In the loot shooter Outriders, you can choose from up to 4 classes. One of them is the Technomancer. But what can he actually do? MeinMMO introduces you to the all-rounder.
Since February 25th, players can try out the demo of Outriders. It features the four different classes playable, including some skills. These include:
- The Assassin (Trickster)
- The Pyromancer (Pyromancer)
- The Devastator (Devastator)
- The Technomancer (Technomancer).
The latter may pass as an all-rounder. He stands out because he primarily uses gadgets and relies less on the crazy abilities that the other classes have. The Technomancer is considered an all-rounder by many. MeinMMO will show you why.
The Technomancer can do almost anything
What exactly makes him an all-rounder? The Technomancer has a balanced selection of skills, base bonuses for weapons, and self-healing, along with a powerful healing ability. This combination makes him mighty as a supporter and damage dealer. Played correctly, he can also withstand quite a bit.
These are the base attributes of the Technomancer:
- Melee attack: Enemies can be frozen.
- Healing mechanic: Converts a portion of the damage dealt into health points
- Standard bonuses
- Increased ranged damage (+15 %)
- Increased lifesteal from abilities (+15 %)
- Increased lifesteal from weapons (+15 %)
These are the playable abilities: In the demo, four abilities are playable, and a maximum of three can be equipped at the same time:
- Shrapnel: A proximity mine that deals damage to enemies in the vicinity and interrupts bosses when using abilities.
- Freeze Turret: An automatic turret that deals damage to enemies and can freeze them. It can be destroyed by enemies or will disappear once the duration of the skill ends.
- Tormentor: A stationary rocket launcher that can be placed and fires a wave of rockets forward. Each rocket deals massive damage and interrupts enemies.
- Pestilence Bullets: Your next magazine deals poison damage and inflicts 50% more base damage. The poison effect is also spread to nearby enemies.
His skills are thus well-suited for freezing, poisoning, and stopping larger groups. The Tormentor rockets and the mine can also deal explosive damage.
You strengthen your skills with equipment
What equipment should be used? Even in the demo, you can create powerful combinations with appropriate weapons and rare (blue) equipment.
For example, you can have up to two movement mines, significantly enhance your rockets, or properly upgrade your turret. Here are some examples of possible modifications available in the demo:
- Headgear
- Initial explosion: Tormentor causes an additional explosion that deals 100 damage to enemies within 5 meters.
- More Traps: You can drop an additional Shrapnel mine before the cooldown activates.
- Higher Damage: Your Freeze Turret deals additional damage per hit.
- Upper Body
- Hail Shot: The damage of the Freeze Turret is increased based on your skill damage.
- Lower Body
- Reserve Magazine: Grants an additional magazine for Pestilence Bullets before the cooldown activates.
- Gloves
- Frost Storm: Tormentor rockets gain a freeze effect
- Surprise: The Freeze Turret explodes before it is destroyed, dealing damage in a radius of 6 meters
- Enhanced Rockets: Each Tormentor rocket deals 16 additional damage.
- Shoes
- Critical Analysis: Increases critical hit damage with Pestilence Bullets by 30 %
- Supplies: You can drop an additional Shrapnel mine before the cooldown activates.
- Higher Range: Increases the range of Tormentor rockets by +60 %
- Bonus Duration: Increases the lifespan of the turret by +30 %
Although there are no legendary armors in the demo yet, you can already take a first look at the powerful loot.
Free selection of weapons
Which weapons are suitable? At first glance, ranged weapons like automatic sniper rifles, rifles, and repeaters are best suited for the Technomancer. This is not wrong. Especially rifles come with lifesteal and can thus additionally enhance your self-healing.
However, essentially you can play whatever suits you. What’s important is that you deal consistent damage to continuously heal yourself. The modifications of the weapons also play a role.
What mods are interesting? There are also powerful modifications for weapons that fit well with the Technomancer. The selection in the demo is already impressive. Here are a few examples:
- Shield Maiden: Shots generate a shield – especially on rifles, this skill provides good protection with self-healing, allowing you to shoot at enemies for longer.
- Lord of Parasites: Killshots increase lifesteal from weapons by 20% for 20 seconds – so if you get kills, your healing from hits increases even more.
- Poison Bullets: Shots cause a poison effect on enemies. The cooldown is 8 seconds. – If you omit Pestilence Bullets, you can still poison your enemies with weapons.
- Ash Bullets: Shots cause an ash effect on enemies. The cooldown is 8 seconds. – Similar to a freeze effect, enemies are slowed by ash effects, giving you more time to shoot.
Maybe you’ll get lucky and find a legendary weapon already in the demo. There are already a few ways to farm them there.
You can check how the Technomancer looks in action in the video by YouTuber True Vanguard:
These are additional skills: In the finished game, there are a total of eight different abilities. The remaining four will be unlocked at higher levels, which are not available in the demo yet.
It is known that the Technomancer receives the skill “Tool of Annihilation,” which unlocks a rocket launcher and a minigun. Later, a skill will also follow that heals your entire group. It is the only healing skill for the whole group in Outriders. With later equipment and the missing skills, there is still much more to come.
What do you think of the Technomancer? Have you tried him yet? Or do you prefer another class? Let us know your opinion.
