The kick-off for Season 27 in Diablo 3 has begun. Under the motto “Call of Light”, it starts with the new “Angel Stigmas” items to sanctify items. Everything about starter sets and the season theme in 3 minutes.
When does Season 27 start? Today, on August 26, Season 27 in Diablo 3 starts at 5:00 PM German time on PC. From previous seasons, we know that consoles are a few hours behind and can only start at night.
Below we show you clearly what will happen in the new season.
The Season Theme
What is it? The theme of Season 27 “Call of Light” gives you the opportunity to “sanctify” your legendary items. For this, you use the new consumables “Angel Stigmas”.
When sanctifying, a legendary item is given one of three new class-specific powers.
- The Angel Stigmas can drop anywhere in Sanctuary from level 70.
- You can only have one sanctified item equipped at a time – you can collect unlimited amounts.
- Sanctified items can be sanctified again with an Angel Stigma.
- If you sanctify an item, none of its values are retained.
- Your companions cannot equip sanctified items.
- Sanctifying items does not work on craftable items.
The Sanctified Properties
These exist: You may be wondering which properties the legendary items can receive when you “sanctify” them. We show you the details in the overview. Keep in mind that there are three possible properties per class that are rolled randomly.
Barbarian:
- ‘Whirlwind’ pulls all enemies within 25 meters towards you and holds them in place.
- ‘Hammer of the Ancients’ hits enemies in all directions. Every 10th use unleashes a powerful shockwave.
- When you hit enemies, you generate stacks of ‘Storm Rhythm’. When using ‘Wrath of the Berserker’, you consume up to 50 stacks of ‘Storm Rhythm’ and terrify enemies within 16 meters, causing them to take 2% more damage for 20 seconds per stack. Stacks up to 50 times.
Crusader:
- ‘Blessed Hammer’ now crackles with energy, dealing damage to enemies within 15 meters along its flight path. All runes except ‘Dominion’ now allow the hammer to fly straight ahead.
- You use ‘Heavenly Strike’ against a random nearby enemy every 2 seconds. After using ‘Cavalry’, this effect occurs at shorter intervals for 5 seconds.
- ‘Heavenly Execution’ now sends you crashing down with 2 Archangels who apply ‘Consecration’ and ‘Judgment’ spells.
Demon Hunter:
- ‘Rain of Vengeance’ now triggers your last non-channelled hatred spender.
- ‘Vengeance’ launches a salvo of rockets that deal percentage damage based on the enemies’ maximum health. The number of rockets increases over 30 seconds, and elite enemies and bosses take less damage per rocket.
- ‘Multishot’ no longer fires an exploding projectile but instead concentrates explosive power into piercing light beams.
Monk:
- ‘Wave of Light’ now summons a bell at the target location that deals damage when a player attacks it. Up to 5 bells can be active at the same time.
- All strikes from ‘Way of the Hundred Fists’ trigger a second strike. Consecutive hits with ‘Way of the Hundred Fists’ increase the skill’s damage by 2%. Up to 350 times stackable.
- The target of ‘Seven-Sided Strike’ is battered by strikes of spiritual power for 15 seconds. Only one enemy can be affected at a time.
Necromancer:
- Your golem now gathers corpses within 20 meters. Each stored corpse enables the use of a corpse-consuming skill with a maximum number of corpses. Up to 30 corpses can be stored.
- Enemies within 50 meters are constantly attacked by ‘Army of the Dead’ with the rune ‘Unconventional Warfare’.
- If you hit enemies 5 times in a row with ‘Death Nova’, you unleash a spirit against an enemy. Up to 3 spirits can be active at the same time.
Witch Doctor:
- Enemies affected by ‘Locust Swarm’ are now additionally haunted. When you use ‘Piranhas’, all haunted enemies within 60 meters are pulled into the swarm. Enemies stunned by the rune ‘Swamp Goliath’ immediately die, while elite enemies and bosses take massive damage.
- ‘Horrify’ becomes an aura that additionally increases the damage taken by enemies by 100% and reduces their damage dealt by 15%.
- You regularly summon 2 Colossi and 3 Zombie Dogs. Colossi gain the effect of the rune ‘Restless Giant’, and Zombie Dogs receive the effect of all runes. Enemies hit by ‘Sacrifice’ are burned, taking 100% more damage from your minions.
Wizard:
- Your ‘Storm Armor’ charges over 30 seconds. Casting ‘Storm Armor’ at maximum charge unleashes a powerful lightning strike that kills a random enemy within 30 meters. Bosses and elite enemies do not die but take heavy damage.
- ‘Arcane Orb’ now regularly generates up to 4 orbs that orbit you and generate an additional orb when you cast. All orbs from the rune ‘Arcane Orbit’ now explode at the same time.
- ‘Magic Missile’ fires 10 projectiles and gains the effect of the rune ‘Seeker’.

How do you get them? For completing Chapters 2, 3, and 4 of the season journey, you receive “Haedrig’s Gift” each time. In the gifts, you find a certain number of equipment items from a set, depending on the set size. If you open all of them with the same class, you receive a complete set and an active 6-piece bonus.
