Just before the worldwide release, Where Winds Meet released a new trailer that summarizes what the new role-playing game has to offer. There is an impressive figure: 10 million players have already signed up in advance for the RPG, which will be released on Steam and for the PS5.
What kind of game is this?
- Where Winds Meet takes place in 10th-century China and accordingly draws on many elements from Chinese history.
- You create your own character and experience a large, open world alone or in co-op, fighting opponents in action RPG style with Wuxia martial arts and various weapons.
- The role-playing game has already been released in China and attracted over 15 million players. The worldwide release is on November 14, 2205, on PC, PS5, and Mobile. Where Winds Meet will be free-to-play.
These are the features: In a new trailer shortly before the release, the developers summarize the most important contents of Where Winds Meet again. The focus here is mainly on the combat system:
- You fight, as is classic in an action RPG, not only with attacks, but also with parries, dodges, and counterattacks (“perfect parry”), with alternative controls in MMORPG style.
- There will be various “combat modes,” or styles, that are derived from traditional martial arts.
- You have the choice of 7 different weapons, 12 martial arts, and 23 different mystical techniques – including, of course, umbrellas and fans.
- Where Winds Meet collaborates with martial arts director Stepehn Tung Wai (Seven Swords, Kung Fu Jungle), who directs the choreography.
The trailer also highlights the day-night cycle and the weather system of the open world, as well as the various possibilities for exploration, such as secret places or old traditions like shadow plays, operas, and dragon dances.
In a press release that accompanied the trailer, the developers also state that Where Winds Meet has already received 10,000,000 pre-registrations. The preload starts on November 12.
An Open World with Many Liberties
A major highlight of Where Winds Meet is the use of artificial intelligence. The NPCs all have their own lives with daily routines and the ability to chat directly with them via AI chat.
Your voice not only has the power to communicate with NPCs, it can even shape your character and literally: the character editor offers the option to automatically adjust your character based on your voice.
Even though Where Winds Meet visually resembles an MMORPG, you can play it entirely solo or in a small group with friends. At its core, however, it is a story-driven RPG, my MMO: Where Winds Meet: How much MMORPG is in the new mega-hit from China?
