The players think this fits. Because the new specialists replacing traditional classes align more with a game mode like Warzone in Call of Duty. The medical station would be a somewhat hidden room where healing items might be found.
Also, the size of the maps, which annoys some players, as well as the design, support this theory. Most maps are spacious with large, empty areas and scattered “hotspots” – populated cities or outposts. Just like one would expect from a Battle Royale.
Does Battlefield 2042 have a Battle Royale? Battlefield 2042 does not have a proper BR mode. The only thing that comes close is Hazard Zone. Here you play in squads against other players and NPCs to extract data from the area.
However, the gameplay is more reminiscent of Escape from Tarkov or Hunt: Showdown, as you collect money like in a roguelite and spend it on equipment in upcoming rounds. However, a “real” Battle Royale could possibly be created with Portal, the creative mode of the game. We explain all modes in our special:
Destiny 2 has developed a great story. However, understanding all the connections correctly is not easy. AndyEdition, the German Destiny 2 lore expert, tries to unravel all the puzzles in his videos. MeinMMO conducted an interview with him and talked about the current story in Season 15 and the future of Destiny 2.
The story of Destiny 2 has captivated many players over the years. From heartbreaking moments of betrayal to shadowy scenes of revenge, Guardians have experienced a rollercoaster of emotions throughout the story. The unstoppable forces of darkness against the immortal bearers of light. And right in the middle is Savathun, who holds all the strings. She is “The Witch Queen,” the main character in the new expansion that is set to release in February 2022.
The German lore expert AndyEdition is a good resource with his videos for players who want to know more about the story of Destiny 2 – without having to read everything themselves. He attempts to unravel the game, which is notorious for having a story that is hard to understand.
Who is AndyEdition, actually?
AndyEdition started uploading videos about the stories in Destiny on YouTube at the end of 2016.
His community grew rapidly, and it soon became clear that he could excite many fans with this.
He not only has interesting storytelling videos and his own theories about the story but also a special way of reporting on the most exciting things in the Destiny 2 universe.
MeinMMO spoke with him about the development of the current story and his personal intent for this special “shooter-adventure.”
Andy, how did you get into Destiny 2? What specifically drew you to it?
AndyEdition: “I was already a big Destiny 1 fan and played it since the beta. When Destiny 2 was announced, there was no doubt that I would play it from the first minute.”
Many players are fascinated by the Destiny story. Why do you think that is?
AndyEdition: “The developers have finally succeeded after so many years to weave the story with a red thread into the game. Guardians who listen to the dialogues in the game now also understand what is happening, without having to read the lore. The new season model, which has serialized characters since the season of the chosen and is told in a weekly episodic format, definitely contributes to this. It is almost like in the old days when there were no streaming services and we could only watch a new episode of our favorite series on TV each week. The current season also scores points by putting Savathun more into the foreground. She is the Witch Queen of the Hive and has been teased for years.”
Strong characters shape the stories of Destiny 2.
What is different about other games compared to Destiny? Is Bungie’s new storytelling approach really that unique?
AndyEdition: It seems to me that Bungie has taken the telltale formula and adapted and optimized it for the Destiny universe. The main story arc is presented in the game, and in the lore texts, you can get additional information or search for hidden clues. Since I don’t know of any game that allows players to experience the story in such a form, I would currently consider it – since the last three seasons – unique.
What is the “Telltale Formula”?? The Telltale formula describes the interplay between the decisions we make in a game and the resulting effects on the game’s progression. Decisions significantly influence the story and shape its ending. The focal points for this gradual emergence of a personal adventure are the conversations and many small individual sequences.
There are so many lore texts and mini-stories in Destiny 2. A huge universe of red threads that reconnect somewhere. How do you maintain an overview as a Destiny 2 lore expert?
AndyEdition: Honestly, not at all. I have to read things again and again when I research for a video. The Books of Sorrow, for instance, I have read at least ten times, and each time I interpret things differently. The lore texts are structured in such a way that you have to read them repeatedly.
If I can’t engage with Destiny for a while because my personal life, job, family, etc., doesn’t allow it, I always need a little refresher.
You had a period where you stopped making lore videos about Destiny 2, and the German Destiny 2 community really missed you during that time. Afterward, you asked your followers what they still wanted from you. Did you perhaps think about quitting the videos about Destiny 2?
AndyEdition: I must honestly admit that I often thought about quitting YouTube. In my current job, I have early and night shifts. That makes it difficult to find a routine to work on videos. A lore or story video takes a lot of time, which I can’t always find alongside my personal life. Spending every day off or my vacation solely working on videos won’t make me happy either.
On the other hand, I have also thought about quitting my job and making my living from YouTube and Twitch. However, since Destiny, especially in the German-speaking world, does not receive the attention that it does, for instance, in the English-speaking world, it would be a big risk that I am not ready to take at the moment.

Savathun is the Queen of Lies – “Don’t Trust Her!”
Let’s get to the current Destiny 2 story. What do you think as a lore expert: Should we trust Savathun? Where she speaks so trustworthily and clarifies everything more or less?
AndyEdition: Savathun is called the “Queen of Lies” for a reason. No, in my opinion, we should not trust her. I think she has her own goals. She actually has similar characteristics to Mara, the Queen of the Reef. Both want to intervene in the cosmic war between light and darkness, but neither would submit to a side. However, I think we can learn from Savathun if we read between the lines of her lies. She knows much more about the light and the darkness than the Tower and we Guardians know.
You recently published a video where you presented an interesting theory about light and darkness. How the Traveler chooses a Guardian and that Savathun might be after that. Tell us your assessment of Season 15. The best we’ve ever had?
AndyEdition: The Season of the Lost does a lot right. Trials of Osiris is more popular than ever, the Shattered Realm is one of the better PvE activities, if not the best we’ve had this year, and the story is picking up speed. The first weeks with Season 15 were very exciting and kept me glued to the screen for hours each week. Unfortunately, Season 15 is also being stretched, as the “Witch Queen” expansion has been postponed to next year. Thus, we have again 1-2 months without new content and additionally must wait for the finale of the seasonal story. This gives Season 15 a slight dampener, as does every season this year.
Story-wise, we now see how the big players take the stage, Savathun, Mara Sov – the Queen of the Reef, Xivu Arath, and the Entity. The story of Season 15 ties into Forsaken and so far has been the best expansion for Destiny 2, making everything we experience this season so exciting. This prompted me to rewatch all the sequences and read through the lore books we received back then. This led me to the theory of how Savathun could be chosen by the Traveler. If I’m right, we will soon have a different view of our Traveler.

The community has greatly discussed the topic of Sagira. Do you believe she was also transformed and is now the reincarnated ghost of Savathun? A certain resemblance cannot be denied.
AndyEdition: Honestly, I haven’t really dealt with this question yet. Of course, Savathun could use her knowledge of necromancy, learned from Nokris in the Season of Arrival, to resurrect Sagira. There are also interesting statements about Sagira in the Destiny 1 Grimoire cards. For example, Lysander, the leader of a former faction that was banned from the Tower (the Concord), said that Osiris was resurrected by a faulty ghost. How this is interpreted now and whether it will play a role in conjunction with the current events remains to be seen.

I think you have also noticed Bungie’s big problem that entry for new players is not easy. Do you believe Destiny 2 players and fans, like you are one, can really fill the gap for Bungie in terms of the story? Or do you think Bungie needs to find a way to tell the story to new players from the beginning?
AndyEdition: With Beyond Light, the Cosmodrome, and the New Light quest, Bungie has managed to make the entry point for new players a bit easier. They must now also achieve this with the story; that little pop-up in the top right corner of the map is absolutely not enough to explain the story to new players. Bungie cannot rely on YouTubers like me, as not every new Guardian wants to catch up with the story through YouTube videos.
With this large universe they have created, it would be a wasted potential if they do not soon provide a rough summary of the previous events in the game. I would even celebrate if Bungie offered all campaigns as an extra download so that new players could experience the story themselves.
Here the question arises: Do you believe that players who start playing later have any chance of properly following the story? Do they even have to?
AndyEdition: Destiny has different types of players, and not everyone is interested in the stories in the game. You can also play the game without paying attention to the story. However, you miss a huge fascination of this franchise. I think Bungie has also realized this themselves by now, and that’s why they are now focusing heavily on the story and the individual characters.
We have already seen a major shift when we compare how the story was told at the release of Destiny 2 and how it is currently being done. However, as developers, one must not rest on one’s laurels and become complacent.

Let’s move on to the currently most controversial character: Crow aka Uldren Sov. What is your opinion of him? Has he left his old character behind? Is he currently the only Guardian who still remembers all the details of his first mortal life?
AndyEdition: Crow has already experienced a lot in his short time as a Guardian. Just as he found his purpose as a servant of the Traveler, his past caught up with him, and he met Uldren Sov, his former self. Uldren’s devotion to Mara Sov never allowed him to reach his full potential, as he was only pursuing his sister’s goals.
He was only a puppet back then, and in my opinion, he still is today. He is most certainly a piece of Savathun’s grand plan, whether he wants to be or not. However, I believe that now that he knows the whole truth, he will find his own way sooner or later. That will be anything but easy for him. I wouldn’t be surprised if he dies a hero’s death one day and becomes a proper legend in the Destiny universe.
Maybe not the only Guardian. As far as I know, Shin Malphur, a Hunter, also remembers his backstory. Shin is also currently the only Guardian who uses the ghost of another deceased Guardian. He was chosen by his ghost without ever having died.

“We have technically died in Season 9!”
Bungie teased and confirmed a death with “Spoiler Alert.” They just didn’t reveal who it would hit. Tell us, who do you think is most likely and why?
AndyEdition: Whew, answering such a question is not so easy. Even though I love talking about theories, one can quickly get bogged down and go down completely the wrong path. After we saw the trailers for “The Witch Queen”, the logical answer would be: Savathun, she dies and is resurrected as a light bearer.
But it is rarely that simple in the Destiny universe, as Savathun keeps Osiris hidden, and the 14th Saint would do anything for his beloved Osiris, leaving much room for speculation here.
If we recall the Season of Dawn in Season 9 and the Corridors of Time, at our grave and the speech of the 14th Saint, it would even be theoretically possible for us Guardians to die. Back then, the symbol/logo of the Witch Queen was already seen when entering the Corridors of Time. I don’t believe it, but Bungie is always full of surprises.

In Summer 2020, Twitch permanently banned streamer Guy “Dr Disrespect” Beahm. Since then, there has been a public and detail-lacking dispute between the streamer and the streaming platform. In the meantime, Dr Disrespect streams on YouTube and claims: Thanks to the Twitch ban, he is intentionally ignored by major publishers like EA, for the release of Battlefield 2042.
Who is Dr Disrespect? Until June 2020, Dr Disrespect was one of the most popular streamers on Twitch. As a former developer for Call of Duty, he primarily plays shooters as a streamer.
“Dr Disrespect” is not just a name: The ‘Doc’ is a character full of personality, played by Guy Beahm, whom he almost never leaves. Iconic are the bright red glasses, the large vest, the thick mustache, a huge ego, and a short fuse.
What accusations does the streamer make? In a stream on YouTube, Dr Disrespect not only took shots at Twitch again in front of his audience. He also directly attacked major publishers in the industry, notably Activision and EA.
After Dr Disrespect was not invited to events for the release of Battlefield 2042, the streamer expressed anger and disappointment. He claims that EA has him on an unofficial ban list. This is responsible for his absence from the events:
It’s official, Champs: I’m on an EA ban list. I mean, that already tells you… Since the greasy ban of the purple snake, we have been harmed behind the scenes in so many ways, Champs. Not just the original contract [with Twitch].

The ban from the “purple snake,” as the streamer refers to Twitch due to its logo color, is thus “crazy defamation” that has harmed him “in so many ways.” Among other things, it has destroyed his relationships with EA, which is why he was also unable to participate in the events for Battlefield 2042.

The Doc is talking about a “shadow ban.” This is a ban that the affected person cannot see. Banned users are blocked,
Neither Twitch, Activision, nor EA have responded to these statements so far. Whether his relationship with these giants will improve, especially after these statements, remains to be seen.

Twitch bans one of its biggest stars – seemingly without reason
What happened? In Summer 2020, “The Doc” suddenly disappeared from Twitch. His fans have been wondering since then why he is no longer allowed to stream on the major platform, as there has never been any clarification. He himself says: “I can’t talk about it, but […] I know why. I’ve known the reason for months and let me just say this: There’s a reason why we’re suing the hell out of them” (via comicbook.com). Since August 2021, Dr Disrespect has been planning legal action against Twitch.
Even 1.5 years after the Twitch ban, there is still no public explanation as to why these measures were taken against the ‘Doc’. However, there have been numerous theories and vague hints:
The current ban was not Dr Disrespect’s first Twitch ban that made rounds. Already a year prior, in June 2019, the streamer was banned: He was streaming from a public restroom at E3.
The difference: After serving that sentence, Dr Disrespect was allowed to stream again on Twitch. It seems he has given up hope that this will repeat in the current situation.
Battlefield itself is currently facing some issues. The release in early access did not go smoothly, server problems have plagued many players, but the game itself is not running smoothly either:
Players of New World have been complaining for some time about their empty servers. This is not only difficult in itself, but also leads to further problems related to the game mechanics. Amazon is now responding.
What is the problem? In New World, players are currently missing on some servers, which is partly due to the free server transfers. This leads to issues such as a declining economy, but also much more serious difficulties.
As a result, crafting stations lose their ranks, and it becomes impossible to create truly powerful equipment – or even anything useful. Some players are therefore demanding that the problem be fixed immediately.
The Corruption regularly overruns the areas and causes ongoing conflicts even without wars.
How should the problem be fixed? Amazon is now considering merging servers through so-called “merges.” This involves combining two servers into one. All players on both servers can then play together.
However, since in New World, the guilds (or companies) divide the world and own territories, this is not so straightforward. Amazon now explains in a new blog post how this is supposed to work.
Server merges are not easy, but Amazon is working on it
How do the merges work? The basis for the mergers was already established before the game’s release. Only servers in the same “set” can be merged. That’s why you were only allowed to create one character per set.
The recommended languages are also the same there, which makes the interaction after the merge easier. For a server to qualify for a merger, factors like player count and engagement are considered.
Then a suitable partner candidate is visited. Amazon tries to take into account the distribution of factions and the general population here. However, this is not always guaranteed to work, the developers warn in advance.
The companies on the partner server retain their conquered territories. The companies from the server that is being merged receives a compensation of 50,000 coins. For example:
World X has too few players and is to be merged with World Y
Nothing changes on World Y – All companies retain what they have
Players from World X join World Y and keep their possessions, remaining in their companies
Companies from World X receive 50,000 coins as compensation to participate in wars over territories and regain their status
When a world is merged with another, there should be a message to all players along with a countdown.

When will the merges take place? So far, there is no date for the merges. Amazon wants to test the entire function further, including on non-public test servers. On Monday afternoon (German time), there should also be a test on the PTR.
By the way, according to the blog post, Amazon is already working on region-crossing transfers. So at some point, it should be possible to switch between the EU and US. However, for now, the first major update of the MMO is coming:
League of Legends is known as a PvP game with the same map, but it has a deep and very interesting backstory. With the new Netflix series Arcane, interest in this story has significantly increased. We at MeinMMO would like to summarize the most important events for you.
What kind of article is this and where do the information come from? In this article, we want to summarize the major points of the story of LoL and Runeterra in general. This is only a rough overview, as the lore runs very deep.
We will first discuss the most significant events of the game world, then the contents of the new series Arcane and lastly the Hextech magic in general.
The information comes from the short stories of Riot Games themselves, but primarily from the book “The Realms of Runeterra,” which contains an accurate timeline of the world.
The history of Runeterra – From creation to today
It all began with the Watchers, who fought against reality
Where does the story begin? The story of LoL begins with nothingness. After nothingness, the Void was formed, a force of insatiable hunger that wants to consume everything. The Watchers lived in it, but they saw and heard nothing. They were not even aware of their own existence.
But then reality formed and brought forth light, which the Watchers were not pleased with.
In reality, the first creatures formed, such as Bard and Aurelion Sol. It was Aurelion Sol who created the first stars. These creatures lived in Targon, a beautiful city of silver and gold.
The Watchers observed the activities of these “Celestials” and devised plans to destroy the reality that was a thorn in their side. This led to the conflict between reality and the Void that still exists today.
The Watchers are depicted as giant eyes.
The creation of Runeterra: Runeterra is a planet that was not formed by chance. The Celestials, including Soraka, created the planet and filled it with life.
In this context, it is speculated that an army was intentionally bred on Runeterra to fight against the Watchers, although this is not mentioned in the official canon.
However, the Celestials lost the so-called World Runes, with which the planet was created, somewhere on Runeterra. This is said to be one of the reasons why magic is so powerful on the planet.
The Watchers, in turn, continuously tore holes in reality, which we now know as the so-called Void Rifts.
The division of the world: Runeterra is divided into different continents:
Valoran in the north
Shurima in the south
Ionia in the east
Oceanic in the general waters
Within these continents, there are various nations, which we will discuss in more detail throughout the history. These nations are not tied to a specific people, so for example, the small Yordles have a home in Bilgewater (Fizz), in Piltover (Heimerdinger), or in Ionia (Kennen).
In the here and now, there are 13 nations, most of which you can find on the world map. Only Bandle, the home of all Yordles, Ixtal, a nation in Shurima, and the Void are missing.

The time before year 0 and many wild wars
The time reckoning of Runeterra is based on the calendar of the Noxian people. Thus, there are the years before and after Noxus, similar to our time before and after Christ.
The war of the three sisters: 9,000 years before Noxus, the war of the three sisters occurred, where Lissandra fought against Avarosa and Serylda. The war arose because the Watchers had influenced Lissandra.
However, Lissandra recognized her mistake and the three sisters together imprisoned the Watchers in the Howling Abyss in the Eternal Ice. The Howling Abyss is now the place where ARAM matches in LoL take place.
Lissandra was one of the first to be deceived by the Watchers.
The outbreak of the Void: 2,500 years before Noxus, a battle occurred between Icathia and Shurima, two ancient civilizations. The Icathians unleashed the Void in a last desperate action to win the war. However, their capital was destroyed, and their land was ravaged beyond recognition.
As a result of this action, several further problems followed, such as the collapse of the Shuriman Empire. The Ascended, who had actually fought for them, were perverted by their contact with the Void and turned away from the Empire.
Moreover, there was a betrayal by Xerath against the Shuriman Emperor Azir, who subsequently stole the Sun Disc from the Empire, which had given Shurima a special power.
The Rune Wars: A particularly significant event in the history of Runeterra was the destruction of the city of Helia, which tore a hole into the spirit world after a horrific accident. This place would henceforth be known as Shadow Isles. This happened 25 years before Noxus.
Through the fall of Helia, dangerous magical artifacts – the World Runes – ended up in the wrong hands. The Rune Wars commenced, during which the first brutal battle involved Ryze as the apprentice of the famous magician Tyrus. The images of this war burned into Ryze’s mind forever.
The entire world faced destruction, and chaos could only be averted because the two characters Mihira and Kilam climbed Mount Targon and were chosen by the aspects. In this way, Kayle and Morgana were created.
Ryze, in turn, began to collect all rune artifacts in the world and lock them away.
The magician Ryze experienced the Rune Wars.
The Rune Wars caused a lot of destruction in Runeterra. Various peoples of the Noxians locked themselves in an immortal bastion and survived the horrible events.
They united thereafter into one people: Noxus. Thus begins the year 0 of the calendar.
Noxus wants to unite the world under one banner
In the years following the Rune Wars, several new nations were founded, including Demacia. Demacia refers to itself as “refuge from magic”.
Noxus becomes the imperial power: In the subsequent years, Noxus aimed to unite the entire world of Runeterra under one banner and one nation. The supreme leader of the military for countless years was General Boram Darkwill, who was likely kept alive longer through necromancy than is usual for a human.
From the years 787 to 892, Noxus managed to conquer large parts of the continent Valoran. Subsequently, they attempted to attack the Demacian Empire, and General Sion succeeded in killing King Jarvan I of Demacia. For this success, Sion was honored with a special grave after his death.
Sion is one of the generals of Noxus.
After that, however, Demacia attacked Noxus and liberated more and more nations in Valoran. Boram Darkwill then resorted to dark magic to resurrect Sion. With him by their side, Noxus then managed to drive Demacia out of their own lands.
In the year 984, Noxus marched towards Ionia. However, General Swain, who had actually been dishonorably discharged from the Noxian military, managed to lead a rebellion against Boram Darkwill and murdered him from behind.
Swain then seized power and ended the siege of Ionia. This occurred in the year 989. We are currently around the year 997, in which the fallen king Viego returned.
Zhaun, Piltover and the events in Arcane
What is the deal with the nations in Arcane? Zhaun and Piltover are two separate city-states. According to the series, Piltover is located directly above Zhaun, whereas in other reports of the lore, they are next to each other. However, it is clear that they together control a passage between the continents Valoran in the north and Shurima in the south, making them an important hub in the trade of the world Runeterra.
Both cities live in strong competition with each other, as both produce talented inventors and also experiment a lot. However, in Zhaun, there were numerous accidents with Chems, making it a more dangerous place and fostering crime.
Piltover, on the other hand, is more respected in the world of Runeterra, which is why the academy is also located there, where the brightest minds of many nations are educated.
The academy in Piltover with Heimerdinger as its head is highly regarded.
When do the events of Arcane take place? We have not been able to determine a specific time frame yet, but we know that the characters from the series like Jayce, Caitlyn, and Vi were born around the years 960 to 970 after Noxus, which is about 25 to 30 years before the present.
In Act 2, the characters are already older. So we are likely quite close to the present.
The Hextech magic
The blue crystals from Arcane: In the story of Arcane, strange blue crystals play an important role. They are an important component of the Brackern, an ancient race of creatures made from crystals, of which Skarner is one.
The crystal contains its own personality and feelings, allowing Brackern to perceive the world differently and use magic. When a Brackern dies, the crystal waits for a new host but retains the experiences of the previous creature. Thus, a crystal constantly evolves.
Hextech magic arises from the crystals: During the Rune Wars, the Brackern fell asleep, hoping that the mortal races would annihilate each other with magic.
However, they were later unexpectedly awakened by their crystals when mortals attempted to steal the blue crystals and use them for their own magical purposes. Instead of mutually destroying each other, they emerged from the wars with stronger weapons and armor.
The Ferros family from Piltover, including Champion Camille, established a monopoly with these blue crystals, which they called Hex-Crystals.
They later succeeded in producing synthetic Hextech crystals through Chem-Tech, which were, however, very unstable. As Piltover rejected magic, they produced them in Zhaun, but took the profits back to their nation.
