the permanent Twitch ban for showing this image, as he later confirmed on Twitter.
Forsen says: The ban came due to the “horse image.” The ban has no set end. He considers it “unlucky” – “bad luck.”
The streamer Pokimane accidentally showed porn on her channel and was only warned. However, Forsen was permanently banned. At Twitch, only “simps” seem to work.
One user says: It cannot be that Pokimane and Alinity are free while Forsen is banned.
The perhaps best reaction came from the WoW streamer Asmongold.
He apparently didn’t know what the image really showed and assumed it just showed a naked horse. He then exclaimed: This is totally normal: “Horses don’t wear clothes.”
When he later found out what the image was really about, he laughed and remarked: “Well, that’s a bit different.”

This is what’s behind it: These reaction streams on Twitch work such that viewers send the streamer a link, and he clicks it, shows the appropriate material to his viewers, and reacts to it live.
Trolls repeatedly try to slip poisoned links to streamers, which then lead to trouble with Twitch. Streamers are aware of this and check the links beforehand or have them checked by mods.
The gif in question was a kind of ticking bomb that only activated after 9 seconds and went off. Apparently, Forsen was outsmarted this way.
So far, Forsen has only received temporary bans. This time, the “endless” ban is a different level.
In constant danger of getting banned: xQc
The most well-known “reaction” streamer on Twitch is xQc. He is also constantly at risk of being slipped a “poisoned” link by fans. In June 2020, xQc was banned for something similar to what Forsen is facing now. He had briefly shown two gorillas having sex:
The boss of Bungie spoke in an interview about the development of new projects for which they are massively hiring talent. Guardians are now wondering: does this have an impact on Destiny 2?
The CEO of Bungie, Pete Parsons, spoke in an interview about the studio behind Destiny 2 and their future plans. He proudly addressed that they have been working on other projects for 3 years, for which the studio is currently making significant investments. This is causing criticism among the Guardians.
This is what the interview is about: On November 27, Peter Parsons spoke with GameCentral (via Metro). Towards the end of the interview, the focus clearly shifted away from Destiny 2 and the new expansion Beyond Light, towards Bungie’s future as a studio and new projects.
They want to mix in a lot of “Bungie’s Secret Sauce” to the titles – the secret recipe that makes Bungie games so tasty. According to Parsons, they have been brewing on the new titles for 3 years, since 2017.
Initially starting the work with a small team, they have recently been hiring new employees at a breakneck speed. The “new talents” and the resulting team are the most important resource for Bungie in the entire studio.
Pete Parsons
Even more important than releasing new games, according to Parsons, is the question:
How do we build teams that know how to work together and – most importantly – create magical things?
In the interview, it was mentioned that Bungie is hiring so many new employees that “almost a quarter of them have never set foot in the studio.” This refers to the fact that Bungie has been working largely from home for some time – Destiny 2 is being further developed from home.
The strong focus on new projects, the fruits of which we are supposed to see sometime before 2025, is also heating up the emotions of some Destiny players.
More about the studio behind Destiny 2 and its employees can be found here on MeinMMO:
Parsons has been the CEO of Bungie since 2016. His predecessor Harold Ryan has since founded a new game studio, which works with currently 100 employees on the revolution of blockbuster titles:
Because Destiny 2 is doing poorly, Bungie’s policies are receiving criticism
That Bungie is growing and evolving as a studio should be good news. However, instead, there is harsh criticism for Parsons’ statements and the plans for Bungie’s future.
Why are the Guardians angry? The tone of the criticism is unanimous (via PCGamer):
“So D2 releases are only the absolute minimum, they are diverting resources to another game.”
“It’s amazing to see how a developer can go from producing incredible games to a total crash within the span of two releases.”
“It must feel great to be part of the Destiny 2 team with the minimum support and resources available to them. As far as I know, the overwhelming majority of Bungie’s developers are focused on these new titles, with the D2 team receiving only minimal support.”
The Guardians feel betrayed, their Destiny 2 is being left behind and the new talents and investments benefit the new projects.
If Destiny 2 were flourishing, the reactions might be different. However, since the savior Forsaken launched in 2018 and the split between Bungie and Activision Blizzard occurred less than half a year later, there has essentially been a phase of constant criticism.
Whether the development of other games at Bungie will have an impact – positive or negative – on Destiny 2, is something that no one can say for certain at this time.
What do we know about the future of Destiny 2 and the new projects at Bungie?
The course for the future of Destiny 2 is already set for the next few years:
Recently released the expansion “Beyond Light” (November 2020), which serves as the beginning of a trilogy.
In 2021, the next chapter “Witch Queen” will be released.
In 2022, “Lightfall” will conclude the trilogy and (at least for now) bring the saga of light against darkness to an end.
What will happen next is still uncertain. However, we know that Bungie is committed to Destiny 2 and aims to develop it into an action MMO that combines the best of Destiny 1 and its successor. And apparently, the story of Destiny 2 is not yet fully told with Lightfall, as Bungie revealed to MeinMMO in an interview.
Will Beyond Light bring enough to appease the Guardians?
For many, Beyond Light is now seen as a kind of last chance for Destiny 2. If Bungie fails with this DLC, some players are threatening to hang up their Guardian careers.
What do you think? Do you think Bungie is neglecting Destiny 2, or are the new talents and the connected team benefiting the entire studio, including Destiny 2? Let us know in the comments.

In Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warpro player Envoy has no regard for the submachine guns (SMGs). According to him, they are currently useless in the game and far inferior to the assault rifle class. You can find out why this is the case according to the pro here.
Who is Envoy? Dylan “Envoy” Hannon is a 20-year-old pro gamer currently playing for the OpTic Chicago team in the CDL. Following the release of Cold War, the first e-sport rounds took place, and according to Envoy, a quite rigid meta-game seems to be developing.
What is Envoy’s opinion? Unlike Modern Warfare, where both assault rifles and submachine guns had a fixed place in the meta, it seems that the multiplayer of Cold War is leaning towards a brutal dominance of the assault rifles.

In a discussion with his teammates, the SMG player Envoy stated that “SMGs are simply useless in this game.” The reason for this is likely that they had a mixed setup at the start and were absolutely dominated by teams coming in with four assault rifles.
We faced [the team from] New York and they had four AK74s in Moscow. That blew my mind. The SMGs are much harder to play in this game. We then switched to the AK-74u, which is a bit easier to play, but the MP5 was just impossible.
The German submachine gun has indeed been nerfed recently:
These are the reasons against using SMGs: As Envoy and his comrades stated, it is very difficult to compete against assault rifles on the maps with the current SMGs. The maps are also more designed for assault rifles. Envoy has said:
“So many head glitches, so many open alleys, and hills from which you can see them well.” This makes it partly impossible to capture some of the mission objectives.
One of the reasons why submachine guns are currently so hard to play is certainly due to the strange bullet velocity that has been implemented in Cold War for these weapons. SMGs shoot significantly slower projectiles than in other CoD games. Why that is and what you can do about it, you will find out here at MeinMMO.

In South Korea, there is an obsession with a case in League of Legends: The LoL coach Kim “cvMax” Dae-ho is alleged to have choked his player Choi “Sword” Sung-won. The case is being investigated like a court case. Now, 2 witnesses have been cross-examined.
This is the background: Coach cvMax is something like the “shining figure” in South Korean LoL. He is considered a “super coach” who discovers and nurtures talent. The newcomer guided the team Griffin from the second league to the World Championship. cvMax was however dismissed just before the Worlds 2019.
The team Griffin itself plays no more role; it was dissolved after a scandal in 2019. But cvMax continued in 2020 with two of his players at DRX, again made it to the Worlds, but this team also fell apart now.
What makes the case so fascinating? The Korean site Inven has now published the transcript of two cross-examinations. Two assistant coaches from Team Griffin were meticulously questioned about the incident, whether cvMax choked the top laner Sword or not.
The interrogations read like scenes from a courtroom drama like “Law and Order.”
The prosecutor aims to prove that cvMax repeatedly physically touched his players and that this behavior is excessive. Other coaches would never behave this way.
The defender wants to prove that it was only in the best interest of the players and that they “somehow deserved” this behavior because they played weakly. The touching was supposed to serve as a coaching method, not as a loss of impulse control.
In December, there is supposed to be a fifth and final hearing: Apparently, another player will be questioned who followed cvMax to the new team, either Chovy or Doran. After that, a verdict is expected.
Even cvMax’s new team, DRX, has already fallen apart.
After the end of Team Griffin, cvMax made a new attempt with DRX to become world champion. The team was successful under his leadership and quickly became number 2 in South Korea. However, this team did not last long either. After just a year, DRX completely fell apart:
The defender tries to discredit the witnesses’ reports as unreliable because they could not immediately recall details. It is about marks from choking on the neck.
According to the records, you said: “I think I saw that he touched your neck and shook you,” but in the questioning, they said they only saw him hit the chair. When we went for food, I saw that Sword’s neck was red and swollen. I saw bloody imprints from fingernails on his neck. When was that? I think it was in the spring, but I’m not sure about the exact date. I told Sword to treat the area with ointment, but I didn’t apply it myself. Sword did not mention any bloodstains on his neck. Did that just occur to you? I said it before, but I don’t remember if it came up. Did you see that cvMax did that? I did not see it. Did Sword say that cvMax did that? Sword didn’t even know he had bloodstains on his neck.
The difficulty is that apparently no one really saw the actual incident, the choking. The coach is said to have held and shaken players by their shoulders. In addition, he is said to have hit the players’ gaming chair. This has happened more frequently; that seems to be agreed upon. But whether it escalated further and he really choked a player is the crucial point.
The defender constructs it such that top laner Sword was a weak player who died 10 times in a practice match and was later replaced by a better player, Doran. Sword would thus, it is implied, have a motive to frame the coach.
Here, cvMax joyfully embraces Sword – but he is also alleged to have choked him.
What makes the case so delicate: The public sentiment in South Korea seems to be completely on the side of cvMax. He is seen as someone who is extremely ambitious and leads his team to success.
Sword is the “scapegoat” in the story, portraying himself as a victim because he was simply too weak. It is suggested: Sword has conspired and complained to the management to return to the team. But without the new star top laner and the brilliant coach, Team Griffin had no success at the Worlds 2019, according to the perspective of many fans.

In League of Legends there is the so-called Elo Hell, where many players end up. To escape from it, it requires a lot of patience and strength. U.S. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez shared in a livestream on Twitch that she herself was stuck in this hell and is now benefiting from it in her job.
Who is it about? U.S. politician Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (31, also known as AOC) is considered the great hope of the political left in the U.S. The New Yorker won the congressional election in 2018, even though she entered without financial resources and as a complete underdog.
She made headlines in October 2020 when 600,000 people watched her play Among Us on Twitch. Generally, the politician is considered gaming-affine and it has been known for some time that she plays League of Legends.
In her second livestream on Twitch, AOC spoke about her experiences in the Elo Hell of LoL and how this experience even helps her in her job as a politician.
“It really strengthens patience”
What does AOC say in the stream? In the livestream, AOC played the popular indie game Among Us with others. However, during a waiting phase for more players, she was asked various questions.
In response to a question about whether her experiences in LoL would help her in Congress, AOC replied:
Being trapped in Elo Hell requires so much patience. I played… with about 12-year-olds who rage-quit the game after 5 minutes.
So yes, it really strengthens patience.

During the livestream, she talked about how much better it is once you have left Elo Hell. Then you can finally play with players who are as good as you are. From there, the games become really fun.
What is Elo Hell? Elo Hell (or MMR Hell) refers to a certain area in the ranking of competitive games from which it is difficult to escape. Most players usually find themselves there, leading to a highly fluctuating quality of matches.
Some of them think they are better than they actually are, while others play just for fun and do not want to improve. Additionally, many in Elo Hell rely on individual actions rather than good team performance, which can be fatal in LoL.
What rank is AOC in? It is currently difficult to say. She last shared her progress in July 2020. She reached Silver 3 and compared the “right Twitter” to fighting against 13-year-olds in LoL (via Dot Esports).
However, she revealed in the stream what role she takes in ranked matches. AOC prefers to play as support, usually with defensive characters like Janna, Lux, Morgana, or Sona. However, she likes to play them aggressively, which according to her sometimes backfires.
Over 100,000 watch the second livestream
How many watched AOC? When the politician went live for the first time in October, she had a peak of 439,000 viewers. That was a really strong number. Back then, she played along with well-known personalities such as:
The second livestream peaked at 104,000 viewers. This places AOC in the top 10 of the most simultaneous viewers on Twitch in the last 7 days (via Sullygnome).
However, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez does not only spend her time streaming on Twitch, but has also tried to make the platform better from her perspective.
She wanted to prevent the U.S. Army from using Twitch to appear “hip and trendy” and thereby recruit young gamers for military service:
The first rounds in Zombie mode of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War can be shockingly confusing. MeinMMO shows and explains the most important mechanics for starting on the Zombie map “Die Maschine”.
The co-op mode in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War sends you to a spooky facility in Poland that is completely infested with zombies. Your task here: Uncover the dark secrets of the map “Die Maschine”.
But before you can solve any of the crazy Easter eggs on the map, you must gear up for the fight against increasingly stronger zombie hordes. MeinMMO shows you the basics of the Zombie mode and how to gather enough firepower to survive many rounds in this guide.
To create the guide, we watched beginner videos from CoD Zombie YouTubers and played a few rounds ourselves to better understand the mechanics. You can find the links in the sources at the end of a page.

Cold War Zombies: Beginner’s Guide with Tips for Survival
What is the objective in Zombie mode?
In the co-op mode of Black Ops Cold War, you should uncover the secrets of an old bunker facility hidden in the zombie-infested depths. The story is not linear, but hidden in puzzles and Easter eggs that you explore deeper with each new match.
What is the difficulty?
The zombies come at you in waves, and with each new wave, a greater challenge awaits. You can follow the story while also dealing with the undead or try to destroy as many waves as possible.
What does this guide help with?
To be able to follow the story, you need a certain base strength that you obtain through mechanics in the match. Without these upgrades, you will only survive a few rounds, as the zombies get stronger over time. The guide shows you the basics of the mechanics, how to get strong equipment, and the first quest steps up to the Pack-a-Punch machine.
Mechanics in Zombie Mode
The mechanics in Zombie mode differ fundamentally from those in multiplayer. The weapon damage depends on rarity, and zombies bring their own field upgrades and perks. Here are a few explanations of the basics:
Zombies
All enemies on the map are zombies and represent the main source of your currencies. They are not only in your way but also your source for progress.
During a match, you will encounter various types of undead, some more humanoid than others, and some also bring their own attacks and mechanics. With each round, the zombies gain more health and increase their damage over time:
Round 1 to 10: 30 damage
Round 11 to 30: 50 damage
from Round 51: 80 damage
This makes it increasingly difficult to withstand the hordes, and you need upgrades to stay alive while keeping the zombie horde dead.
You encounter different types of the nasty undead.
Currencies & Materials
There are 3 currencies in the match that are important for you to fight zombies more effectively:
Essence
Scrap
Premium Scrap
Essence is the main currency in Zombie mode, which you also earn with every zombie kill. You can use it to remove barricades, buy weapons, procure ammunition, or upgrade your weapons with Pack-a-Punch upgrades.
Scrap provides you with some items at the workbench, including tactical and explosive equipment. You also need the material to upgrade your weapons and armor.
Premium Scrap gives you access to supports that you can use in Zombie mode. These items provide a strong bonus, including a powerful combat bow, a lifesaving self-revive kit, or the zombie-slaying helicopter shooter that can even temporarily remove you from the map. You also need premium scrap to upgrade your weapons and armor to the highest levels.
How to obtain Aetherium Crystals?
You obtain the crystals by completing a certain number of waves in Zombie mode. After 10 rounds, you’ll receive the first crystal, and then another after every 5 rounds. If you let yourself be evacuated, you get one more on top of that. At higher waves, you can collect even more crystals.
With this currency, you can permanently improve your equipment outside the match:
Weapon classes
Field upgrades
Perks
Ammunition modifications
Go to the upgrade menu in the Zombie tab and select “Abilities”.
Weapon Rarity & Upgrades
In Zombie mode, you can use all weapons from multiplayer. However, your loadout weapons only help you in the first few rounds, as their damage is directly dependent on their rarity. There are a total of 5 rarities in the following order:
Red
Green
Blue
Purple
Orange
To improve your firepower, you have several options during the match:
Upgrade for scrap or premium scrap in the arsenal
Buy weapons with essence that are hanging on the walls (outline color indicates rarity)
Activate the Mystery Box to receive a random weapon
Complete quests to unlock specific weapons
The further you progress in the waves, the better weapons you’ll receive from the walls and the Mystery Box. The weapons also have attachments that improve the weapon’s stats. You can roll them again at the arsenal.
You receive the ultimate upgrades through the upgrades at the Pack-a-Punch machine and by adding ammunition modifications.
In Zombie mode, there are many ways to increase your firepower.
Field Upgrades
Field upgrades are active abilities that trigger strong effects. You select them before the match in your loadout. After use, they become available again after a certain cooldown:
Frost Shot: Spreads damage, makes zombies more susceptible and slower
Energy Mine: Proximity mine that deals high damage
Aether Veil: Zombies do not attack you for a few seconds
Heal Aura: Heals you and your teammates in the vicinity
Fire Ring: Creates a ring that boosts your damage and deals damage to zombies
All upgrades can be further enhanced with Aetherium crystals, receiving additional bonuses.
Field upgrades recharge after use.
Perks
The perks in Zombie mode are not selected beforehand; you have to buy them in the match – in the form of refreshment drinks. Scattered all over the map are 6 machines where you can buy the strengthening drinks for essence:
Jugger-Nog: Better health
Speed Cola: Faster reloading
Quick Revive: Faster healing
Stamin-Up: Increases speed
Elemental Limo: Shots can deal elemental damage
Deadshot Daiquiri: Aim assist for critical hits
The perks can also be significantly improved with Aetherium crystals. Every perk you draw from the machines within the match increases the cost of the next perk purchase. However, you keep the extras and can equip all perks in one match at once.
There are colorful perk drinks at colorful machines.
Ammunition Modifications
In the Zombie mode of Cold War, you have access to 4 different ammunition elements. Once you have activated the Pack-a-Punch machine, you can give your weapons an element at the device using essence:
Napalm Salve (Fire): Chance for more damage over time
Dead Wire (Electric): Can stun zombies
Kryo Freeze (Ice): Can slow zombies down
Brain Rot (Poison): Can briefly turn zombies into allies
With Aetherium crystals, you improve the elemental ammunition to cause more damage or enhance the effects’ potency.
Evacuation
At the end of your matches, you don’t always have to lie on the ground bitten. By being picked up, you earn a decent amount of bonus experience points and an additional Aetherium crystal.
Once you’ve completed round 10, you can request an evacuation at the start of round 11. After that, you can start it every 5 rounds from round 16 onwards. The terminal for evacuation is located in the first area, to the right of the door.
Only start the evacuation if you really want to end the match.
Once you’ve activated the request, the quest marker will guide you to a pickup zone that must be completely cleared of zombies within the specified time. If you don’t succeed, the pickup helicopter will explode, and the bonus rewards will be lost.
Workbench
Scattered around the map are workbenches where you can craft equipment from your scrap and premium scrap:
Tactical equipment that heals or distracts zombies
Primary equipment that deals high damage to zombies
Support equipment, including a revival kit and heavy weapons
The gadgets help you in the fight against the zombies and are some of the strongest items you can obtain. The revival kit acts as a respawn since zombies do not attack you in the KO mode. A well-placed C4 charge can clear a dozen zombies with the press of a button. As the cherry on top, you have the helicopter shooter that lets you terrorize the map with a minigun from a safe height for a time.
Here you can craft powerful items.
Arsenal for Armor and Weapon Upgrades
At the entrance to the “Die Maschine” room, there is a workbench that comes to life after you turn on the power. A friendly doll smiles at you and offers weapon and armor upgrades in exchange for the scrap and premium scrap you collect during matches.
Here you can get upgrades and repairs for your armor. Through the upgrades, you can install up to 3 armor plates to your vest, significantly increasing your health. However, the plates do not regenerate automatically; you’ll need to refill them with items from fallen zombies or here at the arsenal.
You can also upgrade your weapons to higher rarity levels and re-roll the attachments on the weapons.
At the arsenal, you enhance your survivability and weapon rarity.
Pack-a-Punch
To build your powerful firearms into the perfect anti-zombie weapons, you need to activate the Pack-a-Punch machine and spend your essence to purchase a weapon upgrade. With each upgrade, you must dig deeper into your pockets, and you can upgrade all weapons in the game up to level 3:
5,000 essence for level 1
15,000 essence for level 2
30,000 essence for level 3
Your weapons become significantly stronger and more effective against zombies with the tuning, and the effect stacks with the rarity of your weapons. Therefore, spend the cash on upgrades only for weapons you want to upgrade or those that already have a high rarity level.
At the machine, there are insane upgrades for all weapons. Source: YouTube
Other Mechanics
The following mechanics should also be known right from the start.
Ammunition Boxes
Here you can refill your ammunition reserves, which can quickly run out under the onslaught of countless zombies. Watch your ammunition and remember the positions of the ammo boxes, which you can also see on the mini-map.
Power-Ups
During a match, collectible bonuses appear every now and then that give you a powerful boost. “Carpenter” repairs all obstacles in front of barricades, or a “Nuke” fries all zombies currently on the map. Collect them before they disappear.
Barricades
Your progress in the game is initially hindered by barricades. These are sometimes doors, but often debris that is in the way. With essence, you can remove these barricades and access a new area of the map.
Mystery Boxes
Scattered throughout the map, you will find these mystery boxes that give you a random weapon for essence. The higher your current wave number, the better your chances for strong weapons from the boxes. They are a good source for guns with higher rarity, but it remains random what you get.
Zombie Loadout – Strong Weapons & Field Upgrades
Even before going into battle, you craft a loadout. Here you pack a weapon and choose a special zombie field upgrade.
Cold War – Zombie Mode: Strong Loadout Weapons
Gallo 12 / Hauer 77 – Shotguns work well against zombies
Light machine guns – Plenty of ammunition & damage, but slow reloading
AUG / M16 – The precise 3-shot bursts save ammunition and increase the headshot ratio
Cold War – Zombie Mode: Strong Field Upgrades
Aether Veil – You have a brief moment of complete peace from the zombies
Heal Aura – Several upgrades make it very strong for team healing
Fire Ring – Provides a significant bonus on weapon damage
However, you only have access to the weapons and gadgets that you have already unlocked through your military rank. If you are fresh to Cold War, you will need to unlock a lot first. Your level is not separated from your multiplayer level. With the start of Season 1, you can even increase your ranks in Warzone.
Repair broken barricades to gain points and keep zombies at bay.
On page 2, you will find the guide for the map “Die Maschine”, with which you can activate the Pack-a-Punch machine to prepare for the story and the Easter eggs.

The Hack and Slay Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem finally gets new content. Some fans see this update as a last chance for the game.
What is this update about? After completion of the major overhaul of the game, “Chronicle 1: Bloodtrail” is set to introduce new content to the action RPG Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem and make several gameplay improvements. However, the developers do not want to talk about the exact changes and innovations just yet. That is supposed to happen in the near future.

Wolcen finally receives a content update. Players have been waiting for this since release.
An important update with a downside
Why is this update so important? The fans of Wolcen have been waiting since the release of the game in February 2020 to finally experience new adventures. This is a long time without content supplies, which together with bugs has cost a lot of players the game. Thus, the Hack and Slay urgently needs this update, particularly in terms of new content, to satisfy the players.
There are already voices from the community that say this content update could be the last chance for the action RPG.
arielv82 writes on Steam: “This is probably your last chance to save the game. Good luck!”
Nevertheless, there are also players who are looking forward to the update:
aveferrum expresses excitement: “I am so hyped! Great job, guys!”
Owling [UA] is also thrilled: “Wow! We are alive! Thank you! I’ve been waiting sooooo long for this!”
What downside does the update bring? The developers explain that “Chronicle 1: Bloodtrail” resets the game economy. This means that anyone who wants to experience the new content and gameplay improvements must start over with a new character. Essentially, this is a wipe – and that after the official release.
This has already led to some criticism:
kolma84 states on Steam: “This update marks the start of a new Wolcen journey = now we are finally releasing version 1.0 of the game.”
Do you really have to start over? The developers know that many are attached to their characters and therefore introduce a legacy mode. This allows you to continue playing with your existing character on a separate legacy server. However, this also means that you cannot utilize the new content and gameplay improvements and that trading with players who play the new version is not possible.
When is the update coming? The team has not yet announced a release date. It is only said that it will be “soon”. Soon there should also be more information about the new content and the changes to the gameplay.
What is the current state of Wolcen? The reviews on Steam have improved to 70% and Mostly Positive over the past 30 days. However, the overall ratings still stand at 55% and Mixed.
Players are simply waiting for new content and there are still a few bugs that mar the gaming experience. With the new update “Chronicle 1: Bloodtrail”, the developers can now create a turnaround and perhaps finally make Wolcen the Diablo alternative that some have wished for.
In Pokémon GO we are likely to soon experience the debut of the Psychic Pokémon Psiau. The monster from Generation 6 is currently being teased as a new raid boss.
This is what happened over the weekend: Throughout the weekend, Niantic released small teasers that became increasingly clear:
Psiau in Pokémon GO – What can the new monster do?
This is Psiau: This Psychic Pokémon is the pre-evolution of Psiaugon. It comes from the Kalos region and is not currently available in Pokémon GO.
This is how strong Psiaugon will be: Psiau itself is not relevant for the meta of Pokémon GO. Therefore, we look at the evolution Psiaugon. The stats are as follows:
Attack value: 166
Defense value: 167
HP value: 179
Maximum CP: 2124
A look at the stats is enough to see that Psiaugon will also not play a major role. The attack value is weak, and especially among Psychic Pokémon, there is significant competition.
You will only need Psiau and its evolution for the Pokédex entry. Otherwise, the monsters will not play a significant role.
When will Psiau arrive? The raid timer in the teaser on Twitter runs out today, November 30, at 8:00 PM. At least the egg in the video will hatch by then.
It is likely that Psiau will also appear in Pokémon GO or at least be officially announced. The release of the new Pokémon won’t take long in any case.
Until the release of Generation 6, it won’t be long. We are looking here at the starter Pokémon of the Kalos region:
Cortyn from MeinMMO finds a lot of good things about WoW: Shadowlands. However, three aspects have been particularly well done in the new expansion.
It’s been almost a week since the release of WoW: Shadowlands. After I threw all reason out the window and played the game all night on release night I’ve been able to take a good look at everything in the last few days. I have now completed the quests in all areas, taken a few trips to Torghast, visited several dungeons, and unlocked quite a few secrets for my Sanctum.
To put it briefly: I’m having fun. So much fun that I think about what I’ll do in WoW later at work. So much fun that at 2:00 a.m. I find myself having the silly thought of “just one more hour,” even though after 15 years I should know better by now.
There’s so much to do and so much to experience in Shadowlands. But in particular, three changes and improvements have led to me grazing the 10-hour mark while playing almost every day and neglecting pretty much everything else.
One of the best changes has been made to treasures because they feel really good again.
In the last expansions, treasures were almost just loveless chests standing in the middle of nowhere, containing junk worth 7 gold. It didn’t feel like a treasure, nor did it seem like someone had put much thought into it.
In Shadowlands, it’s different. Almost all treasures are rewarding, containing a piece of armor, a toy, a mount, or a cool transmog – at the very least, some anima. Although you can already see treasures on the map beforehand, the path to them isn’t always easy. Often they are actually hidden behind a secret path or require solving a particular puzzle to be opened.
Behind many treasures lies a puzzle – this chest only opens when 2 players play a musical instrument.
For the Kyrians, you can only open a treasure if you are “pure.” The chest does not reveal more. To do this, one must first ring one of the bells and then stand under a waterfall for several seconds.
For another puzzle, one must find an “ancient offering.” A few meters away, two Provosts sit with an “ancient wine bowl,” which cannot be used without wine. When speaking to the Provosts, they give the hint that they are still waiting for someone to bring the wine. So you follow a small detective story until you have everything together to open the treasure.
Sure, one can simply look up the solution to the puzzle online – but that would somewhat ruin the game and the exploration for oneself.
More current news about Shadowlands can be found here:
I’m not exactly a revelation in PvP – I know that. In rated PvP, I have never achieved a particularly high rating, even though I do enjoy watching arena matches and understand what it’s all about.
But I have always enjoyed the occasional “getting beaten up a bit” in WoW, whether in battlegrounds or in war mode.
However, I completely avoided battlegrounds in Battle for Azeroth. I simply found it no fun, mainly due to the rewards that were largely random. What I got at the end of a battleground was left to chance. There was no way to work towards something specific.
The PvP vendor displays his goods directly – That’s a clear, easily understandable goal.
When I log into WoW now and look at my character, I can clearly say: My shoulder armor is not good yet, I need something better. The PvP vendor entices with an upgrade and the promise of being able to further enhance the item. I was able to exchange my outdated 135 shoulders for fresh shoulders from the PvP vendor and upgrade them directly to level 171. This is done simply through earned Honor with the NPC right next to the vendor.
This is straightforward, enticing, and rewarding. I know what I’m working towards and am confident that I will get it. With some victories, it’s quite fast, if I only incur losses, it takes a bit longer.
This would also be a tip for everyone: At least do your weekly PvP quest in the battlegrounds; it gives another 500 Honor and a bit of Anima.
PvP pays off again – even if you only need 1 or 2 items, the Honor vendor can help.
Yes, those who already have full equipment from mythic dungeons and do this all day will not get much interesting anymore. But those who have leveled a bit more leisurely or are currently exploring the vastness of Shadowlands will find a few easily earned improvements for their character in PvP. Especially at the beginning of an expansion, every improvement is still very noticeable.
World quests are better because they last longer
Yes, some players are bothered that world quests are now significantly longer. There are virtually no missions left that are just “kill a mob and vanish again.” World quests require more time, and those who want to complete them must invest time.
But honestly? I think that’s great. This panicked “fly from A to B and one-hit a mob” has always annoyed me. It didn’t feel like I was playing my character but rather a flight line aiming for maximum efficiency between landing points. Now world quests are longer, requiring the killing of numerous enemies, or even have different phases – just like the quests had during leveling.
There are fewer active world quests – but they last longer and are more extensive.
In general, I also have the impression that the world quests have more variety than before. Sure, the quests are still often “kill X” and “collect Y” – but that’s the main aspect of MMORPG quests. However, there are numerous world quests that mix things up a bit. Whether it’s the “Flappy Bird” mission for the Kyrians, the monstrosity slaying in Maldraxxus, or a parachute flight in Revendreth – there’s enough variety if you just want to do your 3 missions a day and aren’t into kill quests.
Conclusion: Much has improved with Shadowlands
After a week, I now have time to look at the game with a bit more calm and less “launch hype.” Just thinking about all the things I can do makes me smile with satisfaction. Even more so because very little of it feels like an obligation. I can decide quite freely what I want to do in WoW at any time and make progress everywhere. I’ve missed that for a long time.
In my opinion, Shadowlands has made a fantastic start and is doing a hell of a lot right. At every corner, it feels like the developers have learned from past mistakes and created an expansion where very little feels like work, and most is just open offerings and possibilities, with little turning into obligation.
If Shadowlands can maintain this course, it will keep me engaged throughout 2021.
What is the Team of the Week? For the Team of the Week, EA Sports selects 23 players each week who have delivered good performances in real football. These players are then rewarded with enhanced Inform cards that can be found in packs for one week.
What are TOTW Predictions? With the predictions, the FIFA community tries to estimate which players could make it into EA’s Team of the Week.
The real performances of the football players over the weekend are reviewed. The better the player’s performance, the more likely they are to secure a spot in the Team of the Week.
However, one should keep in mind that the predictions are not guarantees and can indeed deviate from the actual TOTW.
They provide a good overview and can also be excellently used to earn some coins in FUT 21. Here we reveal how to do it:
Kingsley Coman: In Bayern’s 3:1 victory over VfB Stuttgart, Coman was one of the strongest players on the pitch. With one goal and one assist, the Frenchman makes a case for the next Team of the Week.
This is how strong Coman’s first Inform card could be
Ellyes Skhiri: Skhiri had a strong game and secured Cologne’s first victory after 18 matches without a win. He scored 2 goals against Borussia Dortmund. An Inform card would therefore be absolutely justified.
Angelino: The left-back from RB Leipzig delivered a strong performance in the 2:1 victory over Arminia Bielefeld. He also scored a goal. A TOTW card would therefore be conceivable.
Florian Neuhaus: Whether Neuhaus will actually receive his first Inform card in FUT 21 will be revealed on Wednesday. One goal and one assist against Schalke 04 are certainly good arguments.
Construction work has apparently begun on the old Tower from Part 1 in Destiny 2, which was destroyed at the beginning of the game. What could this mean?
This has been discovered: Observant players noticed after the release of Beyond Light and the start of Destiny Content Vault. However, taking a look reveals that construction work is currently underway.
Various yellow scaffolding structures are standing on the old Tower’s structure and extend quite high at the most damaged point.
Here is the old Tower where apparently construction is now taking place
Moreover, recently, the new Iron Banner quest for the current season of the Hunt was discovered in the data of Destiny 2. And this also strongly indicates this direction. Because the quest is called “A Tower rebuilt”.
Why all of this? Some are now wondering: why? Why the rebuilding of the old Tower? And it’s not really clear at the moment. It’s also uncertain whether this is something building over time and is part of the living and evolving world of Destiny 2 – like once the Vex Portal in the Tower.
However, this seems too much work just for the Iron Banner or for nostalgia reasons. It would make sense, as the content that led us to the current Tower is no longer in the game. But completely refurbishing an old area just to redistribute a few vendors and give Guardians a nostalgic view? That sounds rather unlikely.
It’s most likely that the seasonal story could potentially develop in this direction – for example, when the Vanguard finally unites and reforms in the fight against the Darkness (the Hunter Vanguard still hasn’t had a new Commander since Cayde’s death). But for now, that remains pure speculation.
We’ll keep an eye on the situation and inform you as soon as possible about any new developments if any arise.
What is the significance of the old Tower? The old Tower is likely to be remembered by almost every Destiny veteran. It is the large social space from Part 1. However, it was destroyed during the campaign of Destiny 2, forcing the Guardians to relocate their headquarters to another Tower in the Last City on Earth.
Later, the old Tower could still be visited during the special mission “Zero Hour”. But since the release of Beyond Light, both are no longer in the game. However, it seems likely that a return to the old Tower is quite possible.
What do you think? Why is Destiny 2 rebuilding the old Tower from Part 1? And in what context will we see it again? Let us know in the comments, along with other readers from MeinMMO. And by the way, what do you think of Beyond Light so far?
Fortnite has announced the Crew subscription, which will be active at the start of Season 5. We have summarized everything you need to know here. This way, you can decide for yourself whether the subscription is worth it for you or not.
What kind of subscription is this? Fortnite introduced the new Crew subscription with a trailer, which will be active from December 2, 2020. For players who choose to become part of the Crew, there are monthly goodies in the form of skins and cosmetics, which will be exclusive to subscription holders.
But how does the subscription work and what can you expect when you sign up? We summarize the most important information for you and clarify questions you might still have about it.
All Information about the Crew Subscription
The most important questions answered quickly: First, we want to briefly answer the basic questions:
How much does the subscription cost?
The subscription costs 11.99 euros
What is included in the subscription?
Access to the Battle Pass, V-Bucks and a skin pack
When will the next package be announced?
Always at the end of the month
How do you cancel the subscription?
In the game itself, in the menu tab: Fortnite Crew
How much does the Crew subscription cost? If you decide to take out a subscription, there will be a monthly cost of 11.99 euros. If you later decide against it, you can cancel it anytime.
What is included in the subscription? With the subscription, you can secure various contents for a monthly fee. These include:
Access to the current Battle Pass. While it doesn’t change monthly, it is always included in the subscription. The Battle Pass typically costs 950 V-Bucks, which is about 8 euros. Additionally, it includes more V-Bucks and plenty of cosmetics.
1,000 V-Bucks per month. This also equals about 8 euros in value – with them, you can purchase skins, cosmetics and emotes.
Additionally, there is an exclusive skin pack each month, which is only available to subscription holders. Skins in the shop usually cost between 10 and 20 euros.
What does such a Crew pack look like? An example of what such a Crew pack looks like, which will only be available to subscribers, is shown by the first skin pack that has already been announced.
This will be available directly at the release of the subscription in December and brings “Galaxia”. The female outfit comes with a back accessory and a unicorn pickaxe.
Galaxia will be the first skin you get with the subscription
Do I save money with the subscription? If you calculate how much you would normally spend on all the included items, you end up spending around 26-36 euros. So if you regularly invest money in Fortnite for skins and cosmetics and buy the Battle Pass each season, you actually save half the cost.
Important: If you decide to take the Crew subscription, you do not need to buy the Battle Pass separately. You will not have to pay for the subscription and the pass. It remains at 11.99 euros.
If you like to spend V-Bucks in Fortnite, the subscription is worth it for you
When will the next package be announced? The skin pack that is included in the subscription changes monthly. The next package is supposed to be announced always at the end of the month.
The second package in this series will be announced at the end of December. The first will be released on December 2.
How do you get the subscription?
How do you sign up for a Crew subscription? When “purchasing” a subscription, you should not have any major difficulties. According to Epic, it will be offered right in the item shop, or you will find it directly in the purchase area of the Battle Pass.
But we will probably only see exactly how it will look when it becomes available in the game on December 2, 2020.
How can you cancel the subscription? If you have taken out the subscription but are not satisfied, you can cancel it anytime.
The cancellation process also takes place directly in the game. For that, you need to go to the menu tab labeled Fortnite Crew, and you can cancel the subscription directly from there. You will be guided through the process, so it should be relatively easy to handle.
MeinMMO has collected further questions that remain unclear and submitted them to Epic. As soon as the answers are in, we will extend and update the article for you.
In Destiny 2, you can now turn the exotic bow “Leviathan’s Breath” into a masterwork in Season 12. We will tell you where to find the catalyst and what the weapon has to offer.
This is the exotic in question:The combat bow “Leviathan’s Breath” was introduced in Fall 2019 with Season 8. To this day, a year later, this exotic is the only heavy bow in Destiny 2 – it requires Power ammo.
However, Leviathan’s Breath fires not weak arrows, but gigantic bolts.
Thanks to the perk “Big Game Hunter”, these hit so hard that enemies are knocked back several meters.
Yet neither that, nor the rather high damage or the intrinsic anti-champion function could help the bow gain popularity.
Now the Season of the Hunt has started in Destiny 2, bringing appropriately a catalyst for the struggling exotic. MeinMMO tells you how to turn Leviathan’s Breath into a masterwork and what the bow can do then.
Impact and precision are high, but the draw time gives the prey plenty of time to escape.
The Masterwork Catalyst for Leviathan’s Breath in Destiny 2
Where can you find the catalyst? The catalyst for Leviathan’s Breath is a random drop. You do not obtain it through a quest or during a mission. There is a chance to find the item with every powerful enemy you defeat using the exotic bow.
How to do it faster: If you can’t wait and want to get the catalyst as quickly as possible, there is a farming trick:
Visit the Lost Sector Widow’s Walk in the EDZ
Defeat the Captain and his 4 Nightmare Servitors here with the bow
This way, you take down 5 powerful enemies in one minute
Exit the sector and start over – after a few runs, you will have the catalyst
Stock up on heavy ammo at one of the many public events in the EDZ via flag
This is what you need to do: To turn Leviathan’s Breath into a full masterwork, you need to level the catalyst. In this case, you have 2 options that you can mix:
Get kills with the bow itself (1500)
Defeat special Scorn-born (gives about 15% progress): Here it does not matter how you complete the hunt objectives – the important thing is that the bow is somewhere in your inventory
Please note: You start the special Scorn-born hunts with your bait from Season 12. Make sure you insert a mod in the first slot that indicates as package content: “Leviathan’s Breath Catalyst Progress”. Just like in the picture:
How good is Leviathan’s Breath after its upgrade?
This is what the masterwork does: The exotic only receives one improvement as a masterwork: +80 inventory size.
This means in practice that you can carry 5 more heavy arrows.
Instead of 10 shots, you will have 15 shots in reserve
How good is this in practice? The significantly larger reserve definitely benefits the bow. However, this upgrade does not nearly suffice to make Leviathan’s Breath viable.
Many Guardians would have preferred that the painfully slow draw time or the sluggish handling be addressed as a masterwork. Because the biggest criticism of the bow still stands: Leviathan’s Breath cannot compete against the strong exotic competition.
Here you can find the exotic competition from Beyond Light on MeinMMO:
Especially with regard to the masterwork catalyst for another exotic bow, this is very disappointing. Because thebow Trinity Ghoul received its upgrade in Season 11 and immediately became a top exotic.
Are you an exotic collector and need every catalyst in your collection? Or are you a hunter and find Leviathan’s Breath just super fitting for the current season? Let us know your opinion in the comments.

Many players criticize Hearthstone. But Cortyn from MeinMMO explains why the game is as much fun as it hasn’t been for a long time.
I want to be honest, I had actually finished with Hearthstone mentally. I really had a lot of fun with Blizzard’s card game for many years, and it was the perfect filler to pass 20 or 30 minutes while waiting for other games.
But with the new patch for the release of “The Darkmoon Madness” and the 135 new cards, Blizzard has fully captured my attention again. They just push exactly the right buttons that were necessary to engage me with the card game once more.
With Yogg-Saron you can clean up effectively.
I know I stand relatively alone with this. A large part of the Hearthstone community does not like the new level system, finds the Tavern Pass too expensive, and generally finds the rewards too frustrating. Many feel cheated. I can understand most of the criticisms, but I still see it differently – even though Blizzard has apologized for some things.
I am motivated by bars that I can fill. That’s why I probably like the new level system so much. Playing against new gold rewards, packs, or even hero skins over more than 50 levels is fun for me.
The reward path in Hearthstone – many hate it, but it motivates Cortyn.
I share the criticism that the last levels of the reward path require too much XP. If I have to complete several weekly quests for a single level-up, it gets a bit tiring. The required XP should be lowered a bit or the XP gained should be increased a bit. I believe that would help most players.
Successes hit the same note for me. When I receive a small message at the end of a match that I have unlocked another achievement, it makes me smile with satisfaction. I simply like that; it was already the case in World of Warcraft. The good feeling of slowly but surely working through a list motivates me immensely and ensures that I approach achievements purposefully. Otherwise, I probably wouldn’t have tried so often to obtain all of Yogg-Saron’s Fate Wheels or to win a match in such a way that I have only one health point left.
Achievements – for Cortyn a reason to play a bit bolder.
Of course, in a way this is “fake content” because most achievements only give achievement points that you can’t do anything with. A few of the achievements do give rewards like additional XP, but that’s more of an exception.
Finally, it’s the “Duel Mode” that really excites me. It combines everything I like about Hearthstone.
A constructed little starter deck,
along with the powerful treasures of the adventures,
mixed again with semi-random card rewards after each battle.
All in the arena format – after 3 losses, it’s over.
Especially in heroic mode, which costs gold (or real money) and rewards with gold and card packs, it’s incredibly fun. At least for me, despite all the criticism.
The Duel Mode is fun.
Whether my newly found interest in Hearthstone will ultimately be lasting, I cannot say yet. After all, World of Warcraft is also vying for my interest with Shadowlands. But with the current innovations, it is ensured that I will log in again and again for a match when wait times arise.
If the Duel Mode and the reward path remain as interesting in the future as they already are in the pre-release phase, it looks really good that Hearthstone will become a lasting game again.
How did you like the changes in Hearthstone? Do you find achievements, rewards, and the Duel Mode sensible and good? Or isn’t it your thing?
In the new Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, you can create your own loadouts, which also include perks. These bring special effects. The perk Flak Jacket is currently apparently a bit too strong.
What is this perk? Flak Jacket reduces the damage you take from enemy explosives, fire from Molotovs, and crossbows. It helps against grenades, rockets, and mines.
This perk has been present in many CoD games and is quite popular. Its versatility makes it strong for most classes, whether you play a fast “Run&Gun” build or more tactically with an assault rifle.
The vest is also one of the best perks and wildcards in Cold War on MeinMMO. However, there are now videos from players showing that it might be a bit too strong. The developers are also reacting.
Flak Jacket lets players survive rockets
How strong is it really: In several videos that have surfaced online, players show how their opponents survive several direct hits from rockets or grenades. The reddit user strategy- demonstrates this particularly impressively in his clip:

According to the user, this happened in Hardcore mode, where players’ health points are also drastically reduced. Nevertheless, he fails to kill the opposing player with three rockets.
Players spot, devs react
Should it be like this? Hard to say whether it is a glitch, an exploit, or an intended mechanic. Players agree that Flak Jacket is supposed to work like this and has simply become too strong.
Treyarch has ensured balance in a rather strange way before. If you are not hitting anything with your weapons, it is due to a particular weapon characteristic that is supposed to balance out submachine guns somewhat.
An employee from Treyarch has already reported on reddit and reported that this subject has already been discussed within the team. He wants to pass on the community’s criticism but cannot say yet what exactly will happen.
This is how players are reacting: The community’s reaction to the effectiveness of Flak Jacket is divided. On one hand, they are annoyed that rocket launchers are rendered almost useless and it is incredibly hard to level them up and grind the rare skins in Cold War.
On the other hand, they are pleased that Treyarch has managed to remove the “Noob Tubes” from the game. Explosives have always been a controversial topic in CoD. They are seen as noob weapons since they can kill without players really having to aim. Under CharlieIntel’s tweet, mocking comments are gathering:

Particularly, the Hardcore mode in the games has been a torment for many players. In Cold War, Flak Jacket has so far prevented that. Some cynical players are now suggesting simply to use “real firearms” instead.
If you prefer not to use rocket launchers until the nerf for the vest comes, you should definitely switch to the M16. It is one of the best weapons at the moment.

On Twitter, Pokémon GO showcased two mysterious teasers regarding a raid boss. The egg for the raid is said to be active for 44 hours. What could this mean?
Update – 3:00 PM: In a new tweet, Pokémon GO displays a plane flying around the arena. The number 677 can be seen on it:

Players quickly suspected that this corresponds to the Pokédex number of the respective Pokémon. The number 677 belongs to Psiau, the Psychic Cat.
Psiau belongs to Generation 6, which will be released on December 2nd. So this fits well.
Original report – Here’s what happened: On Saturday, Niantic reached out to the community via Twitter. They showed two short videos featuring a white arena with a raid. Initially, there was a raid boss symbol and a timer of 6 hours:

What’s exciting about the teaser: This kind of raid has never existed in Pokémon GO before. Currently, the eggs appear at most one hour before the raid at the arena. A raid boss is then active for between 45 minutes and 3 hours (on raid days). A raid boss active for 6 hours has never been seen.
What could the teaser mean? Regarding the announcement around the major “GO Beyond” update in Pokémon GO, Niantic announced that a mysterious raid boss will enter the level 1 raids. The update will be rolled out starting December 1st. The mysterious raid boss could also appear during this time.
What kind of Pokémon could come? Which Pokémon is hidden behind the raid egg remains completely unclear.
Trainers, however, have discovered shadows in the background of the arena that don’t look natural. They appear to show some kind of swirl.

When will we know more? Niantic stated in the teasers that they will further investigate these discoveries. We should have more information soon.
It will definitely be exciting, as this type of raid is completely new in Pokémon GO. An egg that appears 44 hours in advance could make planning for trainers easier, and a 6-hour raid boss ensures that not too many trainers will flock to the arena at once.

The new expansion Shadowlands for World of Warcraft is currently gathering a lot of bad reviews on the review site Metacritic. Users are complaining about all sorts of things. How did it get such a low score?
For every 127 positive reviews, there are 105 negative and 10 neutral. Many reviews come from users who simply rate it with 0 points and either provide little explanation or do not explain at all what bothers them.
It’s pouring bad reviews for Shadowlands. Why?
Many of these reviews actually appeared already on the release day, November 24. While there are players who have already reached maximum level after 3 hours, the majority probably has not seen everything from the Shadowlands that quickly.
Criticism of features – What’s the matter?
This is being criticized: Finding solid criticism in the negative reviews proves exceptionally difficult. Many users just complain that Shadowlands is boring or what is missing for them. Mentioned points include:
no new races and classes
repetitive tasks
warmed-over content from old expansions
alleged problems at release
The user Khatmar gives a somewhat more detailed review. He criticizes the lack of new content, the restrictions, and the “timegating” of cosmetic items and the story that he doesn’t like. However, he still gives it three points.
Familiar characters actually return, and the story doesn’t have to please everyone. But are 0 points justified?
Is it all true? Cortyn said shortly after the release that Shadowlands punishes those who want to see everything. However, this is one of the few points of criticism that have at least emerged among us on MeinMMO.
Even the topic of “recycled content” is only partially true. Some mechanics actually return with Shadowlands, and many old characters are also back in the game. However, we are ultimately in the realm of the dead, and the reunion with beloved NPCs can be a beautiful thing, especially for veterans:
Furthermore, the release went extremely smoothly. Just shortly after the launch there were some problems, which still persist but occur rather sporadically. Most players, even on large servers, can play without issues.
Overall, the mood in both the press and the forums is rather positive to very positive. In the GameStar’s review of Shadowlands, for instance, the new expansion received a strong score of 84 points.
While playing, hardly anyone is complaining; the forum features recurring posts from users praising the addon. For example, in this thread by Shahrivar, who is actually quite critical himself.
On Metacritic, players have also joined in, taking action against “review bombing”. They write positive reviews, in which they sometimes criticize the negative reviews. User niyatimk writes, for example:
I created a Metacritic account just to rate this game after seeing the terrible (and childish) reviews. […] It blew me away. The graphics are incredible, the world is immersive […] the quests alternate between “just fun” and serious story. […] More of this, please, Blizzard!
The bad reviews on Metacritic have set a certain trend for World of Warcraft. Since Wrath of the Lich King, it has been declining here with few exceptions. The user scores for the expansions are (chronologically):
Burning Crusade: 8.1
Wrath of the Lich King: 7.9
Cataclysm: 5.7
Mists of Pandaria: 5.1
Warlord of Draenor: 5.8
Legion: 7.3
Battle for Azeroth: 3.0
This assessment roughly aligns with our worst expansions of World of Warcraft, but even here, these ratings are likely still significantly lower than what would be realistic.
This phenomenon is not just occurring with WoW. Metacritic and other platforms like Steam repeatedly have problems with “review bombing”, meaning users give extremely poor ratings without really having a critique. Individual points annoy them, so they refuse to give the game a chance at all.
