Infinity Nikki is a free game from the game designer of Breath of the Wild and will be released on December 5, 2024 for PS5, mobile, and PC.
What kind of game is it? Infinity Nikki is a cozy adventure with an open world. The game is the fifth in a series of fashion games, and as such, it focuses again on collecting outfits.
Additionally, players can fish, catch bugs, solve puzzles, and complete platforming sections – or simply explore the game world, which looks really stunning. As cute as this all sounds, Infinity Nikki actually has a surprisingly dark backstory.
On the official Infinity Nikki website, players can currently pre-register. More than 31.5 million people have done so to date (as of November 15, 2024). Now, the developers are announcing the release date with a new trailer.
In Infinity Nikki you can explore dungeons with style
When will Infinity Nikki be released? The open-world game will launch on December 5, 2024 and will be available for PS5, iOS, Android, and PC via the Epic Store. This was confirmed by the developers on X.
Infinity Nikki will be free-to-play and will be monetized through microtransactions, but there will also be a pre-order version available in the PS Store for just under 10 Euros.
In the game, players need to collect outfits with special powers, conquer dungeons, and even fight some bosses. However, according to initial reports, there will be relatively few of the “Style Battles” for which the series is usually known (via Reddit).
Thus, Infinity Nikki is actually meant to be more of an open-world adventure rather than just a fashion game. For this, they have brought on a real expert, as Sub-Director Kentaro Tominaga has been involved in several Zelda games from Windwaker to Breath of the Wild.
Who is it worth it for? Infinity Nikki will be – like the other Nikki games – a gacha game that comes with numerous ways to spend money. If you leave this aspect aside, there is still a free open-world adventure with appealing visuals.
So, if you just want to dress up and explore the game world or experience the story, and do not place too much value on combat, you could definitely take a look. Otherwise, you might end up like Marie: The money-hungry gacha system kept me away from Genshin Impact for ages – Now I regret it
