If you’re clever, you should hold off on collecting loot boxes in Overwatch for a while. We’ll tell you why.
In Overwatch, player rewards mainly occur through loot boxes. Whenever a player reaches a new account level, there is an additional box. However, this is not the only way to get new loot boxes.
Every week, players can earn three bonus loot boxes by participating and winning in the colorful “Arcade” game modes. A total of 9 victories are needed, 3 per game mode, to claim the loot boxes.
This is especially worthwhile during events, such as the upcoming Halloween event. During this time, regular loot boxes are replaced with event loot boxes that contain additional items from the respective event. For instance, Halloween skins, emotes, and voicelines.
Arcade loot boxes do not reset at the start of Halloween
The catch is: The arcade loot boxes reset from Monday night to Tuesday. However, the Halloween event doesn’t start until Tuesday evening! So, if you are already playing diligently in the arcade on Tuesday and grabbing the three regular loot boxes, you’ll be disappointed. When the event starts, your progress typically does not reset, meaning you essentially “missed out” on 3 Halloween loot boxes.
Our recommendation is: When the arcade loot boxes reset on the night of October 9th to 10th, don’t play any games in this mode. Wait until the Halloween event goes live in the evening to ensure you actually get Halloween loot boxes.
Are you looking forward to Halloween in Overwatch and will you be collecting boxes eagerly? Or do the events and rewards leave you cold?
