A fresh Overwatch teaser is causing a stir. A new hero is visible! Fans are sure – Hammond is coming!
In the past few days, Blizzard has been releasing small teasers, likely to announce a new hero for Overwatch. After all, it has been a few months since the release of Brigitte and the fans are hungry. All clues point to another gorilla – Hammond.
What can be seen in the teaser? The short teaser on Twitter shows a street with many posters, billboards, and graffiti. For a brief moment, a ball rolls through the image and then disappears again. For many players, it is clear: This must be Hammond!
Who is actually Hammond? Hammond was one of the test gorillas that were stationed at the lunar base. They were genetically modified to be particularly intelligent, as is the case with Winston. When the lunar colony fell, Hammond escaped in a rescue pod. Apparently, he has landed back on Earth and converted his pod into a mech. This was also noticed by some users.
More hints in Junkertown. However, even in the somewhat older map “Junkertown,” there are hints about Hammond that now make sense in retrospect. There, a poster of “Wrecking Ball,” the champion of the arena fights, is hanging. A mech is also depicted there, with the exact rolling ball in the background that we saw in the teaser.
The community is ecstatic and is now sure: Hammond is rolling in and will be a new offensive hero. The evil counterpart to Winston. So we can definitely look forward to some “Good Scientist – Evil Scientist” voicelines.
